Jisoo as Youngjoo Acting Overall So GOOD!
As a fan of zombie films and thrillers, I highly recommend you watch this. Jisoo's acting is very good, her hallucinations look very real and her panic really makes us nervous. The plot twist also really makes me wow, sometimes there are jump scares that make me laugh. I'm very happy that there is another zombie-themed Korean drama. they are all safe and sound, but I'm also curious about Arron Park? will he become a zombie or become a half zombie? 𐌅𐌅𐌅After watching this until the end and always waiting for Friday, I finally feel happy with the ending, We need season 2

Not bad , but not good
Story :-The whole plot was entertaining, but I've so many unanswered questions like:
1. How did this whole zombie thing start?
These so many plot holes that I just can't seem to find answers. I also felt the story was a bit rushed. The ending was acceptable, maybe even good .
Acting/ cast:- watched it for Jisoo but ended up liking the whole cast. Every actor did a great job . The whole thing was definitely a joy to watch. Even the characters that appears only for couple minutes were amazing .
Music: Don't remember any of the ost or even a bgm . I'll probably have to check it out seperately . Was there ever music in the show?
Rewatch value: There are better zombie dramas .I don't mind watching it again if someone else want to watch it with me, but i don't think I reach back to watch it again.
Watching it was worth it and would recommend to people.
Don't mind if there is a sequel . There is definitely so many thing that hasn't been clear yet , but at the same time can't see myself hoping for a sequel.

It's a bloody horror & comedy, literally
(I put up the 'contain spoilers' tag just in case)Love how it is portrayed uniquely with a combination of different genres such as comedy, horror, a bit of melo (?), and even supernatural-like elements. I laughed and cried in the latter episodes, but the first few episodes were no less of a rollercoaster ride. I thought it'd be a disappointing take on the zombie genre like some others that failed to attract its audience, but no; it was great~ What I liked the most was the ending of the drama, which was directed in a way to be hopeful towards the future (both for the audience and the drama itself). What's most surprising was the alcohol part XD. I mean, who thought of such an idea lol! For once, being a drunkard is helping lives! The zombies were unexpectedly horrifying too. After watching several similar dramas and movies of this genre, I thought I'd already be numb to them by now, but wow. Another good factor is that they don't drag on the story. It was short and precise, and contains all the elements that connects the whole story. Looking forward to a new season if there will be one~

THEY TRIED DOING MANY THINGS, RESULTED TO HALF-ASS STORY
As a zombie enthusiast (I really like zombies from anime and K-dramas like Kingdom, All of Us Are Dead, Train to Busan, I Am a Hero, and other zombie shows from the West) and as someone who likes to watch romcoms, this show hurts me really, really bad. I applaud them for trying to do zombie horror action romcom (emphasizing more on the comedy part), but the way they execute all the genres is half-assed. It’s much better if they just stick to one major genre and run with it.I would dissect it by the genres. First is zombie—and we can also include the horror genre here because I think the two are inseparable. Zombie-wise, I didn’t care about the zombies, and that’s okay. There are a lot of zombie shows that don’t fully explain the characteristics of their zombies (like Zombieland, etc.). But they also have the “special kind” of zombie trait, where the transformation of a human to a zombie is affected by how far the infection is from the brain. They also have the feature that when a human drinks alcohol, it can prevent them from turning. If they have all those special treatments, then they need to establish the characteristics of a zombie (if they can smell, if they can hear, or if they have enhanced features), because that’s how you can establish how the special treatment works—even if they don’t have a medical background or a medical professional. Oh, and don’t get me started on the “magic zombie” scenes where a zombie just comes out of nowhere. It’s just a lame way to move the story. This happens a lot of times in the show. Again, if they want to create horror scenes, they need to first establish the characteristics.
Now onto the action part—especially the soldiers. How the fuck do soldiers move like that? Even if the majority of them are just enlisted, they should easily fend off zombies. The captain and the second-in-command also act like they’re not soldiers. And mind you, almost all of the casualties among the soldiers could’ve been prevented if they just acted like soldiers (like all the casualties on the rooftop). I also like how Jisoo stumbles and, like, for an hour she just reminisces about their past life—like, dude, you’re in a zombie apocalypse, get a grip, will you? And the alcohol part—it was so cringe that you’re in a zombie apocalypse and y’all are drinking? Might as well get yourself a zombie pet and let them bite you.
For the romcom (I’ll merge them into one because I have so little to say about the romance part), in terms of romance, I didn’t care about their relationship, even though they had scenes about their past and how they fell in love with each other. It’s like they’re trying to merge two different K-dramas into one forcefully, instead of creating a romcom inside a zombie horror. And to be honest, I cared more about the romance between the soldier and the hotel manager. You need to create romance inside the scene—not just force people to acknowledge that the two were in love with each other in the past.
About the comedy—I admit some jokes are a hit, especially how In-ho says his name with a funny tone, but that’s just funny at first and annoying in the long run. And to be honest, I can’t think of anything that made me laugh about the show. It was so bland. I don’t get why people say it was a good show.
And additionally, it’s my first time seeing Jisoo act. I didn’t listen to others when they said she isn’t a good actress, but for fuck’s sake, I should have listened to them. She can’t act. Just stick to singing.

Very worth it
After watching this drama, I can honestly it deserves more than the 7.5 it's been given here. It's really good. It has everything:Tragedy, comedy, romance. I recommend it to anyone that likes zombie movies. Or just dramas in general, lolAnd Jisoo, Wow!! She has really come very far from her days of Snowdrop. Her acting has really improved. I saw a lot of comments talking about how bad her acting was in this drama so i came in with low expectations. But she really blew me off. And its saying a lot since she had to act a lot of emotional scenes.
It's really deserving of the 8.5 I gave it

Comedy + Horror = A new level for Zombie Dramas/Movies (Worth a watch in everyway possible)
When I first saw this drama, I had misgivings. I thought this was like many other zombie dramas and the casting wasn't very convincing but still, I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did.The thing that sets this drama apart from other zombie dramas out there is that this drama is mixed with comedy. And instead of infighting between survivors, the survivors act as a team and sacrifice themselves for the others. And we get to see 2 viewpoints of the zombie outbreak, one from the FL's side and one from the ML's side. Although the story is juggling between stories from 2 different viewpoints, strangely it wasn't awkward and felt like they were connected. Here the ML and FL start from 2 different locations during the onset of the outbreak and they both desprestely try to meet each other. And we get to see the trials both of them had to go through to come together. Their fear, sadness, helplessness, grieving, hope, determination etc.
The fact that it is mixed with comedy gives the viewers hope for a good ending for the characters. The fact that they managed to combine, horror, with comedy and still managed to make this drama intense, deserves praise on its own.
The actors and actresses in this drama are great. They did an amazing job, so kudos to the cast. (And I'm so sorry I judged the cast without giving this a try first)
Also, This drama is a 10/10 for me. Of all the zombie movies I have watched so far, the drama has the lowest zombie difficulty level. 😂😂 It's funny, sad, intense all at the same time.

Boring
See, I'm a Kdrama Fan and if it's zombie genre than I must give it a try. And I started the Series only for Jisoo! Her Acting is Superb ngl. I loved her On screen scenes. But on other hand, They Made ML so dumb! I've never seen So Dumb Soldiers! They tried to make it funny, but sorry it was Annoying and cringe. It was more like Forced comedy!
I'm dropping this drama after watching Episode3.
Sorry I don't have any Expectations from this Drama. Boring Cast tbh! Except Jisoo!

some dramas are just not meant to be
i know this review is going to make a lot of viewers mad, but hear me out before going full keyboard warrior on me. this drama lacks a lot. contrary to popular opinion, i don’t think jisoo is the weak link in the acting. that being said, this genre just doesn't suit her. she would shine more in slice-of-life and melodramas. now, my biggest issue with this drama is the writing. not everyone is meant to write comedy, and this is a perfect example of why. i generally hate when characters are dumbed down just for laughs. i can't stand watching these fish-brained men—it feels like my IQ drops every time. Was this review helpful to you?

Realism, gore, and grit, not Your usual Zombie Drama lol
This was genuinely a great watch, not the kind that completely hyped me up like Train to Busan (though let’s be real, the ending of that one was so unnecessary), but definitely worth the time.I didn’t plan on watching it when it was first announced last year. The idea of too much comedy in a zombie setting usually puts me off. But then, I randomly saw bits of the trailer and thought, Okay… I have to watch this.
Life got busy and I totally forgot about it, until yesterday. I read some comments saying the beginning was boring, so I went in prepared for a slow start. But honestly? People exaggerated. Not every zombie show needs to open with chaos and destruction. Sometimes it’s refreshing to see life before the outbreak. We still don’t know how it all started (they didn’t explain that), but the gradual buildup was well done.
It begins with people just living their everyday lives, and then slowly… things start falling apart. I was expecting over-the-top comedy because of the genre blend, but nope! It had funny moments, sure—but they felt natural, not forced. Actually, there's more gore than comedy, and the thrill definitely dominates.
Now let's talk about Alex. He died—shibal! That was such an annoying death. 왜?! He was such a good guy, so supportive, and he absolutely could’ve kept everyone safe. I was not ready for that.
Also… can we talk about how in some zombie shows people act like they’ve never heard of zombies before? Come on, it’s 2025! Who doesn’t know how they work? They caught on eventually, but still, it was a little frustrating.
I won’t type a lot more, my fingers are tired lol, but let me just say, there were so many things that could’ve been handled smarter. I kept thinking, Man, I wanna be in a zombie drama so bad. It looks exhausting and terrifying, but so fun!
And that kid who got into the train? That was heartbreaking. I knew that would happen. Crowded stations in zombie apocalypses are just a NO. You can’t see who’s been bitten, there’s no control, and panic makes people do the dumbest things. High ground is always the better option!
And the guy who was with the female lead at the station—did he really die just from that fall? Brutal. It looked like a zombie waterfall. That whole situation was so messy. I would never put myself in a place like that!
Overall, you won’t regret watching Newtopia. It may not be a flawless masterpiece, but it’s definitely entertaining, exciting, and full of memorable moments. I need a second season—like, immediately EHEHEEH.
And, the chemistry between Ra In ho and Lee Je Yun was so cute, a true bromance wahahah, And they were both the smartest like howww! oh and Aaron Park! my man slayed his role and he literally survived till the end 😂 Imagine surviving a zombie apocalypse even when you're but just by drinking alcohol, so happy he survived!

I need season 2 of Newtopia
From the moment it was announced with the stellar cast of Park Jeong Min and Jisoo, I was counting down the days. And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!Right from the get-go, this drama had me on the edge of my seat. The plot was so engaging, I was completely hooked. And the zombies? Seriously impressive! Even if they used CGI, they felt incredibly real, and honestly, it didn't take me out of the experience at all.
What's brilliant about "Newtopia" is how it balances the dark, often grim atmosphere with moments of genuine peace and unexpected comedy. It keeps things from getting too heavy, making it a truly enjoyable watch.
I absolutely loved the dynamics between the different teams. Lee Jeong's crew, with the soldiers and the hotel folks, had such a fantastic synergy. And the bond between Kang Young Joo and her friend, the resilient Seo Jin Wook, was just awesome to watch! Each character brought their own unique flavor to the story, making them all memorable in their own way.
Honestly, episodes 1 through 8 flew by! There wasn't a single dull moment for me. Plus, I appreciated how the drama gave us a glimpse into Lee Jeong and Kang Young Joo's college days – those flashback scenes were hilarious and provided a great lighthearted break from the zombie chaos.
However, there's one thing that's been nagging at me. We had this significant character, Seo Jin Wook, Kang Young Joo's steadfast friend who fought alongside her against the undead. But around episode 7, his storyline kind of went silent. It left me wondering: did they ever reunite? What happened to him? This loose end definitely has me curious!
Overall: "Newtopia" is a fantastic blend of suspense, action, and heart, with a touch of humor that keeps you invested. The performances are top-notch, the zombie sequences are gripping, and the team dynamics are a joy to watch. While the mystery surrounding Seo Jin Wook's fate lingers, it doesn't detract too much from what is otherwise a thoroughly entertaining and engaging drama. Fingers crossed for a potential season 2 to answer some of those burning questions!"
