The story follows Shen Wan, the daughter of Shen Yi, a high-ranking official of the Supreme Court, whose entire family is massacred after being implicated in the Prince of Jin case. Shen Wan escapes to Jingzhou by disguising herself as Qin Wan, the Ninth Lady of the Qin family; where she learns all about medicine and how to perform autopsies.

She not only excels at healing the sick and saving lives but is also skilled in being a professional coroner to investigate crimes. During her investigations, Qin Wan meets Yan Chi, the crown prince of King Rui. Yan Chi is determined to clear the Prince of Jin’s name, an ambition that aligns with Qin Wan’s own mission to vindicate her father. The two return to the capital together, solving a series of strange and mysterious cases along the way. After returning, the discovery of a skeleton leads to the reopening of the Prince of Jin case. As they delve deeper, Yan Chi and Qin Wan gradually uncover the truth and ultimately expose a shocking secret buried deep within the palace.

Because the Lead is smart and cunning, knows her opponents better than she knows herself and is someone who goes through her revenge

Both Female lead are trying to get revenge. Not the typical Chinese fl revenge stories. This ones actually make sense.

The extensive planning for revenge!

Also makes us question, "was it worth the sacrifice for revenge?".

It's also not exactly linear. like how faithful does lot flashback to previous and then to present. the scenes arrangement here feels that way sometimes.

Both Kill My Sins and The Prisoner of Beauty share a lot of core themes that make them stand out: intelligent leads, political struggles, intense chemistry, trauma-driven motivations, and visually stunning costume drama aesthetics.

Complex story of innocence and revenge. How tragedy affects even those who stay at home. War and Officialdom. Cause and effect on people. Love story mixed in between.

Both ML in each drama come from the slums/ghetto if you will. And both work towards getting their people out to be free from poverty and able to work and make a better living.
Both have investigative genre and clever ML and FL.
- Both have female Empress WU that reigns this period and have their own secret intelligence or hire clever people to investigate murder mysteries.

- Female led narrative
- Strong, smart, and cunning FL that is a force to be reckoned with
- FL has an unusual job (Psychiatrist in KMSins, Lawyer in TToLO)
- Great chemistry between the leads
- Sweet and righteous SML that looks up to FL
- Fight for justice
- Greedy rich/noble/royal people that constantly scheme and plot against the leads
- Themes of classism, inequality, feminism, and trauma
- Both dramas leave you breathless with constant commotion, plot twists, and heavy themes
- Well-crafted narrative with complex characters and intense dynamics.
- Both dramas are very beautiful

Main differences are that KMSins is more revenge focused while TToLO is more justice focused. TToLO also has romance while KMSins has very good chemistry but not obvious romance.

Both are costume dramas about female led revenge. Intricate plots, cunning women, elusive and cold but supportive male leads, and both plots have involvement from royalty to some degree.

Neither drama focuses on romance and instead is excellent at weaving the story through each plot.
