The romance is worth to wait for
Well, I will not write anything new I guess, but watching this, oh my god.I have watched PSH since Heirs and tbh I did not like her acting. But this? Someone finally gave her an opportunity to shine as an actress. I've read a lot of complaints about the romance part, but seriously, you can see it from ep 2 BUT ONLY IF you don;t pay attention to classic cliches like hand grabbing or cathing while falling and see those very subtle gestures of sincerity. And love of course.
All characters are written in the best possible way. I did not expect the ending to work out this way and it is kinda good as I like to be surprised.
One of my new "must watch".

Peak enemies-to-lovers
Oh, it's been a long while since I've seen a drama do pretty much everything right. THIS is how you do enemies-to-lovers. Yes, the leads have banter from the start and I thought it was just going to be annoyance-to-lovers, but they really ramped it up in the next few episodes and damn. We get actual violence and real betrayal. Yay!The chemistry between the leads is fantastic, and I think this is one of the few instances where the romance arc weaves into the bigger plot perfectly. As much as I like some couples, it feels often out-of-place to have a "dating" episode where everything is sunshine and rainbows while the plot is put on hold. Instead, we get to see the leads communicating and working together to solve the mystery and catch the bad guy and that just means so much more. I'm just so impressed with the writing from start to finish; the setting and premise are creative and original, and even the subplots and mini-cases were impressive, and the show did an amazing job of raising the stakes and keeping them high.
I don't have any many criticisms about this drama, and if I do they're pretty minor; the transitions are just a little weird — it's like the show made it really clear where the ad breaks are, and the drama fades to black at the most inopportune times, like during really tense scenes. It's a really small thing but it did feel jarring sometimes.
Other than that, fantastic watch. I'm not a rewatcher but I think I might make an exception here.

couldn’t put it down literally
It says I gave a rating of 8.5. This is actually and 8.79 for me. This is the first park shin hye show I have watched OMG I LOVE HER. She is now in my top 5 actresses ever. Multiple scenes I laughed don’t remember the last time I have laughed at show cause I’ve been very stressed. So so wowzers but it did get a bit idk lacklustre ep 10 and beyond. That dude doing dismemberment to assemble a new human being to put the kylum in sounds so disturbing. The angel that helped kang bit na. I LOVE HER TOO. Second hand man of kang bit na is such a mood. I got kind of upset when ML had a fight with kang bit na and threw I think ashes that can disable her powers I was like BRO! Idk if like in real life there was a judge who releases criminals then teaches them the lesson of what they did to the person by doing it back to them i would be so over the moon for it but people have their opinions. Ye chan mother broke my heart. That serial killer dude really be yapping about putting people out of their miserableness because they are in poverty…WHO IS YOU!!!!🙄😒 such good storyline. Park shin hye you’re literally such a queen. S2 WHEN?! I am gonna tune in from now on to park shin hye dramas. Slay queen. Was this review helpful to you?

Judge from Hell: Demon of all demons
First of all, the casting is just amazing. Everyone did such an amazing job. Even the minor villains/murderers in each episode. Special shoutout to Yang Kyung-won (aka Yang Seung-bin from Eps 5-6) because I was honestly just in awe of how well he transitioned from one "personality" to another. Also, props to both the leads (Park Shin-hye aka Kang Bitna & Kim Jae-young aka Han Da-on) because they freaking delivered since episode 1. This just might be my favorite Park Shin-hye drama I've seen so far. From beginning to end, they executed the plot so well. And the "judgement" scenes of Justitia/Judge Kang? Absolute perfection. It satisfied everything in me seeing those vile beings suffer. Each story and the characters, amazing. They did so well. Honestly, I only have praise for this kdrama cause the writers and director truly id justice for each episode and story.
One thing I love that they did at the end of episode 14 is the montage of all the actors from ep 1 to 14. Just chef's kiss MWA

The Demon Slays in Versace and Hermes
Gentle viewer, be forewarned. This has graphic violence too often and for too long. There was torture and gore. The Good:
• Park Shin Hye was amazing. She was mesmerizing on the screen. Killer acting (pun intended).
• My compliments to PSH's stylist. Her clothing, earrings, handbags, and shoes were exquisite. The beautiful visuals helped offset some of the darkness of the drama.
The Bad:
• I like Kim Jae Yeong, but I couldn't quite believe the romantic relationship between the upstanding detective and the demon who enjoyed hurting people.
• It didn't make sense that when the female detective went missing that her faux son didn't go crazy looking for her. It didn't make sense that the demon didn't pursue that either. Even if she didn't care about the female detective, she wanted to catch the serial killer, and that was the best lead. She had the ability to view the detective magically but decided, meh, she'll show up.
• The demon judge seemed locked into proceeding with a trial and then releasing the criminal afterward in order to exterminate him. I never understood why she didn't eliminate the murderers before trial. It would have been much simpler and left her out of the spotlight.
• It's a K-drama, so there was a stupid time skip and an inexplicable separation. It was done poorly and made no sense. The drama should have ended before that happened.
• The plot holes were many and few issues were resolved as the first season was dependent upon a second. I had to rewind, because I couldn't accept that the director had chosen to stop filming there. It wasn't an ending. Just a stop. Nothing resolved.
I generally complain that K- and C-dramas overlook, forgive, or reward the villains. I can't make that claim here! The evil-doers got what they had dished out, and then they were taken out. It was cathartic to a point, but I never want to get too comfortable with the idea of violent retribution. It didn't help that I'm reading a serial killer series at the moment (Dan Wells' John Wayne Cleaver series: I highly recommend for those who find sociopaths and other neurodivergents interesting; very fascinating character). That was too much darkness at once. I need to balance that better.

Park Shin Hye finally unleashed her inner menace—and I loved it.
This drama turned out to be a lot funnier than I expected, mostly because it leans into its own absurdity with such confidence. The premise alone is already unhinged: Bit Na, a demon judge from hell, sent to kill ten murderers in a year as punishment, only to discover that Korea is apparently experiencing a murderer shortage. Her “how hard can it be?” optimism followed immediately by a dry spell is the kind of comedic timing that shouldn’t work, yet somehow does. It’s chaos, but it’s intentional chaos, and the show knows exactly what tone it’s playing with.A huge part of why it works is Park Shin Hye. I’ve watched plenty of her dramas and usually sit in that respectful-but-lukewarm zone, but this role finally lets her be unhinged in the best way. She’s sharp, sassy, and fully committed to Bit Na’s brand of supernatural menace. It’s the first time I’ve seen her drop the polite veneer and just play, and it proves why she’s one of the most bankable actresses in Korea. She carries the comedy with a kind of chaotic bravado that makes even the morally questionable moments feel entertaining rather than jarring.
And the moral gray zone is where the show gets unexpectedly interesting. When Bit Na realizes she can’t find murderers, she pivots to identifying people with murderous intent, releasing them, and waiting for them to commit the crime so she can claim them. It’s clever narratively, but ethically? She’s absolutely abetting murder. I spent half the show laughing and the other half wondering if anyone—demon or not—should be deciding who deserves to die. That tension sits under the humor like a quiet alarm, giving the comedy a sharper bite.
By the time the drama wrapped up, the ending was predictable even with the twist, but honestly, it was as realistic as a demon‑judge story can get. What did make me laugh was how everyone just collectively… let go of the unsolved murders Bit Na indirectly contributed to. She definitely nudged the body count upward, but because she’s the protagonist, we all shrug and move on. It’s the same logic people use for Batman: technically, he leaves a trail of broken bodies and questionable decisions, but we forgive him because he’s “our” vigilante. Bit Na gets that same narrative immunity—ethically messy, narratively convenient, and somehow still charming enough that I didn’t mind.
As a whole, it’s fun, chaotic, morally slippery, and anchored by a lead who finally gets to unleash her full range. A wild ride, but a satisfying one.

If you are not focused just on the romance, it is a great supernatural series
9/10 is my rating. This is a 2024 South Korean Dark Fantasy, Action Legal thriller. With 14, 60-73 minute episodes.First I provide a unique synopsis then a review
Synopsis
Judge Kang Bit-na (Park Shin-hye) is mysteriously stanbed to death in a park and erroneously winds up before Hell’s judge, Justitia (Oh Na-ra). Justitia does not like humans nor does she feel any empathy for the murder victim who was before her by accident so she sends her to hell. This angers Bael (Shin Sun-rok), a major demon who is essentially second in charge of Hell. To punish her, Bael forces her to inhabit Kang Bit-na’s body and identify ten evil amd remorseless sinners who do not get full punishment through the justice system and send them to hell. eternal punishment. She only has one year or her existence will be snuffed out by Bael. During the course of serving as a human judge, Justitia/Bit-na encounter Han Da-on (Kim Jae-young) a violent crimes detective, who becomes suspicious of the judge when he notices many of those who appear before her meet an early demise.
Review
This was a fresh take on sins and judgements and the role of supernatural characters such as demons and angels. It reminded me of a book series I read by Piers Anthony "Incarnations of Immortality" where every role, God, Satan, Grim Reaper were just jobs. I found the Hell's judgement aspect of this series very interesting. Who wouldn't like to think that those truly evil among us might experience an "eye for an eye" type punishment. It was entertaining throughout. Well-acted. And ended reasonably well. I might watch it again and highly recommend it to fans of the genre. It's not as strong in terms of the romance but very strong as a supernatural drama.
Spoilers
Like so many others my main critique was with the romance element. I did not dislike that it had a romance running through it felt like an afterthought in many ways. It would have felt more integrated if the ending had not been so nebulous. Does she love him enough to stay behind and be human or not? I thought the chemistry was fine between the leads but it was just hard, in general, to envision someone so strongly enamored with justice being okay with a partner that is essentially a serial killer. She was just doing her job and wasn't going after anyone that did not deserve it, but the absolute joy she exhibited in carrying out the brutal and grisly punishments was disturbing. It was like a serial killer that found a sanctioned purpose for what they already enjoyed doing. The main guy was so good that pairing him with someone who could kill anyone in that manner was just a hard match up to buy.
It also made no sense why she would be offered the chance to essentially send 10 to hell in exchange for becoming human. What did it benefit hell to grant her such a thing? She would have had to carry out her job whether or not she was rewarded.
They seemed to leave it open for there to be another season. It ended, they were together, but it could be only temporary (three years and she is on her last year when it ends) depending on whether or not she decides to become human. I don't like nebulous ending. I know streaming platforms like to do that so they have the option of additional seasons if it is popular. But it breaks what is great about South Korean shows where you know generally there will be one season. And there isn't this open-ended decision about future seasons or not.

PERFEITO!!
enfim eu amei demais!!

started off so strong !
i thought this was gonna be so good until the end because the beginning was so strong and the premise was SO GOOD !!!!! i loved both the FL’s and ML’s acting and what i loved the MOST was the satire like !!!!! no words !!!!!! the writer was so good when it came to subtle nuances about criticising the church so well done !! but they also showed how good it is to have faith and how, sometimes, it’s the only thing that keeps people going wtv that faith may be !the ending lost me a bit ngl and i was bored watching certain scenes but still the fantasy elements made up for it tbh !!

A courtroom drama with a side of fiery sass! 8/10, it's okay!
"Judge from Hell: 8/10 – This drama burst in like a dramatic K-drama hero—10/10 energy, fresh AF, and I was ready to stan. Then the plot took a nap in the middle, and the ending? Longer than a K-drama villain’s monologue. The acting? Let’s just say some cast members delivered emotions like a drowsy sloth reading a grocery list.BUT! The soundtrack? Chef’s kiss. I’d listen to it while dramatically judging my life choices. And the CGI? Well… it tried. Some moments were slick, others looked like a PowerPoint transition from 2005.
Watch for the killer start, endure the saggy middle, and fast-forward to the bops. Just… maybe keep snacks handy for the eternal finale. (BTW i like it, somehow hahaha)"
