someone please share a spare heart with me

It was so wow. From the very first seconds, it captured all my attention, and now I feel like I might need a spare heart. My English doesn’t allow me to describe fully all my emotions, but my bestie and I spent a lot of time, words, and even tears just trying to move on after it.
It doesn’t mean that the series is bad; on the contrary, it provoked so many emotions that we couldn’t watch anything else for a while. At first, it was like, why can’t they end up together, why didn’t they try harder… then, oh, actually, maybe this is better for everyone. It's just that we’re not as decisive or strong as Yeong to hold on.
And Yeong still needs to learn how to live with Kyley and how to love. I hope he’ll be alright.

About Yeong Su, I'm not sure I totally understand—or maybe I just don’t want to believe it. Was it really all just a plan of his? Was Yeong initially just research for him? But then he fell in love, got scared, and pulled back?
That was painful.
And the story with Habibi isn’t clear to me. He lost his vision for two weeks, and then what? What was the cause?

About Kylie. It cause me to learn more, cause I’m convinced that this condition requires ongoing treatment. I didn’t really like how it was portrayed in the series, though.
And the issue with condoms seemed unrealistic to me in 2024, given the huge variety available.

Tour-de-force. And it lingers in your mind after finishing it.

Love love love this. Binged it and loved it. Great acting, great storyline with great chemistry between the characters which makes it transcend beyond a typical BL. It is sweet without being cloy, it is sad without being overdramatic. After finishing the show, the afterglow of it lingered on me - sadness, hope and sentimentality. The last I had such a feeling after watching a series was after finishing the English series 'Normal People' based on Sally Rooney's novel that also had a similar-ish story line. This series is perhaps the closest and most accurate depiction of gay people living in asian countries. Best series so far on here this year, regardless of genre. Absolutely brilliant.

Everything in this movie was perfect. Everything felt real, the way they flipped my emotions. I had read the novel and knew what the ending would be like, but I still felt like it was missing when I watched it. And every detail of the conversations and scenes is just top tier. I think I can rewatch it for the 16273rd time. Well Gyuho and Young deserve another ending 😔

Loved it

Even at the beginning I was interested, which is rare for me to want to finish the whole series in one go. I was so happy when I heard they were releasing it in one go. I would definitely recommend this series to all, Some can probably relate to it or most people actually. some much happens in a short 8 episodes so you’ll definitely stay interested.. IMA NEED A SEASON 2 THO, it’s really good, I haven’t watched a show like this before, especially a Korean drama that’s has all of this type of recognition. I was also really exited to see yoonsu as the main actor I’ve seen other stuff he’s in and I love his acting. He did not disappoint. His narration also I could feel “a connection”? I'm not sure what it call it but I also really enjoyed the narration in the show it helped you understand his point of view really well if you could not understand by just watching. Which his acting portrayed the emotions said in the narration..WOULD DEF RECOMMEND!!!..

Lonely in the City

Completed.
I told sunset abt you is still my favorite; hard to beat the intensity that it packed in such a short run. but this comes close, ep 1-5 were stellar. It fizzles a little bit from 6 onward but I feel like it a great representation of growing up. When young we constantly look for excitement while trying to
Learn as much from the universe as we can. As we evolve we realize that the mundane is inevitable and come to peace with it.

I hope this isn’t reduce to being seen as just a BL, it’s not. It’s an exploration of growth and loneliness. I hope people who are not interested in the genre still watch it. Give it a chance.

Realest types of men

I'll write this short and simple, this drama was so real that even I related to it.

In this story Young dates the most canonically accurate men in one's journey about learning about gay life and love. We have:
1. The man ready to risk it all but you/yourself are not ready, only to leave with regret and what ifs
2. The man that uses you to study homosexuality or the "CURIOUS" people of this world
3. Right man, right time but soon falters as time has other plans

I might be speaking from experience because I for one have experienced all three, but sheesh was this drama an nail to the head. I honestly was more dumbfounded than I was happy watching it cause damn did it hit. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, believe me I did! The quality is exceptional, from the actors, to music, to editing, to directing, to the script, and to the ending (more in spoiler), it all works. This is a show made to and possibly was born to tell a story, a story that is to be seen/heard and not be forgotten. I would say this is not for the fluffy bl watchers, absolutely not. This is for the people who wants to learn, understand and witness how life is on the rainbow. This is a show to truly show how it is to love in the big city.

Small side comment tho:
I really thought that gyu ho might be his end game because everything felt natural really, you go through those types of phases as you are in a relationship, up and down and vice versa! I felt gyu ho's struggle when they essentially broke up just cause he was going to china, but hey I have to admit not everyone is a fan of ldr. Buuuut it was the way gyu ho might even try just for go young. Like you can see how madly inlove gyu ho was with him! I'm sure he would give the world to him! But as go young said himself, he still needed to find himself and maybe he still wasn't ready. But I really wanted them endgame sooo maybe a special ep to see them get together? I honestly don't need another season (unless this isnt the whole story from the novel) because everything felt right already.

Unafraid, Unapologetic and Raw

After a long time I have watched a series that left me completely satisfied. The writer, director, creative team, actors, producers all did a phenomenal job of bringing a complicated subject on screen in the most poetic way. I commend their bravery that they could look beyond the hate.
The story is a unique exploration of one man's inner world while he navigates through his identity and tries to find love in a big, brutal city. He stumbles, makes mistakes of gigantic proportion which leaves him broken and scarred for life. Yet he stands up, fumbles but steadily moves forward. The story explores this journey and shows many things which generally is off limit for romance dramas. It bravely discards the theory of love heals all! Love doesn't. In fact misplaced love can scar and damage someone beyond retribution. Through the struggles and triumphs of a gay man's love life, the drama taps into this often unexplored side of romance.
All the actors acted brilliantly. The production quality was top notch and the star of the show was the screenplay where it did not drop for a single second. I commend the creators again for creating such magic on screen.

I expect more, tbh...

The story was good... and also bad, there were some dull moments or should I say nonsense(?) Idk, It could have been better. I'm still trying to understand the story, from my own observation, every man he dated was slowly becoming him, unconciously. I was shocked when the first man died because that was too early. For the second guy, the pacing was so fast, no story happens between them. I thought the third guy will be his partner until the end, their story was by far the most interesting. As for the last guy(I think it's safe to say that he is the last guy because he thinks of him until the end) their love story deserved a sequel, atleast. I was kinda sad that he ended up single until the end, it was like an open ending and I hope they give a continuation.

I was just amazed that they included the important thing in this series, they show how HIV/AIDS can be not transmitted through using condoms and taking antiviral drugs. I just wish they emphasized it more so that more people can be knowledgable about this. A person with HIV also deserve a happy life, noo matter what they did in the past, they also didn't want to have that, unfortunately, things happen and we cannot reverse it.

Heartbreaking fr

So, the second I opened the first episode I knew it’s gonna be sad. I have this feeling for Korean bls. But I would say this was a real bl, more like a drama with gay people, can’t really explain. The first boy,the second one and the last one they all made me feel „he’s the right one“ but my opinions changed every time. I cried when die first one died, I was mad at the second one. And I miss the last one, I feel like it was the right person but wrong time. I hate the ending. I really wished for an happy ending couple, he deserved it, he will miss the last guy for probably forever.
I wouldn’t rewatch cause It’s to sad for me.
This drama was very different to other bls, it gave me another vibe, but I knew since the beginning I will cry and k will hate the ending. That’s why im always scared of Korean bls. It’s a must see show, it really touched me

Touching sad love story without an definite ending

First of all: I´m done watching this drama now for the second time. I´ve watched it first, when it was released, and came now back at it after a year had passed. Nonetheless was I emotional touched by this sad love story again. I cried many times while emphasising with the main character. We get to experience the story of him being in varous relationships.
Me being a straight woman, I have no prejudice against gay stories. But honestly I think love is a theme that everyone can emphasise with. The main actor himself said in an interview, that it´s ultimatly a story of a human in the search of love.
I like it very much, because it´s not like the typical KDrama Love romance, but it´s also not a raunchy gay film with to much intimicy only for shock value. While it´s gay themed, it thouches also some theames of the gay comunity. But not to heavily, for not scaring the casuel audience away.

Story: Not many dramas for this kind of journey to love story in a straight context, so it´s kinda refreshing and you can hardly compare it to other korean dramas. It was very well depicted, and I didn´t mind the overlaping timelines in the last episodes. 10/10
Acting/Cast: The main actor is a very good one. He played very well. Some other actors played their roles stiff or overacted sometimes. All in all, a good cast. 8/10
Music: Good acustical music well suited for each scene. No outstandig pop titles or balads. Good choice! 8/10
Rewatch Value: I did rewatch it and would even recomend the title. 10/10

Their is no real ending for this drama, it´s open. I would love to see a season 2. But some stories are best left in the open. Maybe the story is fine as it is. And after the backlash the main actor Nam Yoon-su has been given, I highly doubt a second season. But I love his unapologetic attitute!

Ko Yeong's heartbreaking journey

,,Wth or without it, you are still you "
This sentence is painful memorie stuck in my mind after finishing this series. So let's start from the beginning, Ko Yeong is a gay who's trying to hides this from people on campus and family, but he has his three AMAZING gay friends with whom he likes to party at a gay club. And in this series main lead will go though few relationships, we will see his strugles, happy moment and of course we'll see character personality development and journey with all the adversities.
There is also his female friend Mi Ae and i personalny like her very much she is spontaneous, confindent , funny, but she got's her demons two . When the two characters had their scenes while living together i loved their chemistry and how this friendship grew. But the series is not all sugar coated so both of them also have their ups and downs together.

SO this is the part that I can't stop thinking [spoiler]
When Yeong met Gyu Ho , you could feel the chemistry from the beginning and i was soooo happy he finally found someone who will love him and wont be embarrassed to go out and let him be Simple himself. The where made for each other. They had their problems especially Yeong was feeling guilty bc of Keylie. But overall their relationship was finally getting better, they where supossed to go to China together but Keylie messed that up. I am just angory why wouldn't they try long distance relationship but okey When Yeong drops Gyu Ho at the airport he stupidly didin't say anything and i cried as i saw Gyu Ho's heart was broken intro pieces, he cut all ties with him.y
So again my herbat was broken their hearts were broken but i had Hope he'll be back and at the end both of them will have a happy ending but no.
And i kinda think the producer made an OPEN ENDING for us because last episode is full of their memories from their trip to Bangkok, and when after Yeong's mother funreal he and his friends went to the club the bartender told him that Gyu Ho asked him to give drink to Yeong every time he showed up, Gyu could call that bartender friend anytime and tell him to stop but he didin't he still cared for his ex-lover. And we knows from bartender that Gyu will be back soon in Korea for some buisness at the end of last episode we know Yeong still is in love with him so maybe there is a chance they'll met again and work this out.

I think it might be true. When you have the open ending you can create your own ending.
And honestly the ending for may was unacceptable bc majority of us wanted them to be together at the end (and i was hopping Gyu will show up at the end ), but in my opinion it was good ending afterall, we got the unbreakable friendship and open ending for Yeong and GyuHo's love.
I can't find any other words to explain it, yea ,,Love in the big city'' was heartbreaking, realistic masterpiece and i love it. It kills me but this is not a typical romantic comedy this series show us real life strugles and afterall life is not always as we planned and the series is showing all of the aspects of real life.

If you liked this series i can recommend ,,the director who buys me dinner'' it's also heartbreaking but i think is worth watching
