Enjoyable revenge-themed modern mini drama
I love mini dramas because of its pacing. I was excited to watch this because of Hong Xiao (You Complete Me being my favourite work of hers because her acting in one particular scene made me cry and love her outfits in that mini drama) and Dai Gao Zheng (curious to see his work after Maid's Revenge, which I disliked). After completing this mini drama, I'd say I enjoy this series more than Maid's Revenge and Revenge of Begonia. What I liked:
1) Romance - I liked the chemistry between Hong Xiao & Dai Gao Zheng - there were enough tension between them and once they got together, I was still interested in their dynamics. It's great to see different types of romance scenes e.g. soul-baring on bed, happy & playful rain in the afternoon scene. Their kisses are steamy too.
2) Acting - I like Hong Xiao and Dai Gao Zheng's acting. They showed enough vulnerability (I loved that both actors cried for the soul-baring confession on bed scene). It's great to see Dai Gao Zheng playing a boss that kicks ass but is a softie when it comes to his woman.
3) Action scenes - I like the action scenes. Dai Gao Zheng did a lot of fights in this drama.
4) Production value - Looks like a high production value because the set design, stunts and outfits were well done.
What I disliked:
1) Ji Lin Jiang - It was quite obvious that he was the villain but gosh his character was over-the-top / caricature.
2) Grandpa Ji - I don't understand why he gave a harsh punishment to Song Si Pu! Perhaps it's a scene created so Dai Gao Zheng could go topless.
3) Styling for Ji Chan / Min Jing Shu - I know Hong Xiao is petite so she wore really high heels for most of her scenes. Some dresses, especially in the first few episodes, didn't look great on her. However there is one outfit that stands out for the right reason - the all white ensemble she wore when she & Song Si Pu were baring their souls.
Favourite scene:
The soul-baring confession on bed

what a disappointment
We can never have our expectations too high for a short drama, but at first I thought this could be interestingBut same old plot and cliché
Stupid and annoying FL misunderstanding ML (some of this could have been avoided if ML had talked to her and explain, I acknowledge that). Believing and being manipulated by the SML. she was annoying from almost beginning to end. Stupid choices too. Annoying sister. The plot just turned out very annoying to me and not enough romance ? . Maybe if I haven’t watched other similar short drama, maybe I could have enjoy more
too bad, the leads actually look so good together and I think they have chemistry
the fact that ML wasn’t a red flag here too
Keept watching and following the drama only for ML actor.
I think the acting was okay and I loved the ost. not ML is always a + 😂😂😂
happy ending too I guess ? but why always these kind of ending ? ML dying, not explanation or something. time jump, ML is totally fine and they dump the happy ending

Twin trouble, murder mayhem and a beautiful BGM
Okay, so we’re working with another “new identity + revenge” formula, but hear me out—it tried to dodge the usual cliché traps. No lookalike-sister, Instead, we get a face reconstruction twist in a twin setup, and honestly that was refreshing. Now, mix that with a fight for the heir’s throne and two tangled love triangles for a spicy hot pot.BUT, the plot moved like it had dial-up internet and misunderstandings took their leisure time to subside. Also, someone PLEASE explain to me the law and order system in these Chinese dramas. Like, how is the villain out here committing serial murders with his shiny mini katana and somehow still roaming free? Meanwhile, our leads have to conduct their own FBI-level investigation, find evidence, set up PowerPoint presentations, and probably submit a written application before saying, “Hey, he might be the killer.” like there is no police station or investigation agency in the town.
Sir, this isn’t petty theft—someone literally died, and still no cops, no court, no investigation? Wild.
Now let’s talk cast—
Dai Gao & Hong Xiao: my long-awaited power pairing since Revenge of Begonia, and they did not disappoint. Hong Xiao, the visual goddess that she is, served versatility with elegance. Enters as Seductress? Check. Then turns Pitiful blind woman? Check. Later into Conflicted heiress? Protective sister? Daring lover ready to kill? Check, check, check.
Dai Gao? A certified gentleman throughout. Usually, his roles come with some "bad boy turned soft" but here? Full-on green flag from start to finish.
Now, let me bless your ears with the true MVP of the series:
BGM – “Love Is Back”
Go to YouTube and thank me later. That song? Chef’s kiss.
Final Verdict:
Would I watch it again? Nah.
Would I recommend it? Yes ( cry out loud)
Did I enjoy it despite its chaos? Absolutely
Score: Solid 7 to 7.5/10
Not perfect, but definitely a guilty pleasure done right.

Sweet Sweet Revenge!
This year has been filled with delicious sexy revenge c-dramas and i have been here for it! Fatal Allure was a must watch for me since we have Dai Gaozheng and Hong Xiao co-starring in a revenge drama romance. I loved every ep of it, and i love the way Dai Gao`s character was a sharp hero, though he was deadly...he would rather cut his right arm off than ever hurting his beautiful tortured heroine. I love that he stood by her side the moment he knew her true identity, poor smitten fool could not live without her. And the kissess were omg smoking! Felt like he was literally sipping her lips!!Was this review helpful to you?
Mad chemistry between the leads couldn’t over come bad storytelling
And that’s basically the gist of this story. The leads smoldered. I hope they will have the opportunity to work together again in another series that’s better written. As most of the characters actions in this made no sense and was only there to serve the plot which was very weak. This had nearly all the fundamentals of a bad soap opera. Facial reconstruction. Long lost sisters showing up from the grave. The inevitable unrequited love that turns into obsession and in turn fatalism. The star-crossed lovers who can’t make a sound decision to save their lives. And of course a conspiracy and subsequent revenge plot that made little sense. The episodes are short. So this is easy to get through. The acting was alright. The leads were the stand out as they really sold the passion between their characters. Again the chemistry between them was palpable. Great job Dai Gao Zhang and Hong Xiao. However, this was not a good series. Was this review helpful to you?

Too many crazy plots/intrigues
I review these type of dramas on their own scale. Can't really rate this up against for example "The Worst of Evil", lol.Don't watch if male dominance triggers you.
*** I ended up dropping this after watching just over 20 episodes. It got too crazy/plot heavy for me - just relying on intrigues, dominance and attractive (?) cast. ***

A Missed Opportunity: Tired Tropes and Unused Talent
Having watched Maid’s Revenge and Forever Love, I found that both offered much stronger storylines than this drama. While the lead actor has undeniable charm and talent, it often feels like his potential is wasted as he’s reduced to just eye candy. The plot relies heavily on tired tropes—revenge, the male lead rescuing the female lead, and the female lead consistently getting into trouble. Many of his recent dramas seem to follow this repetitive formula, leaving little room for fresh, engaging narratives.Story-wise, this drama felt boring to me. Despite my initial reservations, I stuck with it rather than dropping it midway, but ultimately, it failed to captivate. If the focus shifted towards more innovative storytelling and truly leveraging the actor’s abilities, it might have stood out from the crowd.

Decent, started stronger than it ended
This drama was captivating at the beginning and I absolutely loved it. It was action packed and tense and full of twists and turns that kept me invested. As it went on, it dragged a bit and just wasn't as well written, so the later episodes ruined it a bit and lowered my rating but it was still a decent drama overall, just flawed and not as good as it could be because it had a lot of potential. The actors were good choices imo and the music was good too. I was left disappointed but it could have been worse! Was this review helpful to you?
Please watch
The male lead is very handsome, but I pity him because he’s always injured in his dramas saving the female lead☹️I always like the chemistry of the drama especially when Gao Zheng is the actor. You watch this and all of his dramas. It’s worth to watch. However, I don’t like the second female lead to be also partner with Gao Zheng as female lead. It so cringe that you see the cast you hated to be a lead. Just a drama thoughts. Was this review helpful to you?
Excited
Ever since Revenge of Begonia, I have been a Hong Xiao fan girl. I have just started watching Fatal Allure and know it will be great. Dai Gao Zheng is great and sexy in every drama and haven't found where he doesn't connect with his FL. I am looking forward to this drama because the start of caught my attention right off the bat. I have been enthralled without looking away since the 4th episode. I know Chinese culture is different than the US, but I would have told gramps to go eff himself. Was this review helpful to you?
