who wrote the script for the female lead?

for the life of me I can’t figure out what roams around in the head of this vacuous creature. The ml is a great actor because he convinces me that he actually likes the fl. I can scarcely finish it because of her but I watch only to see more of the ml. Sketchy story. Predictable but unlikely. Relationship drags on to what end? Woman is so toxic to the real crises in his life yet we are to believe their relationship is healthy on some level? I’ll muscle through since I’m at the end but I’ll look for the ml in other more enjoyable roles.

The noble idiocy trope is strong in this one

There were 29 episodes at approximately 40 minutes each, but this show is a five. It really can’t be any higher than that.
Even though the cast is absolutely first class and the FL is very cute and stunning it fails to deliver and has a lot of problematic elements.
It starts off good. Not strong but good.. we see the FL planning to visit her brother in Thailand but being informed by her mother that he’s actually not her biological brother. She still goes to see him despite the shock and from the moment she lays eyes on him again after their enforced separation she immediately developed romantic interest in him.
I can see this being really problematic for a lot of viewers, but I can get over this. It’s not a big problem.
Next we watch them slowly forming a bond and getting together with her being overly clingy towards him.
He then gets involved in an accident which nearly takes his life and cripples him and he breaks up with her “for her own good”. We’ve all heard and seen this kind of noble active idiocy and they are then separated for six years while she goes back to Canada to look after a sick Mum and goes to study..
They then reunite in China and she becomes really petty immature and ridiculous by getting back at him by telling him she’s marrying somebody else which clearly causes him pain but they seem to just completely brush over this act of vindictiveness. Let me tell you this stuff is not cute it’s not clever it’s not entertaining. It’s just petty and frankly it shows poor character if people find this kind of stuff entertaining..
Anyway, they get together and he even wins over her mother and they live happily ever after. Actually, it’s all a bit meh when I think about it.

An Unmissable Masterpiece of Emotion and Action of Adopted Siblings Falling in Love

Wow, Speed and Love is an absolute gem. From the start, this drama captivated me in a way very few shows do. He Yu as Jin Zhao delivers a performance that is both quiet and commanding, a man shaped by hardship yet irresistibly magnetic. Every fight scene in the boxing ring feels visceral and real, each punch, kick, and move executed with precision and power that leaves you holding your breath.

Paired with Esther Yu as Jiang Mu, the chemistry is undeniable. Her innocence and charm perfectly balance Jin Zhao’s intensity, creating a pairing that is impossible to look away from. The racing car sequences are some of the most thrilling I’ve ever seen, wild, fast, and exhilarating, making your heart race right along with the characters.

This show is impossible to put down. The slow-burning romance, the emotional depth, and the breathtaking scenes in Thailand all come together flawlessly. It’s a story of courage, determination, and love that resonates deeply, making it one of my favorite shows of the year. With its perfect blend of action, emotion, and romance, Speed and Love is an absolute must-watch.

I binged over ten episodes in one sitting, and I can confidently say it is a 10/10. Every moment is unforgettable, every scene hits hard, and the story stays with you long after it ends.

The Best of the Best ever watched

This drama made me log in to my Drama List and comment in the comment section for the first time ever. I have seen all sorts of dramas from Pakistani, Indian, Turkish, Thai, Korean and Chinese. This year Chinese dramas have made me too addictive starting from First Frost in the first half, Prisoner of Beauty in the middle and now Speed and Love in the last.

I will truly say I didn’t even expect some ML will truly top Sang Yan for me but now I think Jin Zhao did. Sorry Sang Yan but you will remain my Green Forest forever.
I don’t have much to say about the drama itself. Just wanted to express my feelings to explain how this drama made feel.
I found everything perfect Esther and He yu’s acting, both arcs and I fell for He yu too for the first time ever.
Just my last wish please I want to see all the deleted scenes and wedding scenes so bad. May my wish come true.

So-so

Okay. Speed and love. I had high expectations. But it wasn't met. I'm not sure if any of you knows Forbidden flower, Taiwanese drama by Jerry Yan. The vibes started similar to the forbidden flower. Mature guy X cheerful female lead. However, I think it became too slow paced. Like the story is dragging. I mean they officially started dating at ep 15, I think. For a 29 episode drama. That's too slow paced. It lacked in a lot of things. Just when I think I'm about to cry, my tears doesn't come out cause the emotional rising gets cut. Like, the pacing should be at a high emotional part then suddenly, Na-da. Visually, top-notch but don't you think that there's too many cast but so little time to dive into their stories. In fact, the story revolved on the 2 main leads but their emotional capacity to deliver each scene feels lacking. The only time where I was smiling ear to ear is when they're kissing or flirting but that's not how it's supposed to be. If that is the only part where I feel elated, it means, the story itself is subpar. And to think this drama have too much hype compared to how it should be. Either way, this one is good only as YT shorts or tiktok clip but to watch the entire drama, it's not worth it.

Siblings but not really siblings....

I wanted to like Speed and Love, and the beginning had some charm, but I really couldn’t get past the main premise. The leads growing up as siblings—even though they’re not blood-related—felt uncomfortable and borderline incestuous, which overshadowed any chemistry the show tried to build. I will not deny the leads had chemistry but this girl literally saw him as her brother up until the middle of the story. I couldn't get past that.

The story lost momentum around the middle and became completely boring by the time the leads got together. I also hate the whole "I'm leaving you now because it's for your own good" trope.

The acting was fine, except for the fact that I was annoyed by Esther Yu's acting throughout the drama. She can act without a doubt, just didn't like her in this one. The production and music were competent, but the premise just ruined it for me. Overall, it was an okay drama, just not for me.

Sorry but good riddance

Maybe my review is overly harsh, but I was looking forward to this drama only to be super disappointed. Great acting, chemistry, aesthetic cinematography, and some angst/cute moments here and there but overall the writing and characters sucked.

Mumu is among the top, if not the top, of my list of most useless female leads. I’m not a fan of super cutesy types, but I tried to give the benefit of the doubt. But all she did was be cute. After going to Thailand to find her “brother” without any warning, I feel like she was just someone who was constantly spoiled and accommodated for. Her dad’s second wife and daughter were so kind to her, but I barely saw any moments where she would get close to them. They were all just coexisting but so close/courteous, it felt like a very convenient plot hole to skip over.

Everything else was ML taking care of her, doting on her despite his own worries, but also never telling her. She took a foundation language course, learned how to drive, but is all of a sudden super talented with drifting with just her dad’s verbal knowledge and one class to draw a heart. How she managed to survive and fund her cute clothes and everything else without a job (unless we count others conveniently paying or caring for her) I have no idea.

Everything else was cringey. I skimmed so much of the cliche plots, with the bad boy fighting and racing. The drama really dragged. They had finally started dating around ep 15, then we find more details on why ML is still doing dangerous activities despite not needing the money anymore. The communication was so one-sided or indirect, everything being hidden to “protect” her or “for her own good” was also annoying and dragged the conflict on even more. The mixed signals, lies, and push and pull were also annoying.

The FL was only less naive, useless, and cutesty post break up, but it was disappointing to see how a breakup and separation would really lead to her growing up. It was really all the little things in this drama. It totally makes sense for JZ’s doc to breaks patient confidentiality (unless that’s different in China) to tell her about his condition and give her his medical records. He wasn’t going to tell her about his pain otherwise. Again with the communication. Also it totally makes sense for her to help with his rehab.

15 ep to date, 5 ep of whatever they did dating and racecar and investigation bs, and the rest are post breakup/reunion/reconciliation bs. “Proper” communication probably happened around ep 25. The last few ep’s were more enjoyable. Then they added Wan Qing there (which didn’t make sense to me since it never showed what happened to her after the race and her dad’s toxic business). The pacing felt really slow then fast and all over the place. There’s still some loose ends and unanswered q’s… at least it’s a happy ending

A beautiful emotional roller coaster

i have been watching Esther Yu and He Yu for quite a few years now. This is by far one of their best performances. perfect blend of romance, drama, emotions and comedy. gets you hooked and the next thing you know, you would be binge watching. this comment is coming from a person who has watched 200+ dramas so far. Also, it’s definitely not light hearted, so watch if and only if you are ok to get emotional. Special shout out to Qi Ming for doing an amazing supporting role. Felt so happy to watch Mike Angelo. it’s been a while since I watched his series/movie. so it was a great treat for me

IN DARKNESS, THERE'S ALWAYS A LIGHT TO GUIDE YOU OUT.

'SPEED AND LOVE' is a rare C- drama that feels more like a movie than a series. The chemistry between Esther Yu and He Yu is absolutely fire; they perfectly capture that 'long-lost soulmate' tension, and their 'stare-downs' and quiet moments feel very high-stakes. Esther Yu shows so much growth here in a more mature role, and He Yu is definitely a new favorite as his portrayal of Jin Zhao is raw and protective. The soundtrack and cinematography are top-tier, making even the quiet moments feel intense.

The Thailand episodes are stunning. It has a gritty, cinematic film look rather than a typical bright TV soap vibe. The main leads transition from impulsive teenagers to stable adults, making their final reunion feel earned. Also, the FL is the one chasing and saving the ML, which is a refreshing change in pace. The racing and underground boxing scenes are well-choreographed and add great intensity.

However, at first, I didn't want to watch it because of the forbidden romance tag or the 'pseudo-sibling' set-up, but eventually I forced myself to watch it, which was really worth it. Also, there are moments where the characters break up 'for others' own good'(Noble Idiocy), which was frustrating for me, who prefers direct communication.

Lastly, I recommend it if you love stories about healing, second chances, and forbidden tropes done with actual depth.(✿◡‿◡)

More dysfunctional nonsense

ML tells her “If you decide to be with me , you don’t get to change your mind”, gives her a symbol of great love and then abandons her because life gets hard. It was a lie. FL character has zero self-respect. She just pines for bro who lied to her nd pretended to never want to leave her, then she starts trying to go free him, again. This isn’t romantic, it’s not romantic to let yourself be lied to and uncared for. It’s just more drivel about how women should tolerate anything and not love themselves.

THIS DRAMA VERY INTERESTING ~

So far, I've really enjoyed the acting of the cast, especially the female lead. Wow, she portrayals her character in another level~ really good actress! so fitting and enjoyable to watch. The storyline is quite engaging. The emotions are conveyed to the audience and are easy to understand. The cinematography is also very beautiful. The scene transitions are very enjoyable and deserve my attention. You should also try watching this!!! :')
