Pursuit of Jade Episode 12 Reactions
This is hands down the best C-drama I’ve seen in 2026! The cast is phenomenal, and the main character absolutely shines—especially with their co-lead, who together have unmatched chemistry. They are easily the best on-screen couple of the year. The director’s work is top-tier, with action scenes that are incredibly well-executed and visually stunning. The cinematography is flawless, making every episode a treat to watch. Each episode keeps getting better, and the action continues to impress. I also appreciate the fast-paced storyline and that they stayed true to the original book with only minimal changes. This drama sets a new standard for the genre!

First Impression
This episode is jam packed: clever business ideas, gossip getting shut down, mysterious men, missing children, and a hilarious fake husband situation.

Episode Thoughts
Episode 12 opens with Manager Yu once again proving she’s incredibly business savvy. She suggests adding calligraphy to the FL’s meat packaging, which unexpectedly turns the ML into a bit of a local celebrity.
🪷
Suddenly ladies and even scholars are showing up just to admire and collect his beautiful calligraphy. Who knew the butcher shop would become the most cultured place in town?
🪷
We also get a very satisfying moment when the ex-fiancé’s mother gets a well deserved verbal slap down. She simply cannot stop gossiping.
🪷
Unfortunately for her, the mysterious man overhears her talking badly and immediately orders someone to warn her about her behaviour.
🪷
Honestly… priceless.
🪷
Manager Yu then finds herself in real trouble when a drunk customer tries to attack her. Thankfully the mysterious man appears and rescues her.
🪷
But instead of relief, Manager Yu looks uneasy around him.
🪷
Which raises even more questions.
🪷
It looks like he could be the father of her son, but their relationship is clearly complicated. Manager Yu doesn’t seem comfortable or safe around him.
🪷
The mention of the Prince’s Mansion also makes things even stranger. If the boy is connected to the prince, that would make him royal.
🪷
So who exactly is this man?
🪷
Meanwhile the little boy and the FL’s little sister quickly become friends while playing together. Their innocent fun quickly turns into panic when both children suddenly disappear.
🪷
Both Manager Yu and the FL are terrified.
🪷
Manager Yu’s reaction is particularly telling. She’s incredibly harsh with her son when they’re looking for him, which shows just how deep her fear runs. Whatever happened in her past clearly left serious scars.
🪷
Elsewhere the ML’s quiet plotting begins to bear fruit when soldiers arrive looking to purchase grain. It seems the plans he’s been putting together are moving faster than expected.
🪷
The episode ends with a surprisingly funny moment.
🪷
Manager Yu admits she’s afraid of the mysterious man and asks the FL if she can borrow her husband — the ML — to pretend to be her husband to help deal with the situation.
🪷
Honestly… I did not see that coming.
🪷
But I’m definitely curious to see how that plays out.
🪷
Favourite Moment
ML unintentionally becoming popular because everyone wants his calligraphy.

Very Qianqian-centric episode! We finally got to learn more about her past. I am not sure yet if the grey-haired man, Qi Min, is the one she's been hiding from, but she feels like she knows him and has those nightmares where he's in a mask.
She said he had a different voice and a scarred face back then... so I wonder, maybe some magical medicine cured the man? He seems very possessive of her, obsessed even. Not sure if that can be called love, but we'll see. He has such a scary aura and a chilling way of talking. Also, it looks like he's sick, coughing from time to time—I wonder if he coughs blood? It wasn't really shown yet.
But I loved how he dealt with the drunkard Mr. Wu and that gossiper Mrs. Sang! They both deserved every bit of that and much more for everything they did.
Ning and Bao Er were so cute together! I really loved the part when the kids ran from room to room—the camera work was amazing there. I was so scared for them when Qi Min heard that noise while they were hiding in the chest... omg, I prayed they would be fine! Thanks to that random man who accidentally pushed the lantern, they were. Phew... Zheng found them in the most adorable "sleep-together" afterward. :)
Chang Yu's jealousy bits were perfect! Let's see how she'll act when her husband pretends to be Qianqian's husband. That is, if he agrees...

Episode 12 is packed with cute chaos, a sprinkle of mystery, and visuals that might as well come with a warning label because Zhang Ling He is once again dangerously handsome. One of the first highlights has to be Xie Zheng unintentionally turning the Fan family meat shop into the hottest spot in town. The man was simply selling meat yet somehow managed to gather a crowd of fangirls eager to buy anything as long as he served them personally. Honestly, girls, I relate. Chang Yu’s reaction watching all these women line up for her husband was priceless and Tian Xi Wei absolutely nailed every expression. Her face alone could carry a comedy scene and she looked ridiculously pretty while doing it. As for Zhang Ling He, he continues to serve visuals like it is part of his job description. I dare say Xie Zheng might be his most handsome costume drama role so far. Then comes the sugar rush of the episode with Chang Ning and Yu Qian Qian’s son, Yu Bao Er. Their first meeting quickly turned into a full blown kid adventure around the restaurant as they ran around playing hide and seek like two tiny tornadoes. The cutest moment arrives when they hide inside a chest to avoid Qi Min and end up falling asleep, with Chang Ning sleeping comfortably in Yu Bao Er’s arms. My heart practically did a little somersault. I cannot help but wonder if the writers are planting tiny seeds for a future connection between them, though the family titles might become a bit of a brain teaser since Yu Qian Qian is Chang Yu’s friend. Will Chang Ning call her older sister or mother in law someday? Perhaps that is exactly why the drama cleverly has Chang Ning call her Lady Fairy instead. Speaking of heart melting moments, the scene where the three of them walk home from the restaurant deserves its own round of applause. Chang Ning says she is sleepy, Chang Yu casually tells Xie Zheng that her sister is tired, and our man immediately gets the hint and carries her. It was cute on so many levels. The Fan siblings finally have a little family dynamic going on and someone they can rely on. Chang Ning now has a protective big brother figure and Chang Yu has someone who shares the burden with her. Also, Zhang Ling He carrying a small child is basically a cheat code for instant cuteness. But the episode is not just sweetness and comedy. We also get a fascinating glimpse into the mysterious connection between Yu Qian Qian and Qi Min. At first it seems strange that Yu Qian Qian does not recognize him at all, but it turns out the Qi Min she once knew always wore a mask, and the man from her past apparently had a scar and a different voice. Clearly there is a complicated history waiting to explode and I am very curious to see what really happened between them. Deng Kai continues to be the most charming walking red flag in the drama. As Qi Min he feels ruthless, obsessive, borderline psychotic, and extremely possessive of Yu Qian Qian, which explains why she is constantly fearful and protective of both herself and her son. Yet somehow Deng Kai brings this undeniable allure to the role. It is that classic bad boy charm that makes you shake your head at yourself while still being intrigued by the villain. Toxic? Absolutely. Entertaining? Also absolutely. I am both nervous and excited to see how his obsessive dynamic with Yu Qian Qian unfolds because this relationship is clearly sitting on a powder keg.
