Pursuit of Jade Episode 13 Reactions
This is hands down the best C-drama I’ve seen in 2026! The cast is phenomenal, and the main character absolutely shines—especially with their co-lead, who together have unmatched chemistry. They are easily the best on-screen couple of the year. The director’s work is top-tier, with action scenes that are incredibly well-executed and visually stunning. The cinematography is flawless, making every episode a treat to watch. Each episode keeps getting better, and the action continues to impress. I also appreciate the fast-paced storyline and that they stayed true to the original book with only minimal changes. This drama sets a new standard for the genre!

Episode Thoughts
Another busy episode with multiple storylines moving forward.
🪷
The episode opens with the FL trying to figure out how she’s going to explain to the ML that she essentially loaned him out to Manager Yu for the day. At first ML doesn’t seem too bothered… until he finds out who he’ll be meeting.
🪷
Enter the mysterious man connected to the grain.
🪷
Their meeting immediately turns into a quiet power struggle. Both men are testing each other, and it quickly becomes clear that the mysterious man already knows ML’s true identity. He’s clearly trying to sway ML to his side, which raises even more questions about his real position. At this point I’m convinced he has to be a prince or someone extremely high ranking.
🪷
Back in the village, after ML rescued Manager Yu, she can’t help but ask the FL how far their marriage has actually progressed. It’s a funny moment but also reveals a lot about the FL’s feelings.
🪷
She’s starting to fall deeply for him, but she also believes that one day he’ll leave. Rather than forcing him to stay, she seems determined to accept things as they are.
🪷
Their sweet moments together while ML writes festival couplets show just how comfortable they’ve become around each other.
🪷
Even more amusing is the return of the gossiping granny. After causing so much trouble before, she suddenly does a complete turnaround and now wants ML to write a festival couplet for her.
🪷
The butcher shop has officially become the village cultural center.
🪷
We also get a short but very important scene back at court.
🪷
The Royal Princess is summoned to see her mother, who makes it very clear she will never allow the Princess to be involved with the academy’s headmaster. Apparently an imperial decree is involved, though the details are still unclear.
🪷
Then comes the real shock.
🪷
The Princess is actually betrothed to the ML.
🪷
Which is going to cause some serious problems once the FL eventually discovers ML’s true identity.
🪷
To finish things off, the Prime Minister is back plotting again, clearly unhappy that his larger plans are being disrupted.
🪷
At this point it’s becoming harder and harder to tell who the real villain is.
🪷
And that tension is exactly what’s making this drama so addictive.
🪷
Favourite Moment
The power play meeting between ML and the mysterious man.
🪷
Trope Check
• Hidden identity ML
• Political power struggle
• Village life vs court intrigue
• Growing romance
• Childhood betrothal reveal
• Suspicious royal politics

Seeing Xie Zheng and Qi Min in one frame is really bad for my health hhhh. I can't breath. They are literally breathtaking. When Xie Zheng broke the choopstick and throw it to Qi Min's guard alone is already made me shiver. And lastly we got a warm New year eve. Love how director shoot this scene. It's so warm

This show surprises me more and more with every episode. I love the games everyone is playing, the pieces being moved, the lies being fed, and all the backstabbing.
This episode was beautiful in many ways, especially watching how deeply in love Chang Yu and Yan Zheng are. The preparation for the New Year was so heartwarming. It was so nice to see Zheng agree to write blessings for the whole village—including Granny Keng! Even though he stated before that he doesn’t do things on demand, only when he wants to, he did it for them.
If I understood correctly, is Qi Min a former Crown Prince of Changzhou? Was he the prince who was caught in the fire with the Marquis’s father? That would definitely explain the possible scars! I have to say—if Qi Min and the Marquis of Wu’an team up, I am so for it! They could be the "baddest of the bad" on the battlefield. That’s exactly what I want to see from freedom fighters: going all-in against the enemy. The only concern now is making sure Qi Min doesn't betray our Zheng.
I cannot wait for the next episode and many more after that. I need to see what happens next!

Yes, the new year couplets scenes, very beautiful and serene yet feels very sad for both of them. One have to leave anyway and one knows that the day is coming but can't help for falling deeper. And I wish all the wars over.

Episode 13 started with pure comedy gold and honestly I was laughing way harder than expected. Chang Yu asking Xie Zheng to pretend to be Yu Qian Qian’s husband just to scare Qi Min away was already hilarious, but her sparkly little “she paid me 30 taels” explanation took it to another level. Xie Zheng’s face when he realized his own wife basically rented him out had me cackling. The disbelief, the silent suffering, the whole “did my wife just sell me?” energy was priceless. Uncle and Madam Zhao standing there like an audience enjoying the drama only made it better. Of course, our dear Marquis Wu’an didn’t agree just out of kindness. Xie Zheng definitely had his own agenda regarding Qi Min, and their first proper encounter did not disappoint. The moment Qi Min saw him, he immediately knew this was Xie Zheng, and suddenly the atmosphere turned from comedy to two dangerously handsome men measuring each other up. Honestly it felt like a visual duel. Two hot men, one tea table, and a whole lot of silent calculations. The conversation was short but intense. Xie Zheng looked calm, charismatic, and completely in control while Qi Min was clearly trying to process the situation in real time. After that meeting, Qi Min wisely stayed away from Yu Qian Qian’s restaurant and only sent someone to keep watch, choosing instead to focus on persuading Xie Zheng to work with him. This side of Qi Min is actually quite interesting because he seems less like a lovesick obsessive and more like a politically driven strategist. Dare I say he even seems reasonable right now? Maybe I’m being fooled, but I’m definitely curious to learn more about him. The rest of the episode gave us plenty of fluffy Xie Zheng and Chang Yu moments and my heart was eating it up like comfort food. Watching Xie Zheng patiently teach Chang Ning how to write while Chang Yu looked on with that soft, warm expression was such a wholesome moment. You can really feel how much happiness this little family brings her. And then we have the mighty and ruthless Marquis Wu’an casually writing Chinese New Year couplets for the entire neighborhood just to make Chang Yu proud. Sir really said “fearsome war hero by day, community calligraphy volunteer by night.” It was adorable. But then the ending came in like the ultimate joykill. Chang Yu gathered all her courage to say she wanted to consummate their marriage and maybe even make a baby, but fireworks interrupted the moment before she could get the words out. So what does she do? She drinks for courage. Naturally she gets drunk instead, tries to kiss Xie Zheng, and just when their lips are about to meet... the episode ends. Ends! Right there! I was screaming internally. This is emotional damage. I needed that kiss and now I have to wait another day? The drama really said patience is a virtue, but my patience is hanging by a thread.
