From Birthday cake to ASHES

Lemme start without beating around the bush with some lil background here. soo our leading lady, Empress Wang Yun Ci, goes from celebrating her birthday to becoming a human barbeque (thanks fire! guh )

But fear not, because the drama gods had other plans. She wakes up mysteriously reborn in the body of Princess Consort Duan, married to her own brother-in-law (insert awkward silence here). Now, convinced this brooding prince offered her for, like, treason or something, she's out to take her REVENGE but lil does she know who the actual ahole is lmfao.

All in all, imma say this drama isn't going to win any awards for historical accuracy, but who cares? but the fact is this drama ultimately falls short of being truly exceptional. However, It's entertaining, its heartwarming (in a weird, dysfunctional way), and the romance is okayish. If you're looking for something to binge-watch with totallyy 0 expectations, then this drama is deff your jam. Just grab some snacks, and prepare to be entertained. With a production that's lit, alright acting of leads & supporting cast & story that's surprisingly nice (romance is missing tho, would have loved to see more of them ;p) To sum it up, TRE is a mini lil package of awesome thats a fun watch but not a MUST watch for sure :3

Signing off,
yours Angel

Brilliant rebirth/revenge-plot costume production

This is a brilliant rebirth/revenge-plot costume production with great actors and a fascinating storyline.

The story is well woven and kept me glued to the screen.
I loved this strong/capable/kind FL and powerful/supportive/nice ML.

The chemistry was off the roof and no one was afraid of a little skinship.

I loved how the ending took me by surprise. Great twist.

it doesn't present a more relevant theme at the end.

In most cases, I tend to watch Chinese dramas in one sitting. When I take time off, I prefer to binge-watch a series in one sitting. I prefer to watch all the episodes in sequence rather than follow daily or weekly releases.

I maintain this habit with the exception of Chinese dramas that are subject to speculation due to some external factor promoting masked marketing, even though they claim it's not a marketing strategy for viewers who are inattentive or attached to fanaticism to the level of idolatry for some entertainment professional.

Since I'm detached from idolatry, the different types of marketing strategies disguised in different forms, which can be called however the viewer wishes, don't fool me.

It's for this reason that I don't mind fanatics who hysterically play the troll card to viewers who assert their right to express their point of view on some production created for entertainment.

For these hysterics, the message is that life goes on, with or without their screams on the internet.

I watched the Chinese drama "Mei Ren Mou" in 2025, despite the mostly negative reviews.

I confess that I also agreed with some comments that associated the drama with a production lacking a sense of emotion and weak plot development.

In my opinion, the flaws in the plot development could have been overcome if the chemistry between the leads had been better presented to the viewers.

The directors and editors failed to adjust the shooting angle to eliminate the leads' apparent difficulty connecting with the characters and the story.

This flaw made watching this drama a somewhat tiring experience. However, although the plot failed to capture my attention from the beginning, I didn't abandon the drama because I didn't find it predictable. And I can certainly admit that this is one of the positive aspects of this drama, given the superficiality of the characters' feelings, which were explored by the director in a way that generates little interest in the main couple.

Overall, in my opinion, it's a time-consuming and unnecessary drama because it doesn't present a more relevant theme at the end.

Meh.

Pros: Storyline flows well, FL is a good actress, costumes and styling and direction are good. And when i say 'good' I don't mean excellent, I just mean decent.

Cons: ML has limited range, supporting cast is full of mediocre performances, bodyswap plot device is tired, skimpy on the spice, lost some of my attention toward about the 2/3rd mark.

All in all, pretty average.

The Rebel Princess is a fantasy historical miniseries about betrayal, transmigration, romance, and getting the opportunity to find the right person in the midst of death and treachery. Although there is a romance plot of missed opportunities and steadfast support, the story is really about Empress Wang Yun Ci. Once betrayed and killed by her beloved Emperor Da Yuan (Xiao Mo) played by Zeng Xi Tang, her soul transmigrated into the body of the Emperor’s lover and (Xiao Che )Prince Duan’s consort Jiang Jin Li played by Shao Yu Qi. Empress Wang Yun Ci’s character is mostly brilliantly played by Shao Yu Qi once the transmigration takes placed, but it is also shortly played by Wu Qian Xin which did a very good job giving the viewer highlight of the Empress’s real self. This drama is well written with a good OST, some action scenes, good cinematography, and a well chosen cast. There are no passionate romantic scenes but the leading couple truly conveyed their deep affection and devotion through great body language and facial expressions. The ending is truly fitted for these star crossed lovers and it gives justice to the leading couple. Overall, this drama has a well developed revenge storyline and a very good romance plot, enjoy it!

Boring

Boring movie with HEA.

Now I know why movie writter tends to prolong the misunderstanding. Because if the conflict solves early, it felt boring. The story missed the 'love hate' relationship after the ML and FL clear their misunderstanding (early in the movie).

The rebirth plot actually interesting. I've watched The Reincarnated Lovers, and I really like that one.
But TRE lack of conflict made the drama less interesting.

but it's still nice to watch if you're just want to relax and wasting your time.
not leave much impression. in fact, it didn't leave any impression at all.
The story lack of emotional conflict that usually there in other historical drama.

HEA. No tragic ending. But I don't feel touched at all (like in the other film).

if I could give the rewatch rating 0, I'll give it 0. But the rating should be minimum 1 star. So I gave it 1.

Felt like sand in my coffee

Though story had a lot of potential with all the revenge rebirth plot and conspiracy theory served to satisfy the viewers, but thanks to the pathetic acting skills it turned into a strange discomfort to watch. I know people have different opinion of a what a "good act" should be like but here I just want to share me own opinion. (And I will support in the end )
1) I can't feel enough rage ..the hellish fury from FL ... Oh come on !! You were burnt to death please be a little angry about it. There were hardly any instance that I can feel she died and she is upset about it. If you can find consider yourself lucky ...

2) The chemistry is quite awkward..taken for instance the parts where FL tends the ML's wounds ... Your lover is almost dead please be more supportive of him ..don't treat him like an untouchable.

3) repeated sniffing is not crying ...of you can't cry properly shut the FU and use tear drops ... Each and everytime he got wounded .. she sniffed the hell out of her nose ...my gosh so irritating.

4) ML wasn't good either he can't kiss. . you don't believe me watch again... And you will know.

I watched "rise from the ashes" practically on the same day I watched this show ... Though both series had almost same plot but the actors in Rise from the ashes acted a hundred times better than these fools ... I recommend you watch it ...you will see what type of rage and fury you missed here. That's a proper revenge rebirth plot
