Okay
"Culinary Vendetta" is a timepass story. I watched it because I liked the main leads; otherwise, there was no spark in it. However, the romantic scenes performed by the male lead were, as always, top-notch. He built up the atmosphere with his performance—so intense and full of emotions, and above all, his cute face. When he pretended to be cute, those scenes were my favorite. It’s a light drama, so don’t expect much from it.

meh...
I started watching this drama because of Yan Zi Xian.I was pleasantly surprised to see the showcase of cooking while the drama didn't have the food genre.
the acting was meh! from everyone!
I think some of the blame should land on directors of the drama since the cast had decent acting in their other projects.
Yan Zi Xian is a good actor and I was impressed with some of his dramas so I don't know why his acting wasn't as good. some of his facial expressions were over the top here.
sad to say that fl's acting was also really butchering this drama!!
you might ask why was I harsher on fl in my review? because she was the focus of the drama! I couldn't connect to her character at all! not romantically and not even her rage. I usually root for revenge but she was acting so flat that I didn't care.
the chemistry of the leads was lacking. their romance felt one sided from ml. and their romantic scenes felt awkward to me.
ml and the princess had more chemistry than him and fl! fl barely shows any emotions for Jun Yao.
along all these complaints, I could say it was refreshing to see a supportive mother in law.
the pacing of the drama was too slow for me so I skipped bits and pieces to be done with this drama and I absolutely would not re watch this drama.
so should you watch it or not?
*if you are new to short cdramas, don't start with this drama!
**if you like either of the cast go ahead and watch it.
***if you are planning to watch this, I have some content warnings for you:
there is SA in ep 1&2.
so proceed with caution if these bothers you.

A Fantastic Series --With a happy ending.
This was excellent! One of the best Mini dramas I have seen this year. It was paced well and ALL the characters were great. Barely any misunderstandings and issues were resolved quickly. The leads were AMAZING! Yan Zi Xian and Chen Fang Tong are SO GOOD at what they do! They know how to dial up the spice and the chemistry was on FIRE! There are plenty of steamy kisses and cute moments between these two. Overall I would have liked the leads to have had more screen time but that really doesn't take anything away from the quality of series, not one little bit. It was excellent from start to finish! -- Just a quick side note if you watch the last episode till the very end you will get two adorable BTS clips with our leads and it includes Eng subs as well. They were just ADORABLE together. 🥰❤Was this review helpful to you?
a good laugh.
when i watch 1st episode i thought the drama gonna be angst with revenge etc... turns out it is more comedy lmao. cant help falling in love with the mother in law (junyao's mother). the comedy part is really funny. i have a good laugh.YZX's character is a green flag. he is not new to comedy, so to me he did well here.
CFT's performance is quite bland. idk why. i have a good impression on her based on her previous dramas. but not in this drama. to make it worst, her character can be frustrating a bit. and it is not getting better at all towards the end.
the plot is simple. straight forward. cliche.
the love seems one sided. FL is selfish.
the villians parts are boring and unnecessarily long. i skip alot thanks to them.
it is a happy ending.
rewatch worthy? only the comedy part.

Comedy vs Drama Badly Fight It Out
My favorite parts of this show were absolutely the comedic portions but the show felt like it didn't know what it actually wanted to do. The beginning episodes feel like a revenge drama with an intense first episode to give the FL meaning to needing to get her vengeance...But then the show flips and it's like "okay... so this is ACTUALLY a comedy?" And the comedy was rather good. Both Yan Zi Xian and Chen Fang Tong are great at comedy and their over the top expressions and actions were a joy to sit through; especially when their two attendants were in the scenes with them.
However, the show had actual PLOT it wanted to push forward and so every time this would occur, the comedy would end and instead it was time to switch back into "serious drama" mode. I thought it felt jarring and would break me out of the show.
Now, this is NOT to say that these scenes were ALSO not good in their own way, they were just different and so the overall show comes off with a slightly disjointed feeling. For instance, if you KNOW your cooking is "the best", so good that it leaves an impression on someone long after eating the food, and you're trying to gather information... why are YOU the one doing the cooking? Playing the scene as a comedy might be acceptable, but in DRAMA mode it seems absurd and like the characters aren't smart.
Basically, I would recommend this show for fans of Yan Zi Xian and/or Chen Fang Tong only. Everyone else will have a large YMMV experience with it.

ZERO SEASONING ?
I have zero to negative tolerance on the number line for overpowered villain storylines like this one. It’s almost as if the writers, struggling to construct a proper conspiracy, suspense arc, or even a halfway decent mystery, just hurl a mountain-sized bully into the plot and hope for the best.Take the vamp here, for example—daughter of the Marquis of Who-Knows-What. This woman has her nose (and occasionally her entire leg) in everyone’s business. She arrests people on a whim, tortures others like it’s a hobby, and uses every illegal trick in the book—and somehow, no one stops her?
If she’s that invincible, why doesn’t she go straight for the Emperor and call it a day? And if this is about personal power, not the law, then why is everyone putting up with her nonsense? She’s out here slapping strangers, crippling people, and walking away like she’s Beyoncé at a runway—but not one character thought of kicking her off her high horse?
And don’t even get me started on the title—Culinary Vendetta. Sounds tasty, right? Well, turns out, food is barely involved. They sprinkled the culinary element like salt in a bad college cafeteria meal—non-existent and deeply disappointing.
Moving on to cast the FL and ML are awesome actors but they are pathetic together ..no spark in chemistry.. in fact it felt like they were holding some grudge against each other while giving the kissing scene ... No Harmony whatsoever, and a big SHOUTOUT to the writer who made their romance even flatter with his plot. I like the character of Fl's MIL very refreshing and unique unlike the typical MILs we see in asian drama (boring and senile). The actress playing Vamp was the worst in my opinion.second class makeup third class acting .. It was so annoying to watch her raise her eyebrow at least ten times in each sentence..
I don't think I will survive to watch it end,This drama drained me so hard, I’m seriously reconsidering watching any short drama again for a while. It didn’t just disappoint me, it mugged my enthusiasm and left it bleeding in an alley.

"Kulinarischer Rachefeldzug"
