MY TOP 2026 C-DRAMA!!!
All the reviews have been talking about the story, the angst, the acting, yes, which all are amazinggg, but can we appreciate the OSTs!?!?!?! THEY HAVE ME HOOOKEED. Also, the cinematography is just fascinating, the scenes are so well put and honestly just beautiful. If I had to point smt out, it would be to see more of grandma's actual personality and not just her being sick, Yes, its important to her character but as someone who has raised her granddaughter alone after all her family's been through, I believe we can see her point of view of the trauma as well. Right now, it just seems she is bringing her granddaughter down. WDYM she left her college entrance exam for you and you did not even say anything to show remorse?Other than that, LOVEEE THE CAST, THE ACTING, AND HOLLLYYYYYY THE ANGSTTT!

Teenage angst badly done
I dropped this half way through ep 19, can't take any more of this nonsense. It's basically a bunch of teenage pretentious posers playing tough guys, the adults not being any more mature than them. The romance is so cliche it's actually cringe.
The plot is almost non-existent, it just repeats the same situations:
His father alternatively decides to keep him in his room, then let him go, then ground him again, his changes of mind being of course left unexplained.
Bad kids kidnap the FL, ML goes to rescue her and gets beaten up. 10 eps later, what happens? Yes, same thing, same gang kidnap her again, ML goes to rescue her again and gets beaten and stabbed again. At no point does it occur to him to call the police before heading off to get beaten up.
The amount of incredibly irritating details is unbearable:
FL just does the compulsory screaming and crying scene before she decides to call an ambulance.
He wakes up in hospital after being stabbed in his chest. First thing he does is asking her to help him remove his respirator, she immediately complies without a second thought to the fact that this should be a doctor's decision. He actually states there is no need to call a doctor, he knows better.
FL is shouting at ML from behind some bushes. He cannot find her by simply following her voice like any other mammal in the planet, instead he runs around in all directions except the right one.
The ML as one facial expression: broody. So does the FL: dreamy.
To top it all, the ML hairdo is so puffed up it looks like a middle aged western woman.
This is teenage angst really badly done. In fact, it only needs a little push to make it into a parody of it.

Review based on Episodes 1–12 episodes
**Never Ending Summer** starts with a premise that promises far more than it is ultimately willing to explore. For a brief moment, a confrontation between mother and daughter makes it seem as if the series is about to leave behind its conventional coming-of-age romance and evolve into a revenge thriller built around abandonment, resentment, and emotional manipulation. Unfortunately, that never happens.
Instead, the drama retreats to the safest possible route. The family conflict becomes nothing more than fuel for the romance, while the story repeatedly falls back on misunderstandings, emotional blackmail, repetitive relationship drama, and conflicts that could be solved if the characters simply had an honest conversation.
The biggest disappointment isn't the romance itself. It's the wasted potential. Every time the series finds a genuinely compelling conflict, it immediately steps back and returns to the familiar cycle of "together, apart, together again." As a result, nothing ever feels truly irreversible, and the emotional stakes gradually disappear.
The mother-daughter storyline had the potential to become the heart of the drama, but it ends up functioning as little more than another obstacle for the main couple. That decision makes the entire narrative feel surprisingly predictable despite having all the ingredients for something much more psychologically engaging.
In the end, **Never Ending Summer** feels less like a character-driven drama and more like a classic melodrama dressed up as a modern youth romance. There is certainly an audience for this kind of storytelling, but if you're expecting the series to fully embrace the darker emotional implications of its own premise, you'll probably come away feeling that its greatest strength was also its greatest missed opportunity.
Background entertainment. Perfect to leave on while doing housework.

A burning love
This drama was a total rollercoaster making me cry, laugh, pained and confused. I started with no expectations but finally finished watching with a full heart. The romance was intense, burning and passionate. Every stare, convo, quarrel between Zhou wan and Lu Xixiao was so good. Their chemistry is no joke. Zhou Keyu and Bao shang en did a very great job. Kudos to them.
If you are comtemplating to watch, please give it a try. You might like it.

Never Ending Summer (炽夏)
The best drama ever in 2026, their chemistry is very good, a very romantic drama and a love full of struggle with a happy ending. Really liked the couple Zhou Keyu and Bao Shang En. Hopefully they will be reunited in another very good drama too....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Does the well-known formula well
Pros:- Acting, these two young actor/actresses did an amazing job, and I look forward to their future works.
- Cinematography with some great scenes. Giving you one of the best dance scenes in c-dramas.
- OST is amazing!
Cons:
- Classic story of poor FL and rich ML, disapproving family, so you won't find anything new here, plot-wise.
Overall, a very good watch if you're into this type of romance drama. You root for them to end up together so bad that it hurts.

The plot had so much potential but it ended up feeling very rushed.
When I first picked this show up, I noticed that the plot was very rushed as if it was just trying to move from one thing to the next. If they added more episodes and actually fleshed out the plot, the drama would of felt more satisfying to watch and enhanced there chemistry especially because I left like they became close too quickly. The characters themselves also had way more potential more the script writers dialled them down so much. In the novel, the characters more more intense, darker and more morally grey. Zhou Wan hated her mother in the novel and purely approached Lu Xixiao for the intent of revenge against her mother and Lu Xixiao was more destructive and unruly. Even the breakup was more emotionally intense in the novel as Zhou Wan broke up with Lu Xixiao to complete a deal she had with his father (Zhou Wan made a deal with his father promising that if she broke up with Lu Xixiao, he would split up with her mother). Whilst in the drama, the grandpa just 'begged' her to break up with him so he can have a better future. Honestly, if the drama was more faithful to the novel, it would of been a better watch and filled with way more tension.
The acting from the cast was great. Bao Shangen and Zhou Keyu had amazing chemistry and played both roles amazingly with what they were given. The soundtrack was pretty good - my favourite song was Sunburn by Brian Cheng. It is quite a sad song but it definitely helped set the mood for the sad and emotional scenes in the drama.
Overall, I would have to sad the drama was mid. I enjoyed watching it but the quality of the plot could of been way better and less rushed.

AMAZING!!!
I loved this!!!! The leads had amazing chemistry. She was strong and determined. He was vulnerable and just really likeable. I thought a few parts were a little bit silly and not well thought out, but it didn't spoil the story at all. All the characters were believable and played their role to perfection. Will definitely watch again :)Was this review helpful to you?

just perfection. a 10/10 from me
I genuinely have nothing bad to say about this drama. It perfectly portrayed the emotions of two teens and then their reunion in adulthood. I’ve been a fan of BaoBao for a while but I had no idea Keyu was this good. For everyone saying that their relationship is confusing because one day Xixiao hates Zhou Wan, the next they’re friends, then lovers - it’s absolutely normal, especially for their teen years. As for their adulthood, in the 10 years they weren’t together I think he never really hated her, he just missed her and was hurt because he didn’t know the reason she left. But after they cleared the misunderstandings their relationship truly flourished, so this drama is a 10/10 for me, already rewatching 🥰*edit
Okay so a hundred tiktoks and at least a thousand ost listens later I’m here again to express the feeling in my heart about this drama.
First of all the relationship between Zhou Wan and Lu Xixiao is more complicated than one may think, because if you put yourself in Zhou Wan’s shoes you’ll understand why she decided it’s better to leave Xixiao. She was only 18, just discovered that her boyfriend’s father has something to do with the bankruptcy of her dad’s company and even his death. She was also pressured by Xixiao’s grandpa to leave him, so in her mind the better choice was to hurt him by lying than to make him basically choose between her and his family. As for Xixiao I absolutely get his mood swings in 2026 lol😭 Like he tells her to never show up in front of him again or he’ll make her beg and cry, but then he’s the desperate one. All of his reactions were reasonable tho - from his pov Zhou Wan lied to him and hurt him without any explanation and then 10 years later she says nothing about it. Sh*t, I’d have mood swings too😅😅 Howeverrrrr our boy is so down bad he completely forgives her the moment he lays eyes on her again (even tho he appeared angry, I just know he was so relieved to see her again) .All I can say is their love story is very beautiful and they both overcome their own fears together.
ALSO I have to say the ost is absolutely amazing, this is one of the ost’s that make you feel like you’re levitating, crying on the inside, smiling - basically feeling every emotion haha😆
In conclusion I absolutely recommend this drama!!!
