Fated Hearts

A different kind of review...

I will be focusing on the look and feel of the set + visual concept and voice actors. I will lightly touch on plot + actors. Oh, and of course, the music.

Oh, before I start, this drama grabs you from episode 1. It might very well be the only drama I will finish for 2025. It's good.

Costume design:
The designer is the same person who has done many recent fantasy/historical dramas. You can easily recognize her handiwork in other dramas (Love Between Fairy and Devil, The Princess and the Werewolf, Coroner's Diary, Moonlight Mystique, among many others...). What I like is her attention to detail and the amazing embroidery! The colors are vibrant. Visual impact is amazing, truly a feast for the eyes.

Regarding makeup...there are times I look at Chen Zhe Yuan's eye makeup and it just screams Dylan Wang from Love Between Fairy and Devil. The eyeliner and eye shadow does something all together different to the eyes. Makeup alone makes these male leads complex, haha. Definitely not the "clean boy next door" type.

When this costume designer (Yi Xiao Ya) is involved, you know the expectations and quality of the drama are high.

Art direction:
The art director (Liu Shi Yun) works well with the costume designer. They've collaborated on a two dramas, and both are rated about 8.5. Again, visually amazing. I especially like the use of flowers in the palaces. Many times when I watch the historical dramas, there are a lot of silk screens, hanging silk fabrics, panels, but not a lot of flowers. In some of the shots, there are flowers everywhere! It really adds to the visual impact of the scenes. Again, all the dramas with this art director are well rated (8.1 or higher).

Voice actors:
While some people might look down on dubbing, in Chinese dramas, it is practically a necessity. Most filming takes place in cities that were built to be movie and drama sets. Building an entire set for one drama is not cost effective. Filming on site at historical palaces is not cost effect. Therefore, several dramas are filming literally side by side. It is a city of sets, and these sets are reused. Sometimes they're used at the same time, just in different corners.

There is way too much noise NOT to dub. Thus, actors even dub themselves, like Chen Zhe Yuan. The FL is dubbed by someone else. I heard the FL's original voice. It is a bit to high in pitch. Rest assured, she memorized and said all her lines well! That's why it could then be dubbed well. It is clear what she is saying, so then the voice actor can match her easily.

WU TAO. Wu Tao is one of my favorite voice actors. In the radio drama community, he's better known as Unlucky Death. He plays Gu Fei in Sa Ye, Yu Fan in Wait For Me After School, Gu Jiu Si in the audio drama version of Destined, and so many other characters. Wu Tao dubs for Chen He Yi (Xia Jing Shi)!!! I kept finding myself drawn toward this character, knowing he's one of the antagonists. Why? Why??? Why????? So I looked at the complete list of cast and crew and realized his voice was drawing me in. I'm a bit of a voice con, heh heh heh. Anyway, so now whenever Xia Jing Shi has lines, I find myself closing my eyes just to listen to the voice alone. Sad, cuz Chen He Yi is quite handsome, haha. But, Wu Tao's voice needs no visuals.

Here's a plug for other voice actors that I like: Wen Sen (seriously, listening to him talk is pure ASMR), Yuan Ming Zhe (and this guy has an amazing singing voice too!!!!!! *whimper*), Ling Fei (he has the most amazing deep voice! The timbre is just...sigh. Paired with a good BGM, my mind drifts into fantasy land), Ma Zheng Yang (this guy is so prolific! He has this clarity to his voice that commands attention)

Drama vs. the book:
The drama and the book are at best remotely related, lol. Okay, I'm on chapter 17 of the book and so far, other than names being the same, practically everything is different. Everything. The book feels like it's going down the route of Taming of the Shrew. There is practically nothing to like about Fu Yi Xiao for the first 17 chapters. And where's the amnesia???? It is so central to the plot of the drama but completely absent from the book, lol. I read almost 30 chapters and then dropped it. Not worth my time, would not recommend it.

Actors/characters:
Chen Zhe Yuan. Yeah, I wish I could be his godmother or something.
Chen He Yi is good looking in the drama.
Ding Jia Wen. I just want to pinch his cheeks, he's so cute!
The Princess of Susha is particularly annoying. She's actually more like Fu Yi Xiao in the book. Scary thought. Like I said, Fu Yi Xiao in the first 17 chapters of the book is super annoying. The princess, on the other hand, seems to have a better head on her shoulders.
Ling Xue Ying isn't even a doctor in the book. Lol! Her character in the drama is also much better than the book counterpart.

Music:
AMAZING!!! Lars Huang sings one of the songs (Surging Waves) and it's my new favorite song for now.

The other 3 songs are also very good and fitting. They add so much to the drama.

Ho Hum Less Mess Please!

I was all set to be entertained and immersed in yet another fine drama ….. but there the good ends. Such a twisted and utterly unlikable FL, I found myself disliking her intensely and as the story grew so did my dislike. She didn’t appeal to me at all, I liked neither the character nor the actress.

The ML I thought needed to grow up and thought him a bit wimpy against the FL. After five minutes into episode five, I’ve had it - that’s it! I’ve better things to watch than this ridiculous excuse for a show.

Three Female Generals walk into a bar

--Review--

I sampled this drama for 2 episodes because it's Chinese Zodiac Year of the Female Generals, and I had to honor the tradition. While I won't be continuing--ancestors only deserve so much respect/disgrace--I'm happy to acknowledge there are quite a few positives about the beginning episodes.

For one, Li Qin was stellar here, slicing her way through the battlefield with an icy blade and colder glare. While CDrama will never make the FL not look pretty, and she looks great here, I'm impressed by her willingness to do the physical scenes, suffering scenes, and get some actual makeup wounds applied. While I had only really seen her in JoL, I'm not surprised that she had the demeanor and screen presence to do well in this role. But still, I was surprised by how much ass she kicked and how much assassin energy she mustered.

I'm also happy to commend Chen Zheyuan for turning in supposedly his best performance to date. He has successfully graduated from playing a heartthrob groomer of underage girls to smacking around a wounded female general, without getting emasculated in the process. Let's be clear, as this is no small feat. Li Qin is still the better warrior and out-generals him. But he did better than expected given his previous resume, and was only a few steps behind.

I was also pleasantly surprised that the cinematography was so normal, so normal that I couldn't even tell Zhu Rui Bin Laden was the director. This was the least radicalizing use of camera from him to date. Perhaps he's moved onto more profitable things like plagiarism. Perhaps looking like 65 yro post-menopausal lesbian grannie has finally mellowed him out. Or perhaps he's laying low like it's Tora Bora because viewers are ready to drone strike his ass. Whatever the reason, this show survived the CDrama Bin Laden far better than Building 7's concrete-steel structure to an office fire. And that's commendable.

It's enough to make the Highlander showdown of female generals a no contest. I don't need to watch the other 2 to know Li Qin wins this in her sleep. Put Zhou Ye and Song Yi on a team and Li Qin solos them using only her right clavicle. The next time the Year of Female Generals rolls around, there better first be a gladiator selection match, and only the winner get to play the role.

So the first 2 eps are around a 7, the whole drama is probably in the 5.5 to 6 range. It's not that bad, but with so many other dramas more aligned with my taste, I won't be continuing.

Enticing Beginning

The first few episodes were great-- loved the cast and the pacing drew me in immediately. The action scenes were done well and I was super excited to come across another potential binge. But I decided to drop this relatively early because I'm already seeing signs on how they are going to direct the development of their romance. Instead of creating a more natural and gradual bond between the two, they have already slotted in heavy flirtations much too early. Because they did such a great job on who the ML and FL were as standalone individuals initially, their characters were really diminished by this. The constant abuse directed at one another to try and convince you of their status as enemies is really not believable.

This disappointment has given me the desire to re-watch The Double instead to help fulfill the unsatisfied build-up.

I decided to start this only because of high rating and I'm dropping at 2 because of what I saw

FML is deadly injured someone shoot arrow to her and she fell from cliff and still didn't die ? after that she is caught by ml because it's his area I think and he first pretends to not know her because he found out she has amnesia and he takes her and starts the torture ? first time I have seen FML being tortured like that in drama I thought it will end ? and later he puts sharp object where she is injured asking for information what happened to her I thought let go ? but later she is trying to runway or dunno attacks ml ? she bite him and it look liked the part will come off ? i don't know if that is possible but it was horrible to watch but after she did that ml starts hitting her so she let go ? these worst scenes I have ever scene in drama the hate to eachother is clearly extreme and the way they're so violent to eachother I'm not interested in seeing romance of them , too much violence I have ever seen ? it's not there even in crime shows, this worst than crime show, I do not like violence on women

I'm not saying this to show off or take the moral high ground (if you like this CDrama, good for you), but this is just not acceptable. Episode 1 is sublime, with its fights, its twists and turns, its hyper-edgy and fast-paced editing; it's spectacularly done. In episode 2, we see a man kidnapping and beating up a woman. And we're supposed to accept this enemy to lover trope ? Excuse me ? (eventually, we'll try to justify the unacceptable by saying that she's attacking him too. But this scam is starting to become obvious. Don't even try that)

No, no, no, I'm stopping here. I absolutely did not expect to see that with this poster, this synopsis, this first episode. I don't understand how anyone can subject themselves to this.

É simplesmente impecável do começo ao fim.

Eu não tenho palavras para descrever as emoções que vivi assistindo a esse drama, eu ri, chorei, me revoltei, me emocionei… foi uma montanha-russa de sentimentos que me prendeu completamente. De coração, que drama INCRÍVEL.

O casal principal é perfeito. A forma como a relação deles evolui do ódio ao amor verdadeiro é uma das construções mais bonitas que já vi em um drama. É algo puro, intenso e totalmente envolvente. A química entre eles é surreal e te faz torcer de verdade pelo amor deles e a confiança e o respeito, sério. Eu to apaixonada!

Outro ponto incrível é a construção dos personagens e os plots. Cada episódio traz algo novo, uma reviravolta diferente, e desperta sentimentos completamente distintos. A transformação da sonsa da irmã, é um destaque à parte, ver a jornada dela até se tornar uma pessoa maravilhosa é inspirador e emocionante. (Eu chorei demais com o final do imperador, eles não tinham esse direito).

O roteiro é muito bem escrito, e o desenvolvimento de cada personagem faz a gente mudar de opinião várias vezes. Aqueles que odiávamos acabam despertando um certo carinho, e alguns que gostávamos se revelam pessoas extremamente ruins. Isso mostra como a série trabalha de forma profunda as camadas humanas, ninguém é totalmente bom ou totalmente mau. (Mas tem os que são maus até demais).

Os três últimos episódios são devastadores e lindos ao mesmo tempo. Eu chorei muito, porque tudo chega em um ponto tão intenso que mexe com a gente de verdade. A perda do imperador e o sofrimento da irmã partem o coração, mas fazem parte dessa história de amor e destino que, apesar das dores, vale cada segundo.

As músicas são maravilhosas e dão o tom perfeito a cada cena. A direção, o elenco, os figurinos, o enredo, tudo é de um capricho absurdo. E o final… surpreendente, emocionante e inesquecível. Eu to com saudades e eu acabei de finalizar, eu to encantada com o tanto que me prendeu em TODOS os eps. Simplesmente TUDO.

Drama che tra pro e contro ha il suo perchè, ma penalizzato da un protagonista non performante

C-drama storico che mescola intrighi, lotte di potere, combattimenti, romance e affetti famigliari. A visione conclusa, posso solo fare una distinzione netta tra aspetti positivi e negativi.

PRO:
- Vicenda complessivamente interessante, trama non originalissima ma che può funzionare per l'importante durata prospettata (la serie conta quasi 40 episodi).
- Ben riuscito il personaggio principale femminile, dove la buona prova recitativa dell’attrice ha regalato una figura di carattere, viva ed espressiva. Unico neo, il titolo di “generale”, che non trova alcun riscontro nella vicenda, non solo nel presente ma neanche nei – pochi - ricordi del passato. E’ il terzo drama che vedo in pochi mesi che si ostina a vantare una donna generale che, nei fatti, tale non è. Validissima l’idea di un’ineguagliabile arciere… Ma mi sarei fermata a quello.
- Il rapporto tra fratelli e la loro caratterizzazione: una faida dovuta a fraintendimenti tra il protagonista e il fratellastro più giovane piuttosto che un legame indissolubile tra fratello e sorella sarebbero stati ovvii cliché. Ho quindi apprezzato la scelta di mantenere salda la fiducia del fratello minore, così come osare conferire all’adorata sorella una caratterizzazione che così fantastica non è: all’inizio sembra una giovane immatura e avventata che – al pari di una sbandata di un’adolescente del giorno d’oggi - volta le spalle alla famiglia per inseguire il grande amore della sua vita che è più frutto delle sue illusioni romantiche che della realtà. Capricciosamente egoista anche con il novello sposo (per la serie “sono disposta a fare tutto per te…Però alla fine se non mi ripaghi innamorandoti di me allora sei uno stronzo perché me lo dovevi, quindi passo a odiarti”), si dimostra ancora più discutibile nel momento in cui inizia una liaison di interesse col cognato lunatico e mentalmente instabile. Una figura antipatica, dall’inizio alla fine, ma in questo - va detto - sicuramente coerente. Ho apprezzato che agli occhi del fratello resti la sua amata sorellina ma che l’essere appunto adorata dall’eroe della vicenda non faccia necessariamente di lei una figura retta e pia, come invece accade nella maggior parte dei drama (l'indifesa sorellina di turno è quasi sempre un personaggio totalmente buono e positivo).
- La schiera dei cattivi, davvero mista e variegata: oltre a quelli palesi fin dall'inizio, se ne profilano poi degli altri, più o meno insospettabili (difficili da individuare all’inizio, ma che si riconoscono comunque con qualche episodio in anticipo). Interessante come ciascuno sia un insieme di mezzi toni e mai completamente nero: realistico perché descrive bene la natura umana, dove è più facile avere a che fare con personaggi in parte cattivi, ma non malvagi nella loro totalità e comunque ancora animati in parte da affetti talvolta sinceri.
- Il personaggio di Xia Jing Shi, davvero ma davvero complesso ed imperscrutabile. Ho fatto davvero fatica ad inquadrarlo, sono rimasta con la curiosità fin quasi alla fine perché potenzialmente oggetto di sorprendenti svolte inaspettate. Personaggio sicuramente riuscito e per nulla prevedibile, non c'è che dire.
- Belle le scene di combattimento e la relazione basata su fiducia e rispetto tra Feng Sui Ge e i suoi più fidati sottoposti.
- Acconciature, costumi e accessori ben curati (forse in alcuni casi le imperatrici madri/vedove un po’ eccessivamente truccate).
- OST non da playlist del cuore, ma sicuramente molto belle l’omonima “Fated hearts” e ancor di più “Surging waves”

CONTRO:
- Il clichè dell’amnesia, pure raddoppiato: se nel caso di lei toglie molto perché priva quasi completamente lo spettatore del suo passato, nel caso di lui è quell’intermezzo breve e per nulla necessario, se non per consentire l’inserimento delle tipiche scene di “lui che non la riconosce più” e “lui che alla fine si ricorda di lei”. Momenti in teoria molto intensi e ricchi di pathos, ma talmente abusati che – visti già un milione di volte – ormai suonano più noiosi che interessanti.
- La strage di massa di buona parte dei personaggi. Se da una parte abbiamo la coppia principale – che quanto a moralità e rettitudine mai vacilla – dall’altra la maggior parte dei personaggi paleserà dei risvolti tutt’altro che magnanimi (forse un po’ troppi…almeno un paio di figure le avrei mantenute sulla retta via, che fosse l’amico Murong Yan piuttosto che rivalutare uno dei due fratelli Xia partendo da una apparente connotazione negativa per poi far emergere un piano nascosto una nobiltà d’animo). Invece no, per tutti loro l’ago della bilancia tende verso le tinte più scure e presto o tardi si assiste alla loro dipartita. Questo crea un po’ una discrepanza tra il gruppo e la coppia principale, dove i due protagonisti in confronto risultano quasi dei santi. Avrei accorciato la distanza, permettendo loro degli errori e salvando qualche peccatore dal commettere azioni imperdonabili.
- Nel corso della vicenda, qualche cedimento a livello di coerenza e logica c’è, a volte anche su dettagli ma che saltano comunque all’occhio. Tanto per citarne un paio, Feng Sui Ge non svuota il sacco con la sorella su tutti i peccati e complotti di Xia Jing Shi, mentre paradossalmente si dispera per non riuscire a fermarla dal suo intento di scappare con il suo peggior nemico. Oppure ancora quando all’inizio gli uomini di Xia Jing Shi minacciano Fu Yi Xiao sulla nave tenendo in ostaggio un ragazzino a lei caro: il tizio se ne sta lì con la lama puntata al collo del ragazzino mentre lei continua tranquillamente a lottare – e a sconfiggere - a uno a uno tutto il resto della banda. Ma che minaccia è? Perchè lei va avanti e la lama al collo diventa un pericolo solo quando ha steso tutti gli altri? Qualcosa non funziona, a rigor di logica.
- Nella parte iniziale, il passaggio tra torture vicendevoli e l’accordo di alleanza dei due protagonisti suona un poco affrettato. Un attimo prima la fa frustare a sangue mentre lui se ne sta lì vicino a disquisire tranquillamente col suo sottoposto, il momento dopo le cura le ferite e siamo pronti per stringere il patto. Diluito sarebbe stato più credibile.
- Infine, dopo un misto di pro e di contro che – tutto sommato – potrebbero anche bilanciarsi, arriva quella che secondo me è la pecca più importante della serie, ovvero la scelta dell’attore protagonista. Consapevole che la mia opinione sarà altamente impopolare, sono al terzo drama dell’acclamato Chen Zhe Yuan…e per me è la terza delusione. Non mi aveva minimamente colpita in “Hidden love”, l’ho trovato davvero penalizzante in “The white olive tree” e anche qui in “Fated hearts” non ha funzionato. Io tutto questo talento davvero non riesco proprio a vederlo: non lo trovo minimamente espressivo (zero microespressioni e anche l’espressività di base è veramente ridotta al minimo), capace per lo più di uno sguardo fisso in un punto ma che dovrebbe esprimere tutta una gamma di emozioni che – personalmente – proprio non arrivano. Gli sguardi che dovevano essere arrabbiati se non furiosi non sembravano affatto tali. L’impressione è che l’attore non fosse davvero immerso nel ruolo, non si stesse immedesimando nel personaggio e si stesse quindi limitando a una recitazione superficiale e meccanica, per quanto accurata in termini di battute e copione. Come già detto nella recensione di “The white olive tree”, continua ad essere un bel faccino incapace di bucare lo schermo (e anche sul bel faccino si potrebbe aprire una parentesi…pur essendo innegabilmente di bell’aspetto – con lineamenti a mio avviso anche fin troppo morbidi e accentuati, indipendentemente che siano patrimonio genetico o il risultato di interventi chirurgici – manca completamente di un vero fascino, di quel tipo di bellezza – spesso unica proprio perché imperfetta – che ha però più appeal rispetto a una bellezza un po’ troppo eterea e, nel suo caso specifico, anche molto ingessata). Va da sé che, nella sintonia di coppia, lui è l’elemento debole, incapace di sostenere e alimentare il coinvolgimento che ci si aspetta nelle scene maggiormente dedicate al romance. Qualche sforzo nella seconda parte del drama, a livello espressivo, nelle scene dove da Principe della Guerra si trasforma quasi in un vitello piangente (va bene una lacrima che sfugge di tanto in tanto, ma senza esagerare). Spiace ma una stellina secca in meno nella valutazione complessiva è imputabile interamente a lui.

In conclusione, non un drama eccellente ma sicuramente nella media – lo dico comunque in senso positivo – forte di alcuni spunti intelligenti ma comunque non privo di altrettanti difetti e, soprattutto, penalizzato fortemente da un attore protagonista per nulla performante. Per i fan di Chen Zhe Yuan – che ci sono come è giusto che sia – potrebbe rivelarsi invece un drama altamente apprezzabile.

Perfeitooooo!

Fated Hearts é um Cdrama histórico perfeito, seguindo a temática Inimies tô lovers ele nos apresenta guerra entre reinos, justiça, vinganças, injustiças, romances, comédia, amizade, família e amor.

Assistir esse Cdrama é embarcar em um oceano de emoções. Esse é um dos melhores cdramas históricos que já assisti.

Nosso protagonista masculino é Perfeito. Em primeira instância é um homem orgulhoso que só pensa em vingança, mas ao conhecer o amor ele muda totalmente, acompanhar cada mudança dele é uma experiência maravilhosa.

E quanto a nossa protagonista, Maravilhosa, amei uma das minhas favoritas. Uma mulher forte determinada e inabalável. Adorei a atuação da atriz, impecável. Acompanhar a evolução dela também é mirabolante.

Os personagens secundários são ótimos, cada um com uma história mais tocante e envolvente que a outra, senti ranço de vários mas também os compreendia, parabéns aos atores, eles foram excelentes!

A Ost's são lindas e maravilhosas, a cantada por Sa Dingding é minha favorita.


Em resumo, é um Cdrama que vale a pena ser assistido, é uma história incrível! Super recomendo!

J'ai l'ai dévoré, c'est le meilleur drama chinois historique que j'ai vu.

Les dramas historiques ne sont pas ce que je préfère surtout par rapport à la place de la femme dans ces histoires mais la bonde annonce m'a intéressé.
Ici le personnage féminin principale est franche, courageuse, talentueuse et c'est une guerrière . Le personnage masculin principale est un prince guerrier redoutable, brillant et sournois.

L'histoire est tout simplement éblouissante que ce soit l'intrigue, l'histoire d'amour entre le 2 personnages principaux et les antagonistes.

C'est une histoire d'amour qui à pour thème des ennemies qui tombe amoureux ( personnellement c'est un thème que j'aime beaucoup) . L'intrigue est addictive, on nous tient en alène tout au long de l'histoire.
Tout les personnages sont très bien développé. Mon seul bémol c'est que j'aurais préféré de meilleurs ost.

Sinon c'est sans aucun doute le Meilleur Drama Chinois Historique que j'ai jamais vu, je l'ai déjà revisionné.

il se pourrai qu’il y ai quelques spoilers, car autrement je sais pas si je donnerai un avis parfait

tout d’abord, au tout début J’AIMAIS TROP, je trouvais ça intéressant mais leur soi-disant enemies to lovers a durer quelques épisodes de rien du tout mais bon c’était bien quand même.

ensuite vers les épisodes 10-25 j’ai trouvé ça TROP long, « répétitif », inintéressant, etc…

puis l’histoire de la soeur du ML OMGGG, J’AI TROP KIFFÉ, c’est son histoire à elle qui a boosté le drama, la vérité j’ai trop kiffée son moment carrément j’ai enchaîné les épisodes d’un coup tellement c’était bien, mais la fin de son histoire purée j’ai la haine qu’elle est pas fini avec son mec, l’empereur de jinshiu je sais pas quoi 😔😔😔

et bref la fin est bien mais voilà quoi c’est juste que je suis trop triste pour la fin de la sœur du ML LOL
