What a rollercoster ride!? It made me laugh, feel giddy, happy and made me cry especially the last eps made me feel bittersweet & few made me cry! Loved their acting & their emotions plus the plot was lovely too. Perfectly executed a new twist of reincarnation with no regression. The dramatic & "helplessly fragile" crown prince, who loves to lose consciousness(He Yu execited it way better than any other, i loved it SO MUCH!). Alusive & cold daughter of a General whose heart he wants to win. Huayong's persistence, shameless flirting & how he always kept her in mind whatever he was doing since the day he fell in love with Xihe was the reason that melted her heart, broker her falls & made her fall her harder in love with the her precious Huayong. Two great minds comes together. A deal of mutual benefits eventually turns into a lifetime of beautiful love between the two. They were really each other's equal in both power & love.

Tons of great characters, minus 1

This might just be the only drama with a large cast where I thought all of the characters had interesting stories and personalities. A lot of times I sigh and power through scenes with side characters but here I actually looked forward to seeing most of them. I mean I even liked her crazy obsessive first(ex? non?) husband a ton. ML still wins the prize for best character though. He was mischievous, funny and intense. He’s completely devoted to FL(do I get it? Not really but I expect no less from a ML). Sadly the character who was lacking was a very important one, FL. FL has very little emotion, little personality, few expressions. Now pair this with this drama’s big flaw- we don’t get deep enough into any character’s mind, and you get a FL who doesn’t give much. I mean, FL became two people and it was just business as usual? No explanations or insights into how she felt or how it affected her? Nothing?! It’s baffling to get past, but the rest of the characters held this drama up for me despite FL and all the missing information

Pitched at right level

I highly recommend this drama,there are interesting multiple twist and turn in short phases which is pitched at just the right level, not too complicated nor draggy. Many reviewers think that only complicated story equal to "good"storyline -hello this is entertainment not exam

The acting is superb , especially He Yu who's not just handsome but has "attitude". He made the role funny and interesting, when the "chasing"could potentially be cheesy. The director and editors are very good too,in keeping it short without dragging or constant OST or memory fillers

I’m writing this to give high praise to Fan Shuai qi and Dong Zi fan.

Both gave phenomenal performances, and the script complemented them wonderfully. The audience absolutely adores these two characters.

At first, I started watching and got hooked because I loved the Crown Prince (He Yu)—he’s a charming, roguish, and lovable character.

Then, I became utterly captivated by Shizi Bu (Bu Shulin). She’s handsome, playful, and acts like an unruly playboy, seemingly causing mischief everywhere without causing real harm—just petty antics. She’s brilliant at investigations and martial arts, though not much of a strategist. Unless you’re the guy on the receiving end of her punches, any woman on the receiving end of her flirting—like that hand-holding scene—would undoubtedly fall for her. Initially, she probably just looked after Cui Jinbai as an investigative partner, but gradually, her feminine side slipped out in front of him—through her tone of voice, her gaze, and her gestures. I’m certain A-Lin let her guard down, but strictly around the two people she truly loves and holds close: Deputy Cui and Xi He. Her demeanor shifted subtly, and later on, when she appeared as a woman, she was utterly adorable. My only slight regret is that her female look didn’t feel quite as cool as her natural charisma. Having read the novel, that’s how I interpret it. Bu Shulin is someone who is sharp-tongued but soft-hearted. She loves Cui Jinbai deeply and can never keep up with him because he’s shrewd, a master schemer, and a lower skilled martial artist comparing to her. While Cui Jinbai can’t beat his wife in a fight, he certainly won her heart with his schemes.

The third person I fell in love with in this drama is Cui Jinbai. I loved how he transformed from being stern, glaring at Bu Shulin with disdain and reprimanding eyes, and rolling his eyes in sheer disbelief, to showing pure devotion, protection, and sweet tenderness in his gaze. What I loved most were his schemes to bring A-Lin to him: arranging for Wang Sanlang from her gang to work with him just so she would visit, issuing an arrest warrant, tricking her into eating the food he brought, finding excuses to enter the Bu Manor, confessing his feelings, caring for and protecting her, rushing to her rescue, the breakup scene, and the moment he asked to go along with her. Every single shot was executed so well and looked so endearing.

Rewatching it several times, I noticed the meticulous attention to detail in their styling, makeup, hair, height, and footwear (both wore height-increasing shoes), as well as their body language—how they sit, stand, and walk. Bu Shulin has her signature way of sitting, while Cui Jinbai always kneels upright with a straight back. The farewell scene in the pavilion was hilarious because Cui Jinbai was kneeling formally, while Bu Shulin was sitting with her legs spread wide, resting her arms on her knees like a total dude. It looked so funny, and Deputy Cui seemed so delightfully whipped! It painted a vivid picture of what their future married life will look like. Thank goodness Deputy Cui never gave up. In the end, their two sons helped turn things around; if she hadn’t become pregnant to shift the momentum, she probably would have kept acting cold and breaking his heart over and over. Deputy Cui truly got lucky.

Meng Ziyi (Xi He) also delivered a great performance; I just personally wasn’t fond of the female lead’s characterization. While not entirely heartless, she felt rather cold and detached.

Realistic Human Life Made by Human

Finally I watched it after considering too much. Firstly just because I craving for power couple with sick male lead. And I got more.

Story,
Even though the story are common second chance life, but this story deliver the 'common dish' but in fine dining type of 'common dish' with extraordinary taste. Producer didn't just deliver, they served the whole realm and each character's story with human touch. I got not only beautiful story, but also everything that happend actually got their own cause-effect like human in real life. I found everything got connected beautifully. I believe that behind beautiful story, there are a lot of hard work poured by the production crew and the actors. Thank you for all of you for bring this masterpiece to us!

Acting,
Actually I came in here because I curious about how He Yu potrayed sickly crown prince with sharp witted mind. He got me for a whole story! He made me laugh, tense, want to throw a pillow to him, or even I cry a river for him. I'm afraid his 'sickly male' don't impact me because his image in my mind are strong badboy man, and this male lead are my cup of tea so I got a lot of favorite actor who played this type of lead well. But he proved me wrong to doubt his skill!
Meng jie always served I don't need many words for her.
But the fact that I'm captivated by Jeremy Xu. He definitely got really good skill even when he act, I forgot his usual appearance in real life.
And all of the actors are really good! Thank you acting team for your hard work.

I will saved it to my playlist when I want to feel pain as human. Of course this worth to watch, especially this is one of the best female centric story that I ever watched!

Best historical cdrama of the second quarter of 2026!

When I started the 1st ep I was a bit confused and then appeared He Yu😮‍💨
I can't describe how he looked to me...he was sooo beautifull🥰
Then I was hooked by the cinematography and the little schemes of Xiao Huayong to make Shen Xihe marry him.
The way they both worked together and how he complimented her in her work...he literally made many things easy for her

Tbh the FL was kinda annoying me coz what do u mean that u dont even have a little bit of feelings for him after all that he did for u....ig its fine coz she finally developed feelings for him
It was equally funny with Xiao Huayong and Tian Yuan duo...absolutely love them <3
But one drawback is that I didn't get much clarity on the poisoning and also he died..for sure...then how did he comeback?

Comedy, fantasy and romance rolled into one.

Blossoms of Power is quite a parade of handsome actors and beautiful actresses. Even Fan Shuai Qi, masquerading as a man (Bu Shu Lin), looks remarkably convincing — at first glance, I genuinely thought she was male. Meng Zi Yi, of course, is stunning with her pouty lips and large, expressive eyes. I would easily rank her among the top five most beautiful actresses in China.

Shen Xi He is bestowed the title of Commandery Princess. She is the daughter of the powerful General Shen Yue Shan, sworn brother of the Emperor, and arrives in the capital with great pomp, supposedly for a marriage alliance with the royal family.

Beautiful, intelligent and from a highly esteemed family, she immediately captures the attention of the unmarried princes. Soon, she has five handsome princes at her heels. Five handsome Adonises competing for you — would that not be many women's dream?

Among them is the Crown Prince, frail and sickly after being poisoned as a child. The culprit was never found. Secretly helping Xi He from behind the scenes, he makes sure things go remarkably smoothly for her. But would Xi He choose him for his prestigious position, knowing that he may not have long to live?

Then there is the obsessive Prince Xin, who is convinced that Xi He is the reincarnation of his late wife. Jeremy Xu plays the role extremely well — at times, he looks positively sociopathic. Prince Xin is essentially a good man who has, unfortunately, been driven insane by grief and obsession.

Comedy, Fantasy and Romance

I would actually classify Blossoms of Power partly as a comedy. Much of the humour comes from the Crown Prince's attempts to woo the woman of his dreams while constantly pretending to be a poor, helpless, sickly young man.

The feud between Xi He's father and maternal grandfather is also amusing. Then there is Bu Shu Lin, who keeps dragging Cui Jin Bai along to discourage princesses hoping for a marriage arrangement with her. The situation becomes even funnier when the roles reverse: Cui discovers that Bu is actually a woman — and promptly starts courting her.

There is also a definite fantasy element. It appears that the spirit of Prince Xin's late wife merges with Xi He after Xi He falls into a river on her journey from the Northwest to the capital. She subsequently retains memories from both lives.

And, of course, the courtship between Xi He and the man she eventually chooses is undeniably romantic and heart-warming.

Xi He's previous life as Prince Xin's wife must have left her deeply disappointed, particularly because he failed to protect her Gu family. That experience also explains why she scrutinises her new suitor so critically. He has to work hard to win her trust and, eventually, her heart — making this very much a slow-burn romance.

Meanwhile, the identity of the person who poisoned the Crown Prince remains a mystery throughout much of the story. And what is a good drama without a twist? Blossoms of Power delivers one, although by the later episodes I managed to guess the culprit after the drama dropped a telling hint.

My Nitpicking

One thing I cannot quite agree with is Xi He's concern that the Crown Prince is too intelligent and cunning for her. Why should having a clever husband be a problem? Did she want a man she could control?

And how does someone who has died and is already lying in a coffin suddenly resurrect? We are told that a cure was found — but he was already dead! It seems happy endings have become fashionable these days, even when they are not particularly well orchestrated. Quite a contrast to the endless tragedies of Chinese dramas from the previous decade.

Lessons to Take Away

When someone is too strong-headed or stubborn, it can lead either to constant conflict or to the other person resorting to deception simply to avoid that conflict.

And perhaps the more serious lesson: one of the greatest threats to any country is internal conflict — particularly when people who understand their own country's systems and weaknesses cooperate with an external enemy.

Overall, Blossoms of Power gets an excellent rating from me. It has beauty, humour, mystery, fantasy, political intrigue and a satisfying slow-burn romance — enough ingredients to keep me entertained right to the end.

A Mind-Ransacking Masterpiece

For me, this drama will truly ransack your mind. As you get to know the characters, you'll constantly uncover hidden secrets, layers, and clever clues. That intricate plotting and mystery-solving aspect is easily one of the biggest reasons why I rate this high.

When it comes to the music, I totally love it. They used songs and BGM at just the right emotional moments. Though, to be fair, there were a few times where I felt like the BGM was a bit too loud, or used during scenes that honestly didn't even need any music playing.

As for the entire cast—both actors and actresses—they all did a phenomenal job bringing their roles to life.

Let me talk about some of my favorite characters, or the ones who really stood out to me throughout the drama.

Starting with Shen Xi He, I honestly couldn't like her character at first; she came across as way too timid and cold. But as the story progressed and you get to know her deeper, I found myself growing to really like her. She is strong, resilient, and fiercely knows what she wants. My only minor critique—not really a dislike, just a missed opportunity—is the lack of showing us what the original Shen Xi was actually like. Even though it was mentioned early on in the episodes that the original was gentle and contrasted with the new Shen Xi, I wish they had given us at least a brief flashback to see it firsthand.

Then we have XHY, the Crown Prince. Is it weird that I never disliked his character? There are always different sides to people, and XHY showed that to us so well. On top of that, he never stopped or interfered with Shen Xi He’s plans—instead, he was always quietly right there supporting her.

As for characters where I'm torn between feeling pity or pride, we have Prince Li and Shen Yin Rou. We watched the pure side of Prince Li unfold, though I was often conflicted about whether he was truly a good person or not, especially as we witnessed his maturity and difficult choices.

Meanwhile, Shen Yin Rou chose the path that she genuinely wanted for herself. Honestly, for a while, I really thought they would end up together—there was definitely some chemistry there! Yet, they each chose their own separate paths, and in a way, that's what made their arcs so hauntingly beautiful.

Let's also talk about the absolute dedication of the Xi, Mo, Yu, Tian, etc., and the loyal helpers of both the male and female leads. The unwavering loyalty and devotion they showed to their majesties added so much heart to the story.

Now, for the character, story, and couple that I like the most: Bu Shu Lin and Cui Jin.

I love how BSL/BSY portrayed the harsh reality of why having a son was considered so important in that era, and how heavy family responsibilities always came above everything else

But at the same time, BSL showed us such incredible passion and fierce determination. As for Cui Jin, he felt like the most grounded and normal person in the entire drama. I love their story—it was catchy, fun, and provided a much-needed, lighthearted getaway from the intense push-and-pull dynamics of the main couple.

Let's appreciate the intricate palace politics, the sharp character writing, and the fact that the female lead isn't just a passive pawn. However, some sheer density of the plot requires full attention, meaning if you miss a single episode or dialogue heavy with hidden meaning, you might find yourself scrambling to catch up.

There is just so much to say really, but Blossoms of Power leaves a lasting impression long after the credits roll!

A Strong Beginning That Lost Its Way, But Still Worth the Watch

Blossoms of Power was a drama that started off on a really strong note.

Huayong was such a lovable and shameless male lead. His confidence, wit, and playful personality made every scene entertaining. Xihe's calm, nonchalant nature balanced with huayong's personality perfectly, and Meng Ziyi did a wonderful job portraying her quiet strength.

The real highlights of the drama for me were Bu Shulin and Cui Jin Bai. Every time they appeared, they stole the scene. Bu Shulin was easily my favorite character, alongside Shen Yingruo. Both of them had strong personalities, memorable moments, and felt incredibly genuine. I also absolutely loved the sisterhood between Xihe and Shulin—it was warm, supportive, and one of the most heartfelt relationships in the drama.

Unfortunately, the drama started losing its momentum around Episode 21, or more noticeably after the wedding. For nearly 7–8 episodes, the crown prince's investigation was barely mentioned. It felt like the plot wandered away from its original direction. Thankfully, things finally picked up again around Episodes 32.

One of my biggest disappointments was a ship that never sailed: Prince Lie and Shen Yingruo. They looked so adorable together and had such sweet chemistry despite their limited interactions. I genuinely hope the actors get cast as the main couple in another drama someday.

The supporting cast was another strength of the series. Most characters had distinct personalities, and even side relationships were enjoyable to watch. The costumes, cinematography, and soundtrack beautifully complemented the historical setting, making many scenes visually memorable.

One thing I wished was that they could have shown us how Huayong survived and who saved him. But nevertheless, I was happy that he was alive.

Overall, despite its uneven pacing in the middle, Blossoms of Power remained an enjoyable watch with strong performances, likable characters, touching friendships, and satisfying political twists toward the end. It wasn't perfect, but it was definitely worth watching.

Shameless Xiao Hua Yong and Calculating Shen Xi He make the cutest couple!!

I want to start by saying that I had been waiting for this drama for months, literally ever since it was announced to be produced, and I am glad to say that it didn't disappoint! In terms of what I really liked, I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry; He Yu and Meng Zi Yi truly outdid themselves in their characters. Their acting, their emotion, especially the electric chemistry they created on screen was incredible. Watching XHY fall in love literally in episode 1, thus dropping cheesy, shameless lines for the rest of the show, and watching SXH's cold heat slowly thaw until she was absolutely whipped for him too was the cutest thing to watch on screen. Additionally, I wanted especially bring up Meng Zi Yi's acting because she truly was able to bring to life a smart, calculating FL. SXH was literally aura farming the entire show, and Meng Zi Yi truly made her feel powerful and intelligent. Also the this is one of the rare instances where I completely fall in love with the second lead couple; they were just so cute!

Overall I would say the plot is decent, but I think what truly let this drama down were the last few episodes. Honestly, I am so tried of this faking your death thing in cdramas, it doesn't make sense and doesn't do anything for the plot. I literally think the writers only did this faked death thing for XHY because they wanted SXH to aura farm, and rule, becoming literally the most powerful person in the country because it was her dream, but it honestly didn't make sense logically. I understand that it may have been to force the fifth prince's and his mother's hand, but as we saw, he never wanted to hurt SXH, so I don't know why the writers did this. It would make more sense if XHY got treated, with SXH by his side, and then once his father died, he could become the emperor, not some newly born child. When XHY came back, I was too distracted by the fact that if he is back who is going to be the emperor, because their child can't really be an emperor if his father is alive, that's not how the chinese monarchy works, but just removing this child emperor who already did so much like changing the name of the reigning era and granting general amnesty wouldn't make sense either. This loophole really dulled down the sweetness of the special episode because I just sat there thinking what mess have the writers created?!

Overall, it was a decent drama, I would give this a watch afterall the beginning episodes truly made it worth it!

Not Every Ending Needs a Miracle

I have to admit, the opening of this drama is, unfortunately, the drama's weakest point. The first 15 minutes felt like the drama was testing my comprehension skills. The abrupt transitions between the female leads were difficult to follow, and the drama did very little to explain what was actually happening. As a viewer, I had to go online just to make sense of it. Was it a soul swap? A doppelgänger? A rebirth revenge story? Time travel? The opening throws several possibilities at you without giving enough context, making it unnecessarily confusing. However, if you're tempted to drop it because of the confusing start, I'd recommend sticking with it. Once the story settles, everything gradually falls into place.

At its core, Blossoms of Power is a reverse harem disguised as a palace political drama. Every prince wants Shen Xihe's hand in marriage, not simply because of who she is, but because marrying her means securing the allegiance of the powerful Northwest Army, giving any prince a significant military and political advantage in the race for the throne. Things become complicated as Shen Xihe carries the soul of Gu Qingzhi, the former wife of the Fifth Prince, Chang Qing. Gu Qingzhi came from a once-prominent family that was tragically wiped out because of palace conspiracies.

After Speed and Love, I knew I wanted to see more of He Yu, and thankfully, he didn't disappoint. The Crown Prince is an incredibly layered character who constantly conceals his true intentions behind a calm, fragile exterior. He Yu excels at portraying that contrast, effortlessly shifting between a sickly prince worthy of sympathy and a brilliant strategist capable of outmaneuvering everyone around him. Whenever the situation demands it, he can also become ruthless, calculating, and surprisingly intimidating. His seamless transitions between warmth and ruthlessness make the character all the more compelling. One of the drama's funniest running gags is how the Crown Prince shamelessly weaponizes his illness to get away with almost everything. Watching him conveniently become "too sick" whenever it benefited his plans is both hilarious and oddly brilliant. My favorite part of his character is that despite being capable of outsmarting the entire royal court, the Crown Prince completely loses his composure whenever it comes to Shen Xihe. Behind all that brilliance is a man who's hopelessly, unapologetically whipped. He shamelessly uses every scheme, every excuse, and every opportunity just to get a little closer to her.

The Crown Princess, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Shen Xihe is naturally reserved, emotionally guarded, and often ruthless when making decisions. Scarred by Gu Qingzhi's tragic past, she doesn't believe in love as much as she believes in security. More than romance, she values someone capable of protecting both her and her family. Because of that, the romance develops at a slow burn. They're at their best when they're plotting together, anticipating each other's moves, and quietly dismantling their enemies' schemes. Watching two equally intelligent people complement one another is incredibly satisfying.

Then there's Xiao Changqing, arguably the most tragic and pitiful second male lead in the drama. His obsession with the lingering shadow of Gu Qingzhi often borders on unsettling, especially in the way he projects those feelings onto Shen Xihe. Yet it's difficult to completely resent him since you could understand that his actions stem from past regret and guilt. His brotherhood with the Ninth Prince, Chang Ying, is another highlight of the drama. Ironically, I found Xiao Changqing's final farewell to Shen Xihe even more heartbreaking than the Crown Prince's death itself.

I have a love-hate relationship with the ending. As unpopular as it may sound, I actually preferred the story to end with the Crown Prince's death. It's incredibly rare to see a drama dedicate four full episodes to the aftermath of a main character's death, and I genuinely appreciated that choice. Those episodes beautifully illustrate just how devoted the Crown Prince was, carefully arranging everything to ensure Shen Xihe would be safe and capable of standing on her own after he was gone. To me, that bittersweet farewell already felt complete.

After all that emotional closure and a peaceful ending, I couldn't understand why the drama chose to add one final twist. Reviving the Crown Prince without explaining how he survived undermined the emotional weight of everything that came before. It felt like the drama didn't trust its own ending. Even more confusing was the sudden reappearance of Yun Hai, the Crown Prince's personal imperial physician, now with gray hair as though decades had passed, despite the story suggesting only about five years had gone by. Personally, I think the drama would have been even stronger had it embraced its bittersweet ending. Episode 36 (as final episode) had already answered the story's biggest questions, from the tragic truth behind the Crown Prince's poisoning to the motives of the villains. His death didn't feel unnecessarily tragic, it felt like life. Not every story needs a happy ending by sparing its hero.
