Average drama

After seen someclips in instagram drawn to watch this drama. But seriously it's average. First of all zhao lousi appearing very bad. Why they casted . Full artificial sometimes shows that some makeup doll is moving. Stick body. Comparing wanpeng is good. She could be main role. Bad casting. Kind of some school girl acted this weightage role. Zhao lousi not suited completely.

Story is average. Kind of one woman zhao lousi carrying whole drama. Not engaging at all. I made it complete by 1.75x speed. Uff please skip it.

Zhao Lusi was 100% great but ML and story…..

Zhao Lusi was great!!! Totally great!! 💯💯💯 But the male lead was a flop😩👎🏻 The storyline went from great to pathetic since everybody tried to help the male lead too much. And when it came to Ep.26 that they woke up on the same bed by the plan of her sister and her bf, I just easily dropped the whole series right away. Won’t be trying to finish it again after many attempts.

Feel bad for Zhao Lusi’s blood, sweat, and tears. She was so really great!! It shouldn't have been wasted because of the male lead and storyline.

I watched the first 19 episodes in just one sitting then it took me the whole week to watch Ep.20 to Ep.26!!! That tells you how bad it was.

A Weekend Drama

From the beginning of the episode, this drama gives the impression of a makjang drama genre drama, every episode is full of angst, and the audience is made anxious in every episode, and we can see that each character is written very carefully and the storyline is written very carefully, I like the nuances that make our hearts beat fast in every episode, Even though the anxiety in each episode ends when Xu Yan leaves Shen Hao Ming, and the genre changes to comedy, I know many people don't like it because some people like makjang dramas, like every anxiety brought by the drama, but there are also people who really like the comedy, because you can never go wrong with comedy. I haven’t finished watching this drama yet since this drama is still ongoing but i can’t help to write reviews because some stupid trolls wrote reviews with 1 star only to hate the drama

Amazing Drama

I like the FL, she is strong, independent, smart and gorgeous. This is the kind of drama that I like and of course with a little of comedy. It makes me feel good, specially when I am feeling blue. Lusiis really a good actress and hoping to see more of her works. I've finished most of her drama already and looking forward to see more.

A Slice of Life Kind of Drama - Lots of life lessons in it. Beautifully made and portrayed.

*spoilers ahead - and my 2-cents worth on this drama itself.*

Finally finished watching it - the whole drama was definitely a slice of life kinda story. It's learning from mistakes one made (in terms of lying) and how to overcome + fix them, plus the most important key point in a relationship, is honesty, trust, open communication, understanding and care. We definitely take others for granted and we must learn to love bravely even though our past hurts have hurt us a lot. Learning to grow from these pains, moving on and holding our heads up high.

Lying doesn't get us far, as we know, it will eventually become our downfalls - including greediness, revenge, selfishness, etc.

But with unconditional love, honesty, trust, open communication and a clear conscience in any relationship will get you further than lying. Supporting one another, not judging others, not being overly self-centered/ego-centered, believe in each other will bring together a strong foundation for both parties involved - whether that be family dynamics, relationship dynamics, friendship dynamics or coworkers too - its the same thing. Without proper, real understanding - without talking over one another or assuming things - things will be more clear in any relationships out there.

Overall, I really love this drama - there were painful moments, but also joyful moments too - the life as it is - in real life - like a rollercoaster - taking challenges thrown our ways and change them into lemonades. It's okay to cry, it's okay to make mistakes - it's not okay to lie - but to really be honest with one another is really important. Otherwise it'll cause a lot of misunderstandings between both parties involved.

I totally love the OST of this drama - beautifully written and matches the drama a lot completely.

I'm glad it was a happy ending - although I do wished to have seen Hao Chen together in the family picture too - alongside with both HaoMing's family and Xu Yan's family too! Would've loved to see Hao Chen make dumplings together with Xu Yan's grandma too! That would've been a cherry on top.

So, in my opinion after watching all of this is definitely 10/10 highly recommended.

P.S. Though this drama may not be everyone's cup of tea - but worth a try too.

P.S.S. I forgot to mention - all the actors and actresses in this drama did well! Especially the chemistry between the 2 leads - William Chan and Zhao Lusi. But coming 2nd is the Xu Yan's sister (acted by Wan Peng) and her relationship with the doctor - Yu Yi Ming (acted by Tang Xiao Tian) - their relationship are quite sweet too and willing to communicate things with one another too. Plus I love the kid - Hao Chen - he's so adorable and sweet too - plus HaoMing's family - after they open up to one another - again communication is key here - they are all the best too. Most importantly is Xu Yan's grandma, she was the best -- she was Xu Yan's ship port/shelter whenever she needs support, encouragement, escape, healing, etc. Really love this family dynamic between Xu Yan and her grandma - as well, eventually when Xu Yan introduce HaoMing to her and later down the road - to Hao Chen too. It was the best of the best, b/c Xu Yan's grandma taught life lessons to Hao Chen too when things were difficult to comprehend and digest - via an indirect method. It was effective and that's what changed the relationship between him and HaoMing and Xu Yan too.

Zhao Lusi the star you are! ✨

This drama was simply beautiful. The story, the characters, the tension—ugh, it had everything it needed to be a masterpiece. Honestly, this is one of the very few times I’ve watched a C-drama while it was still airing. Usually, they’re tough to keep up with since episodes drop daily, but since I didn’t have too many ongoing dramas at the time, it actually wasn’t that bad. Plus, I was so hooked that staying up to date was no problem at all.

The story starts with the main couple already married, which is pretty unusual since we’re used to seeing the whole “meeting → falling in love → getting together” process. But here, we get a couple that seems perfect on the surface, hiding secrets that could destroy everything. It was so satisfying to watch the female lead prove that she could stand on her own and build her future, while the male lead basically crawled back begging for forgiveness.

Zhao Lusi once again showed how talented she is—she gave us such a different character this time: mature, confident, and completely sure of what she wants. And on the other hand, this was my first drama with William Chan, and wow, I was pleasantly surprised! His character made me feel everything—anger, frustration, excitement—you name it. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

All in all, this drama was so, so good. I loved every episode, and even though there were a few things in the last episodes that didn’t completely convince me, I still enjoyed every moment of watching it. It was an emotional rollercoaster I’d gladly ride again! ♥

Can't Wait for the Breakup!

For those who expect a perfect romance: the first 15 episodes may appear to be contradictory and a revenge plot. It initially appeared artificial and contrived. It's more like a fashion show and glimpses of some good acting.

Eps 7 seems to be the turning point for me. The story gets more interesting as details of her and his characters are revealed instead of clips of memories like previous. They help each other in the background. In a way, they are similar, growing up isolated. Most importantly, they both have an agenda.

I like William Chan in this role. He nails the facade well. Great acting from both him and ZLS.

After their divorce, I think we are in for the best drama and comedy. ZLS delivers the perfect timing for comedic element in most of her drama so I don't this will be any different.

With Chinese drama, I think you have to take it with a broad perspective. There's always going to be fillers and plot holes. There's always going to be a communist theme about loving the country, China's the best, and cultural value.

Even with such a good book like As Beautiful As You, they can still mess it up because they were greedy to maximize the profit by adding fillers.

Yes, this drama has a lot of fillers but overall, I think it's acceptable because it was funny. And I think even without Lusi, I will watch it if the actress and actor have chemistry and as funny as these two leads. A lot of Chinese modern dramas are not watchable for me. At least this one has good lead actors. And the director is decent.

For me, the best drama is Love Like the Galaxy. The book was good. The director was perfect. And ZLS best fits the role of female lead.

This drama is fun to watch. If it was a Kdrama, it would have finished in 15 episodes. .

The following the Genre and tags.

This Drama is about second chance at Love, romance, slice of life and family so expect everything even some annoying stuffs.
The angst at the first few episodes, the rebuilding from beginning after removing the facade at which the leads held on to. The character growth of every character and some that refused to grow because deep within, they are wicked.
This drama is so much more and awesome, don't just because they decided to forgive and give second chances, everyone deserves second chances at happiness.

So watch and enjoy. The drama is awesome and the script is fantastic, all the actors and actresses played their role very well

Not Perfect, but head and shoulders above current Chinese dramas

Love’s Ambition is a standout in the crowded landscape of 2025 Chinese dramas, a series that, while not flawless, towers above its peers with its compelling blend of writing, directing, cinematography, editing and of course, acting. From the opening episode, it grabs you with a vibrancy that feels like a breath of fresh air, and even if the middle sags slightly compared to its electrifying start, the drama’s overall execution is leagues ahead of other modern C-dramas this year. It’s a testament to the power of stellar storytelling and, most crucially, the magnetic performances of its leads, Zhao Lusi and William Chan, that make this series unforgettable.

The heart of Love’s Ambition lies in the chemistry and likability of its main leads, Xu Yan (Zhao Lusi) and Shen Hao Ming (William Chan). A drama’s success hinges on whether viewers are invested enough to stick around, and these two deliver in spades. Their chemistry is electric, a push-and-pull of passion and tension that keeps you glued to the screen. Zhao Lusi is nothing short of a revelation as Xu Yan. Lusi has that rare, God-given talent - shared by only a handful of actors - to forge an emotional connection with the audience. When Lusi smiles, you can’t help but smile; when she cries, your heart breaks alongside hers. Her charisma, charm, and sheer likability make Xu Yan a character you root for, even when her choices frustrate or disappoint. William Chan complements her perfectly as Shen Hao Ming, a CEO whose stoic exterior masks a depth of feeling that unravels beautifully. His nuanced performance draws you in, making you sympathize with his struggles and cheer for his redemption. Together, their ability to evoke frustration, anger, and hope while keeping viewers firmly in their corner is a masterclass in acting.

The drama’s strengths extend beyond its leads. The writing sparkles with moments of emotional clarity, even if the pacing dips in the middle, occasionally lingering too long on subplots and at times awkward comedic scenes. The directing and cinematography elevate the story, with sweeping cityscapes and intimate close-ups that capture the stakes of every scene. The editing keeps the narrative tight, ensuring that even slower moments retain emotional weight. Compared to other recent C-dramas, which often lean on tired tropes or uneven production, Love’s Ambition feels polished and purposeful.

For me, the ultimate test of a drama’s greatness is whether I’d watch it again and again. With Love’s Ambition, the answer is a resounding yes. Zhao Lusi’s ability to make every moment feel personal, paired with William Chan’s commanding presence and their undeniable chemistry, makes this a series I’ll revisit with joy. It’s not perfect, but its flaws pale in comparison to its brilliance. For delivering a story that resonates so deeply and outshines its contemporaries, Love’s Ambition earns a well-deserved 10/10 stars.

Amazing drama with

TLDR: This is now one of my favourite C-Dramas and on my top recommended list for romance dramas

TW: Kidnap, Bullying, Trauma, Secrets

Story: I have to say I wasn't sure I would like this drama as it seemed like it was too simple of a story but the acting and overall production made it so much fun to watch. The FL is a tough, hard working woman who has experienced her share of trauma and bullying from growing up poor and trying to make it amongst elitists, while the ML is the typical rich and about to "inherit" high position type guy.
It starts of with the classic MIL not liking the fiancée and tries to meddle bits and a lot of covering up lies and deception but evolves beautifully as everyone gets to know each other. There are some moments where you just want to tell them to talk already and tell each other but to me, In this drama it is far less frustrating because the reasons to not say some things are grounded in the characters experiences and do make sense.

I love the couples development and growth and really like that despite the intrigue becoming a larger focus in the later episodes it does not feel too contrived or stretched for me but actually has managed to keep me well engaged. And I am the kind to get distracted FAST so I am quite impressed.

Acting: I just love Zhao Lusi in this. It is so nice to see her away from the naive "Bambi" role and in a strong independent one - although I did like her previous dramas as well with the odd exception. It really shows her acting range and ability to bring across complex emotions.
I loved the kids acting he was very believable as moody teenager and his interactions with the ML and FL were amazing. Everyone else was brilliant to I thought but I really liked those two the best

Production wise I felt it is beautifully shot with nice locations and mhsic/scenery matching the mood.

Wahooo ! Superb performances by Zhao Lu Si and William Chan

PLOT: The FL, a beautiful, hardworking, and ambitious anchorwoman, meets the ML, CEO of a large company, and falls in love. They form a relationship, but the FL knows that her background (raised by her grandmother after being abandoned by her neglectful parents) will be an obstacle. She decides to lie and pretend to be perfect to be accepted by her in-laws. However, the schemes of an obsessed rival and business competitors create rifts. Later, the FL discovers that the ML was also faking, and decides to divorce. After she leaves, the ML realizes his feelings and tries to win her back.

+++ The entire show is carried by the magnificent couple Zhao Lu Si & William Chan, two really great actors (´♡‿♡`) (´♡‿♡`). Their interactions are intense, natural, and their chemistry is electric!
+++ Excellent cast (all of them) who bring to life well-developed characters. Let's not even mention Fu Bo Han (son), who is, as always, fabulous and will certainly have a great career.
+++ Flawless direction with superbly crafted cinematography: sets, framing, lighting, slow motion, costumes, etc.
+++ Catchy OSTs (now on my playlist :)
+++ For once, the chinese police serves a purpose :) and is effective.

### The business section is sometimes annoying. I understand that this area needs to be simplified to be accessible to the viewer and not boring. However, empty presentations and public speeches filled with platitudes, make this aspect artificial.
### A few inconsistencies in the storyline: relying on a liar's DNA analysis without verification, the friendly Chinese-Russian couple, etc.
Moreover, it almost feels like another screenwriter took over halfway through the drama: Part 1 is tense, painful, and dramatic / Part 2 is lighter, a comedy, with a different tone.

=> Almost a Masterpiece :) A series to watch and rewatch without a doubt.
************************************************************

Love This Drama

Who can beat Zhao Lusi in acting skills? I would say at the very least,90% of her dramas are hits. Even her ML will benefit after the drama is over. I am definitely a fan girl to her. This drama has definitely had me hooked from the start. I groan at only being able to watch 2 episodes a day. The second ML and FL are definitely adding interest and character to the drama. I have always loved the actress who plays Zhao Lusi's MIL. I don't always know the name of Chinese actors (my bad and the names are hard to remember), but I'm always happy to see them. Be patient and enjoy this drama. We all have told lies, just not to this extent. But it wouldn't be very interesting if it wasn't over-the-top. Sit back and enjoy the roller coater ride. There are plenty of laughable moments also.
