If you're watching this, Make sure to turn off your logic!

This is the typical short chinese drama where it's somehow erotic with the leads kissing and sleeping with each other almost every episode, the romance is fiery and enjoyable at times, yet there is not real reason or explanation behind what they do.

The writing is very much flawed and it doesn't even make sense, but it's a fun watch. The budget is clearly not high and it's just a simple drama to pass time.

Overall, if you're a fan of such genres and dramas, it's OK.

A fine spicy artisan cheese for red-flag ML lovers.

ML = Ryan Ren is a fireball of talented hotness. He has a devastating sanpaku stare, and knows how to strike the right tone between comedy and deadly sexy-serious, which is often a difficult balance for actors. He's amazing.

FL = Li Xing Yao is a magical combination of sexy and cute, and she happens to also be an incredible actress. She is so natural on camera playing her role, that there are parts where she sounds like a RL person caught on hot mic.

THESE TWO BRING THE SPICE! If it had been two other lesser actors in these roles, the story would be unwatchable. If this drama is worth a watch at all, it's because the ML and FL are both total powerhouse actors that carried this piece of shit script across the finish line.

Director = Did a pretty damn quality job, for a short-length. Clean, attractive camerawork and an unrushed feeling as far as pacing. Great styling, solid bgm.

The Story = Cheese lovers rejoyce!!! This one's for you. Its just a silly thrill-ride. This isn't wall-to-wall insanity like My Lethal Man. It's just a light snack, and amuse-bouche if you will. But it's entertaining and sexaayyy.

The Weak Points: Firstly. They could have gone a little bit darker with the tone, because this ML is so smouldering and intense onscreen, they could have really bent the story a little bit more to the serious and obsessive side to highlight his strengths and match his energy. The FL carries an aura of sweetness that could have really juxtaposed to that well. They gave off a really good "devil/angel" vibe that they could have explored further and didn't. Secondly. The last episode got lazy. It's sort of OK, but mainly it's facepalm city.

The Strong Points = Breakout performances by both lead actors. The comedy plays well. The story moves along quickly, lending itself to a one-night binge session. The high spice level throughout the show is a nice change of pace from our usual c-drama fare. Great direction that turned a garbagey screenplay into a very watchable drama.

It was fun, and I'd do it again.

Slow build-up but worth it

I really enjoyed this series, yes there is a slow build-up to the real identity reveal which happens at (EPISODE 24) BUT like i said it's worth it.

A few unnecessary things do happen that have you like šŸ˜’bruh reallyšŸ˜….

In my opinion cute, funny drama worth a watch and the chemistry between the ML and FML.

Hot red flags

If you are going to watch Love in the Edge of Divorce, all logic and mental preservation must be put aside. I like to think of this story as a melodrama in a web drama form, which to be honest it's not a good combination but each episode it's like 15 minutes long (including the opening and ending credits), so it's not all that bad.

While I liked leading lady, I wished more than once that her threats on divorce would be make good. Leading man is a walking red flag: domineering (in the worst way), quick to jump to the worst conclusions, and spew hurtful words, only to change his mind five seconds later. No, really. Remember each episode it's 15 minutes long.

There are some elements that make this story fun but I wish they would have used the 31 long episodes to develop a proper story instead of giving 15 minute chapters with repetitive issues.

The music is a great, tho. Really enjoyed the soundtrack and even download it to listen in the future.

Other than that, I can't say much. I think this might be a drama to watch while you are cleaning the house or ironing, so you don't have to pay much attention but won't miss anything.

It’s really sloppy writing and directing in my opinion. I mean (you’ll see), just some things are so unrealistic it’s ridiculous. He’s about to look at marriage certificate when phone rings so he doesn’t. I mean you look at it while on phone is probably what ninety nine percent of humans would do. There’s no slow motion in opening a chinese certificate , come on. On and on he gets close to finding out just before something intercepts. I get they’re trying to build the suspense but by the second interruption, it’ll only build your bad vocabulary and brain spasms. Yes, nineteen episodes and she’s still at dodgeball full swing.

BUT, it’s not bad. As a commenter said in comments, watch with your smart cells off. It’s a sweet popcorn watch with whole kernels here and there. Leads are eye candy and seriously though, main guy really does have smoldering eyes that are too lovely to skip over. Lots of skinship that some see as aggressive. I know it’s fiction only in my sight so you can say it’s weird that I find it romantic pursuit.

So, don’t be turned off too quickly and give it a try if you’re looking for a fluffy sweet romance. If you’re serious minded and hate overloaded cliches and plot holes, it’s not for you.

Ridiculously hilarious

I watched Love on the Edge of Divorce with my brain fully switched off and honestly? No regrets. The plot is completely unrealistic, the twists are over-the-top, and the logic took a vacation — but man, did I have a good time! Every time I thought, ā€œthere’s no way it can get more dramatic than this,ā€ the writers proved me wrong. Every. Single. Time.

Plot logic? Nonexistent — and that’s part of the fun. Random hook-up with your legal spouse you’ve never met? Of course. Him leaping from behind the couch like a budget action hero just to pounce on her for a makeout session? Iconic. One of the most unintentionally hilarious scenes I’ve ever seen. I can’t stop imagining how many takes it took to film that without the actors breaking down laughing. And not recognizing your own wife for three years? Totally fine, I guess — except… who took that marriage registration photo? And then she shows up to design his villa under a fake name, and he ends up falling for her all over again? Naturally. Just another day in this drama’s reality.

The main couple somehow makes it work despite the plot being held together with chewing gum and slow-mo stares. He’s basically a walking checklist of red flags — controlling, intense, emotionally unavailable, and she spends most of the show caught between pretending to resist and letting him bulldoze his way into her personal space. Would I tolerate this in real life? Absolutely not. Did I eat it up in this chaotic drama? Without hesitation.

Honestly, a better twist would’ve been Penny returning on purpose—fully aware of who he is — with the intention to seduce and dump him after the disrespect she faced from him and his mom. Watching her get caught in her own revenge plot and fall for him anyway? Now that would’ve made her choices feel more deliberate and her emotional journey more satisfying. But instead, we got the accidental identity hide-and-seek version, which still worked in a chaotic way.

The side characters held this wild script together, delivering dramatic nonsense with straight faces and surprisingly decent acting. If you're expecting logic, coherence, or realism—this ain’t it. But if you’re here to laugh, cringe, roll your eyes, and have a ridiculous amount of fun? Welcome aboard. This show is six hours of pure, entertaining nonsense—and I loved every minute of it.

To sum it all up, it's giving the colour red ?

(my first time writing a review, and not even for a good reason😩🤧)

HERE IM GONNA GIVE A LIST ON NEGATIVE COMMENTS (giving you reasons why to not watch it, but for the romance, you should watch it i guess? if you like the later things I will waffle about)

As soon as you press ep 1, your hit with a spicy scene, so for those who are into those drama with brainless plots and, has spicy scenes ofcourse, then by all means watch it

IF NOT then guys...don't...please don't....I watch many of those types to complain to myself as to how idiotic these characters are😭

like to those who say the female character is not at fault or the guy is also not at fault....BOTH of them are at fault...and you can't argue that...I don't even know what went through the script writer to write a bunch of randomness, like the lying doesn't even make sense.

This drama would've been less infuriating, IF the FL straight up told him that she isn't just PENNY (the name she goes by as a designer who the ML meets her as) but also his WIFE. like it would saved a whole load of crapness and could've seen a built up of their relationship of the ML trying to woo her after finding out she isn't some stuck up brat who's after his money or the FL having a certain independency and being, you know, a girl boss! even when we even got to that scene she wasn't even depending her self but to her ex and her husband who she even stated, she wants a divorce...like!?!?!? I don't even know what went through her head, like did she forget she wanted a divorce with him?....the independence isn't independencingšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø I know she hid her identity due to her being afraid of him (her husband) being mad and leaving her but....really? after being left alone 3 years she's just gonna let him enter her life and literally control her?...any normal person would slap a person like that in the face and ask for a divorcešŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø. And then the audacity this girl to tell lies over lies such as when faking to the guy she is married to her bestie (who is already in a relationship....I felt so bad for him🫠 this guy looked genuinely scared 😭) I just was done as to how random this drama would get,
and i can't lie but I switched off my brain whilst watching this drama most of the time

you just have to throw away your commen sence and brain out the window when watching this drama

literally otherwise you'll be screaming at your screen like an idiot (like me some of the time)

NOW let's get to the ML, I mean I have a alot more to talk about the FL but, let's not downgrade her TOO much since the ML really needs a slap on the face...and I'm glad the FL did so....which was powerless. I mean if you like the possessive type, then you will love him for whatever he does in the first many ep, not really the first but most of the drama up until ep 23 when he finds out Penny's true identity that she is his wife (it dies down a bit). if I were the FL I would literally cry and call emergency services, like there is no way I'm letting all THAT happen. like this guy FOUND OUT that the girl he has a crush on is married to her bestie (he doesn't know its fake) but STILL trys to find ways to get together with her like....what!?!?!?...

I mean overall this drama made me curse my screen and made be like what am I watching? BUT it was mostly watching to see how much this drama would annoy me..but I guess it isn't that bad??

I don't even know how and why Ryan ren picked this script...but he did play his character well, like really well

most of the characters where annoying, like the boy crazy childhood friend and the delulu sister, like I was gonna give her a pass as to when she was trying to get the company to herself, like WOW she is villaining WELL, like her manipulating the ML childhood friend into trying to get rid of the FL whilst appearing to be on the FL side was AMAZING, like was doing her role as a villan well....but to get it crushed by how she is still delulu and wants to STILL get together with her brother in law...like EXCUSE ME? I had high hopes for her as a villain, once a delulu boy crazy girl, their gonna be the same. one things for sure, they were definitely not girls girl.

But i was hoping her sister to not be delulu and to not be like her mother, and arrogant sly crappy person, ans she turned out to be like that, I mean it would've been nice to add another NON red flag into the show, her as the little sister on the FL side and steering her away from her Red flagged husband who didn't even bother building a relationship with her for 3 years...BUT NO they had to make her bump into the ML some random day in the past and her falling in love with him at first sight...like how the hell did the love in first sight, become so strong.. like?

to be honest the green flagged character is the FL ex, like he was actually not bothersome and usefully in the show, like he didn't really seem like a filler character, and the other character is the grandfather, like we OBVIOUSLY can't forget about him. This guy saved me when I was on the verge of brain rot from whenever the FL his her identity

The mother in law...I don't even want to talk about her, to sum her character all up, she was a blind cow until the end, her actually listening to facts instead of the crap that she was fed from her sons childhood friend

now that you heard all the negatives, it's your choice to still watch it I guess? I mean I would recommend it for the romance, but not for the actual plot

BUT THATS ITšŸ¤— (I basically ranted out my frustration on this review from this show)

The Art of Deliciously Bad Decisions

Alright, so this one falls straight into the spicy guilty pleasure category—meaning it’s not for the faint of heart or anyone looking for deep plots and moral righteousness. But for those of us who came for the unhinged romance, skinship, and a ML who’s absolutely lost in the sauce—we EAT. šŸ¤šŸ”„

Will this drama win awards? Absolutely not.
Do we care? Also absolutely not.

The moral compass? Oh, that thing was yeeted out the window before they even hit record. šŸ˜‚ But listen, if you’ve been around the block with full-length dramas and minis, you already know what you signed up for. For future viewers—just buckle up and enjoy the wild ride. If you try to analyze it too hard, you’ll be staring at your screen like šŸ‘€ the whole time.

Final verdict: Pure, chaotic fun with a side of crazy in love ML energy—and honestly, that’s exactly what I came for. šŸ«¶šŸ”„

Crappy storyline

This could have been so much better.

Arranged marriage- both didn’t even see each other, married only on paper. After 3 years, they want to get a divorce. Somehow FL knows who ML is, but ML has NO IDEA how his wife looks like. And he didn’t know until ep23!! Ridiculous #1.

So he actually meets his wife, but under the name Penny (he knows his wife as Sheng Mian) and falls in love w her unknowingly. All this while, still hating Sheng Mian thinking she is a schemer and just wanting his money and investments. To rough out all this time, penny could have revealed her true identity to him, because she also starts falling in love with him… but she doesn’t! And still wants to divorce him!!!

She keeps lying and lying.. all the way till the final episode- lying that she lost the baby, but she’s actually still pregnant. In the final episode- it starts with her saying she wants to get a divorce. AGAIN! And it ends with him proposing, and she accepts 🤣🤣🤣 go figure.

Sigh, such poor script writing. Anyhow, it only 11mins each episode. And there’s a lot of forced kisses and shoving, if you’re ok with this kinda stuff.

Misunderstandings^2 - ML Is Entitled Baby

This is very much a turn your brain off show. Beyond that it revolves around: how long can a man who has NEVER met his wife continue to have an affair WITH his wife while NOT knowing she IS his wife. That is essentially the plot. Yes there are small other things happening aside from this major plot but they are just that, small other minor plots.

What follows is a woman CONSTANTLY hearing how much he hates her and despises her AS he's kissing up to her telling her how much he adores her as the "other woman". Again, he so thoroughly hates and despises this woman he has NEVER once met.

I was vaguely entertained by the ML's clown acting but overall I just could not turn my brain off enough to enjoy a man who so thoroughly did not care about his original marriage OR her "fake" marriage because only what HE wanted was important.

about chemistry&stroyline - my opinion

Firstly, thats my opinion.
I really liked main leads chemistry but im not ok with the drama's storyline (i knowww the story was very cringy but cute xx)

31 episode however every episode has 14-16 minutes. It changes every episode.

Ryan Ren and Li Xing Yao's chemistry is really HOT and cute i really love their aura.
I'll gave it 5 because i really loved 'main leads' chemistry. Their harmony seems worth watching this series.

I think they should star together again in a romantic drama with a better theme.

that's it goodbye.

Steamy scenes and sexy kisses

Another completely biased review from me to you.
This was surprisingly good short web series. The ML is smoking hot, which is my favorite kind in these little series. 😘The FL is gorgeous and definitely what you would call a grey character, but I like her. And she's not a toddler!šŸ˜ The acting of the leads is really well done.šŸŽ I've watched a lot of these short series and a bunch of them seem like amateur hour or maybe a high school project, but this wasn't bad!šŸ‘
The secondary characters were all pretty awful acting wise (sorry guys). Or should we say over-acting wise? šŸ˜‰Why do they always have the 'villains' over playing their roles?🦹
The OST was really good!
Nice chemistry between the leads, some really nice steamy scenes, excellent kisses, and some things I don't think I've seen in a c-drama before (The elbow in the dong and the comments after? Color me surprised! 🤣). And they were surprisingly creative in all their 'sex' scenes in the first scene in the first episode. That first scene was a great way to start this series!šŸ”„šŸŖ
And a lovely happy endingšŸ‘What more could you ask for? And have I mentioned it's short? 🄰
