Butchered Characters, Pointless Side Plots, Flat Ending with Extras for Finalists
I’ll preface this by saying, I understand the point they were trying to make with proving that money and greed always win, but they could’ve done so in many different ways.First off, they ruined Daeho (388) so much. The English translation makes him seem so much worse than he is. They mistranslated him “lying about the military”. He actually said he was some kind of a civil servant (basically a replacement to fulfill his military duty), because he was deemed too unstable to be in the marines. Even if he did lie, was that really the worst thing someone did in those games? He was scared, as was everyone else. It was his way of trying to protect himself. Either way, his storyline is rushed. We needed some background on how we got to the point of him lying.
Speaking of Daeho, it makes no sense that Gihun went on a literal manhunt for him and killed him in cold blood, yet he had so much hesitation in killing 100 and the other “O” team members, in which he ended up not being able to do it. Yes, he was mad at Daeho, but he was also close with him. He didn’t like 100 from the start.
Now Hyungi’s (120) death made no sense either. You’re telling me someone in the special forces with that much field training would have let their guard down so much as to stand in a doorway with their back turned for that long in the middle of a bloodbath?? She absolutely would not have.
Also, killing off almost all the MC’s in one episode just to have the last half of the season be 75% extras was stupid. Again, we could’ve gotten our point across about money and greed while still having more of the MC’s present. If anything, it would’ve hit harder if they were the ones having to betray each other, like in season 1.
The side plot with 246 and guard 11 was drawn out way too much. Like great, she saved him cause she knew his daughter, but we didn’t need as much background as we got to be able to see that point. So much scene time was used for their side plot and it was unnecessary.
And, as much as I love Wi Ha Joon, detective Jun-Ho‘s side plot was the most useless. He went on a blind search the entire 2nd and 3rd season, just to find the island after everyone was already dead, ask Inho “why?” and get left on heard, abort mission, then become a billionaire adoptive dad. Like what??
Then here we have 333, they created so much space for him to step up and stop being a pos baby daddy, just to have him not give a frick really about Junhee dying. THEN, he proceeds to even try to sacrifice his own baby to win??? Like, we knew he was a terrible boyfriend and soon to be father, but he wasn’t a psychopath. Season 2 Myunggi would NOT have gone that far. Whether he was really going to kill the baby or not, it was crazy he even threatened it. And let’s be real, with how selfish he was being in the 3rd season, if it was him and the baby left, he would’ve chosen himself.
They made so many characters basically into completely different people, which we have to remember, season 2 to season 3 was really only an overnight difference, so they all wouldn’t have changed that much.
I will say though, I did enjoy Namgyu’s drug induced personality and him mocking Thanos the entire time. I also enjoyed the unexpected team up with 333 during hide and seek (until 333 killed 120 for no reason). I also enjoyed Minsu’s drug induced hallucinations, and I’m glad he made it to the finals.
I also enjoyed the dynamic of 149 and 007 this season. It was heart breaking that she had to kill her own son, but she couldn’t let him turn into something he’s not by using a mother and her newborn. Her suicide was also very sad. But, it was one of the only plots that made sense to the origins of the characters.
Anyways, to sum it up, they butchered so many of the characters by changing their core values up over night, wasted screen time on useless side plots, and wasted the potential of a more impactful ending by using main characters instead of a bunch of “O” team extras.
Oh, and also, the last scene with the “American” squid games. Please, don’t.

Squid Game 3
There are two positive aspects of the third season;Firstly, none of our predictions and mentalities came true
Second, this season was the darkest season of the series!
In general, that particular expectation that I had from the final season and the ending was fulfilled👌
❌Spoilers:
It was just a little bit of a slap😁in the face and the little girl was a little bit of a jerk.
Now they may not have a choice.
✋I don't want it to go on at all, especially with American cooking! (An unreliable rumor is complicated)
Even if I have curiosity or ambiguities left
My main reason is that somehow the story coherence of the series may be lost as it continues...
That is, for example, the interpretation that I personally had of the fate of the main role, or especially the impression I had of the last sequence, will be completely ruined!
It's true that it's just a series, but some stories, because they show the facts in the best way, it's better to forget that they're a subseries and don't mess with themselves
📌 "Not every series is just a series."
🎬All in all, it was an extremely meaningful and infinitely allusive series for every stratum and arena
Naturally, it is much more controversial than trying to summarize the generalities and details of a post in the caption of a post
I'm not saying that the best in the world is Netflix or butter (in this genre) because compared to some series, the overall idea was new and more specific than the development of its storyline, while other series are usually more focused on the maze of their process
🍁I would like to add and emphasize, do not go to any film because of the many compliments of others, because your expectations from it will be very, very high, and in this way, there will be no erasure.

An amazing ending
I feel like I'm the only person that loved this season 😞😞 It's a real shame !! It definitely was the most heart-breaking season, the death that broke me the most was player 120's (I'll never forget the way 222 looked at 333) and player 149's. The character development of some of the players (mostly 333, 456, 125) was amazing, and the story was so unpredictable !! I know a lot of people are complaining about the ending but I consider it fulfilling, the way the Front Man gave his brother 222's newborn was so sweet idc 💔 If Netflix ever considers releasing an American spin-off, I'll definitely be tuning in, even though nothing can beat the OG Squid Game 💗Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing start, Best games, disappointing ending
So basically, Squid Game 3 started off with a bang! The first two games were probably the best games in the Squid Games so far!!! especially the Hide and Seek Game has destroyed me!!! Not only because of the set up of the game which required the red players to kill the blue players, actively!!! basically, in order to survive, they had to commit murder!!! which was quite sick!!! And then the fact that so many crucial characters died in this game (we all know who we are the saddest about… 😭😭😭), and then the baby coming was just like “what?? seriously??” Tbh I still have mixed feelings about the baby but I will share my theory later. One scene that was horrific as well was when the old mother had to kill her son!!! I guess most people will not understand the reason behind this but for my part I could totally understand her… first of all, no mother would want their children to become the murderer of a new mother. She probably thought that “instead of him killing someone else, I will free my son from this burden by killing him.” This aspect of the drama has shocked and intrigued me a lot!!! this point of view was insane and something I have never seen in any other movie or drama before. One of the most crucial scenes in this drama I think…
One tiny little thing I didn’t like about the Hide and Seek game was the fact that Gi-hun killed Dae-ho!!! He was mad at him and hunted him down bcs he thought his friend died bcs of Dae-ho. I felt really sad because in the end he just got scared which is a very humane reaction. I wish Gi-hun had killed the old greedy entrepreneur instead…
The jump rope game was crazy too!!!! not to mention the song omgggg!!!! Squid Game songs are always such bangers!!! And they kept getting better and better too!!!
Mingle in S2 was already great and ngl it would have been way mess fun without Thanos dancing to it 😂😂😂 But the jump rope song was next level!!! Kudos to the music producers of this season!
And, well the games and music are about it when it comes to the things I liked in this season!!!
After the junp rope game everything went downhill!!!
From the finalist to the end of the last game, everything was disappointing and left us feeling like “that was it?”
First of all, I hated the final players!!!! Idk why nobody could kill that old greedy fart!!! And apart from Minsu and player 333 who tf were the other guys???? They weren’t even that important!!! Why were they in the final???? I just don’t get it!!! I wish Thanos had not died but made it to the final game omg how fun that would have been!!!
Second, the fact that the police officer Junho doesn’t get any answers to his questions frustrated me soooo muchhhh!!!! Like, I understand that Gi-hun had to die and I do feel like his death in order to save the baby was symbolic. But I wished there was more of a conversation and exchange between the brothers aka Junho and the Frontman! And also I am still curious in what relationship the former Frontman, Il-nam stood to the new Frontman In-ho.
Then, what was that ending in America with Cate Blanchett as the new recruiter??? It definitely hinted on an American version of Squid Game coming up!!! and idk if i like it or not!!! And tbh, I genuinely feel like Squid Game might have had a different ending initially, before the success was so overwhelming and before netflix asked the director to split season 2 to two parts. I honestly think that the director was asked by Netflix to change the ending in a way that it still leaves room to play in case they want to film another version. And I guess thats why the story between the brothers was unresolved!
One thing at the end that I did like was No-Eul’s arc and how she rescued the father of the girl and then it even showed how she met them outside at the theme park again. That was a slightly happier moment from the otherwise depressing end.
I am also curious about what will happen to Junho and the baby and Gi-hun’s daughter.
If they make an American version, I assume that the frontman and Junho will be the only Korean characters from the original series, continuing their dispute in the American version… that’s my prediction…
My theory as to why the baby brought in to the games and why it survived is probably because of the following reasons: It could have a biblical / religious / spiritual meaning, highlighting the importance of new life and how it is worth risking so many people’s lives for a new life. Also, it showed the evilness of some or most of the remaining players and how the majority of them was ready to kill off an innocent baby instead of dying showed how the majority of the world, especially roch, old greedy men do not care about newborns, or children whatsoever and the reason why society is crumbling and why we do not have enough children on this earth anymore… Another point that was proven right by the frontman: greed as the driving motivator for the majority of humans when it should be the appreciation of new life. And I assume thats also why Gi-hun’s death was so symbolic! He who has also been driven by greed before he joined the games has realized that unlike himself, most people will never stop to be greedy for money. Although he did change, he realized that that’s not the case for the majority of humans…
In general it’s a good watch but the ending is very messy and disappointing…

Perfect conclusion
They did an incredible job with Squid Game Season 3. The ending was realistic and true to the tone the series has always maintained. I know a lot of the negative reviews are coming from people who want a perfect, happy ending where everything wraps up neatly.. but that’s just not what this show is about.Life isn’t fair, and Squid Game never pretends it is. This season reflects that truth in a raw, blunt, and powerful way. If you’re looking for a feel-good escape from reality, this isn’t the show for you. But if you want something that challenges you, confronts harsh realities, and stays grounded in the world we live in, Season 3 delivers exactly that.
There were so many moments where I felt absolutely distraught for the characters. I kept wondering how on earth they were going to wrap it all up.. I’m glad they didn’t force a tidy, perfect resolution. That wouldn’t have felt real. Instead, they gave us an ending that was honest, thought-provoking, and entirely fitting for this series.

Don't jumb in with too much expectations!!
Story:The story is the continuation of the ones from s1 and s2 . It stayed that way but it lacked the thrill that we had in the previous seasons. If you are going in looking for that unexpected twist, then drop your expectations. I don't think it was bad but it was too predictable and disappointing for me personally (personal opinion only, I have heard different opinions than this). The fact that every character that was fighting for humanity went through too much. The 333 personally disappointed me too much as a human (the actor did a fantastic job making me hate that character). You have to watch it if you have already watched the first two seasons since we need an ending. And also our 'dora' does make some progress (iykyk😅)
Acting:
The only thing that I can garanty in this show is acting. The actor did a fantastic job in their characters. If the acting was boring I would have dropped it without finishing. The front man had his facial expressions on point but he was not given enough space to do things. The actors carried the show on their back. For me 222 was fantastic in terms of performance and 333 did so well that I questioned entire human existence.
Ending:
Disappointed personally. Yes the goal of the show was this ending but, for a show that was this dramatic and this twisted the ending was too simple. It is said a simple but powerful ending but for me it was too predictable. I wanted something more serious. The bad ones can't just go like that after this much effort. Why is there no explanation about the game, the origin, the real creator. I am not satisfied with the ending. I need more. If you want to give a s4 I am up for it if it can fill these gaps. What's with all that tail ending.
Overall:
Do watch it if you have already watched previous seasons. Curiosity is unbearable for us drama watchers so you can finish this one out of curiosity. But don't expect that much from this. Just a predictable continuation of previous seasons.
It's just a few episodes so it's your choice.
Final verdict:
*Could be better*

NO BETTER ENDING
As a loyal Squid Game fan, I definitely waited for a long time for this to release. I have seen over the internet that many people are sad and disappointed over the ending and Gi hun's death. But, this is the only correct ending. If Gi hun did not die, the story would loose all meaning. In the last episode the Frontman asks Gi hun "Do you still have faith in people?" Gi hun entered the games again and tried to save everyone despite the fact that they kept on voting for the game to continue and turned against him. Gi hun sacrificing his life for a new life, a baby, was his answer to the Frontman. He did have faith in people, people like himself. I rarely give a series 10 stars...but this one really really hit hard. Humanity exists, this is what Gi Hun made the Frontman realise."We are not horses, we are humans, humans are...."
So this is the most iconic and the last line of Gi Hun. According to me this implies that as horses, humans cannot be used in games for the sake of fun and the reason he doesn't complete the sentence is because, humans are made of emotions, emotions are not explanable :)

I don’t know what is darker — the message and plot of this season or the audience reaction...
If you’re going into this season with the hopes of a happy ending, well… you’re going to be disappointed.Squid Game Season 3 doesn’t hold back. It digs deep into the ugliest corners of human nature. greed, desperation, betrayal and captures them with terrifying precision. This season wasn’t made to comfort you. It’s meant to shake you, and in that regard, it absolutely succeeds.
All of the actors gave absolutely incredible performances. Every single one of them committed so deeply to their roles that it felt painfully, uncomfortably real. They deserve all the awards. Oscars, Emmys, everything. And the show itself? Just as masterfully done. Whether you liked the ending or not, you can’t deny the level of talent on display.
But what shocked me more than the story itself was how people reacted to it. So many viewers are genuinely upset that it didn’t end the way they wanted, like this is some fairy tale where the “good guys” win and everything wraps up neatly. Even worse, I’ve seen countless comments defending player 333’s choice to wanting kill his own daughter for the prize money. Some even said Gi-hun should have gone through with it instead of taking his own life to save the daughter.
I mean… really?
I don’t know what’s darker: the themes explored in this season, or the fact that so many people see the horror and think “Yeah, I would’ve done the same.”
Season 3 doesn’t give you easy answers. It forces you to sit with uncomfortable truths. And maybe that’s why it’s such a powerful piece of storytelling. Not because it tells us what we want to hear, but because it reflects what we might not want to admit about ourselves.
And yes. I understand the controversy around the one particular scene that hints at Netflix turning this into a franchise. I wasn’t thrilled either. But let’s be real: that’s on Netflix, not director Hwang. People forget that Netflix owns the IP. Hwang didn’t even profit from Season 1 (and i highly doubt he earned anything from season 2 & 3 either). That scene wasn’t him selling out, that was him doing what he probably had to do to keep his story alive. Honestly, he probably added it just to make the Netflix execs happy.
That being said, I personally won’t be tuning into a potential American version or spin-off — unless Hwang himself decides to do a backstory series. That, I’d be curious to see. But I’m not going to sit here and say the entire season “sucked” because of one reveal near the end. You watched six hours of brilliant writing, direction, and acting — just because one scene didn’t land for you doesn’t mean the whole thing is suddenly worthless.
In the end, Squid Game Season 3 did exactly what it was meant to do: hold up a mirror. Whether we like what we see in the reflection… that’s on us.

A worthy finale (no matter what others think)
Before diving into Season 3, a little advice: watch it right after Season 2, and view it as a continuation of a larger arc, like only one season. That mindset makes the journey feel even richer and helps deepen your connection to the characters. It’s clear this season wasn’t part of the original plan, but the creative team managed to expand the world meaningfully. Yes, the theme of money is still present, but thankfully, this season goes well beyond that. It explores deeper motivations, personal histories, and the choices people make under pressure.
Not everything is neatly tied up, some storylines, like a certain character many of us were hoping to see again, are left a bit unresolved. Still, the emotional and narrative payoff feels satisfying in the bigger picture.
The games this time are visually good and thoughtfully designed. A lot of blood as expected... Some might critique the characters for lacking flair, but I found the performances grounded and fitting for where the story takes us. The acting remains top-notch, balancing tension and emotion with subtlety and impact.
Whether or not the season gets bad reviews, I believe it stands strong, just like Season 2 outshone many other series in their later runs.
And hey, remember how Netflix turned "La Casa de Papel" into a global phenomenon? Feels familiar, right?

Rushed Ending
I loved this season however, the ending felt extremely rushed and it also didn’t make much sense to me. I don’t get why there was a female recruiter at the end in an alleyway unless they’re making an American spin-off. Either way, I don’t think there should be any spin-offs, the original is good enough.I like that it’s an extension of the last season. They don’t mention her daughter a lot. I don’t get the ending part with 011 though. Mad that they killed two of my wives off :(

mid ending
i’m sad it ended this way bc it felt like they were trying to close the door once and for all and left a lot of things still up in the air. the baby winning seems like a decent finish but leaves so many unanswered questions. nothing really happens, no one gets caught or punished for what they did on that island so we’re left pretty unsatisfied. no sense of justice except for the “good” guys getting the money, fixing up a motel, or getting word from your long lost daughter. all in all, there was more they could’ve added and a lot of open doors they should’ve given an answer to if the writers wanted. not sure why they chose to go this way 😞 like after all his searching the guy finds his brother and then BAM. he gets a baby and the prize money. that’s it???? ALL HAT WORK? YEARS OF DEVOTED SEARCH. just for that. none of it makes sense imo i was left pretty bored at the end.Was this review helpful to you?
