A surprisingly interesting watch
I had pretty low expectations (like one normally does for short cdramas) but this was surprisingly more than just excessive steamy scenes and hot actors.PROS:
1. I absolutely love their relationship dynamic: I love how he is always by her side supporting her decisions and how he is always willing to hear her out when she has suggestions. He also never broadcasts his actions when he helps her out.
2. FL representation: Most of these dramas paint the FL as an innocent submissive doe-eyed young girl who eventually submits to the ML but here they have made her a pretty strong and self-reliant individual who is not afraid to express her thoughts. they also managed to achieve a delicate balance in making her both a smart, strong and bold person while also maintaining her gentle and innocent nature (usually FLs who are strong are also quite obnoxious)
3. Business: The plot actually made sense for once and I love how the ML is not a rich billionaire CEO but rather a humble and hardworking man (I also think that the ML's actor is more suited to these roles than the hotshot CEO roles)
4. Relationship progress: I'm glad that they both take things slow and don't jump into anything, they start of as strangers with a small attraction for each other and they take things slow and explore each other's personality more before committing themselves to the relationship.
5. Fl's Background: honestly i think it was unnecessary to make her a rich heiress but it ok since it doesnt really play a major role in the plot.
6. Maturity: This show has some of the most mature leads that even some full length high budget shows lack and I think it was very well executed.
7. Great OSTS
8. Great visuals
CONS:
1. Should have been a full length show: This def. deserved a higher budget and length because almost everything about it was perfect, it wasn't your classic soap opera and the side plots were engaging enough to keep me hooked towards the end.
2. I wish there was a bit more romance
All in all this was a pretty good show and I'm glad I watched it. If you are expecting something hot and steamy you will be disappointed but it was pretty good considering my past experience of nonsensical plots.

A love story that needed more than just STEEL
So, the story kicks off with Lu Ran, a college girl who fakes her death to escape an arranged marriage — classic move. But surprise! Fate has jokes because she ends up under the same roof as Qi Shenfeng, the very man she was supposed to marry. Plot twist? Kind of… but not really. They start living together due to some convenient circumstances, and Lu Ran ends up helping him with his steel factory (yes, that’s where most of the drama tries to flex). She brings ideas, he brings support. It’s a partnership that slowly evolves from mutual respect to love — predictable but warm.
Now let’s talk spice — or the lack of it. The plot moves like a gentle breeze over a steel plant… steady, unhurried, and not particularly exciting. Most of the "twists" revolve around factory struggles, which is fine, but also felt like a missed chance to add real emotional depth or tension.
BUT — and it’s a big but — Qi Shenfeng as a male lead? Absolute husband goals, especially for south asian households . He supports Lu Ran’s education, stands up to his mother for her, saves for a home, and doesn’t expect her to morph into a sacrificial goddess for his family. He’s emotionally intelligent, secure, and doesn’t treat his wife’s dreams like a side hobby. That alone gets him major points.
The cast? Great. LZ and Fang Tong did their best with what they were given. The chemistry was okay — more simmer than sizzle — but honestly, the script didn’t help.
Costumes and setting were charmingly 80s rural — worked well with the story timeline.BGM was hell boring and sometimes played louder than dialogues I mean who is doing the music edit , really.
Final verdict? I won’t rewatch. I wouldn’t recommend either. It’s a one-time watch with a golden male lead in a tin-can plot.

Too Much Business, Not Enough Romance
I watched this drama mainly because of the leads, and I was drawn in by the pretty 80s village setting. The first half was decent and had some potential, but unfortunately, the second half really fell flat. It became lazy and repetitive — the second leads kept causing business problems, and the main couple would just swoop in to solve them every time. The story ended up focusing way too much on business instead of romance, which made it feel a bit dull. On top of that, the chemistry between the leads just wasn’t there. The kiss scenes, in particular, felt awkward — which was disappointing, especially since Fang Tong usually has great chemistry with her co-stars.
I’d give this one a 6.5 overall. Honestly, not worth the watch in my opinion.

Good start but Where is the revenge?
I loved how they really tackled some social issues, and the FL was clever, sly, and playful in all the right ways. She knew she had to break off her wedding and run to find herself, get educated, and live her own life. Even after getting kidnapped, she still cared so deeply for the little girl. It was so touching how she felt closer to the girl, willing to care for her even more than the grandma and the rest of her family. The ML? Super warm and respectful. He didn't hesitate to support the FL once he learned the truth. The chemistry between the main couple was spot-on. Seriously, I couldn’t find a single flaw in them. But then there was the rich grandma, a total idiot, and don’t even get me started on FL’s aunt and her heartless family. The drama started so hyped up, but by the last few episodes, I just didn’t feel the same energy. Yeah, the bad guys got supposedly locked up, and FL found her grandma, but all those shocking moments were just... mentioned. Would’ve been epic to see FL’s cousin dragged by the hair and taken down while her worthless husband tries to escape. I get it, the drama’s short, but a few more moments like that would’ve made the whole thing so much better.

A lightweight drama
As I mentioned earlier, it is a lightweight drama. As already stated in the synopsis, it tells the story of a girl who is forcefully bound in marriage.Lu Ran is the girl who was forced to get married. She ran away from her wedding, but on the way, she was kidnapped. She discovered that many other children were also kidnapped. Somehow, she managed to escape along with a young girl. After ensuring the girl reached her home safely, she was shocked to learn that this was the family she was supposed to marry into.
She apologized to the family. Due to some circumstances, she had to stay there. Her husband by name (a title-only husband) helped her with her studies, and in return, she helped him take care of his family and business. And that’s how their love story began.
The drama portrays a lower-middle-class family that doesn’t wish for much in life. I liked their daughter too—she was very cute.

Finally a realistic drama about forced marriages and about women sold to marriages
This is not a drama for everyone.Despite its moments of humor it is a heavy drama with a very realistic plot about families selling their daughters (nieces) to marriage, which still happens in rural areas (even in the west)
Both leads are brilliant and carry the story and the required emotions... the Female lead does a brilliant job protraying the emotions and struggles of those who escape these fates...

A must watch cdrama, if you like light-hearted stories
Spring Burning is a heartwarming and intense journey that beautifully balances romance, hardship, and healing. At its core, it tells the story of two people-Qi Sheng Feng and Lu Ran-who fight not just for each other but also for the future they want to build together. The drama starts with pain and struggle, but it gradually blooms into a moving portrayal of trust, teamwork, and growth. The steel factory setting adds weight and realism, while their relationship brings softness and hope. Qi Sheng Feng's unwavering support and Lu Ran's strength were written so well, making the characters both relatable and memorable.❤❤❤❤What truly sets Spring Burning apart is its ability to stay grounded while still delivering those sweeping romantic, emotional highs. The final episodes-especially the rooftop proposal with fireworks and loved ones around-felt like the perfect culmination of everything they endured. The OST, soft symbolism, and depth of their journey made this one of the most fulfilling love stories in recent times. It may not be as hyped as others, but Spring Burning gently, yet powerfully, burns its way into your heart.
And in the end, they didn't just find each other-they chose each other again, with love, with family, and with forever. Married once more, but this time with all the warmth, clarity, and affection they always deserved.
Message:
Spring Burning might not have the spotlight, but it carries a rare kind of depth and warmth. If you're looking for a drama that's emotionally rich, beautifully acted, and leaves you with a full heart-this one's truly worth watching.
