review is way below, ive added my reaction to each ep first, feel free to skip since it is a mess
Ep 1 wahh this was a really good episode and I already have high hopes from this..My first impression of the lawyer was that he's very stoic and shit but then later I realized he's too soft and funny AND CLUMSY oh my god (like talking to his plants and all)
i loveee the comedic timing of the dramas.. like him enjoying the view in the mtn and then suddenly it cuts to him being unable to put up a tent goshh too funny if this goes on, I might love it.
Now I am already feeling the chemistry between them. But but but i thought it was strange at first for 2 literal strangers to act like the best of friends.. I mean the way the guy went into the lawyers tent and like slept on his lap was not okay.. so at the beginning I was like I can't really digest that the plot is so convenient like 2 strangers being buddy buddy all of a sudden...but at the end of all clicked, he is actually a con artist, so it's normal for him to act like that w him, he doesn't mean it it's just play pretend so then it was all cleared up and I'm okay with it...
Also the funny comedic timing of his towel falling off
And the best best best thing is that the lawyer is continuously in every fucking frame, serving face.. wtff he is soooooo hottt mannnn.
Oh also I love that symbolism of the green liquid (probably poison) falling into the water which appears whenever the con artist tugs at the lawyer's heartstring...I love that symbolism woahh
Ep 2 1:13 ahhh he is sooooooo cuteee
2:00 fuckkk that facceeeee ahhh
6:53--7:45 soo funny "for the planet"
"Ahh" part a bit convenient but theek hai
9:28 ahhh fuck lawyer is soooo cute his head turn ahhhhh
Ohh my goddddd tht kast sceen altho it wasn't much, it has me soo excited and like ahhh ahh like i literally had to keep it aside and go to the washroom and calm myself down fuckk... An inwas like already? Like their romance era started kready? From the preview, the next ep is gonna be fluffy
Ep 3 beginning 1 minute: what the fuck was that?? " Nante ne" whattt I fucking thought it was real but what was that?
(Side note, I'm really into the lawyer not coz of his looks (altho he is handsome) but like he is so innocent kinda and cute, I don't want the con artist to like fuck him up like don't ruin his life man...and I don't like the con artist coz I don't know his motives and im scared he wd hurt the lawyer or smthin and ruin him)
12:53 ahhh I melted at the lawyer's smile
Ohh my godd that confession was COMPLETELY unexpected just like that outta the blue and lawyers reaction to it was soooo adorable shtttt I'm actually gonna fall for him at this rate... Oh and in the midst of all this fluff they added that potential angst/danger of the other lawyer working on haruto's case..like he sees harito in court mann...but seriously I'm liking this drama I hope it turns out to be well and good
Ep 4 3 07 how is this guy so cutely Dumb and a LAWYER? like he used the oldest trick in the book "it's for my friend"😂😂😂
Okay so this ep was a bit boring with the usual jealousy thing (except the part before the ost)
So he finally accepted he's in love
ep 5 yeah this ep was just okay? it was basivallly him realising that love is a poison and obstruction for him so he tells the con to leave and he does so at once and goes back to the underworld
ep 6 yeah i straight up did not like this episode i mean first of shiba was just too fucking awkward which looked funny but that can be excused coz thats his personality. However, wtf was thst gangster fight scene? fucking cringe. And honestly neither their confession nor the kiss felt like anything.
i have been saying since ep 1 that they have gr8 chemistry but here it didnt feel good at all
now im afraid i might drop this coz stating from now, they are in a relationship already and i usually don't like the aftermath of a couple in a relationship. but lets c.
ep 7 3:13 ahh he is so funny
6:51 haii sore wa kawaii
7:23 mr lawyer, what is that pose??? hahah
***REVIEW***
I have mixed feelings for this drama.
The first 3 episodes of this drama were adorable, intriguing and very good (to say the least)
Since ep 1 this drama was very entertaining. The way it introdced Shiba and the cut off ti the confession scene with a funny voiceover was very nice (mann talk about great comedic timing which was constant throughout the entirety of this series ESPECIALLY the first 3 episoddes)
The chemistry between the two leads was also very good and strong and i couldnt help but ship them.
(side note Ryouma Shiba is hot as fuck and cute as fuck, most of my personal timestamps are just me admiring his handsome-ness)
These eps were filled with cute fluffy moments but at the same time plot development was also going on with Haru being all mysterious.
however, after episode 4 it just went downhill.
i think i found it a little to cringe especially that part where Shiba somehow figured out where Haru is, ran to that place(a must scene in j-dramas), and completely made a fool of himself (not a big deal tho)
Since the first ep, i felt that there is strong chemistry between them but that confession scene did not cut it for me and the kiss?? well simply, no, not good.
I had high expectations from the NC scenes but it did not live upto it. "Maybe it was intentionally made like that due to Shiba's awkward personality." i just brushed it off thinking this but, i (had to) brush off and let go of a lot of things thinking "its just his personality" which i did not appreciate.
Also after ep 4 they had this whole "you are my best partner" "i will always stay by your side" stuff going on. Which (now this is due to my very personal (problematic) opinion and lack of love for people haha i hate myself for it too) is something i can never believe in or feel, or even think its possible, so it jst felt a bit off to me ad i didn't quite like it coz it was "unbelievable" for me.
Then the last few episodes were about this case which was closely connected to both of the lead's past which was meh(?). i meann the court trial itself was a very good scene (individually) bt apart from that everything was just happening too quickly like the pace of the events was too fast (i did watch the last few eps in 2x speed but thats not what we are talking abot here the pace of the events itself was too fast)
But im a bit glad that they wrapped it up quickly coz any longer and i would have dropped it.
Yeah the court case scene and the very last christmas scene of the last ep was nice.
But as i said in my notes from ep 1, it did not live upto my expectations.

I Was Poisoned By This Drama
I usually stick to Thai BLs, but this one was recommended by someone on MDL and the plot summary sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a shot, and honestly, it did not disappoint.Doku Koi is such a breath of fresh air. It delivers something light and fluffy watch. I was already giggling during the first episode just from their casual interactions, their chemistry is that good. ✿ Whoever cast these two definitely knew what they were doing!
The main characters are total opposites: Ryo is this nerdy, cold, distant type, while Haruto is charming, easygoing, and has those irresistible puppy eyes. But somehow, they complement each other perfectly. And Ryo talking to his succulents🌵 (which have voices, by the way) adds such a quirky, adorable touch. Watching him come to terms with his feelings was so satisfying, and his confession, crying as he told Haruto he loves him might just be one of the best I’ve seen in BL, right up there with Bad Buddy and Thai Cherry Magic. ❤️
Okay, the kisses weren’t exactly real kisses 😂, but honestly, it didn’t even matter because their chemistry carried everything.
So yeah, what else can I say? I’m super satisfied with this series, writing this with a big smile on my face. 😁

The acting was great, so were the visulas. The music was ok.
I recommend watching this drama.

A heartwarming and cute show
I started to watch the show without any expectations, and to be honest, the storyline is a little messy. It was the right kind of silly and heartwarming, but with some plot holes.I loved the main leads, Haruto is an actual sweetheart whereas Ryo is just a silly nerdy lawyer. I enjoyed Ryo's talking to plants and inner silly monologue.
The kisses were....uhm...dead fish kisses, but if you ignore that, it's definitely pretty cute.
Overall, it's a good watch...I don't think I'll be watching it more than once though.
It's a good drama to finish in one go as every episode is of like 20 mins only.

Cute
Devo dire proprio carina.

a thrilling japanese bl
Overall this is a series with an actual good story !!I have to say I liked the first half better than the last one, but its not like having to force yourself through., also it really pays off, because the last episode is just wooow!
I sometimes felt like the acting was a bit.. stiff? I just thought the actors seemed a little uncomfortable sometimes - but still, there are way worse scenes in other series and I'd say it wasn't in a cringey or forced cute way ;)
definitely worth a watch !! ^^

cute and wholesome watch
This was sooooooo sweet and silly and adorable. Ryoma Shiba is the biggest loverboy and Haruto is extremely charming - it doesn't take long before he stops resisting his feelings and takes the leap to be in a relationship. The actual story with the court case is kind of flimsy, but as the majority of the show is devoted to Shiba and Haruto's developing relationship (honestly every other character has minimal screentime), it's very easy to look past. Definitely a fave that I plan to revisit regularly. Was this review helpful to you?
A wholesome and cute bundle of a series
Wow, this was very cute. I haven't watched a dorama in a long while now, and I glad I decided to watch this one.The leads were so cute together and they had just perfect chemistry. I especially loved Shogo Hama because of how perfect he portrayed his cold character and the subtleness of his expressions when Ryo and Haruto started to get to know each other. I honestly couldn't care less about the other plot elements (like the details in law and such) because I just had such a good time with just focusing on the couple and how their relationship blossomed. I also like their concept of opposites attract, I am a complete sucker for it, so this made me love it even more.
About the story, my gripe if course would be that the pacing is all too fast. At the same time, I understand that we can only do so much with 19 minutes an episode. The melodrama bits were a bit too sudden too, but like I mentioned above, I don't wanna be quite technical with things; I'm suspending my disbelief with the law practices and some points of the story that were a little bit too much/exaggerated. The important
thing about all of this is that I went through everything with a smile on my face, so what else can I ask for?
The rewatch value is also high for me because if the impeccable chemistry. I think I consider this one of my favorite live action BL's so far and I want more!

A Legal Thriller with a Romantic Twist!
Boys’ Love may have fallen under the business model of Yaoi, with its softcore porn over plot in many recent Thai series. But happily Japan skipped that memo, continuing to put out thought-provoking series that take the established BL genre to new places. Using pre-existing notions of what to expect from a series where two men kiss, and applying the societal views on the character’s specific circumstances.2024’s “Love is Like a Poison” from TBS premiered on September 10 and aired til December 3rd of the same year. It’s currently streaming on Netflix. The series follows Lawyer Ryoma Shiba (Hama Shogo) who is a successful lawyer coming up on his 100th win. Beside him is the mysterious Haruto (Hyodo Katsumi), a young man who seems to appear ‘coincidentally’ where he shouldn’t. The two become instant confidants (Haruto’s doing) and soon Ryoma is closing in on that 100th win. But with Haruto comes a avalanche of secrets, intrigue, and romance, that could ruin Ryoma.

Fun watch
This is the first time I’ve seen a BL story with this kind of plot, and I really enjoyed it. The characters of Shiba and Aruto are very different in terms of personality, but they complement each other perfectly. The series is quite fast-paced, but in just 12 episodes, we get a good understanding of the characters’ backgrounds and quickly grow attached to them.
I especially liked the humor, Shiba’s character development, as well as the intimate scenes between Aruto and Shiba. They were very subtle, not overly explicit, but really well done. Even the love confessions were something I truly enjoyed.
I had a really good time watching it.

A hidden gem!
The story follows Ryo a brilliant lawyer with a stone face, a harsh manner and no love life. Until Haruto bulldozes his way into his life and home. At first, Ryo is understandably skeptical of Haruto, but he gradually warms up to him, until he finds out Haruto is a con-artist. After kicking Haruto out of his house, Ryo realizes he misses Haruto and has fallen in love with him.I love the comedy relief in this show. From Ryo's awkwardness with affection to his impromptu daydreaming about Haruto, he's such a lovable character. I'll update more once the show ends.
**Update**
This show has become my comfort drama. Sometimes I let it play in the background while I do other things. It's just so good. Watching Ryo fall in love against his will was hilariously satisfying. I also appreciate how the show never took the turn of "oh you're gay now you have to hide your relationship from your boss and your colleagues".
Ryo fell head over heels in love and never looked back. He embraced Haruto, flaws and all and Haruto gained a new perspective on life and what he wanted to do with his.
This show is fantastic!
** Update again **
I come back every few months just to say it again: this is my comfort BL drama. I’ll throw it on as background noise, I’ll rewatch it when I want something light and funny. I genuinely don’t understand how it doesn’t have a higher rating.
Shiba’s facial expressions are everything. And watching Haruto fall for him in real time is perfection.
The first time I watched it, I honestly thought Haruto was lying through the entire series until that scene when he cried after Shiba “saved” him from the mob. That moment hit.
Side note: I love that Shiba can’t fight and still got beat up trying to rescue Haruto. It was such a refreshing twist on the usual “hero saves the day.”
Anyway, Haruto definitely fell for Shiba early. Once he started teasing Shiba and realized just how genuine he actually was, he didn’t stand a chance.
And Shiba… he’s a kind, loving person who pretends to be cold to protect himself. You can see how badly he wants to take care of someone. He talks to his plants, massages their petals, cleans them with cotton swabs. So of course he was drawn to Haruto. Haruto gave him exactly what he craved: companionship, love and a full belly.
