On A Mission To Watch All of Ding Yuxi's Dramas......
As someone on a mission to watch every single Ding Yuxi drama, *Fight for Love* is another gem added to my growing list. It's incredible to see how much he's grown as an actor with each new project. While I loved him in his roles like Melody of golden age and Love game in the eastern fantasy, his performance in this drama shows even more maturity, both in his emotional range and his ability to tackle complex characters. It's clear that Yuxi is not just playing a role, but truly immersing himself in his characters, making each performance feel fresh and compelling. Whether he's in a historical drama or even modern drama, there's something so magnetic about his presence on screen. This drama definitely keeps me hooked, and it’s been such a rewarding experience seeing his journey as an actor unfold. If you're on the same mission as me, you’ll find *Fight for Love* to be another milestone in his impressive career that adds even more depth to your appreciation of Ding Yuxi. He really portrays the character with such depth, balancing the playful moments with the more serious, emotional scenes beautifully. His chemistry with the lead actress is undeniable, making their on-screen romance feel genuine and heartfelt, and lots of passion.Prior to this also, part of this drama genre is Forbidden Romance and it just hit so different cause it's been such a long time since i have watched this type of drama, so I am really happy yo be able to watch this....

Confused and misplaced FL.
Totally dropped this. really don't like the FL. All she does is playing 3 men. I truly don't hope she will end up with the ML. From new female of the household all trust and follow her to fast. FL is just so annoying and she just gets on my nerve. She has no romantic relationship with the ML. She is way too old for him. I do fast forward when scenes with her comes. The ML is as always good . His acting is so good. Love all his series. I always looking forward to seeing him.
The series really doesn't work for me. Instead I watch blood river , sword and Beloved 3 and whispers of fate.

This is a wonderful, and undeservingly underrated series. It's definitely worth watching it
I absolutely loved this series. It's perfect in every way which I can say with outmost confidence having watched my large share of trainwrecks of costume C dramas. I loved everything about this series. beautiful and very, very talented cast, fantastic fight scenes, beautiful scenery and exquisite wardrobe and music. I loved the positive vibe of this show and the friendships of the characters. Ding Yu Xi besides being gorgeous, is a very, very talented actor and his facial acting/expressions are priceless. I also love Victoria Song and her character acting in this show. I think the chemistry between the ML and FL was just perfect and they really looked great together. I don't understand why some people would have a problem with the actors' age difference when in fact they were fantastically compatible in every way. Many thanks for the crew and cast for this wonderful series. Bravo! Was this review helpful to you?
Victoria Song's Wedding Proposal dance- the best scene in the drama.
Good acting from Joe Chen, but the age gap is quite obvious. If the older brother Wei played Han Mei, the age gap wouldn’t be as noticeable. The pairing between Wei Jun and Chu Yu is perfect — I can see the brother being attracted to Chu Yu.
However, I really like Ding in this series. He’s so cute and adorable in Episodes 1 and 2. The sudden transformation from being playful and cheeky to a serious young man and the head of the Wei family shows how versatile he is as an actor.
The pairing between Victoria Song and Ding is also brilliant, as their age gap isn’t as obvious.

I loved it!
I haven't written a review in ages, but I have to for this series. I loved it. It was one of the best I've watched in years, and I've watched a lot. I think it's very underrated. The title is "Fight for Love," and that's exactly what happens to all the protagonists. Everyone fights for love in their own way. Both the main characters and the supporting characters were very endearing and had their own stories. A series always captivates me if I can both laugh and cry, and this one definitely delivered. The actors played their roles exceptionally well, especially in their emotional expression. To anyone who's unsure whether to watch it, I recommend just giving it a try.Was this review helpful to you?
Watchable but won't be amazing
Casting Victoria Song will ensure pretty good martial art scenes with her strong dancer background. The issue is she won't have much chemistry with the ML.What's watchable:
-Nice production quality. Balance of colors with no OTP make up, skin smoothing. I love actors looking human and not AI.
-Decent supporting cast
-Decent story. Nothing unique
-Some good choreographed fight scenes
What's not working for me:
-Chemistry ML/FL - None.
-The sequence they executed the tragic before any character build up makes the audience unable to connect
-Overwhelming bad character scenes. Felt like they killed off all the good characters in the opening and rest of the characters are just bad.
-There are no captivating characters that just makes you want to binge through the whole thing.

As a fan of the novel I totally dislike it
As a fan of the novel I totally dislike it. It's hard not to compare it but even if I didn't read the novel I don't like how this is shot. It is a different story than the book and it's less serious. There is a lot of useless shots and dialogues. Also there is a lot of characters and they are not really well presented so it is hard to follow who is who and what is their character like.I'm not a fan of how the FL motivations are presented and I know it's because they had to come up with an alternative story to her rebirth but it's not very logical. I'm really stuck at the family allowing her to marry the coffin. MAKES NO SENSE! I wish they left the wedding before he died in the storyline and also the fact that she was betrothed to him since young. Otherwise why does the oldest son not have a wife when all the other younger brothers do and even have kids. And FL's status as a commoner. Why couldn't they leave her as a noble woman anyway?? It would be easier for the marriage plot, the princess connection etc.
I also feel nothing about our ML. He is not interesting at all. He actually annoys me and I don't have a read on what the actor is trying to portray.
I'm disappointed :( I miss all the heavy dilemmas and scheming that make the novel so fun. Dropping after 9 eps without regrets.

I'm glad I didn't give up after EP1
It started off like not much of gist in episode one but because I like Ding Yuxi, I watched on. Now i'm onto episode 4 and I like the story so far. I'm burning with rage with the bad evil character of Cao Yan. I wish I could tear off his face with that evil smug smile of it. I guess that means his acting is great but still I hated him. I hope both ML and FL will have a good ending. Was this review helpful to you?
The storyline is absurd
The FL is very annoying, she clearly lose against the ML and is actually shameless to be saying she won. The scene about her marrying the dead fir son is even more annoying than her shamelessness when there is clearly another way to enter the family and investigate what she wants. She can marry the last son and investigate as a daughter in law because it was clearly showned that the ML like her from the beginning that they meet, but instead she foolishly comes up with idea of marrying a corpse. ML have absolutely no errors at all, he is perfect and interesting at first before the family was ruined, maybe if i will continue watching it, it will be because of the ML.Was this review helpful to you?

In my top 2 fav historical drama for 2025
Omg my advice do not listen to reviews its mostly ding fans who were mad he not was upfront but i loved his wei yun green flag engery omg the way he respected and loved chu yu was everything i think they had such great chemistry their fighting scenes with spears together as one loved i. Fan of Victoria song this is the first historical drama ive seen her in he did not disappoint chu yu character is in my top fav female generals. This had such a strong female cast honestly the whole cast was everything. The only character i didnt like wss emperor of sui trying everything to keep the main leads apart he was just jealous and paranoid of two military families coming together. I disappoint i wanted two more episodes for a weddings of all the couples. I def recommend this drama all of the episodes were never boring this my top 2 fav historical dramas 2025 next to prisoner of beauty. This drama def deserves a better rating to me thats just my opinion. Was this review helpful to you?
A FL that puts on pointless showcases of her skills in the oddest of settings and whose true character can only be appreciated by the men (this is what the writers think is a strong well-written character), confrontational ML for no good reason, ex-boyfriend drama introduced in the first 15 minutes, cliché unsupportive family, no good foundation for the relationship between the FL-ML, cliché motivation for the FL, odd camera work and a boring aesthetic to the drama.
Not a single thing managed to grab my attention and make me want to continue. On the contrary, the execution of every other element is done in the style that I dislike most : Big but superficial and superfluous, with no discernable heart.
Dropped
