Toxic love story
I just finished watching it and I was going to drop it But I forced myself to watch it to the end to see if they would have a happy ever after while I am glad that they lived happily ever after there was not much growth development in their characters and he was extremely toxic throughout the whole relationship and extremely secretive. And she followed him around like a lost puppy. She should have stayed with that painter, who really cared about her and treated her well. But a lot of time, women go for toxic men. I guess Maturity is realizing that this was a toxic relationship. After he got out of jail and she met him again, she should have moved on with her life. But she got wrapped up again with him. He always gave the absolute minimum to her and even pushed her away and said so many hurtful things that were unforgivable, but she still followed him around like a lost puppy. He's an example of just giving the minimum as a partner. She was too young to know that there was so much more to being in love, but oh well, also, the story line was extremely boring if I'm being honest and I had to fast forward through a lot of parts.I gave it a five out of ten and I definitely would not be watched or recommend.Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty boring
This show was slow and pretty boring and the end was not satisfying we didnt get to see a proposal for one couple and not even a single kiss for the other couple. I would rate this 5/10 only watch if you dont have anything else to watch and are bored. The show was almost more boring than real life. Also they killed the geandma in the last 30 minutes just to add a little something that made you cry. Very unneccesary.Was this review helpful to you?
Amazing storyline!!
This show is really amazing. It had me from the first episode. The only thing I didn't like about the show so far as that she took so long to tell him the truth about why she couldn't be with him and I felt sad every time he got rejected but finally they are together and had a hapoy ending so I'm happy and this is one of the best shows I have watched this year and I really watch a lot of dramas. I love liu yuning and so I watch everything he's in. I didn't like prisoner of beauty, to be honest, but this one really makes up for it. I love a good revenge drama
It was great from start to end. I did not enjoy the bonus episode because i liked that they made him die at the end that was believable but apparently he got a stab wound to the stomach and they even twisted the knife in there and he also survived a huge fire explosion?? Okay... but other than that it was great. Besides the main male lead the emperor in disguise and his best male friend were great characters i really cared for them even though i started out hating the deposed emperor because he killed tha main leads friend. His character development was beautiful. And theres something about that actor,ive seen him in other things i like his facial expressions and his voice. And the other male friend is very handsome i loved watching him fight. I love wuxia dramas they are my favorite and even though i typically prefer romance dramas,the plot and the fight scenes and the acting held up without it (which is rare) i loved this show a lot and i might watch again in the future.Was this review helpful to you?
Started off good,downhill from there
Okay, so this drama started off really good for the first few episodes. And then it just went downhill from there. I was waiting on the romance from the 2 people who are going to fall in love. I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it but I'm on episode 10 and I still haven't gotten any romance. Also, they did this 10 year time jump and the characters look exactly the same. Not only that, but they were so close growing up together and then they just lost contact after they moved away from each other? That's pretty unbelievable. I don't think that would actually happen.They should have done only like a 4 or 5 year time jump, that would have been more believable because they still look like kids when they are supposed to be 30 years old.This show has gotten so boring. I have literally fast-forwarded the past 3 episodes because nothing major is happening. So yeah, I will force myself to keep watching, but I will not really recommend this drama.Update: finished watching and it did get better on the last 4 epiosdes. The trope with the toxic mom i just fast forwarded through every time. I cannot watch toxic people who mever change.

Barely watchable. very cringe
This show was barely watchable. There were so many times I wanted to drop it even just from the beginning, like in the first or second episode they already held hands and so many cringe things happened on the show like about her having her period and him taking care of her and allowing her to jump with her legs around him and him carry her around like that when they barely knew each other. Come on this would NEVER HAPPEN. then he was talking about marrying her when they had only dated for like a week. AndEverything just progressed so fast on this show.And she was so immature like a little baby.But yet that was attractive to him I guess and he wanted to marry her.She seemed like she was 18 years old or something and had the same pouty facial expression in every single scene. There was absolutely NO TALENT from this female lead.The casting was really weird and the show was so cringe like sometimes I had to pause the show because the cringe was so hard that it was physically uncomfortable. 5/10 storyline and acting. I only watched for xu kai and his performance was not even good.i had high expectations because of his amazing he was in arsenal military academy...oh well.

Started off amazing then got boring
This drama started off really good. Although the male lead was made to act super cringe and awkward, which I didn't like, but anyways, as it progressed, I really liked this show and his blooming love and all, but once they broke up it got super boring after that episode. there were so many work scenes, which was just so boring and I fast-forwarded so much of that, I swear there were more work scenes than them actually spending time together. There was no plot whatsoever after thry got back together, every episode was badocally about work. And I didn't like the fact that she chose not to get married in the end like lady what are you waiting for you're about to be too old to even have kids and you already know he's the one. It could have been way better but they made the second half boring. I almost dropped it around episode 20 or something,domt really remember,and tbh i should have because i would have missed NOTHING. I ended up dropping it
I see that this show has almost 8 star rating from the users. I really don't know how because it was incredibly boring and I ended up dropping it after like 9 or 10 episodes. Literally nothing was happening. I feel like they made the first episode pretty interesting and spicy so you would keep watching, but then literally nothing happened. Best historical drama of the year
This show is amazing .With most shows i have to fast forward useless plots and storylines but i never have to fast forward this show. Theres action on every episode and romance too. They had the typical misunderstanding that always happens in cdramas but they didnt draw it out like on most shows and waste several episodes. So i was happy for that! Love how strong female character is! Many dramas have them start off strong and capable then somehow always get captured and hurt later on but shes stayed consistently strong! Too heartbreaking and violent
I almkst dropped at end of epiosde 2 because of how tragic and heartbreaking it is,but kept watching and it didnt improve in that aspect. I can deal with like sword fighting and dying like that but just being brutally punched OVER AND OVER AND OVER like im sorry no i cant watch that. And to see the poor people get starved,beaten to death and treated like garbage? No. And the old man who hung himself because his family starved to death like this show is not for the kind of heart. If you are calloused and hard from watching a lot of stuff like this then go ahead but if you have a kind heart and dont like to see people getting treated like this for episode after episode then i dont suggest it.Was this review helpful to you?

Warm comfort drama
This is my comfort drama ❤️ its so warm and cozy. I didn't expect much going into it because i didn't care for the male lead. I saw him in L&P and hated that show and didnt care for his look either so i havent watched him since but this show surprised me! It's an absolute gem! When watching dramas I never care about the second or third couple but im literally invested in every couple on this show including FLs dad he's so sweet how he sings like that and does skits, it makes me smile like crazy!❤️❤️ ill deff rewatch this in the future!Was this review helpful to you?

Too sad
I had heard about this drama for years, but never watched it because I knew the ending, and it seemed really sad, but I finally gave it a shot and I kind of regret watching it. The first half was okay although even that was really sad like she had to go through so much but at least there were like happy times with all the brothers and all of that stuff, but around the halfway point it just got sadder and sadder, I didn't see the point of killing off all of those characters. And at the end, the emperor was literally left alone when he started out with so many brothers and I know most people said that the end was heartbreaking and yes, it was heartbreaking. But also, when he said, if you're not from this world, I will go find you, I took that to mean that he would eventually show up in her real life. You know, just like that one astronomer that found her in real life so in my mind, he went to find her and they had a happy ending in the present life. But the parts that were sad were just to overwhelming in the show, it really left me with a sense of hopelessness, and the world that we live in is already so hopeless i really don't wanna feel that from the dramas that I'm watching. So if you haven't watched this yet and you are already living a hard life, I would not recommend that you watch this because honestly it was very depressing. there were only a couple happy times but the majority was them struggling and people dying and everyone, sad and angry and betraying each other. I binged it in 2 days and let's just say my eyes are so swollen and sore from crying... and whatever you do don't end it at the beginning of your day, because the rest of your day is going to feel so sad and hopeless...Was this review helpful to you?
Not very memorable
I finished this a few weeks ago and cant really remember much about it because i watch a lot of dramas but if it was really good i would remember so it was just average i would say. Its storyline was too similiar to another show i was watching with the same male lead called "kill me love me" while i do like this male actor there wasnt enough to keep me interested in the show. It started off pretty good then got boring and repetitive of other dramas, I guess i give it a 6.5 outta 10 . Theres always the trope about being poisoned and having to be a shady spy gor the cure. Ridiculous plot
No chemistry between leads, the dude is poisoned and they didn't bother looking for a cure even though they know he will die from ot they keep investigating a stupid case instead of curing him first. Just too unbelievable. She believes he killed her dad with no evidence at all....then she accidentally poisons him which made no sense as he was already locked up...Then the two leads are married and hes even dying but yet they dont kiss or ever be physically intimate? YEA RIGHT they would be trying to spend as much time together as possible. The whole show is spent wasting time instead of looking for a cure. Man im on episode 17 and i think im gonna drop it. We havent even gotten a single kiss from a dying man and the love of his life and nothing makes sense...they jist keep adding a bunch of deaths and more and more layers for the supposed "case" idk if ive just watched too many dramas at this point that i cant even be bothered unless its like a 7+ star show. Its alright,nothing special
It was alright but a little slow. Im used to wuxia dramas with alot of martial arts and sword fighting and stuff so this ones a bit slow but I love Liu Yuning so ill watch the whole thing. The beggining and the ending episodes were great but the middle episodes were pretty slow. Also not to be mean but the female lead,while her acting is fine, her voice is so annoying, she talks like a baby and is so quiet even when shes mad and stuff its unrealistic,i wish she would talk in a normal voice not that baby voice. I personally would not add to me rewatch list,but hey i guess everything cant be a masterpiece. I give it a 7 out of 10 and thats a bit generous.Was this review helpful to you?
