A breath of fresh air
I just finished watching the 10th episode. I have to say that this show is honestly a breath of fresh air. I feel like most Chinese historical dramas these days always focus on the revenge plot line or just a super serious plot, and while I do like those storylines as well, it does get old. For instance, the drama that is currently airing alongside this one is called Jade wind. And that one seems to follow along the same type of plot that we have just seen over and over so I'm not really very into that show much even though I do love the actors. However, this show is very fresh and fun. I know the whole (falling into the book)has been done before, but somehow this is being done in a fresh way and I love how the leads were together from literally the first episode and we didn't have to build up to it. There's just a mutual trust between them which I think is beautiful. It's not too heavy and depressing like a lot of the Chinese dramas these days. There's humor in there. It's kept very light-hearted, most of the time, and I don't know there's just something about it that is really fresh. Not to mention the costumes are beautiful.Especially the female leads costumes.They are 10 out of 10 for me.You can tell this was a big budget drama and I am loving it. The male lead I have seen in many other dramas and always loved him. But I really think that after my journey to you, this is his next best performance. I love how he is basically playing 2 characters. The serious king and then the goofy partner of the female lead, he switches up so well and I love that. Yeah, I just really have nothing bad to say about this drama at all. Every episode has me hooked and Honestly, it's rare for me to feel happy when watching a Chinese drama because like I said, usually they are more revenge plot based, so I'm like so invested in the characters getting their revenge and killing the bad guys, etc. So I wouldn't say that I feel happy while watching those dramas while I do love them, but with this one i feel happy while watching and then waiting for the next episode. The last show that mademe feel like that was "yummy yummy yummy" that was my comfort drama while it aired lol But yeah , this drama just feels lighthearted, fun and fresh , and I can already tell this will be one of my top favorite dramas of all time. 😊Was this review helpful to you?
It was really good
I really liked this show. I love BJT so i try to support his dramas. The story line was very cool and his acting was great. The lead actress was okay too. I personally didnt like that they tried to add the humor on this show,like how he was joking with the murderer and trying to make light of the situation when he already knew the dude was a killer. I also personally would have liked to have swwn mire action and fighting scenes as thats the kind of show i thought it was going to be. Also there were just a few parts that didnt seem to add up,like how he survived that cardiac arrest at the end and how his girl made the cure so fast. But i would still rate the show a 9/10 im really glad they did only 16 episodes i think more chinese dramas should do this. When they have 30-40 episodes alot of the time they just drag the story and add too many filler parts and i jist find myself fast forwarding the extra bits.Was this review helpful to you?
One of my all time favorites
This show had me hooked from start to finish. Most dramas that are 40 episodes always have filler side plots and characters that I'm not really interested in and I end up fast-forwarding a lot of parts of the show, but I can honestly say that with this show I didn't have to fast forward anything and there were no boring plots,all the characters were interesting and the twists just kept me engaged until the very end. I only took off half a star because the love story aspect of the show did not really satisfy me, they had only one kiss in the whole show and it just wasnt giving "im so in love". I also took off half a star for the ending as well, because it just didn't seem that happy... I wish they had showed their life in the future, maybe getting married or something like that.I just felt like there wasn't enough happiness at the end of the show, they didnt even say goodbye to some of their friends which made NO SENSE. Another thing i didnt like was that he never learned ANY martial arts during those 10 years knowing he was planning a very dangerous revenge?? I enjoyed it
Usually i get hooked on a show from the first episode but the opposite happened here. The first epiosde was cheesy and i hated the fake forests,the way too bright red blood, the female lead killing like a machine all with her red cloak blowing in the breeze,the bath scene where the male lead is shirtless and super skinny but supposed to look hot 🤣 i was about to drop it but had nothing else to watch. Then by episode 3 i got hooked. The storyline was actually pretty good and i would say it progressively got better throughout the show. The male lead i had already known from hidden love and although i didnt like him in this role at first,i got used to it. I did like the female lead she was more believable as a female general than many of the other shows i have seen (like LOFG)Of course there were lame parts of the show like how the leads survive everything. The male lead got stabbed 3 times, (according to his stomach) choked,AND buried alive...yet somehow survived 🤣 but of course he got amnesia just like the female lead had gotten 🤣 why are these chinese dramas obsessed with amnesia AND falling from cliffs yet surviving 🤣 anyway i really liked how the crazy emperor fell in love with male leads sister that was a nice touch and i felt so sorry when he died but someone had to be sacrificed for the leads happy ending lol. One of my ALL TIME favorite kdramas. I feel like the writer is kind of a genius to come up with such a story. The last time i watched was probably a year ago so i need to rewatch but im just leaving this review for now and then ill update it with more details when its freshly watched and in my mind lol. Definately gove it a try and if youre not sucked in by the first episode then i dont knkw what to tell you. I always binge this because its so good!Was this review helpful to you?

Not captivating enough for me
Dont bother commenting on my review this is just my opinion which we are all entitiled to. As my title says it just is not captivating me enough. I dont feel any connection to any of the characters,nor care if anyone dies at this point. I love bailu and also like the ML from other shows ive seen him in but he takes a back seat to her in this show and his persona is just to calm and gentle. He plays a better character on the double. His character is just too boring and shes just the character weve seen over and over,the self righteous girl who always puts other before herself and would die to protect others etc. Nothing about the storyline is original. Im also watching the how dare you drama and i am really loving that one because even though that (falling into the story) trope has been done before,chang lei's character is a masterpiece and there is humor,seriousness,romance,scheming etc its kind of an all in one and its really fresh and captivating. This will just be one of those dramas i dont remember if i watched or not 2 years from now. So i just dropped it because i kinda feel like im wasting my time with it and i dont get that excited feeling when i press play,ive just been watching when the other shows im watching are all caught up and i have nothing else to watch. Loved it
I am really a sucker for time travel shows and this show was no exception. I'm glad it was only 16 episodes And they did not drag on the story line or add useless side stories. This show had humor, romance, suspense and everything else you could really want in a show. I binged it in a 24 hour period. What a joke
I have no idea why there are such rave reviews for this. This show is the most cringe,weird,low budget show i have ever seen 🤣🤣🤣 this show is a literal joke 🤣🤣🤣 it seems like a 12 year old h***y kid wrote this. The dude looks so uncomforatable and awkward the whole time,the girl is an ok actress dont get me wrong but the guy is horrible and the script is just hilarious. The crazy mom is hilarious too and the fact they added a random kid to the script so it wouldnt progress TOO fast because there was a kid around 🤣🤣 This seems like one of those 10 minute steamy mini dramas that desperate people watch when they are single. I have literally never seen such cheesy writing in a normal length show. Even the music is so freaking cheesy its worse than a mini drama. I kept pushing through for like 10 episodes waiting to see why everyone raved over it. Im laughing half the time and cringing the rest of the time. I thought i had seen some bad dramas but this one TAKES THE CAKE. I swear i am going to finish this just for the laughs at how bad it is 🤣🤣Was this review helpful to you?

REGRETTABLE WATCH
I binged this in like a twenty four hour period(fast forwarding some parts of the side stories and such of course) it was okay. I really was waiting for the happy ending cuz i saw someone in the comments say that there was one. I would not say this is a happy ending for anyone who hasnt watched and is wanting one. They do not end up together. Yea after like 12 years of not seeing each other because they cannot be together they show the ending scene of someone covering her with an umbrella and we know its gonma be him...but like okay? Can they be together now? What happens if they say "i like you" cuz they werent able to say that previously. Maybe since its present day they can and nothing happens? And why on Gods green earth didnt she just call the police since the beginning to get the bad guys in jail so the dude didnt die??!! Like that was the biggest loophole of the century. It made no sense whatsoever. Also why were there no more messages for her to delete from the phone? If she knew that was how she was going back to the past why didnt she send more messages each time she went back?! Did none of the writers think of this?? And I was waiting for a kiss thr whole friggin show and they literally did not have a single one. I think one time she dreamed that he kissed her and in the dream they pressed lips for like 2 seconds. Im sorry but all that build up for them to not even end up together?! I feel like i just wasted my time. I regret watching it. I read that the movie they made gave us a happy ending but we shouldnt habe to watch a whole other movie to get a happy ending to a series... this show was too friggin sad. Take a shot every time they hug
Started off pretty well the just got too unbelievable. So you know there are murderers trying to kill your family and gf but you dont have a team of police officers stationed in their homes and around their jobs? Or atleast the male lead who was a police officer should have stayed and worked from home on the case to protect her. But nah they just kept getting attacked and dropping like flies. Thats so unbelievable and the amount of times the leads said each others names and stared into each others eyes blankly and hugged was so annoying. If you took a shot everytime they did that you would be hospitalized. Also the male lead was ok on some parts but his blank/brainless stare was really hard to watch. Idk if dude had plastic surgery on his nose but it was so distracting. I almost dropped it but didnt. Wouldnt reccommend.Was this review helpful to you?
Pretty boring
This drama is pretty boring. Just your average 5/10 asian drama. Im surprised this is a Chinese drama its nore along the same boring storyline as most korean dramas ive watched. The only reason im still watching is to see the 2 friends end up together. I love an age gap drama they are my favorites actually. But im fast forwarding a lot because there are so many pointless scenes. This should habe been shot in 12 episodes like they do on some kdrams lol.Was this review helpful to you?

Just finished watching it was a pretty average maybe slightlybelow average drama.male lead was handsome but not great at acting. Female lead was alright. Cliche storyline. I only watched for the age gap but they made the male lead like way too perfect. So hes a pilot,speed moto racer,inheritor of a huge company,anazing cook, plus the absolute perfect boyfriend?riiigghhhtt. Not really rewatchable. Boring
I watched this because i love age gap dramas but it was super boring,dragged on and there was no chemistry between leads. They went with one seggs scene when they got drunk which looked oretty cringe i guess cuz it was his first time but the looked very unnatural in those scenes. Then after that they only pecked here and there and never shared a real intimate kiss. Im sorry but what romance drama doesnt show a real kiss scene? It was 38 episodes it should have been 16 episodes like a kdrama cuz they could habe told the whole story in those episodes. The amount of eoisodes where literally nothing of importance happened was insane. And they dont even get together until like episode 30 or so i dont remember but yea i kept waitong and waitong for the romance and it just did not come. They dodnt show the wedding either. Idk why i even finished instead of dropping but i know by like episode 10 this show was not for me. I liked both leads well enough they jist didnt work well together at all! I wish i could get those hours of my life back. Luckily i fast forwarded through the boring scenes which were FREQUENT so i didnt waste toooo much of my time lol. Accurate depiction of real life with a twist
I loved this drama and it will hold a special place in my heart. I almost didnt watch it because i dont like sad shows and it seemed like it would be sad. This show is not your typical happy go lucky show and thats what makes it special. It really showed how life picks on some people and they can never catch a break. I really related to this show and the element of the mailbox gave me goosebumps several times it just felt like i was there experiencing it with them. I loved that they didnt focus on romance but just a beautiful bond between the two leads and i have always adored the male lead but this was his best role to date in my opinion. I was SO HAPPY that it ended happily for them. I thought they wouldnt get the happy ending but in the end they did. Its more than a lot of us get. Some never get that happy ending and continue to struggle through life. I will deff rewatch this in the future ❤️ dont debate it just watch, you wont regret it!Was this review helpful to you?
Amazing but horrible ending
One of my favorite dramas. It had enough action, martial arts, and scheming to keep me engrossed, and thats pretty rare. I loved almost every character, the only thing was that the male lead was way too trusting and kind of simp the whole time 🤣🤣 but i still loved it. The one star off is for the ending. What a joke. It is one of my favorite dramas with THE WORST ENDING ive ever seen. Worse than just a cliff hanger, they give you no idea what happens in the end. If you watch this drama skip like the last 15 minutes. Because it ruined the show.Watching it again 6 months later and its just as good as the first time. Honesty this is the only show that i havent had to fast forward parts that were boring or unnecesary. I feel like every scene is necessary in this show,that may be because there are less episodes that the normal 32-40 episode cdrama. The visuals and the martial arts scenes are unmatched and the cinematography is the best ive seen in probably any drama ive watched. The cast is the most beautiful cast ive ever seen. Almost every single character is drop dead gorgeous. And the funny sister character is my favorite from any drama ive ever watched,she makes me giggle all the time but also has her serious side which will break your heart when shes hurting. If youre contemplating watching it just do it! DONT SKIP THIS SHOW ❤️❤️
