The System Is Cracked and Broken
Just finished watching the last two episodes. The ending was exactly as I thought it would be and gave closure to these professionals who were all questioning the choices of their present careers. They didn't just settle. They risked venturing out to seek the right fit, and were happier in the end. This was a very satisfying drama. I loved the characters and I think all the actors did a top-notch job in character development. It was also realistic. Professionals do question their choices in their careers, and I'm glad to see a drama that addresses this. It's not flashy, nor sexy, but very very relatable. I loved this drama, I loved the junior associate attorneys and wish I could eat with them and discuss life. After 10 episodes:
I've read some of the other reviews for this drama and I have to say, I think most are missing the real significance behind why I think this series is superb. Most of the reviews focused on it being a "slow burn" and the comeback of Lee Jong Suk. Okay, both of those are true. But if that is only take away you got from this series....you really missed the point. Yes, it's slow, but significant.
First, it's an excellent ensemble cast. The actors playing the junior lawyers are excellent in their respective roles, each delivering a depth in their specific characters that adds such a realistic nature to the delivered storylines.
Lee Jong Suk/Ju Hyeong - a smart, dedicated junior lawyer who has been at this job way passed the time of seeking his own law firm. Why? He became robotic to survive and was good at it. He stopped feeling and just performed. As the drama unfolds, and a past love reenters his life, he begins to wake up and assess why he keeps doing what he is doing when he is faced with representing a victim vs. representing a company with a toxic work environment and the decision is made for him by his senior boss. If you are old enough you can relate to that moment when you realize and want to have life's decisions in your own hands not someone else's.
Mun Ka Young/Hui Ji - Intelligent and idealistic, Hui Ji discovers that her attempt to do the right thing by all parties even if it causes her extra work goes in contradiction to her boss, whom she thought was also idealistic, that would have done what was easiest and most lucrative for the firm.
Ryu Hey Young/Mun Jeong - Smart, a bit of a workaholic, delivers 210% everyday, and is also the soul and caretaker of the group of junior lawyers. I think her storyline is so representative of the sexism and inequality women deal with when faced with balancing career and motherhood. Her boss did not even ask if she plans on coming back after having the baby....instead he just began to prepare to find another lawyer. Thankless behavior for giving so much of her time and her self to his practice. What an @$$hole, but so representative of the work world out there.
Kang You Soek/Chang Won - He just wants to be a lawyer and help people. But he keeps getting rerouted by his boss (babysitting a felon son of a rich client), and hitting the wall of a broken system that punishes a victim instead of the perpetrator. You can just feel his idealism and motivation crumbling around him. Not to mention he is being pressured to stop being a lawyer and take over the family business.
Im Sung Jae/Sang Gi - Smart, extremely hard-working, and able to focus on achieving the goal even if it takes him twice as long. He discovers his true desire is to teach law. However, Sang Gi is from humble beginnings and has to work to support himself and his mother. He cannot take time away to get a PhD in order to teach, because the system will only allow students to work at a PhD full time. How discriminatory and punishing of a system.
Secondly, it allows the viewer to watch as these characters are faced with broken systems and even facing the cracks within themselves. Even the translation team is called Cracks in the System. It's a story of young professionals in that point of their career where they hit the wall. The wall of reality. When they begin to question their work and contribution to it. When they wonder, "Is this all there is? Is this what I actually do? Is this who I actually am? Where is the fairness? Where is the humanity? Do I want to keep doing this for the rest of my career?" It also shows a juxtaposition between early and late beginning career professionals vs. seasoned career professionals who have made choices and now have to lie very coldly and greedily in the beds of their choice justifying for themselves their actions.
These junior lawyers seemingly have enviable careers and lives. From the outside they work in fairly successful law firms in a cool building, they are attractive and dressed stylishly, they have formed a tight bond and friendship and enjoy many meals and outings together. Two of them have even found love together. But up close, you begin to see the cracks forming as we are taken on the journey into the true nature of their work and how that work affects them personally.
I still have the last two episodes to go, and I'm assuming it will show how each lawyer faces the wall of reality in their career and what decisions they will make. Yes, it is a slow burn drama, but if you get past the lack of theatrics and see the significance of the storylines, you can appreciate the work these actors are putting into the development of their characters.
It is a very satisfying watch.

Honestly this has become one of my fvrt idk why....
Honestly this has become one of my favourite kdramas I really don't know because it was very comforting, helping people, one of those healing dramas, summer kdrama and a food show also😂. My review must be different from others but that's how I feel about it. Usually when i write reviews I write overview of the drama and the story but not exactly some of the main things and plots but in this drama obviously this is about law so there are many cases and helping people so i will not tell you the cases that they solved i will just tell you the main things and overview.*SPOILERS AHEAD*
So there are four lawyers who been in the same firm and kind of BFF for 7-8 yrs. One more lawyer join the firm and she is the ex of male lead. One day in the evening they four were having dinner so the female lead joined them for dinner and she remembers they met in honkong and dated each other. She came and said long time no see and he said do I know you? But he was just pretending to not know but he knew. One case after one case of one another so that's how the drama was.
The main leads starts to spend some time with each other and start to develop feelings for each other again. So they start to date each other again. As I told you earlier that there were four lawyers but then the ex(who's now his gf) joined him so the four of them became five(wowww so much maths!!) In five of them there was one woman who was married and was pregnant and don't let me talk about his husband he is a green forest if you will watch the drama you will cry to get a man like him you jus- you just g-- you just go and watch it. She wanted Maternity leave and her boss was so cold hearted he was like I am already handling 50 cases right now and to assist and arranged for a new intern in the place on you it will take me 1 - 2 weeks so I can't give you and my reaction was like broo are u serious or what like oky your reason was valid but say it in a polite way broo the way and in the reaction he said that I wanted to slap him but its fine. But in the end on his face he gave a list of interns who wanted to experience as a lawyer.
I think that's it. SO NOW LET'S RATE IT.
1. STORY: The story was really amazing I can't explain properly and can't gave a proper overview because a law drama is full of different cases and about different people. I also don't remember every single case. But in the conclusion this drama was really good and I don't about you but it also motivates me to study and I start to develop my interest in law side also. Who is also going to pursue for law side that person should totally watch it, this will help them to motivate.
2. Acting: Acting of every single actor was really brilliant and on point.
3. Music: OST was also reallyyy good i didn't notice it that much but yeah as far I saw and listen to it it was reallyy good.
4. Rewatch Value: It depends on the different person and on their mood. But according to me I can watch it more than 4 times because there are just too many cases and it is also very interesting to watch it so many times.
So from my side it is totally worth watching so you should totally watch it.

Food and the City
It seems like they eat more than work and it's full of ads. They put ads so random that makes you laugh.Law and the City is so boring I had to skip a lot. I was waiting for it to get better, but well it just didn't.
NO chemistry between the leads!!! FL is not made for lawyer roles. ML has no expressions on his face.
Even the soundtrack was bad.

Law related, heartwarming slice of life
The story itself is realistic with no plot holes, it introduces a really cozy nostalgic feeling like the show Friends, where you get used to them having lunch together in Sochodong. It's a bit surprising they found eye candy main actors, when the show is actually has real substance. My only complaint is the really light romance, which is normally my preference

Friends, good food, life problems with a romance on the side.
I honestly enjoyed the show. It showcased how it's never too late to make friends - even in adulthood. This story is about friendships, hardships and being there for each other even when your own life is a big mess. I watched it in autumn, and I'm glad I did, my heart is full thanks to this drama. The only saddening thing is that I wish we had more "main couple's" romance on the screen than it happening behind the viewer's back.

Calming
I was surprised that people gave this drama low score. For myself, the stories mostly dont really have twist on them but they feel like everyday's daily life around each characters. Soo it's really realistic. it's kinda slow paced drama with no hidden secret or climax and they really make the stories warm on each episode.
I think it's a great drama if we want a comforting drama after watching lots of dramas with twists, especially when we get busy with stuffs and wanna watch a lighthearted drama

Tepid romance but great friendships and some compelling storylines
Far from a regular rom-com, this cozzy drama is foremost a slice-of-life ensemble series featuring quite tedious legal cases. If the romance felt very underwhelming, I was impressed by how they established and further developed the frienships and professional relationships. I also liked the approach taken regarding the different cases : rather than focusing on big thrills in court, they really showed the hefty background research work and preparation done to defend their clients. I loved the huge amount of time dedicated to watching the 5 lawyers eat delicious meals and speak about very mundane things. The acting was solid overall but the romantic chemistry felt lacking between Lee Jong Suk and Mun Ka Young. They also hold less interesting roles than Kang You Seok, Ryu Hye Young and Im Sung who each had very interesting and compelling storylines in comparison to them. Their romantic relationship definitely felt more like an afterthought than anything else.
The drama esthetics was also a very strong point and compelling aspect of the series. Like the storytelling, it was quite subdue all in sepia/greyish tones showcasing the dull and tiring office life while still having a lot of mouthwatering foods shoots and enjoyable bits of OST forming a cohesive picture.
I would recommend this to people that are looking for a legal slice-of-life series. It never felt boring to me, but it is clearly a series that might not be for everyone given its anticlimactic pacing. If you want ultra dynamic trials or swoony romance, this will likely not be very satisfying and even feel pretty slow because the series takes its time. But if you enjoy relationships build up and characters growth, as well as heartfelt friendships, this could be worth a try.

Motion for dismissal on grounds of little interest present.
This was not a good roller-coaster ride for me. The first episode started off well, but led to a second episode that was a chore to watch. It then glided into Episode 3 through 5 which was a boring donut with a few sprinkles of interest. Although episode 5 ended with a crumb of curiosity, it’s a case of too little too late for me. Everything about this series (vague story concept, romantic storyline, the other multiple storylines, court cases, and characters) lacked interest. When a script is lacking, I usually can find a few characters to help keep me engaged. Unfortunately, not here. The characters were ok, but the script didn’t give me enough to keep me invested in their storylines. I like many of the actors in this and thought the entire cast did a decent job. However, they even seemed bored with the script at times.Random Note:
The few interesting parts was the mysteries firm merger and the character Kim Hyeong Min.
I actually started watching episode 6 but got so bored within the first 12 minutes that my brain checked out.
The house used in the second episode (time marker 35:58) is the same house used in the series “Cherry Blossoms After Winter” (Seo Hae Bom and Cho Tae Seong’s house).
For a change, the synopsis on Viki is more accurate than the one on MDL.

A show about humans who happen to be lawyers
I really liked the drama over all the friendships and the day-to-day life of the 5 friends. The only question I really wanted an answer to, but didn't get is who Lee Dong Su is and how he is related to Kim Hyeong Min, like there has to be a reason she was so adamant about stopping him and meddling in his affairs. Other than that, I have no complaints as this series gave me such a healing vibe and I'm sad to see it ending as I wanted to stay with this gang for a while longer. Was this review helpful to you?

Cases Won, Lives Rewritten.
I didn’t expect Law and the City to grab me the way it did. On paper, it’s just another legal drama, but once you start, you realize it’s as much about people as it is about the law. At the start of it is the clash between Ahn Ju-Hyeong, the cool-headed lawyer who plays by logic, and Kang Hee-Ji, whose heart always leads the way. It was like watching two sides of the same coin...both right, both wrong, and both painfully human. The cases aren’t filler…they dig into real issues like tenant rights, workplace ethics, and the messy moral gray zones we see in everyday life. And it’s not just the leads who shine. Bae Mun-Jeong completely stole my heart. She’s quietly battling her own issues about applying for maternity leave in a high-pressure law firm, yet she still manages to deliver some of the show’s most satisfying courtroom wins. Honestly, I cheered every time she proved you can be both vulnerable and unshakably strong.
One of my favorite touches? The mealtime scenes. Sounds simple, but those lunches and dinners gave us some of the warmest, funniest, and most honest moments between the characters. It’s where walls came down and real connections showed especially how they both silently comforted Ha Sang Gi when that misunderstanding happened to him.
And about that ending…I loved it. Every character found the courage to go after what they truly wanted, even if it meant quitting a stable job or stepping away from a familiar path. It felt like a quiet but powerful statement: comfort shouldn’t come at the cost of your own happiness. It left me with a smile and a sense of closure.
If you want a drama that’s intelligent without being cold, heartfelt without being sappy, and full of characters you’ll actually care about, Law and the City is worth the watch. It reminded me that law isn’t just about rules—it’s about the lives those rules touch.
