Friends and lawyers in the beige city
This drama gathers a really lovely cast mostly old familiar faces that I have seen in law dramas before. The drama has a slight hospital playlist meets law school vibe but without the drama and suspense of law school and without the deep friends to lovers tension of hospital playlist as the romance and plot is as beige as Kang Hui Ji (Mun Ka Young) suits.Basically taking something that could have been great but making it a bit draggy and with a complete lack of spark. The episodic nature of this was just flat and most of the stories where neither new or especially interesting, giving me the feeling of Iv seen this before done better. That said the drama does have enough moments of brilliance to push it towards the 8 star rating and those are:
1. The meals the group of friends share in this and the way those five interact and bond as a group Shows some of the sweetest moments of friendship to be seen in all of dramaland.
2. The married couples plot-line, the way they interact, the support and the playfulness of their relationship.
3. The work wife/husband dynamics between An Ju Hyeong (Lee Jong Suk) and Bae Mun Jeong (Ryu Hye Young) platonic friendship between genders that just works so well and makes you (or at leas me) wish you had one of those at work too.
4. The bromance between Cho Chang Won (Kang You Seok) and Ha Sang Gi ( Im Sung Jae) I could probably have watched a spin off with just those two.
So to sum it up this is probably more of a 7,75 than an 8 but worth a binge for the characters just don´t expect a mind blowing romance or an interesting plot and you will be fine
P.S the PPL in this was lovely with both Kopiko, Subway and a bunch of drnks... made me feel so familiar...

No flaws on acting.
After watching the ML actor on this kdrama I could see his acting skills are better than I thoughtI was against to watch it because I don't enjoy Lee Yong suk work in romances amd his smile ger into my nerves as fake and artogant but on this kdrama he did a good job even for me. Maybe because he doesn't smile and does a serious cold role but I didn't know he could do that.
I'm glad I watch it because the story is intertaining with each character and the diverse cases at work.
I can now remove Lee Yong suk from my black list.

A comforting drama about friendship, and lawyers.
I came here because I heard there's Lee Jong Suk and Moon Ka Young staring as the main leads and was intrigued. Even tho I came for the romance, I stayed because of the friendship and cases instead. This show displayed meaningful moments of friendship, love and acceptance. It also beautifully dives into the life of a lawyer and showed different perspectives of cases and ordinary people. This kdrama shows a series of cases waiting to be solved by our lawyer friend group and in the same time developing their relationship with eachother while also discovering one's self. I would have to say the whole romance backstory part of the leads wasn't necessary to make this drama a hit and it actually made me think they had no chemistry at all at the beginning of the series. However they started to grow on me after they got together and helped eachother out. It wasn't a typical exes to lovers kdrama storyline but instead was resolved quite quickly with no super hard feelings. Although I will have to say it was quite weird to budge in the Hong Kong backstory part cuz it wasn't really that neccesary and instead got abandoned after they got together, like there's no more references about it.This drama didn't make their romance a big focus, but instead made it naturally happen with no fuzzy drama like other shows do. If you only came for romance, this isn't really the show for you. But if you are willing to give it a chance, please stay longer because everything else is going to make up for it.

Excelente

beautiful elements, falls short as a whole
i fell in love with this drama from the first episode, not only for its amazing cast but its soundtrack and cinematography. unfortunately, the storyline fell short for the most part. what kept me watching at first was the romance, and i'm not usually a romance fan, but i loved the buildup of their relationship - unfortunately, as soon as they got together, i started enjoying the show a lot less. i was looking forward to their awkward early days, which they didn't show us at all as they immediately did a time skip and hardly showed us their relationship after that. yes, i understand romance was not the main focus of this show, but they failed to provide a substitute to keep the audience engaged in the second half. it was just running through court cases with very little happening in between. i loved the friend group in this drama perhaps more than i loved the hospital playlist crew (sorry, hot take), and i loved seeing them all discover and follow their dreams at the end, but it felt very forced and unrealistic that they all did it at the same time. also as someone who is fluent in korean and watches without subtitles, the line delivery was very stilted and awkward quite often. this isn't on the actors but the directors, as i've seen all of these actors shine in other works. Was this review helpful to you?
Slice of life in the lawyers'world, enjoyable but not addictive.
Good law drama starring Lee Jong Suk and Mun Ka YoungPLOT: FL, a young lawyer, joins a law firm in a building housing three other law firms. She gets to know the team of young lawyers (including ML) who are close friends and eat lunch together. The building's owner decides to merge the four firms. Each member of the team will gradually find their path through the cases they take on.
+++ Realistic, coherent, and well-executed story.
+++ Excellent casting with Lee Jong Suk and Mun Ka Young as CL, but all the actors bring endearing characters to life (except for the bespectacled partner).
+++ Good direction & pleasant OSTs.
### Series focused on cases and the friendship within the team. Very few romance or sweet scenes.
=> Slice of life in the lawyers'world, enjoyable but not addictive.

The story is amazing
Law and the City is a captivating K-drama that blends sharp storytelling with an outstanding cast. It’s smart, heartfelt, and balanced with just the right mix of tension and warmth. More than a legal drama, it’s about people, choices, and life in a bustling city. All i can say that the story is amazing and everything is just relatable for me as a person. Was this review helpful to you?

For a specific audience
If you are looking for an action-filled series with lots of drama, this is not the one for you. Neither does it feature a soul-stirring love triangle. People are so used to the importance of a passionate romance plot in almost all dramas that they forget it does not have to be and does not need to be dramatic. Love does not need to be loud, love can be comforting, safe and subtle. This idea is supported by the cinematography of the Hong Kong scenes (which I absolutely adored). The portrayal of love and the struggles in adult life in this drama brought me to tears a few times, even as someone who does not usually get emotional to this extent. Especially scenes featuring Munjeong and her husband. Who does not wish to have such a supportive and loving partner in life?
To end the romance part argument of the series, I enjoyed the subtle hints at the fact that Changwon adored Heeji. But would it have been logical if this subplot developed into a dramatic love triangle? The answer is in the genre of the series. I believe people forget what slice of life is and enjoy slow pace in such an accelerated way of life in the modern world.
For the law-related aspect, it is admirable how they portrayed the hardships someone working in this field can go through.
As a conclusion, the general audience is not ready for a mature drama like this. But if you are an adult who can enjoy things other than action, and you are also somewhat interested in the world of law, then this might suit you.
P.S.: Lee Jongsuk looked fantastic in glasses.

Whatever part of the world you're in ... Lawyers are all the same!
Harsh Harsh reviews for this series. Why I'm not too sure. Maybe some of the cases didn't end happily???Whatever the reason, I found this drama very entertaining.
I think the one negative, It was apparent to me that it lacked in chemistry between Jong Suk & Ka Young. I found Ju Hyeong and Hui Ji a much more believable couple in the flashbacks from 10 years earlier. Present time was kind of difficult to watch their relationship play out. There didn't seem to be too much enjoyment or playfulness between them. As for the rest of the cast, I always enjoy watching You Seok in whatever role he's performing, he didn't disappoint with the character of Chang Won. Funny, witty & dramatic, all rolled into one. The remaining cast blended perfectly, showing the bonds of friendship they had built together over the years. That was the strongest part of this series, showing the strength of their friendship in the cut throat world of the legal system.
Oh, and the food. Wow, do they love their food!!! It's definitely the kind of show you should watch on an empty stomach, you will get hungry in a hurry.
A thumbs up!!

A peaceful drama, for relaxing.
I just finished watching the latest episode, and came here. Firstly I want to say, this drama is not like usual K-dramas. And I can definitely get the people who don't likes it, but I love it.This drama is a unique, different from the other populer K-dramas. As someone who is her favourite series is Friends, this drama made me fall in love with it. I just love how they let us see all the characters and how their lives are going. All the people having good and bad times in the group of friends, and we can see what's going on clearly.
Ha Sang-Gi became my favourite character after this episode. And I want to add that Im Seong-jae is an amazing actor. I've watched a few more dramas of him and he was incredible in every role of him. I wasn't expecting his story to be this surprising. And I think it will be getting better by each episode.
Jo Chang-Won is definitely a gentleman, and I love him. It's very sad that he is such a good lawyer and he does such a degrading thing. I'm so mad for his boss, and hate him. I hope he can get better jobs and just not see those men who is playing with him like a doll.
Bae Moon-Jung is such a cute and realistic character. And I should say Ryu Hye-Young is have to be on-camera more often, cause I love seeing her in dramas. I can get why she was nervous about everything she's experiencing right now about being pregnant. Cause she has worry about how it's going to be, how her life is going to change and how much her relationship is ready to get into this. I can understand why she is so concerned about everything and I was okay with any decision of her, about her baby. But in the last episode, I was really happy how her husband reacted to it. I just wish their relationship gets better and better with time, because there are so many families that ruined their child's life by thinking their relationship can get better with a child.
Kang Huiji is a really deep character I think. She has so many things going on in her head and her life but doesn't tell anybody. I hope we can learn more about her story.
I will say the same things about An Juhyeong, because I think we'll learn both of their stories, by they are telling each other. As they get closer, they will be each other's family. They are the definition of "in the past, but not over." I just hope their relationship be more like a intense and passionate relationship, instead of being soft and cute. Because I think both of them are mature adults and their personality is not like cute and sweet, as how they should be because of their jobs.
The actings are pretty good. They are so successful of showing a close friendship. They are warming my heart and making me smile all the time. And making me hungry. I should say they are eating a lot. Maybe you can say how much it could be? A lot. So if you're in a diet or something, I don't recommend this drama^^ I'm kidding of course.
I want to add that how much I love the apartment manager lady, aka, legal advisor. She looked pretty cold at first, but she is actually a really cute and warm person. I think she has a relationship with Kang Huiji, because she looks at her everytime. I don't think she is her mom, but definitely they are relatives.
The music is beautiful. As someone who loves Jazz and Classical Music, this drama is perfect for me. I love how relaxing it is. I like making edits of my own and wouldn't say I'm pretty good at it, but I can say that the coloring is so good in this drama. İt can show us clearly how the life gets colder when the people are having bad times, how it can be colorful while you're young, how it can be warm when you smile.
I wanted to write all the character part by part, as how the drama showes us. I hope there are more people like me who likes this genre, because I really want to see more people watch and like this drama. Have a good day^^

Does Lee Jong-Suk Have A Special Clause in His Contract?
Honestly! I really liked the show. It kept me entertained throughout with multiple twists and turns I didn’t predict along with the eating segments to help make the friendships feel more real. One thing that I noticed once the show finished was that Lee Jong-Suk (Ahn Joo-Hyoung) treated Moon Ga-Young (Kang Hee-Ji) more like a sister/friend than as a partner. While this show is about Law, why have the main characters kiss maybe 5 times, with 2 being the same kiss just flashbacks?? I am convinced that he has it written in his contract to minimize interactions with his Female Co-Stars. Why did Im Seong-Jae (Ha Sang-Gi) end up in bed with his boss in the finale but the main couple who have been together for most of the season had better chemistry with others?? Obviously the show runners were down but the show lacked something minor and fundamental. Still good though! Was this review helpful to you?
Starring Lee Jong-suk as Ahn Ju-hyeong and Moon Ga-young as Kang Hee-ji, the drama highlights a sharp contrast between its main characters. Ju-hyeong is a veteran, pragmatic lawyer who values stability, while Hee-ji is an idealistic young attorney, passionate and determined to fight for every client as if they were the only one. Their interactions—filled with both clashes and mutual growth—form one of the strongest points of the story.
The show’s biggest strength lies in its slice-of-life approach: rather than focusing on overly complex legal cases, it emphasizes seemingly simple yet meaningful moments, such as shared lunches, spontaneous office conversations, or offering support on tough days. This everyday tone, paired with subtle humor, brings warmth and realism to the narrative.
Its slower pace may not appeal to viewers seeking dramatic twists or constant action, but for those who appreciate stories centered on personal growth, friendship, and small daily victories, it’s a breath of fresh air. The solid writing, natural performances, and strong cast chemistry make each episode feel both relatable and believable.
Ultimately, Law in the City is more than a legal drama—it’s a reminder that even in high-pressure professions, what truly matters are the human connections and the moments we share along the way.
