I loved the way this story was told, switching back and forth between the mythical past and the present. It made the series really easy to follow and understand, even for someone like me who isn’t familiar with Korean mythology. The animated short-style narration at the start of each episode was such a creative and original touch, and it really helped make the story clearer.

I also enjoyed the playful flirting and teasing between the characters, especially Geumbok and Bi Hyeong. And that ending definitely hints at a possible second season, since a few loose ends seem to have been left open on purpose.

Solid BL

The Story of Bi Hyeong: Enchanted Master of the Goblin - REVIEW

First, I began this series twice, wasn't soooo hooked feeling as an okay story, I know binged it from 3 to 12 the entire day. I wonder and ask you: does it sometimes make a difference how much you like a series based on watching it weekly or binge? Because honestly, I felt like I liked series more when I could watch it in a few days and not live week per week. Actually I really dislike this, unless some really unique STORY beside the BL happens, like now with "Goddess bless you from Death" with PavelPooh, because the ghost story keeps me remembering it a week pause more.

Strangely this series had a bit a vibe usually from Thai series, more fun or lighthearted despite the series ongoings.
I thought the two MCs and the side couple were interesting, especially Geum Bok playing the constantly "innocent maiden" in need of help. Only when he played the superstar at the end for a bit you could see he really can play more, which is an opportunity we rarely get in series. The Goblin King Bi Hyeong played the role okay, but he could have shown a bit more emotion. No crying, and the love scenes between them where a bit superficial, not sooo much like being crazy in love. I really loved Geum Bok's deep voice.

Settings, scenery and music were all well, though no really memorable places like from other series. Mixing mystic/magic into a BL - or generally anything other than "just" BL - is always a very welcome bonus to me. The end leaves a few questions open, like Geum Bok being mortal and ageing and that evil "dragon guy"; are they hoping for a Second Season? Personally I am not sure the series is THAT great that I am much longing for one. I think of "Pit Babe" which was basically a closed story and while it was really good, the 2nd season felt a bit tacked on. So I am not sure if we really need one?

It was nice, definitely memorable, I had a good time, but as you know I use the full 1-10 spectrum, I still believe it a good series when I say it was a

I know in film and gaming the rating is now different like 7 is bad anbd 6 is abysmal, but I stick to the old full 10 star idea where a 5/10 would still be halfway good and reserve 8-10 for really breathtaking series, otherwise if everything is 10 (as in many user reviews on the websites) 10 loses its meaning, so don't regard this as a harsh rating.

a weirdly enjoyable fever dream

This show was fine until the end, and then shit hit the fan. I would give it an 8 (8.3) out of 10. This show is very meh, I can't lie. Okay, I'm going to say what I liked, what I didn't, and then do an episode overview.

The plastic surgeon guy was funny af, I can't lie. Actually, the whole show was lowkey funny, and I don't know why I thought it was so funny, but it was (BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SHOW IS BS AND JUST STRAIGHT CRACK). The ghost parts were done well, because that part scared me fucking silly, lmao. I guess our couples were fine. It wasn't anything special, but also not something I can really hate on. I like the suicide part in episode 8, that was fun. I think this show was pretty interesting. I will also give them that. I just think if you are going to have romance as your main plot, you also need to write it better. Uh, yeah, that's the only positive thing I have to say about this.

The start was weird and confusing, I can't lie. Like, I understood some of it, but I think they could have set the show up better instead of dropping us here, holding our fucking balls, and being confused. Like, dude, fuck off. TURN DOWN THE FUCKING MUSIC, I SWEAR TO GOD, I COULDN'T EVEN HEAR MYSELF THINK. AND WHY DO WE HAVE FLASHBACKS OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PREVIOUS EPISODE? THE EPISODES ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH FOR US TO BE DOING THAT. The fact that everyone had some kind of weird magic powers that somehow connected, CONFUSED THE FUCK OUT OF ME HOLY FUCK. Weird love square that is all one-sided...fucking bonkers, just like this show. This show is very forgettable because my memory of this show is leaving me the more I write this review. The storyline had no direction, I fear. We needed more romance-building in this. And not like, oh, I like you because of something that happened one thousand years ago, I need in the present romance building. Our character writing and character work were god fucking awful, holy shit. This show was so fucking random, I can't. The ending was bad because we spent too long setting up the show and not enough time in the show, so it was a bad ending. Okay, that is it.

Overview time. "The description was gnarly long, so I didn't read it lmao, but I am getting this weird de ja vu from this show, and I dont know why. Also, the title is so fucking long. Realistically, he would have frozen his ass off at night. These kids are terrible. Bruh, what am I watching? He can't catch a break. WHOSE FINE ASS JUST CAME OUT OF THE BATHROOM? Lowkey a funny ass fucking show. Oh my god, what is happening?" "Yo, our kiss opened up the gates of hell. Bitch yeah fucking right." "He is literally just trying to help yo ass, shut your old ass up, freak. The plastic surgeon is like Oh, wait, that's the love of my life. Jealoussss. You'll never guess what the definition of a roommate is. He can't catch a break. Surrounded by weirdos." "So everyone was some kind of star-crossed lover, but he is the only one who can't remember it." "Everyone in this bitch is holding grudges, my lord. ONE THOUSAND-YEAR-OLD BEEF IS CRAZY. Everyone is wasted rn I fear. The plastic surgeon has really sexy eyes. OH MY GODDD. WE HAVE 5 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME, I FEAR." "Are we in a foursome? GNARLY LOVE SQUARE ACTION HAPPENING. SO GNARLY IT MIGHT BE BOBA TEA." "This show feels so random. We’re losing me right now. At least he’s slim thick." "Fucking ended, so is there gonna be a season two, or what we spent too long trying to set this show up and not enough time in the actual show. It was doing so well, all the setup on the floor, and then we had one episode left or two, and I’m like, what the fuck did we just do? Hopefully, there’s a season two actually special or something because this final episode felt very rushed and very random, and the show has been slow burn, so I feel like we could use some of those episodes for more building and less slow burn."

Towards the ending episodes, they ran this fever dream through the mud. I don't know if I would recommend it, I can't lie. Okay bye!

Sweet little no brainer

The story centres round a country lad (Geum)who moves to the big city in search of fame and fortune only to find that the accommodation his grandfather booked was a scam. After a night on the streets he goes in search of a job and ends up not only employed but involved with a weird man-child (Bi Hyeong) who takes him home with him.

As the plot unfolds we find out that Bi Hyeong is a master-less goblin who has spent the last 1000 years searching for his master and I will admit that when we get the back story and work out what really happened I did have an ‘awwww’ moment!

We are also introduced to a goblin who was once a stone (Gil Dal) a tricky promiscuous fox (Ji Gwi), a goddess (SamSin) and a bad guy (or is he? It’s never made completely clear what he’s all about).

It’s a cute little story with a very simple plot and if you’re looking for some very shallow, harmless fun to kill some time then this might be a good drama to consider.

Would I watch it again? No

How did i miss this??? OMG I REALLY ENJOYED IT!!
The cast the acting so really good!
They made me laugh, cry, giggle and they made me really excited for the next episode!!

Even the second couple where very interesting and the whole concept of the series was so interesting and new for a kbl!!
Like you don't normally see this type of stile in kbl and in made me even more curios but worried on how they would make it.

AND OMG THE MAIN COUPLE WHERE SO CUTEEE, they had good chemestry. ^^

ALSO, the way they filmed this was so well done i was shock. I could't well but admire every seen.

KBL is expanding it's horizons

I always wondered when it comes to BL novels or webtoons korea makes the best. They have unique plots, amazing art and story line but when it came to dramas they were kinda mid. Even if they did adapt a novel or webtoon they were still always lacking.. until this year

This is the 1st BL where u have a thick plot. I don't understand why people are confused. You need to watch the intro with the animation to get context on each character and their past (i am guessing they skipped that). Except for Ji Gwi's past i was able understand the rest. I didn't get why ji gwi was sad even after the goddess gave him that ornament cz she pitied him and why he and gil dal got back together.. there was no explanation.

Anyways the plot is like super fun. I really liked that there's no multiple leads fighting for the same guy instead we have 2 couples🤭 and i like that the focus is not just romance. Now it feels like an actual drama with complete plot.

I really loved the 2nd couple. Especially our macho man gil dal😆. Bro didn't realise he was in love for 1000 years😆😆😆 worse he's soo dense he didn't realize he was third wheeling in his master's relationship. Poor bihyun 0 quality time.

This is like the BL version of Japanese anime/manga kamisama kiss.

Don't go with the negative comments this is a really fun and interesting watch. I'm literally binge watching it. Yes there are some misses but its not that bad.

Mignon, mais trop léger...

The Story of Bi Hyeong repose sur une idée excellente, mais reste très léger dans le traitement de ses intrigues et de ses romances.

Tout le folklore autour des gobelins et des renards est comme une flamme timide. Elle existe, mais seulement pour la forme. L'alchimie est timide, créant ainsi peu d'étincelles. Les couples fonctionnent sans être transcendants, notamment le second qui méritait quelques scènes supplémentaires… Peut-être est-ce dû au fait que je ne voyais que Nam Taek Jun lorsqu'il entrait en scène ? C'est possible.

La fin ouverte pour les deux couples laisse place à l'imagination, même si cela reste une légère frustration. D'autant plus qu'une suite n'est pas prévue.

En bref, The Story of Bi Hyeong est un drama mignon et amusant, mais qui n'exploite aucune de ses intrigues malgré la possibilité de créer quelque chose de rafraîchissant autour de l'univers des gobelins et des renards.

Me surpreendi muito positivamente! Adorei!

AAAAAAA que surpresa boa foi encontrar esse drama! Fiquei completamente entretida com a história.
Gostei muito da introdução nos primeiros episódios, explicando cada personagem em detalhes e as ilustrações também eram bem bonitas.

A interação de todos os atores foram muito boas juntos! E aquela química de milhões, até dei aquela shippada básica no Bi Hyeong e a nossa querida raposinha Ji Gwi kkkkkk. Todos os personagens estavam na medida e a história tinha aquele toque de humor que nos faz rir do jeito que eu gosto.
Adorei a atuação do ator Hwang Jae Wook como o goblin Bi Hyeong, os olhos do personagem brilhavam quando olhava pro Geum Bok, mas adorei todos todos todos!
Confesso que quando percebi para onde a história estava levando o plot do episódio 10 se tornou bem óbvio, mas não deixou de ser emocionante. Adorei o gancho para a segunda temporada (ou spin-off), espero que realmente aconteça, porque fiquei muito curiosa com a história do personagem Cheoyong e gostaria de saber mais sobre a Sam Sin também.
