Charming with a lil bit of Magic
I'm enjoying this light & fun series. It is short and sweet and has good story building based on the length of the episodes which are fairly short. I like the slow burn nature between the leads, as it is true to the solo and alone for ever and ever then all of a sudden there is hope again. The character misunderstandings are funny - who likes whom - so there isn't any melodrama and it is purely entertaining. There could be a little more zest but that being said, I like how the director is playing with the concept of attraction! A cute show, nothing too deep and I give it a thumbs up and a giggle. Was this review helpful to you?
silly cute story
honestly the description was so ridiculous i simply had to watch it but i didn't expect to actually be so emotionally invested. it's funny and light hearted and i liked the plot. the characters were all likeable and easy to root for. the actors did a great job. it's a nice show and definitely worth a try.both couples are perfect together so i didn't have the usual screaming at my screen in frustration. no annoying melodramatics, misunderstandings are only ever humerous and get cleared up quickly without a headache. truly just a good silly time.
i think everybody was cast perfectly. it's almost like a cartoon how well their faces fit their personalities. i think they nailed the tone of the show even if some moments were overly silly or dramatic, but I've come to expect these slow-mos to romantic music over literally nothing in kdramas so it kinda added to the goofy nature of the show.

A difficult watch
It seemed like it was going to be an interesting BL at first glance, but I found myself totally lost after episode 1. Trying not to give up on it, because it seemed like a really original story, I stuck with it, which I was kind of glad I did. You need to put some time and effort into this series for things to begin to make sense. By the middle of the series there is somewhat of a turn around in the quality of the story. It really wasn't until episode 7 when I found things finally become interesting. We started to see several twists in the plot and the actors started to gel together.Nothing against the cast, each added something to the drama, but I think there couldn't have been more depth with the past lives they shared. Jae Wook & Cha Min didn't seem to have the chemistry needed to hold things together early on, but eventually found something on screen toward the end, unfortunately for me, it took a bit too long for that to happen. I found Taek Jun and his character of Gwi to be the most interesting. I kind of wish he had a larger role in the series. I think it would have added a lot more to the drama.
Overall, it was a good watch, especially the second half, I just think it had the potential to be so much more.

Had me at Episode 1 - Fun falling for you romp
Love the creative ancient tale outline before each episode to start off. Unique artwork to tell the tale. The ensemble is well matched in looks, every face of each actor is full of interesting and engaging expressions. Not over the top. They acting has drawn me in and kept me anticipating the next episode. My only problem is I don't like waiting for episodes weekly. Can't wait to see how it wraps. Was this review helpful to you?

Watch it for Gil Dal
The first episode was so much fun to watch which made me binge watch the whole thing in one setting, the first couple of episodes were the best IMO, they were funny and lovely, the cast was fine and the story has potential.I don't know what went wrong through the script but I had a few moments of scratching my head while watching wondering why did they go this way with the story.
What I liked about the drama
1- Gil Dal
This adorkable hulk is such a cutie, I paused a few times squealing in my seat because of how adorable and innocent he is, he is super adorable, and the actor did great in his role, I loved his chemistry with JiGwe too, I somehow wished they had an intimate scene or two, which is something I don't often look for when watching BL, I seriously wanted to see their love.
2- second couple story
I mentioned the second couple chemistry, but their story is also more interesting than the first, the bad flirty fox and the innocent huge muscular goblin are much more interesting couple than a simple human X goblin one that doesn't have anything going on tbh~
3- the cast chemistry together was good, even great, I loved that all character has a scene or two with eachother we had too many ghost ships too lol
SamShin character too was adorable, the actress looks so young and she didn't really show that halmoni inner heart but nonetheless the whole cast were very childish in a refreshing way.
4- this may sound weird but the intros
The animated intros were amazing, I wish they had them for all episodes to give us a better understanding for the story and tbh once they skipped them the story started to feel very confusing, for example, till the end we don't even know how exactly the gumiho betrayed the bihyung and nothing explained that.
What I didn't like
1-the main leads story
It started off well, then I don't know what happened, according to the contract they should have physical interaction every now and then and the whole ghost thing was so overlooked, and the two leads didn't even have a proper interaction till ep8 maybe when they started to have something actually going on.
2- the ML
I have seen this country bumpkin character in a billion BL before and they literally all the same, innocent and inexperienced and all that, but the actor didn't really convince me tbh, he needs a few acting lessons maybe, not saying he is bad actor, he is fine but I don't know, some scenes were just off.
3- many unanswered question
I liked the twist in ep9 which was really smart idea tbh, the writer deserves a slow clapping moment because it tied a few ends HOWEVER, it wasn't executed well, it opened a door to some questions, like how did he become his master exactly??? And why? And how by travelling back, he was able to make him wake up in the present!!
I didn't even mention the animosity between the bihyung and the mysterious guy and JiGwe, what happened? Who exactly are they? Also the second lead ending, how?? Are they together, what happened after their huge fight?? How did they get back together??? Too many loose ends.
4- the ending in general
As I said the second couple story was under developed despite being more interesting than the main lead's, but also the main story end was weird, so he left and then came back... Why? 😂 Guys why so mysterious? The last ep is a bunch of scenes that are totally unrelated to the whole 11 episodes before it. Making everything confusing unnecessarily.
In general, it was cute and I believe Gil Dal worth every second I spend watching this, he was a breath of fresh air, and I'd rewatch this drama for him~
I would definitely recommend it, but a piece of advice, try to turn a blind eye to the story because it lacks a lot, and the ending is happy but in a very forced way so just take it with a grain of salt, and lower your expectations ~~

:The Story Of Flatness
This is such a cute, entertaining series which is hard to dislike. While it is pleasant, it ought to be more than that. Forlornly, it just is not. My issue and problem with these series is that nothing new is introduced. The characters are endlessly boring and stereotypical. Just once, I just wish something fresh, creative, or original would happen with these stories. While the mythos did make an attempt to change it up a bit by creating a conflict between ‘goblins’ and ‘foxes’, I honestly did not know what the conflict was in the first place and why it needed to continue to the present day. So, the tension-factor was missing. Perhaps it was just me, but I got lost in the story. I know nothing about goblin/fox folklore and so my references to any connecting points between them were nil. I am just not familiar with the myths. Overall, this is simply another ‘canned’ BL no different than the last standard trite one I saw. Now, if I can just remember the name of that one.Was this review helpful to you?
Cute and Simple
This series was honestly pretty enjoyable in its own way. It’s plain, simple, and cute—and I think that’s exactly what it was going for. The story was straightforward and easy to follow, which made it light viewing. Sure, it could have been a bit more engaging but at the end of the day, it leaned into its “cute factor,” and that’s what gave it charm. What really made it pleasant to watch were the actors, special mention actor Hwang Jae Wook. They were gorgeous, and they fit the roles of mythical creatures well. I didn’t go into this with high expectations, and maybe that’s why I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. It’s fun, easy to watch, and has a certain charm that makes it worth checking out if you’re in the mood for something light. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars—cute, pleasant, and just enough to keep me entertained. Was this review helpful to you?

Solid BL
The Story of Bi Hyeong: Enchanted Master of the Goblin - REVIEWFirst, I began this series twice, wasn't soooo hooked feeling as an okay story, I know binged it from 3 to 12 the entire day. I wonder and ask you: does it sometimes make a difference how much you like a series based on watching it weekly or binge? Because honestly, I felt like I liked series more when I could watch it in a few days and not live week per week. Actually I really dislike this, unless some really unique STORY beside the BL happens, like now with "Goddess bless you from Death" with PavelPooh, because the ghost story keeps me remembering it a week pause more.
Strangely this series had a bit a vibe usually from Thai series, more fun or lighthearted despite the series ongoings.
I thought the two MCs and the side couple were interesting, especially Geum Bok playing the constantly "innocent maiden" in need of help. Only when he played the superstar at the end for a bit you could see he really can play more, which is an opportunity we rarely get in series. The Goblin King Bi Hyeong played the role okay, but he could have shown a bit more emotion. No crying, and the love scenes between them where a bit superficial, not sooo much like being crazy in love. I really loved Geum Bok's deep voice.
Settings, scenery and music were all well, though no really memorable places like from other series. Mixing mystic/magic into a BL - or generally anything other than "just" BL - is always a very welcome bonus to me. The end leaves a few questions open, like Geum Bok being mortal and ageing and that evil "dragon guy"; are they hoping for a Second Season? Personally I am not sure the series is THAT great that I am much longing for one. I think of "Pit Babe" which was basically a closed story and while it was really good, the 2nd season felt a bit tacked on. So I am not sure if we really need one?
It was nice, definitely memorable, I had a good time, but as you know I use the full 1-10 spectrum, I still believe it a good series when I say it was a
7/10
I know in film and gaming the rating is now different like 7 is bad anbd 6 is abysmal, but I stick to the old full 10 star idea where a 5/10 would still be halfway good and reserve 8-10 for really breathtaking series, otherwise if everything is 10 (as in many user reviews on the websites) 10 loses its meaning, so don't regard this as a harsh rating.
