What a disappointment
I heard that the novel this is based on wasn't a BL. I can wholly believe that, because this wasn't really either. It was a very repetitive story with poorly supported and chemistry-free BL stapled to it clumsily. The plot: Circular. Kidnap, rescue, kidnap, rescue, kidnap, rescue, rinse, repeat ad nauseum. Cartoonish villains keeps bludgeoning or kidnapping Jom or Yo because some guy wants to win an auction for a government contract against some unrelated woman. So why go after the two main characters? Why not go after the other bidder woman? It made no sense and was so dull. The breakup was ridiculous in motivation and even more ridiculous in execution. Why would anyone do all that preparation work just to unceremoniously dump someone. And can you guess what got them back together? (Hint: it was a kidnapping.)
Also, the US isn't on Mars - are you telling me they didn't visit each other for FIVE YEARS?
The romance was friends to lovers. In the comments section a lot of people claimed to like the "slow burn". More like "no burn". The chemistry between the two leads didn't exist. It wasn't weak, it was totally absent. It's a shame, because the actors weren't shy about love scenes. But let me ask you this: if you've been apart from your partner for 5 years, do you a) start by kissing them on the knee or b) rip of their clothes and ravage them? I'm sure you can guess which one they went with. They didn't need to make it all about sexual deprivation, but it needed a little heat - instead we got an 11-year old's idea of what adult love is.
Positives: I liked the absense of a seme-uke dynamic - that's almost certainly an artifact of the origin of the story as non-BL, where both characters are just men. Bonus points for the younger guy being the top. Poom's body is so perfect - the contrast between his cute boyish face and his athletic figure is very hot. The three brats are good, and the straight romance was much, much better than the BL - I hope they hire the other Poom for a BL because he was excellent.
I stuck with this for the two Pooms, but ended up feeling it was a total waste of my time.

Heartbroken by Jom and Yo: The Show That Couldn’t Keep My Heart Beating
When I first saw the trailer, I thought the show would be a sweet, nature-filled story set in the countryside. However, it turned out to be something quite different from what I expected. The plot revolves around a young man, Yo, who is about to turn 20 and finds himself caught in a messy situation involving his secret girlfriend and her boyfriend. After a fight with the boyfriend, Yo’s parents send him to live in the countryside. They arrange for Yo to stay with Jom, the village chief, who becomes his guardian and is tasked with protecting him from his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend while Yo completes his high school education. Yo had never finished high school because he got into a fight with a teacher while trying to protect his friends. In the village, Jom is responsible for taking care of the community and fulfilling his duties as the village chief. He also looks after three other students. While taking care of the well-being of the entire village, Jom ensures Yo is kept safe from any threats, especially if Yo's ex-girlfriend's boyfriend ever tracks him down.Jom also has unresolved issues with his family, and Yo ends up helping him work through some of those struggles. However, the plot starts to lose its direction after the seventh episode. The ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend finally tracks down Yo and shows up in the village, eager to make sure Yo knows who’s the boss. In a dramatic K-drama moment, Jom swoops in just in time to save Yo. That moment feels like the climax, and it’s all built up to this showdown. But after that, the story fizzles out. With the main conflict resolved, there’s no clear direction for the plot to go. The tension disappears, and the show loses momentum. It’s like the entire point of the series was to get to this moment, but once it happened, the narrative kind of drifts off.
There are also way too many unnecessary characters and subplots. The school subplot, for example, was pretty annoying. The whole thing with the "school belle" and Yo getting into a fight with a bully because the belle likes Yo instead of the bully just felt pointless. By the end, they all resolve their issues and become friends, with Yo even helping the bully pursue the belle. It didn’t add anything meaningful to the main story. Another subplot involves Yo helping one of the three students living with him to stop dealing drugs. Jom finds out about it and mistakenly thinks that Yo is involved with drugs. While this misunderstanding gets cleared up, it still feels like an unnecessary and silly side story that doesn’t really contribute to the plot. The village politics were okay at first, but they eventually became too much. It became so annoying and boring.
I didn’t finish this series, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s really boring. Jom and Yo have no chemistry, in my opinion. While they both seem to like each other, it feels like a drag, and every episode feels like filler. Every time you think they’re going to get together, confess, or even kiss, it just doesn’t happen.

Good story with flaws
I just finished watching the series. The story grew on me I have to admit, I loved the slow burn romance, that YoJom had time to get to know each other and through lots of fights and misunderstandings they started to understand and love each other and they built up their relationship brick by brick. It’s a very refreshing approach.
I loved the warm family feeling, the community, the Granny!, the comedy parts, also the cinematography is stunning!
I loved that this story has no unnecessary NC just for the sake of NC to attracting fans but the NC had the perfect timing and function at the peak of their relationship after 5 years of waiting. It was also beautiful choreographed and executed NC scene as expected from Saint, gentle and tender I liked it really.
What I didn’t like it’s the chemistry between Saint and Poom, I tried to see it but I still can’t, they have the most brotherly chemistry I’ve seen amongst BL couples and that took off from the value of the NC and overall of the romance of YoJom. No tension here, no fire, no yearning just 2 brothers trying hard to play lovers.
It’s like Jom as the guardian of Yothin has concerns to get into a relationship with Yo who’s much younger than him, I feel like deep down Saint as the CEO of IDF and the boss of Poom has the same concerns about playing lovers with his actor in MSJ, who’s even much younger than him and that put a wall between them they’re not like any other BL couples who consist of 2 equal partners.
About acting, Poom’s acting was ok but there were parts where he was weak, he couldn’t convey much emotions especially in dramatic scenes, he was quite good at the comedy parts though and I liked his scenes with AI boys they’re very natural maybe because of their closer age.
That was definitely not the big shining comeback of Saint to BL even if I loved his portrayal of Jom he did a fairly great job and I really loved the story.
I hope if Saint decides to make another BL he’ll choose a partner whom with he has much stronger chemistry, preferably someone outside of IDF and who’s more mature and having similar level of acting skills than him.
Overall I say you should give it a go if you are craving for a new approach of BL, something warm, light, easy to digest and charming.

The show just dragged on so slowly
My Sweetheart Jom had potential, but it lost me in the mix of too many subplots. I admire Saint’s versatility and his courage to produce, but the romance here lacked the kilig—that fluttery, can’t-stop-smiling chemistry that makes you hit “next episode” without thinking. The show never seemed sure what it wanted to be—coming-of-age, rom-com, action, dramedy? In the confusion, the love story got buried under side plots and even a random kidnapping.
I wanted to root for Poom and Saint, but the spark just wasn’t there. Here’s hoping they get another project together with a tighter focus—and a lot more heart

A Sweet Romance With Endearing Characters!
I went into My Sweetheart Jom expecting a light, slightly chaotic romantic comedy with a countryside twist. What I found instead was a slow burn gem with a gentle heartbeat, one that’s surprisingly grounded, deeply charming, and quietly thoughtful in how it builds character and community. The setup is familiar on paper: city boy Yothin (Yo) ends up in rural Bang Pho after getting mixed up in city drama, where he’s placed under the supervision of Jomkhwan (Jom), the respected and quietly magnetic village head. But what unfolds across the first five episodes is far more nuanced than I expected.
Let’s talk about Yo. With a plot like this, I braced myself for a “spoiled brat turns soft” arc but that’s not what we get at all. Poom Nuttapart plays Yo with balance and surprising warmth. Even when Yo is clearly out of his element, he’s never truly unbearable. He’s observant. Curious. He pushes boundaries, yes, but more out of youthful energy than arrogance. And perhaps most importantly, there’s a maturity in Yo that makes his connection with Jom feel earned and real, not forced.

This Could Have Been So Much Better
I am ready to receive to hate for this review so I will say first not all BL Fans are the same.First I love the he'll out of Saint since LBC so when I heard he was making a return to BL I was more than ready. Not verse on Poom but I liked him.
The problem lies with chemistry. It was just not 100 but it was decent. This was a slow burn decent BL but one of my main reasons for watching aside from Saint was Heng. Heng is so underrated in my opinion. I always wanted him to lead a BL for Idol Factory but Idol Factory seems bent on BILLYBABE (which I personally am not a fan of I much prefer BILLYSENG but I know that ship has sailed. I'm not some delulu fan Im way over it)
Heng was listed as a support character but what he was a guest star. Maybe I fell asleep but he appeared in the penultimate and the Finale and that is not support it's a guest role. I mean HENGSAINT would be fantastic to me.
Overall this was a decent show. Mid range. Not great a series and not awful. I wish I had more Heng.
Feel free to disagree but we are not all the same and we won't all agree.
That is all.

It is a romantic comedy with a unique BL series theme. The story takes place in the countryside. The drama has many Thai cultural characteristics and many veteran actors have joined in. Watching this BL can relax your mind and body.

1000 Lotus Leaves
Saint, also taking on a Producing role, plays ML Jom, the Village Chief. This man is very talented, he’s Produced, Executive Produced and acted in many BLs and series and really anchors this one.Poom plays Yo, the witless but brave and pretty well played antagonist.
Phutharit Prombandal currently also starring in The Next Prince plays Kla the Village headman in this and I have to say I LOVE his work both in this and TNP, he’s the man fo sure.
Jowkwan, Oat, Towi play the Chief’s “Assistants” ie his little brothers and are h i l a r i o u s! Can’t wait to see what these 3 get up to.
Likes: Saint - I mean what a HUNK of a Cheif, where do I sign up as his Headmistress 🙏🏾😂. The story is sweeter than Kayasart so I’m hoping for great chemistry in this one. His acting is something for all rookies to watch and learn from, he’s a bit of a powerhouse for me.
The Village - love this so much. My favourite scene comes from the first time we meet some of the villagers making Kayasart, a Thai sweet made of rice, nut, sesame-seeds and sugar. The scene is really gorgeous. The last scene tho is a stealing killer I tell you, hunk Jom taking a nap in a boat amongst ‘1000 Lotus Leaves’, that’s me wanting to rename this lol.
Not so much: The kind of sped up, over-the-top Thai comedy acting that sometimes doesn’t go down well with international viewers, which is very prevalent in earlier Thai BLs (sorry Thais 😢). The villian especially in cringe-worthy. I’m hoping this kind of over-acting fades away as the series progresses as the premise, vibe and story is really good, please please pretttty please 🙏🏾 lol. I think a bit of a swap could’ve happened, if this recieved some of the slow burn calm of current BL Lost in the Woods and this could give that a bit of spiciness it would be a match made in gay heaven 🤣.
Funny/weird moment: the intro/outro soundtrack keeps reminding me of Ossan’s Love Thailand OST Suckling with Earth, Mix and Jennie, love it.

10/10 My Sweetheart Jom Truly A Masterpiece! Worth Every Second Of Watching!
It's a beautiful love story of Yo and Jom. A story where two people gradually get to know each other, get used to living around one another, and start helping and trusting each other little by little. As they continue to discover more about each other, Yo and Jom realize they're falling in love. This is a series where everything is very logical and consistent. Yes, it's not the type of series filled with tons of kisses and sex scenes, but that's exactly what makes it so good. It's a show about feelings, love, family, and school. What I absolutely adore about this series is that the main characters, with their superb acting, managed to convey emotions and feelings to us-whether it's love, sadness, joy, sorrow, or any other emotion. For me, this series is magnificent! Was this review helpful to you?
