ZLH and WCR ??

Really love the show!! 💗💗
Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan really the best actor in 2026!! Even so many criticism and haters, I still love the drama!! Because every drama has plus and minus.
So many complaint about chemistry, hellowwwww this is about love, hate, and revenge in the era of republic so the ML/FL can not delivered emotion like lovely dovey like modern drama! Please don't compare ML with previous drama couple. ZLH and WCR are a compatible drama couple 2026!! OMG loves their visual 😍😍😍

Overdo - a missed opportunity..

I’d been looking forward to the drama “Overdo” for so long, and I have to admit I was wrong. I understand they wanted to “break away” from ZLH’s usual roles, but did you find the character believable? Didn’t you find him over-the-top? Did he really seem like a man who lived during the Republican era? Was he convincing in playing a character with a split personality? For me—(as a fan of his, and someone who actually likes him)—honestly, no. I found it all over-the-top, repetitive, and predictable... The first part of the drama really disappointed me, from the editing to that “I don’t know what I’m going to become” vibe… (but maybe that was because of my high expectations) I saw so much—way too much—toxicity, and it was one of the few times I didn’t root for the couple… I’m so frustrated that I don’t even want to keep talking about this drama—the only things I’ll give credit to are the costumes, the jewelry, the always-brilliant Whang Churan, and… and I guess that’s it. This was ZLH’s worst drama. I just want to forget what I saw, especially episode 33, which was HORRIBLE… IMHO.

Love this drama, I like the cast. They portrayed their roles well. Zhang Linghe’s presence and visuals are perfect and the chemistry between Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan is awesome. So far I’m enjoying it. I will definitely watch this drama again and recommend to friends. I wish the viewers are more appreciative of the high production value, costumes, and cinematography.

Sad

I am not part of the audience that tuned into Overdo solely for the main leads. Regrettably, the primary couple's storyline suffers from unnecessary padding and sluggish pacing. My interest naturally shifted toward the Yu and Ye pairing, but they were severely underutilized. Not only was their screen time minimal, but Yu was also written out of the show midway. The episode that abruptly concluded his character arc and derailed the secondary couple's development ultimately exhausted my patience with the series.

Did they choose the wrong FL?

The drama should come with a health warning. It is draining on mental health and creates a negative & depressing emotions. In the age where political conflicts are happening all over the world, we do not need more angst & anxiety in our entertainment. I have nothing against the FL but like all her other dramas, FL can't act. She is stone faced and wooden in every expression except the crying and smirking. She spoils the show; just like she spoiled the "Fireworks of my Heart" with her bland & boring acting. The storyline is not bad if they had a better FL. Absolutely no chemistry between the two leads. Also, is it necessary to have so much makeup on! The eyeliners are so visible, especially in the ML, that they stood out more than the drama & the FL! Overdo? They should amend the title to Overdone (by eyeliners)!

Tinha potencial para ser incrível, mas também não foi ruim

Honestamente, acho algumas críticas muito válidas e outras bastante injustas.

Começando pelas críticas válidas:

1. A direção

A Drama I Genuinely Enjoyed Despite the Mixed Reviews

I genuinely liked Overdo. I enjoyed the plot, the atmosphere, and especially the acting. Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan were both great as the main leads, and their performances made the story much more engaging for me.

Zhang Linghe was soooo good in this role. I feel like he really got the chance to show what he can do as an actor here. His expressions, emotions, and the way he carried his character were so convincing. Definitely one of my favorite performances from him.

I know this drama didn’t work for everyone and I’ve seen quite a few mixed opinions about it, but I think if you watch it with an open mind and don’t go into it expecting a perfect or conventional story, it’s actually very enjoyable. It has its flaws, of course, but they didn’t stop me from getting invested in the characters and wanting to keep watching.

Overall, I had a genuinely good time with Overdo, and Zhang Linghe alone made it worth watching for me. ❤️

Overdo of overdo

People who watched it, keep saying, keep watching don’t drop it, by this episode you will start getting hooked. I think if a drama doesn’t get your attention in the first half hour, don’t bother with it. You will only keep getting distracted and not paying attention to the story unfolding before you.
I found the whole relentless beating of one man’s psyche was too much to handle. The writer didn’t after all of that intense emotional and physical abuse of their protagonist character, didn’t even have the guts to give it a proper burial! Instead they cowered behind “ what if” mode.
The only grace this drama has earned?! Leading actors and the supporting cast. Stellar performance from all. I suggest to the production team, avoid making dramas from books written by this author. It’s a waster of time to follow the script of the book up to certain point and then start doing “ this is our version “ story.

Not 'Overdo', but 'Overdone'

Living up to its name, Overdo truly overdoes every aspect of its writing. The characters suffer from a complete lack of development from start to finish. Ren Susu is stuck in a frustrating loop, making the exact same mistakes and poor decisions over and over again. The writer's pattern is ridiculously predictable: every choice she makes is merely a plot device to make Murong Qingyi suffer even more.
Meanwhile, Murong Qingyi keeps pathetically begging for her love despite being repeatedly betrayed. In the end, the sheer amount of forced angst makes the entire story incredibly overwhelming and tiring to sit through. The poor writing extends beyond the main leads. Li Boze’s sudden personality shift feels incredibly forced. He was established from the start as a logical character with a strong moral compass, only to abruptly turn into a ruthless traitor simply because Qingyi investigates his father's case. To make matters worse, a character like Ye Zhi Hong is suddenly killed off for no good reason. Her death felt completely unnecessary, and she absolutely deserved a good ending.

Overdo Really Lived Up to Its Name

Honestly, I don’t even know what happened here. I mean… we waited all this time for this? (´∵`) I was genuinely dying to watch this drama and had such high expectations, only for it to end up being so disappointing that not even the actors could save it. With Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran leading the cast, I was expecting this to be one of the best C-dramas of the year, so yeah… this one hurt. (;;)

One thing that genuinely shocked me was the use of AI in the drama. I really didn’t expect productions like this to start using it so blatantly already. And on top of that, a story that initially seemed like it had so much potential ended up relying on ridiculously exaggerated scenes and plot developments that made the whole thing feel like a short-form drama. You know those dramas where absolutely everything is happening at once, nothing makes much sense, and the only thing keeping the story alive is constant drama? Yeah. That was basically this.

On paper, the plot sounds like everything I would love: second chances, mistaken identities, tragic circumstances, forbidden feelings, and an epic love story. Unfortunately, the execution just wasn’t there. The drama constantly confuses melodrama with actual emotional depth, and instead of making me feel devastated, most of the time I was just sitting there like… what the hell is happening? ( °-° )

And the romance… where do I even start? Their relationship is TOXIC. It’s basically one giant emotional tug-of-war. One minute they love each other, the next they hate each other, then they’re misunderstanding each other again, then they’re separated, then they’re back together… and the cycle just keeps repeating. It became incredibly frustrating to watch.

What makes it even more disappointing is that this drama had EVERYTHING it needed to give us an absolutely epic romance and an unforgettable story. The premise was there, the cast was there, the story had the potential, and yet the writers and producers somehow managed to waste almost all of it.

Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran made the most out of what they were given and delivered genuinely convincing performances despite the increasingly ridiculous material. Unfortunately, even great acting can only do so much when the directing and writing keep throwing increasingly absurd plot twists at you.

Qing Yi and Su Su are constantly caught between what they want and the responsibilities forced upon them, which could have made their relationship incredibly compelling. Instead, their romance turns into an endless cycle of misunderstandings. By the end, I was kinda emotionally exhausted.

That being said, not everything was a complete failure. There were definitely some scenes I genuinely enjoyed (Okay, possible spoiler ahead), especially the moments between the ML and his son. I also really liked the scenes where the leads actually got to be together without trying to destroy each other, because you could finally see the love between them without all the unnecessary drama getting in the way. Those moments reminded me of what this drama could have been. (´・_・`) And that ending… OMG. After everything we went through, THAT is what you decided to give us? Brutal...

Overall, I really wanted to love this drama, but unfortunately, it ended up being one of those cases where the potential was much better than the actual execution. The messy writing, excessive melodrama, and increasingly confusing plot made this a huge disappointment for me. I still think there was an incredible story buried somewhere in here… I just wish the drama had actually managed to find it. (;;)

High budget but low Quality...

I was so excited for this drama, the teasers of ZLH and WC in those outfits were gorgeous, But when I actually got to watch it, I liked it for about 3 ep, and everything is meh after that. From the starting 3 episodes I thought I'd get a serius cold FL paired with a ruthless ML, but all we get is a puppy ML and a weak FL, I mean, why does he have to call her Su Su affectionately again and again, after all of that traumatic backstory and untrustworthy personality, he's still wagging his tail for FL when she betrayed his trust? And the FL, though it felt like she was ruthless with all those bloody wedding dress, and ruined clothing making others distrust ML, but then she gets back to feeling sorry, guilty for him WTH, what is this inconsistency? And when they were in the secret basement, ML should have hurt her with the knife, it would feel way good like in "Fated Hearts" it would show his ruthless side, and when they were escaping, ML could have just suddenly closed the door on her without saying anything, that scene would hit so hard, like it would show that he still cares for her even though he hates her/ angry with her but still would save her, but they went through cringey dialogues for 2 min which makes the situation so weird like they are running for life!!! and ML feels like a puppy starving for affection and the FL annoying with her sudden guilty tears..... Ughhhhhhhhh why why why..... There are many more things that I really hate and am to frustrated about.... Think about it, if they Did it right, they could have made it into a great slow-burn romance like this ----> ML, despite being wronged, understanding why she did that and still helping the FL achieve her goals(though not in a puppy way wagging it's tail way), and the cold FL who only considered revenge and thought ML is some privileged young master, now melting slowly through ML's sincerity in helping her( also noticing what he went through and what he experienced)

A drama that promises a lot, never delivers — and that's exactly why people watch it.

Overdo will probably be watched by a lot of people, and it will almost certainly become a hit. But I have a feeling it's the kind of drama you'll watch only once.

It creates a very strange feeling: constant, relentless frustration. And that's exactly why you keep watching.

The plot moves at breakneck speed. Events unfold one after another without pause, the intrigue never lets up, and every episode is packed with action. But that's not the real issue.

The real problem is that the drama rarely gives the audience a chance to emotionally complete an important scene. You understand what has happened, but you don't have time to feel it. Just as the characters reach the point where an emotion should fully unfold, the editing cuts away and moves on.

The result is a strange effect. The story becomes a kaleidoscope in which each new scene immediately replaces the last. Some dramatic moments even begin to feel unintentionally comedic—not only because they aren't given enough time to become genuine drama, but also because of the sheer absurdity of the plot.

This is why Overdo feels so persistently frustrating. Instead of delivering emotional payoff, it keeps promising that payoff in the next scene. You keep thinking the drama is finally going to slow down, let the characters finish what they started, and allow the audience to experience the moment with them. Instead, another scene begins, another twist appears, and another wave of tension takes its place.

Perhaps that's exactly where the drama's appeal lies. Many people won't keep watching because they're emotionally satisfied, but because they're still waiting for the emotional release the drama keeps postponing.

Lin He and Wang Chu Ran will undoubtedly receive the recognition they deserve. Their performances hold your attention even when the direction doesn't allow the scenes themselves to fully breathe.

So yes, Overdo will almost certainly be a hit. People will talk about it, recommend it, and finish it. But I'm not convinced that, a week after the finale, many will remember the story itself. What may stay with them instead is the feeling of endlessly chasing an emotional payoff that never quite arrives.
