This is one of those shows where logic doesn't exist but feelings do. really explored that topic of eternal love. INSANE cus locals would think we're crazy for watching the same show and same couple but had 4 lifetimes together, 3 of which one dies and gets separated and a hurdle like ml/fl lost their memory, its a bit much for some but then again you can't extend a story if theres no plot. And its maybe not everyones cup of tea cus it ends on one scene of them in reality because of censorship but i guess they made it longer so it can make up for that certain cut in reality. TRAUMA and TEARS. Literal painful to rewatch I just cant-. LIKE the story is so beautiful and the script and lines are just beautiful. Gave such complex feelings and emotions and also depicts that real world problems. Personally cannot rewatch this without absolutely making a wreck out of me. its so mundane.. like her problems are so real and their journey on healing is so powerful. Was this review helpful to you?

IDK: what I hope the story would be (SPOILERS)
Honestly I was hoping for a really toxic and tension full dynamic and little more insane ml. Like it started off so addicting and like hot but then the ml turned out to be a HUGE fluffball (i dont hate it) like when it went cutie pattootie vibes it was entertaining just not what I was hoping for. Like it had such a solid foundation that could turn the plot into so much more. They could’ve expanded on this shared hatred and their clashed beliefs. Like they turned him into a hero, I just feel like it could’ve been a DARK ROMANCE, like in this he became an angel almost literally a benovelent general (again i dont hate just had hoped for dark romance). They turned Mei Lin into a damsel in distress, SHE IS MEI LIN, one who withstood torture for this revenge and you’re telling me she wasn’t upset at the fact that she couldn’t get revenge. The ML’s battle with his disability and pride was such a good struggle to highlight, literally broke me so much when he couldn’t hold his bladder. That loss of dignity and people should’ve flamed this vengeful side of him. His insanity shouldve been higlighted more like the part where he digs her body, or his possesiveness in terms of she CANNOT die(they could also do the “I decide wether you live or die” typa thing).The Plot went offcourse though, should mainly focus on revenge plot not repeating the fire massacre situation and including xiyan plot very unecessary. A simple plot with a detailed content goes a long way. They are way toooooo merciful with the villain, even gave him a love interest.Was this review helpful to you?

Story wise this series had good plot, its a really good concept, i just think that because the plot is soo intertwined with the past i did find it bland at the beginning. i do understand they needed to introduce soo many characters while also maintaining that level of mystery.. its really good it just not one to grasp your attention right away, well to me.I really adore the actors and their acting and they did really well. I just think the editing style or the characters itself feels a little off or kinda blank idk🤷♀️..I do love Yiran’s acting he does really well in expressing emotions through eyes. Bao Shang En’s acting is more method i think(theres nothing wrong with method acting), don’t get me wrong she i love her i just think theres room for improvement. idk there’s just something off.
Editing style was not for me💔😭. Like i love how the series was explored through actions and events as i vaugely remember i don’t think we ever heard inner thoughts which WAS A REALLY GOOD TAKE! BUTT!! the editing style…. idk i just have beef with the editor cus they had such good materials
Visuals was amazing thoughhhhh and literally pulled every kink i had( dont judge) cus blood never looked so bloody yet so good. The tension was really good too, I love that push and pull, like forbidden and longing. I love the fact that their fights and like reasons why they cant be together isn’t about misunderstandings, like they understood each other so well but had such different goals literally had me in chokehold. the last few eps were everything, as much as we dont want toxicity irl its just so intriguing and captivating and literally i lived for it.
Hot take: I think they should’ve let him live a few years and killed him off or kill him off a few months after. I just think a good ending doesn’t have to marriage. I feel like it needed that bittersweet end.

Never have I ever felt so misunderstood. Felt so bad for the ML like I understand the FL's reasonings which makes it even more sad. Literally felt so upset that I even cried about how he lost his uncle cus even if his uncle did what he did his uncle was THE father figure to him. Even if the emperor did mend his ways and needed a reason to vent or someone to blame he wasn't a father to nan heng. Was this review helpful to you?
