Very creative but also very weak
Weak. Probably the worse zombie movie I've ever watched. Korean movies have this thing where they put all their stats into production and not story. It's espeicially obvious in thrillers and horror. Hyeon Seok rampage for his sister came off way too strong and it would have worked if he was the only main character and the main focus. Like some john wick shi. That felt more like it was his girl bruh.They got rid of characters why too easily also, which I didnt expect for a TWO hour movie. They had 2 hours so why rush. There was no reason to emotionlessly dump everyone in the first half. They could have just wrote less characters. Yeong Cheol was written too flat. Which was definitely a choice. His death felt so anticlimactic. I mean the guy literally just drops on the floor. Also I knew that clique ending was coming.
I applaud them for being creative though.

Ain't no way that's how they write it
Gosh, what a terrible story execution. The story was so lackluster, there are no likable character, and the death was so dumb it pisses you offThey bring out such an amazing cast, they have great production value, the idea and concept is great, i don't know what makes the storyline feel so lackluster, but it just is. There are a couple of complain i have, first of all there are too many character that there are no depth whatsover to them, you could cut a couple of them, the main character se jong, she was written as this anti social person that didn't mixed well with other people, she is the main character, but like there is literally no stake for the character, her ex husband is dead by like the first 30 minutes of the movie, this movie was from the creator of train to busan so i expected something more emotionally touching, but you cannot do that if your main character is so detached, the people that she could have some kind of affection at least is dead by like the first minute of the main story and there is no way they could bond with the other survivor, everything happening around is just sort of written so that she could reach the conclusion of the story, but like it doesn't work because she doesn't feel connected to the other character, which they have a lot of them. Like she could bond with the bullied girls since they both were sort of outsider, she could bond with the sister's character, she could bond with jcw character somehow whatever, but noo, they were just become this people standing around her, waiting for the plot to happen to kill them. They were trying to give JCW character some kind of plot, but that too felt somewhat flat, i did felt bad when the sister's died, but then they makes his character go on a rampant (?), like what?, that so out of the blue.
And the at the end it feels like they were trying to force a sort of commentary about how society being so herd-minded is awful, i mean i get that but like, that's just feels so spiteful and cynical after they killed the good natured people in like the dumbest way and without even letting anything marinate so we could feel sad for them. Good and bad people could just die without so much of me even batting an eye, the main character didn't have any kind of character development and at the end it just revert back to the conclusion that she doesn't need development. It just feels like they were trying too hard to be edgy for me.
Well, they have great action sequence because they obviously have the budget, the sound design is pretty good. The movie itself is a spectacle if you didn't consider about how awful the story is, it could be a good horror movie to watch mindlessly, but other than that, it's definitely not for me

Thousands of movies telling us not to experiment things you don't fully understand yet again they do it anyways. First hundreds of movies, series, documentaries on how using AI on large-scale without understanding it consequences fully can be so dangerous yet it's happening right now, in front of everyone by money hungry people, sane will happen soon like in this movie, zombie apocalypse is much nearer thsn you think, and when it'll come, you won't be surprised as it's already a normal thing in our heads now.Was this review helpful to you?
Innovative zombie movie
Zombie movies/shows always has a similar story which makes me feel bored sometimes but this movie has a slightly more unique concept and got me captivated throughout with 0 boring scenes. A movie that made me say 'Wow, that was a good movie' after the movie ended. The storyline was captivating, had emotional scenes and top tier acting. FUN TO WATCH
the movie i was most excited to watch was definitely the one with jun jihyun. at first, i only saw the poster, so i had no idea who else was in it but when i finally watched it… heol 😭 the cast lineup literally A list actorsthe storyline kinda gave me train to busan vibes, but like… an upgraded iykyk😌 it was on another level
and ji changwook??? i srsly did NOT expect his ending to turn out like that koo kyohwan fit the role matched so well that i cant imagine anyone else playing it

A zombie movie that will make you reflect.
A great watch inside of the cinema!The creator/s packed this film with all the ingredients a movie needs to succeed. A death of a good character for someone not worthy, a smart lead, a strong lead, characters you would root for to survive, characters you would root for to trip and die, circumstances that made you clutch your friend beside you... Colony's formula might not be unique but the execution, for me, was one slap away from being fantastic (if you watched it, I think you know whose bully's ass' deserved to be b*tched slapped, I know everyone I watched it with was hoping for it to happen). They stuck to their plan and it landed well.
Most importantly, Colony isn't just a zombie movie that is all thrill and jump scare, at the core of it, the movie conveys multiple messages and truths to its audience. Humans, like any animals are just animals: it's one for all, until self preservation says it's all for one. There are many, but what struck me the most, based on my own interpretation of what was shown on screen, was something that reflects where I currently am. People, especially, when it comes to politics have this hive mind. They would defer to their number 1 like brain dead zombies, until they end up spinning round and round until all that's left are shells. It's really important to think on your own, humans, have their own brain, they should use their own brains and form their own thoughts end decide what they, as an individual should do.
It's funny to me how this movie, showed that one character Koo Kyo-Hwan’s character wants to connect all minds for everyone to get the same exact message with all the feels and nuances to avoid miscommunication, because I feel like, social media is just one step away from controlling us this way…

Absolute peak Korean action cinema
First screened at Cannes 2026, when none were expecting anything new to come out from zombie franchises anymore, director/writer Yeon Sang Ho is here to prove them wrong, this time around with fresh new implementation and insanely stellar performances, even bested himself after all the monster flicks that he has done in recent years. It has plot development and storytelling that makes actual sense, the heightened suspense is top class from all the settings that they've built, which gave the movie one of the most convincing villains ever in Korean movies. Acting performance is intense and the action sequence is sleek and highly believable, absolutely peak Korean action cinema.Was this review helpful to you?
they held jun jihyun hostage to make this i think
there are three important events in this movie and two of them occur through such stupidity you just gape in awe for the entirety of the movie. first off, we have this guy call the police saying he's going to launch a bioterrorist attack and he's the only one with the vaccine. fine. what do the cops do? do they send biologists to contain it? soldiers? no. they send cops. city cops, not like the korean fbi or biologically trained operatives or anything, but city cops. five cops, to be exact. sorry, what were they supposed to do? say he released anthrax or something. what is the benefit of these five being there? mind, they all die right as they enter the building, except the most insufferable one, and it actually would have been more helpful if they sent nobody. and then the second event. the scientist in the group says the zombies collectively interact and evolve, and basically what one of them sees, they all see. okay. living cop knows that the terrorist called himself the vaccine. okay. what do we know about vaccines? they contain the dead/inactive form of the virus. conclusion -> the terrorist is also infected and can communicate with the zombies. except no, let's discuss our entire plan in front of him. don't blindfold him, don't cover his ears, don't text so he doesn't hear, just yap on away. are we serious??? if anyone in this movie was smart, it would have lasted thirty minutes.also all the characters except sejeong and jcw/ksr are so aggravating, it's a joy when they're killed. like blah blah blah the true nature of humanity comes out in a crisis and we're all secretly evil, but can you be evil in an interesting way at least. the point of a movie is even if i don't like you, i should find your story interesting/watchable and it very much was not. and the fact that everyone at some point almost died trying to save red jacket's ass, is she truly that important? if she died, would the world stop spinning? if we're being evil and selfish and leaving people for dead, maybe we should have went for her ass first.

Que dire ? Magistral, un film incroyable.
J’espère il y aura un volet numéro 2.Le film était magistral pour moi vraiment, j’ai adoré aller le voir.
- Les zombies : (je considère même pas ça comme des zombies mais des infectés) se coordonnent est j’ai jamais vu cette thématique nulle part, c’est tellement originale et bien maîtrisés surtout la capacité d’intelligence qu’ils ont.
- Les acteurs : c’est des acteurs coréens donc magistral aussi l’acting comme d’habitude incroyable des scènes font pleurer surtout une je m’y attendais vraiment pas

Aucun temps mort, une réalisation magistrale
Je sors du cinéma où je suis allée voir Colony, que j'attendais depuis des semaines.L'attente en valait la peine. On retrouve bien la patte de Yeon Sang-Ho, le réalisateur de "Dernier train pour Busan", mais le style s'est encore bonifié.
Jun Ji-Hyun est exceptionnelle, Ji Chang-Wook l'est également, comme à son habitude.
Quant au scénario, il ne laisse place à aucun temps mort. wl'hidyoire nous tient en haleine du début à la fin.
Pas étonnant donc que le réalisateur et ses acteurs aient connu l'ovation du public du festival de Cannes.
Le cinéma coréen a de beaux jours devant lui.

dibuat oleh penulis cerita train to busan dan peninsula. film yg satu ini oke dalam pemilihan pemerannya. varian jenis zombie baru yg unik yg bsa mengeluarkan lendir buat berkomunikasi sesamanya. tpi alur nya jujur vibes saat nonton kurang greget, kurang bgt horor, dan ga ad yg bikin tegang²nya. ga kek karya film zombie sebelumnya ( train to busan & peninsula ). sungguh mengejutkan yg gua berekspektasi tinggi abang ichang ( ji chang wook ) bakalan berhasil menghentikan kiamat zombie lewat pesona aksi dan karismanya bersama tante jun ji hyun, malah diluar nurul abang ichang yg gua jago² in dsni malah jadi ubi ( penyintas yang tidak selamat ), mana metong nya ga keren² bgt lgi. endingnya bikin penasaran lagi, apakah nanti zombie nya bakalan bertindak dengan sendiri nya tanpa dikendali? gua berharap nya seperti itu di S2 nya nanti.Was this review helpful to you?
