Disappointing

I normally dont write reviews, but this had such high ratings I had to add a review. This series started out okay and I had high hopes for it, but was very let down. I thought we were going to get another series like Manner of Death, as in a crime drama that just happened to have gay characters, but plot focused. This was not what we got! The focus was very much JoongDunk as a couple and some crazy plot that was not developed well and got more and more lost as the episodes went on. The acting was also more and more mediocre as the espisodes went on from the actors across the board. I also saw this after watching High School Frenemy which did a great job focusing more on the plot, but still developing the character relationships. I was expecting even better from these more experienced actors.
Unfortunately, I think most people got stuck on the fact that it was their favorite couples and seemingly ignored everything else that is needed in a good production.

A waste of great potential and disappointing result

I am very frustrated by how disappointed I am.
I was so excited about this. new show from JoongDunk (the best ever btw ✨), and the scenario looked promising and had great potential.
At first I was very satisfied and honestly up until episode 3 I was enthusiastic. But after that, the unrealistic side of the story and topic (namely criminal investigation), the lack of feel in the mysterious part, basically the plot is just absolutely not plotting. I really tryied to support the show to the end, but last episode I watched (ep 6) got me so annoyed that I basically fast passed half of it…

Note I give a 3 star for the actors though because they have really improved over the years and I will happily watch their next show (given a minimum more investment and depth to the scenario).

Started promising, ended up disappointing me

Honestly, this drama is so overhyped.

I was trying. I was trying so hard to keep my hopes up. I was optimistic. I wanted this to be good so bad. But it still ended up being slightly more than average thing. I will finish writing this review and then hopefully forget about this just like the writers of this series forgot how to write a decent story.

The writting is terrible. Especially when it comes to the romance part. Kamin and Jade's relationship comes out of nowhere, the progress is questionable and it's so unnatural. Especially since the romance is forced in scenes where it's so unnecessary and/or unfitting. I literally couldn't care less about them as a couple, because the series totally failed to sell it to me as a viewer. For the first time I had issues believing JoongDunk their love. And I believe their love irl. The writing here was so bad that it made JD romance uninteresting.

You blink and suddenly they are together. Jade is way too whipped, pushing the intimacy everywhere (including medical examiner's office or literal crime scene), which just feels out of place. Way too many times are Kamin and Jade way too busy flirting instead of focusing on the murders (the plot manages to conveniently forget that Kamin got 7 days to solve the case). It makes it feel like the romance is in the way of the murder mystery, to which I just desperatly wanted to get back to, but had to sit through Jade and Kamin's tenth couple moment.

But to be fair, JoongDunk have incredible chemistry and if you separate the scenes from the plot, they are lovely, cute and enjoyable moments. If only they weren't happening while kids were being murdered on daily basis.

That brings me to the murder mystery part of this story.

It started really good. The Truth or Dare thing worked, we had 7 kids and wondered, who of them killed their friend Fai. I was hooked. Then came letters and more deaths and it was awesome. The deaths were creative and chilling (especially Bell's, I needed a few minutes to recover, I was shaking and it really gotten to me). Slowly uncovering the truth worked at the start too.

But then we lost focus. We got lot of unnecessary romance (I did not expect to yell "skip the flirting and give me the murders" at my screen during a JoongDunk drama, but here I was, doing exactly that), for some reason focused on a drug dealer way too much (we could've linked it to Phut way more easily than with two eps worth of bs) and we got AouBoom for some reason (and don't get me wrong, I love AouBoom, but what was that, they were so unnecessary here, especially in the last ep where they just straight up third-wheeled).

The plot also seemed to want me to turn my brain off with that, because a lot of plot holes and issues started popping out. Let me name a few here:

1) Why was Time totally forgotten during the initial investigation? He was the most sus during the first interrogation and Kamin with Jade didn't talk to him at all.
2) When Jay didn't come home in the evening (the night he saw Kla's death), Jade nor Kamin were alarmed and went to sleep calmly, even though they were aware he (Jay) could be the next target.
3) Jade and Kamin never saw Fai's body nor never wanted to (despite doing so with other victims). Phut gave them the "autopsy" results in EP 2, yet later when they were looking into the ketamine, they had to visit Phut again to let him run tox screen (even though he supposedly did that, since he told them about the other meds in her body).
4) Kamin being suspended but then the drama acts like if that never happened, he just keeps investigating.
5) They haven't found the secret cameras in victim's places until the plot allowed them to.
6) The whole idea of Champ's plan being orchestrating Fai's rape to make her his girlfriend. ... ... What?
7) The biggest mystery of this series being if Jay was or wasn't shot and him being quite chill despite being shot. My guy was acting as if that was nothing but a bruise and Kamin with Jade taking it so calmly as if GSW was a minor inconvenience,
8) Them saving Champ (who somehow survived despite losing a limb) and leaving Fai behind (even though she was just stabbed in her shoulder blade and should have been way more okay than Champ).
9) Phut somehow survivng despite standing right next to a bomb when it went off.

I could go on and on.

The final big reveal wasn't really revealing, since I figured out the killers (yes, both of them) by episode 5. Never felt this awful for using my brain, because it made me enjoy the ending even less.

The last issue is the production.

The audio engineer took a vacation and their 5 year old child took over. That's the only way I could explain the sound issues. Sometimes the audio is so quiet you need to boost up your volume to 200% to be able to hear what the characters are saying. Another time the audio is so boosted it blasts off your roof. Sometimes the characters sound like they are underwater.

The director was probably very tired and done with their job because the consistency was inconsistent. As I mentioned above, throughout the plot, there is a lot of issues. But the inconsistency was even within the scenes. I understand that there are multiple shots, but director should be able to make sure that people's hands are not rapidly changing postitions each cut.

The cameraman also had their issues, because why were completely static shots shaking as if there was an earthquake?

CGI was also low quality, but honestly, that wouldn't be a problem if the rest was good. Sometimes the budget is not there for flawless CGI and that's fine.

The acting was carrying this all. JoongDunk are amazing (though Dunk did struggle with the English lines a bit) and their chemistry is undeniable. I totally adored Ohm and can't wait to see more of him. Sing and Pahn absolutelly killed it in the last episode and were honestly the highlight of this series. The other actors did a great job too, which is admirable, since they were given such a terrible script to work with.

If this wasn't a JoongDunk series, I'm pretty sure the overall MDL score would be definitely lower.

I watched Goddess Bless Your From Death along with this and let me tell you, that was a good murder mystery. Not this. I am very disappointed.

Cannot believe they put this on Netflix

The whole time while watching this drama I could not figure out why they couldn't write the characters and the plot execution better. Jade and Khamin are supposed to be "good" police officers, but their investigative skills are less than average—bad even. At no point do they display urgency to solve the crime, they do not ask questions that should be asked, they didn't even look into Puifai's background to find out that she was in fact dating someone else. At one point they're standing over a dead body and flirting??????? If you want to make a bl series that has more of a plot than romance, at least try to make the plot good???????? Why insert a plot when there is no intention to follow through on the quality?? If you have an inability to write a good crime script then just stick to romance man. Though I have to say; GMMTV is not vastly great at that either. Most of the time their selling point for the series is that it's bl.

I am genuinely astonished by the fact that they chose a plot with such a gruesome murder and paired it with characters that do not care that college kids are dying. This was not engaging to watch at any point. I just found myself being annoyed at how the characters were making decisions—or a lack of decisions, rather. Save yourself the trouble and don't watch this lol.

I do not mind Joong or Dunk's acting and it's a shame because they seem to do better at slightly comedic plots, and this plot DOES NOT SUIT COMEDY. They put a lot of light-hearted scenes where light-hearted scenes DO NOT BELONG. If you have talented actors at least you should know where to put them. This would've been better as a non-murder mystery drama.

Dare You to Death felt a bit too cliché for me.

Dare You to Death felt a bit too cliché for me. The story didn’t really bring anything new, and the action scenes often left me with a “that’s it?” feeling.

It also seems like the budget may have affected the overall execution, especially in the action and production quality, which made the series feel underwhelming at times.

There were some cute and fun flirting moments that added a bit of charm, but they weren’t enough to carry the whole series.

Compared to Heart Killers, this one falls short in terms of impact and storytelling. Honestly, it felt more like a filler in the 2025–2026 lineup rather than a standout series.

The concept had potential, but it needed stronger execution to really deliver.

This is a mess

Story is a mess, characters are a mess, the whole plotline is a mess, everything is garbage. Not even joongdunk's chemistry can save this.

I was very excited and been waiting for dytd since it's announcement. Needless to say I'm beyond disappointed.

Never let this director work on anything EVER again.

P.s I bet on my life that nobody would even watch this if it weren't for the main cast aka joongdung. Let alone glaze it... Y'all gotta up your standards.

Survives on the charisma of its stars but stumbles under the weight of its genre ambitions

Dare You to Death arrived with the promise of raising the bar for Boys’ Love productions by pairing one of the fandom’s most beloved duos, Joong and Dunk, with a suspense-driven police investigation. The premise is undeniably intriguing: a group of university friends burdened by dark secrets begins to be hunted by a serial killer who leaves behind “Truth or Dare” cards. What unfolds on screen, however, is a series struggling with a severe identity crisis, wavering between a grim psychological thriller and a sugary romantic comedy, never fully committing to either path.

The show’s greatest point of friction is its tonal imbalance. While the plot attempts to build an atmosphere of real danger, complete with brutal deaths and rising tension over who will be next, the narrative is constantly interrupted by extended flirtation scenes between the leads, Jade and Kamin. It is commendable that Joong and Dunk’s chemistry remains “smooth as butter,” but it becomes difficult for viewers to stay immersed when the investigators in charge of the case seem more invested in seaside banter and leisurely bath scenes than in solving the murders happening around them.

On the investigative front, the series falters with a glaring lack of plausibility. The police department borders on amateurish, with procedures that ignore even basic protocol, such as detectives taking entire episodes to interview victims’ families. Clues often appear out of nowhere or conveniently serve the script’s needs rather than emerging from sharp deduction. For viewers seeking a solid crime thriller in the vein of Manner of Death, Dare You to Death offers little beyond easy solutions and dialogue that occasionally underestimates its audience’s intelligence.

Despite its structural flaws, the series finds moments of brilliance in its supporting cast and its portrayal of villainy. Puifai stands out as one of the most complex and compelling characters, carrying psychological weight and trauma that justify her actions in a far more engaging way than the central arc. Her dynamic with Dr. Ruth delivers the kind of “fascinating strangeness” one expects from suspense, hinting at the denser, more provocative story the show might have been had it not centered so heavily on fan service for the main couple.

Technically, the production is uneven. The soundtrack effectively underscores moments of tension, yet the cinematography and editing fail to craft impactful action sequences. Some fight and chase scenes lack urgency, and the emotional continuity of the characters is frequently disrupted. Watching a group of friends continue attending university as usual after the violent deaths of two members, without displaying the expected grief or fear, creates a detachment that makes it hard to genuinely care about their fate.

The finale also suffers from poor time management. The last episode rushes to resolve the mystery while wrapping up romantic arcs, resulting in scenes that strain credibility, such as villains passively observing executions without meaningful intervention. The excessive focus on “cute” moments at the expense of a more detailed explanation of the survivors’ futures and the legal consequences of the crimes reinforces the impression that the series was shaped more like an extended fan meeting than a cohesive work of fiction.

Joong and Dunk’s performances show clear growth compared to their previous projects, and their effort to bring new layers to their characters is evident. Yet they seem constrained by a script that does not allow them to fully explore this different facet. For devoted fans of the pair, the series delivers exactly what they want: constant interaction and endearing moments. For viewers searching for a suspense narrative capable of standing on its own, however, the experience may feel frustrating, occasionally veering into secondhand embarrassment when serious moments are undercut by gratuitous sweetness.

In the end, Dare You to Death survives on the charisma of its stars but stumbles under the weight of its genre ambitions. It is serviceable weekend entertainment, unlikely to leave a lasting mark on Thai suspense drama. The series ultimately serves as a reminder that, even within the BL sphere, strong chemistry cannot replace the need for a tightly constructed script and direction that honors the tone of the story it sets out to tell.

Mediocre!

I know many people adore the JoongDunk pairing, and I like them as well. But honestly, what kind of performance are they delivering in this series? Mediocre would be a generous word. It is not as if they have ever been hailed as great acting talents, but this time the result is genuinely embarrassing.

Like many viewers, I assumed that, being a Netflix production, the series would at least offer a minimally decent storyline. What a disappointment.

The script is weak, the direction practically nonexistent, several shots are awkwardly framed, and the acting is poor across the board, including the supporting cast. The romance lacks any spark, and, even worse, the supposed crime plot is painfully mediocre.

I am sorry to those handing out perfect 10 ratings, but I simply cannot see any merit here.

I would not recommend it as a crime drama, nor as a BL series.

I love JoongDunk but this is a WASTE OF TIME

Not binge watch worthy, if you're looking for a series that would make you want to watcch the next episode after watching the another, this one is not for you. I just watched each episode for the love of JoongDunk and Ohm Tpk but other than that I can say it's not worth watching for. It's a shame they put this on Netflix. It's a crime themed series but the Police/Inspector did not have a chance to solve a single case. They just waited for the crime to unfold and let everyone die. I can't believe that a college student and a doctor are smarter, faster, and stronger than this cops. I stopped watching it on Episode 10, 20 minutes before it ends, because after they let everyone die, they immediately go back to flirting with each other. I mean, yeah we get it it's a gay series but at least provide a good plot, not just 2 men kissing and flirting. SUCH A DISSAPPOINTMENT.

DEAR GMMTV, THIS IS A MESS, LET ME EXPLAIN WHY, THEN PLS DO BETTER

Warning: This review is really long and I wrote it entirely myself as a non-native English speaker. I genuinely tried to understand this series and ended up taking notes, rewatching scenes, and mapping the plot just to follow what was happening. If you don’t want to read all this, scroll to the TL;DR summary at the end.
I also want to make clear that this review comes from disappointment and a wish for improvement and is not at all meant to harm or hurt anybody who worked on the series or any viewers who enjoyed it. I watched the whole show and wrote a detailed review because I am actually invested and a fan myself. That said, let’s dive in.

So I watched this since I saw and liked Joong and Dunk in other dramas, so they already got a bonus from me here. But I still can’t describe how incredibly disappointed I am in this series and I seriously can’t understand most reviews here. It is so chaotic that I don’t even know where to start. And Jades super cringe, bad sticky tattoo which changes colors and magically appears and disappears, especially in swimming scenes, is the least of my worries here.
HOW DOES THE MAIN PLOT EVEN WORK?
Since the series never clearly explains the intention nor rules of the game, I can only try to reconstruct what the original idea might have been. A deadly truth or dare game meant to expose the sins of the “Avengers” group out of revenge. Each person receives a letter and must choose between truth or dare. If they choose truth, they admit their sins and die in a way related to their original sin. Or they choose dare, which is either helping the murderer or pick another victim. Nothing else makes sense to me, like this game can only function if you are forced to choose and if choosing different options acutally gives you a different output, if not this is not a game at all. If you think different, feel free to enlighten me. The problem is that the outcome rarely depends on the choices. Characters die even after completing dares. Some never receive both options. Sometimes multiple letters appear, sometimes none. At that point it stops functioning as a game at all.
Since the series is so chaotic I genuinely had to make a chart to even follow or understand the “game” content. Let me explain (here the 8 avengers in “death” order):
1. Puifai – Truth: Guilty for knowing all sins of her friends and not doing anything at all
Dare: Kill herself
Output: She pretends to kill herself, the letter at her place is fake, she is acutally the murderer. (Check ✓)
2. Tar – Truth: Guilty for r*ping Puifai.
Dare: ???
Output: Picks truth and dies. (✓)
3. Belle – Truth: Throwing acid on another girl (for who knows what reason, never mentioned) and forcing (?) Puifai for abortion.
Dare: Pick Cher or Jay to die.
Output: She picks Cher to die (but Cher is protected) and Belle is killed anyway (because Tonkla picked her). (✓)
4. Tonkla – Truth: Guilty for hit and run, killing a man with a stolen car.
Dare: Pick Cher or Belle to die.
Output: Picks Belle to die (which she does) and gets killed anyway. (False X)
5. Time – Truth: Secretly filming tapes (of his friends) and selling them online.
Dare: Bring the car.
Output: Brings the car, but gets killed anyway. (X)
6. Jay – Truth: Guilty for sleeping with Puifai (which I guess she consented to since nothing else is ever mentioned) and getting her pregnant (which he didn’t knew)? Puifai is kinda just mad that he didn`t help her.
Dare: Pick Cher or Champ to die (but Cher was already picked)
Output: He picks neither and gets out (✓)
7. Cher- Truth: Secretly sleeping around with her friend’s boyfriend and reveal Champ that Puifai was pregnant.
Dare: ???
Output: She never picks, she should have died because Belle picked her but ended living since Champ protected her, but died later on. (✓)
8. Champ- Truth: Buying drugs, sleeping around, helping Tonkla hide a body.
Dare: Drugging Cher and handing her over.
Output: He drugs Cher but the murderer still tries to kill him. (X)
9. Jade and Kamin – Truth: None existent.
Dare: Find the culprit.
Output: Well, they kinda do and they don’t die, so I guess that’s somehow correct. But it makes no sense that they are included in the letters at all (since they not only are not avengers, but also the motive for the murder was revenge and justice for their actions, but Kamin and Jade are not guilty in the first place) It was so incredibly funny to me that even the game masters where so disappointed in their police work that they had to dare them to actually do their job – so I had to include this here.
So as you can see I had to get really invested in this and still can`t make any sense out of it. Why force characters to choose if the outcome stays the same anyway? Why then play a game in the first place? The game is following neither any rules nor any structure. Sometimes they not even get both options to pick from or even get multiple letters? The idea had a lot of potential but it was really poorly done.

JADE AND KAMIN
In the first episode Kamin was introduced as a strict, somehow cold, successful supervisor. Who is professional, married to his job and strictly separates private and work. Somebody who follows laws and rules and will always prioritizes doing what is “right”. (Like questioning the police officer’s son, zero f***s given for hierarchy). Which I think was a good intention and interesting character design. He then also proceeds to give in to Jades flirting immediately and under no pressure, moving in with his subordinate, getting distracted from work all the time, makes Jade walk through the office naked and f***s on the office floor. He also later introduces a trauma of losing somebody, which we never learn what this person even was to him. But that trauma is not only not sufficiently covered, but also barely has any impact on him, his actions, or the series. He has no character arc and loses his whole backbone and personality in episode 2.
For Jade on the other hand I had the feeling that the intention was, that he is the nice, local, loving and caring police guy. Somebody who helps the neighbors and cares for his brother. Somebody who everybody likes, but who is somehow silently lonely and shy. (His brother Jay says he never dated except Yu, but Yu later says that they never dated, so it feels like some one sided interest to me. But it also shows that Jay actually knows a lot about Jade. They also help out the lady at the food street stall (while they really had more important stuff to do, but more on that later). But then Jade also proceeds to openly and absolutely shamelessly flirt with Kamin, showing no interest in work or solving the case at all. He also has an actual terrible relationship with his brother. Jade is not listening when Jay says something and screaming at him for no reason all the time. Jade did not ask his brother ONCE, how he felt when his friends died. Not even when he told him that the girl he liked (which is now “dead”) was pregnant with (most likely) his child. Jay has a serial killer threatening him (while he is actually innocent) and he never even thinks about telling his police big bro ANYTHING nor asking him for help. Like how much do you hate each other? (But then supporting that Jades boss moves in?!) And I didn’t even mention that Jade should not at all be handling the case, when his little bro is not only deeply involved but one of the main suspects …
The start of the relationship between Jade and Kamin had to be happening off screen. Because I didn’t saw it. Jade was from the first second intensively flirting with his new boss, which he just MET. And then proceeds, to FORCE him to move in with him. Then walks around almost naked and makes breakfast for the guy he barely knows. Both characters were introduced as somebody who would not blindly run into a relationship but then proceed to immediately act as if they had been close for YEARS. These people don’t know each other, they are boss and substitute. These characters would never act that way. There were no secret glances, no slow burn, no fire and no chemistry at all. It makes me seriously sad thinking how good these characters and their development could have been, if they would have actually had stick to their personality.

THEY DO ANYTHING BUT INVESTIGATE
I truly hope that the Thai police is not really as useless as shown in the series. After Puifai died they decided without any reason nor evidence that the murderer has to be one of the remaining 7 avengers, which of course is not the case. So they somehow decided to not only not investigate anything outside of this 7 people, but also never truly investigated nor (properly) protected any of them inside of this 7 people. It felt like everybody in this series considered the incredibly violet death of multiple students a minor inconvenience, even their own parents.
Even after they found the first letter (Tar) where is a picture of all 8 heads bloody and scratched out (which was a clear sign to me that somebody wanted all of them dead, but in later letters there are only the faces scratched out that are already dead, so I guess that was a mistake) they still never even considered that the culprit is propably not an avenger. The followed ONLY one trace (and that not even good), which was the korean drug king. Because apparently the ONLY way the culprit could get drugs in Bangkok is THIS drug dealer (which was ofc wrong). Furthermore, getting the drug kings customer list is not beneficial at all to them, since they never investigated a list of possible culprits they could compare it too.
They never talked to anybody at the university, which is where I would start if I am trying to find a shared enemy of a group of ridiculous students, who know each other from university. They only visited Puifais (who died Eps. 1) parents and home in episode 6, and never visited or talked to ANY of the other relatives. And not only that, it also took them until Episode 4 to even REQUEST Puifais autopsy report. Which is propably why they never wondered why Puifais autops was done by a different doctor and then just disappeared. In general, is the whole forensic team barely giving any information or needs multiple episodes to drop relevant information (But our investigation team was not interested in Puifais cause of death anyways, so why have forensics in the first place I guess.)
They never tried to understand the game nor try to figure out what everybody’s “truth” is. They also didn`t do anything about it after they found out what their truth was, even if some of the avengers committed serious crimes. Like why did nobody ever talked to the girl Belle threw acid on? You KNOW that Champ helped Tonkla to let the body disappear and you do nothing?! They asked for an alibi ONCE (which was for Champ in Episode 7) and then continued to not even check it.
I am not an investigator myself, but to me this does not at all look like they will figure something out, ever. More like, it is only 8 people, if we wait until 7 are dead we hopefully know who the culprit is.
They are also incredibly unprofessional: The first thing Kamin and Jade do after getting their own letter is telling one of their 3 remaining main suspects about it, just to name one example. At this point I had the feeling finding the copy shop in Bangkok which is even able to print shiny glitter red letters on black paper would have been more useful.

DO YOU HAV ANY MOTIVATION TO BE ALIVE OR DO YOU AT LEAST WISH YOUR FRIENDS TO NOT BE DEAD?
Everybody in the series was acting as several cruel murder cases is as threatening like Sunday morning coffee. Not even the avengers, after their friends died like flies, and they got threatening letters, were afraid nor did anything to protect themselves. Also none of the avengers told the police anything useful ever or put any effort to stop this. Like some of them are trying to protect their own actions because they actually committed real crimes, I get that. But why didn’t Jay or Cher said anything? Jay did nothing, Cher didn`t kill Puifai and beeing a wh*re is not a crime. They also collectively decided to not accept to be protected by the police. Which was meaningless anyways I guess, because even when they had police force following them around they somehow all died without anybody seeing anything.
Jay is actively and willingly sneaking out of the hospital to MEET the murderer. Champ who lives with at least 3 bodyguards/butlers decided to move to a house in the middle of nowhere with Cher, then also proceeds to actively and willingly meet the murderer. Like dude, you are rich, how about a long nice vacation somewhere anywhere but Bangkok or hm, maybe just stay where you are? None of them even tried despite KNOWING that they are about to be dead (no matter if they pick truth or dare).

CONSISTENCY WHERE?
The whole series felt like they filmed multiple scenes without any context and then asked an intern on their first day to put in in any random order. Jade and Kamin keep popping up at scenes without any explanation how they got there, why they are there, where they are or how they knew they want to go there. Why is the scene where they visit Puifais parents in Episode 6 and not when she was actually “killed”. There is no chronological order of the events from the game, which makes it even harder to follow the game at all. Random pool scenes. Kamin and Jade going on a “detox” date day or reparing/ cleaning the house while 4 students are dead and Jades small brother might be next. More random pool scenes. Why did they have a sleepover at the office one night? Why is the POLICE breaking in an (I guess) abortion clinic searching for Puifais abortion documents? First of all, you are the police, you don’t need to break in, second, how did you know this is even the right clinic when you had no idea about Puifais abortion documents (because well, apparently you were there to get them?) Who is the random man there, also trying to steal (?!) stuff? I am not even sure if this is actually an abortion clinic, because the scene just happened without any explanation about where or why they are. Kamin randomly starts smoking in Episode 8, like Kamin? I don’t think you do actually smoke. I mean that’s just a small thing but the order is just such a mess. The only consistency in the series was that somebody needs to tell Joong that when you swim freestyle your head is supposed to be under water (this is why you wear goggles). This not only makes you way faster (better aqua dynamic and weight balancing) but also makes you look way less likely to look like you are actively drowning (don’t forget to breath though pls <3).

THE SPECIAL OPS TEAM AND THEIR HAT CHANGING CAT
So the special ops team consists out of Yu and his boyfriend and a random third dude who is never introduced. This random third dude, who is always wearing an old style gray hat (which apparently he has multiple from in multiple colors because in Episode 9, when they are tracking down Jay, he took some time off from saving Jays life to change to a brown one) And this fashionable hat guy, is also clearly seen in the backflash scene where Kamin is telling Jade how he once lost a team member in a gun battle. But wasn’t Kamin coming from the U.S. and wasn’t he new to the team and nobody knew him before? So apparently hat guy has an identical twin in the U.S. special ops team who also loves hats, he is Schrödingers Cat, Kamin lied to Jade about his origin and the whole team is just pranking Jade OR this was just bad script and a “oh we need another random statist in this scene – you with the fancy hat, come here”. Pick your favorite.

World's Most Incompetent Cops

Going into this, I was super excited for the murder/crime aspect of this show, especially as someone who really loves crime dramas. If you're going into this for that like I was, SKIP IT! This show is a romance that happens to have a crime happening in the background. The cops can't solve a case for shit, and spend all their time flirting instead.

Jade (Joong) is the cop in charge of a new murder case when a new inspector Kamin (Dunk) arrives to help. The two of them investigate the murder of a college girl and the subsequent murders of the other students in her friend group. As murders continue to happen, Jade's brother Jay is also put at risk, as are the cops themselves. Even though the cops don't get along at first, they grow closer as they work on the case - and Jade's immediate attraction to Kamin is obvious to everyone.

I have never watched a crime show with more incompetent cops. These guys did not solve ANYTHING!! Even up to the very end (no spoilers here) they basically didn't do anything themselves. They quite literally just spent their entire time flirting with each other. The romance fully took away from the actual plot of the show. If you don't care about the crime and just want to see Joong and Dunk flirt, go ahead and watch it. If you care about the crime aspect at all, there are much better crime dramas....

Horrid writing and Plot Development

I'm gonna start off by saying I had so much hope for this show... but..---Also this review is very much not structured and just me placing my thoughts...

I feel like this show had SOOO MUCH potential but it all kind of fell a bit flat. Diverging from the acting, because I've seen a lot of people hating on that, and honestly I feel as though relative to past shows, it has improved but yk... Anyways that plot and writing..

I'm so sad because it had so much potential but omg it was all over the place( Kind of like this review). I loved the entire idea of the plot itself but the writing felt so... unstructured... Like I get it was supposed to have romance in it but In my opinion the romance plot came out of nowhere, it was like they wrote the script then remembered it had a romantic aspect--AND OMG WHAT KIND OF OFFICERS WERE THEY??? Every other scene somebody would be dead and they'd be flirting in proximity of the body.. LIKE????

Also, from my novice understanding of filmmaking (having taken approximately 1 film class😭) Most shots just felt like the characters were just entering the scene, idk... I feel like in every scene the actors knew they were being filmed... everything felt like acting...(I've explained horribly but idk how to put it into words) it was so annoying because it felt like i was watching a show, like i wasn't immersed into the world at all. There's one scene in particular that I found made no sense, and thats the one where Jade and Kamin were talking to Cherreen and Champ outside the uni, then they go into the building, ask one question, then boom their outside again.... HUH??? sigh---Aslo we're not even gonna talk about those gunshot and blood effects in ep 9... Cuzz.....

Idk I had high hopes for the plot line but i felt like the execution definitely wasn't the best ( I love JoongDunk tho, so I def hope they're given justice with a better script next time, and probably directing too ).

Anyways If you're looking for something to watch periodically and don't rlly care about writing and stuff, feel free to watch it..Its a fun past time I'd say.

Also, Question: if practically everybody is dead, can u consider a case solved???
