Fun to watch

I'd say this was quite fun to watch, even if the plot revolves around tracking a serial killer. I will give the show some bonus points for the fact that I couldn't figure out the killer until it was revealed, so the plot wasn't too predictable. I feel a little bit that the ending was rushed or alternatively they didn't have a budget for a special episode, so to the last episode they had to fill in the conclusion of the actual murder case and then content that you usually see in BL special eps.

In terms of characters we did get nice variety and there was genuinely a decent amount of plot points that did end up tying in with the final conclusion of the murder case. I was bit surprised how fast Karmin's and Jades's relationship progresses, based on the first few episodes I was maybe expecting a longer development arch. I think you are either going to like it or think they were bit fast with the relationship development. Joong and Dunk have now done quite many shows together, so the chemistry works. Most importantly unlike with some cases of BL actors working as pairs I didn't have dejavu that I have seen this exact same set up with them in another series before. So another set of bonus points for making this feel like were watching Joong and Dunk in a genuinely different castings compared to their previous shows.

Conclusion:

- If you like the particular main actor pairing you are going to probably like this.
- There is some amount of violence, bc of the main plot and some other very sensitive themes aside from violence so watcher beware.
- Main plot held together to the end.
- Rewatch value is bit meh, common issue with detective/police theme series in general: once you know how the case will end, it takes one of the main motivators to watch away.

Tbh I wasn't focus on the main couple, okay JoongDunk are cute, but I wasn't that emotionally attached to them.

At first, I also didn't care much about the murder case. But after a few episode, I was so into it. How the killer just target the friend's group because they are bad people.. Hmm.. Totally my taste in thriller.

I stand on Puifai side, sorry she was right to do so. They deserve to die.

The most incapable police officers ever!

OMG... why did GMMTV decide to put this pile of crap on Netflix? If they wanted to promote BLs, this was the wrong series to do it. This series was also the wrong series for the actors. Would they be 15 years older, than their ranks would make sense, but so, it was completely unbelievable. While we all wish the actors do stuff besides school or university GMMTV does not comprehend that certain roles requires an certain age. What's even worse, they had considerable audio problems through many episodes where they (the production team) failed to check that the recording would be fine. For GMMTV this is inexcusable. It's not an independet low budget production where technical shortcomings can be overlooked, but not when they put it on Netflix.

The story itself is also boring as fuck, there is not even a real romance evolving, just one guy pushing the other and it just "happens"... no finesse, no real heartbeating moments... For a BL this was very disappointing. I don't have to talk about how incapable they both are as police officers, going first to eat and then go the location - while at said location someone dies... OMG.

Everyone rating this show high should take off their pink glasses and really question what they are rating. This shows has no heights at all. Yes, to watch JoongDunk is nice, but there are tons of tiktok/shorts seeing them together and that is WAY better than watching this. I did not expect much from GMMTV but even then it was a great disappointment and a waste of my time. I know the fanarmy will bash me and say I should not watch it if I don't like it, but the point is I watch it to write reviews for people who don't have the time to watch a lot and to tell them not to waste their time. There are ton more series even from GMMTV which are way better than this crap.

Joongdunk did the best, but director fu***ed up

First of all, acting is great, Joongdunk bring chracters to life and acted perfectly. Jadekamin is almost as I imagined while reading the novel. Overall storyline is not bad, but completely different than the novel and, what is important: they missed a lot of value scenes. There is in my opinion lack of good music in particular scenes as it was in Heart Killers. I also feel that plot trailer is way better than actual series, so it is clear the new director messed up. I'm so proud of Joong and Dunk and their improved acting (especially it made me cry when I saw how Dunk grow up well). I wish DYTD was made by different producer, who know how to use Joongdunk potential and chemistry. As a typical thai bl it is great, but as Netflix thriller series it is kinda dissapointing, and I am convinced that Joongdunk could handle Netflix level.
Overall, the series is interesting and portait beautiful love story, despite tragic stories occured in the background.
Love Joongdunk forever and wish them the best with better director in the future.

High Expectations, Low Execution. IM DISAPPOINTED.

When I first read the plot of Dare you to Death, I genuinely thought it had the potential to become one of the best BL dramas out there. The crime storyline was strong, the concept was intense, and the chemistry between Joong and Dunk off-screen is undeniable. So naturally, my expectations were high...

And that’s exactly why I feel disappointed.

Let me be clear: the acting wasn’t the problem. The cast did well. The OST was good. The visuals were beautiful. The twist near the end was actually interesting. But the execution of the story didn’t match the potential of the script.

From episode one, there were too many coincidences. Things happened too conveniently, and some important details weren’t fully explained. If you watch it casually, it’s entertaining. But if you try to really analyse the plot, some parts just don’t make much sense.

The biggest issue for me was the relationship development.

Kamin and Jade had potential. We saw parts of Kamin’s past — why he’s cold, what shaped him — but Jade’s background felt underdeveloped. We’re told things about him, like how he’s never liked anyone before, but we’re not really shown it. That emotional build-up was missing. Because of that, their relationship felt rushed instead of deeply earned.

And this is where I feel the directing and production let the drama down.

Off camera, Joong and Dunk clearly have strong chemistry. You can see it in interviews and behind-the-scenes content. But in the drama itself, that chemistry didn’t translate consistently on screen. It felt like something was holding it back. The emotional tension could have been stronger if scenes were directed differently.

Even the production choices were confusing at times. For example, the fire scene in the last episode didn’t feel realistic. It looked fake, and instead of feeling tense, it unintentionally felt awkward. That moment should have been intense and emotional, but it didn’t land properly.

There were also unresolved details. The house burns down — but What fully happened to the doctor? Some events are implied rather than shown, which makes the ending feel incomplete.

Overall, I did enjoy watching it. It wasn’t terrible. But it didn’t reach the level I expected after reading the plot. The story itself is strong. The crime aspect is interesting. The twist was good. But the pacing, missing details, rushed relationship, and inconsistent execution made it feel like something important was missing.

I honestly believe it would have worked better with more episodes, stronger direction, and deeper emotional development.

It had the potential to be unforgettable.
But for me, it just didn’t fully deliver.

Really needed better balance between romance and case solving

Couldn't hold myself back, had to add a review. Damn over the years i love how their acting has visibly improved. Especially Dunk during hidden agenda and star and sky u could see his acting was kinda... awkward and not very natural but then in heart killers he just killed it and here he is killing it😌

I really love how their roles switched from FadelStyle haha. I love how Jade is more like style here flirty & sly and kamin is rich cold boy who's not falling for any of his tricks 🤭🤭 so we're doing great on the romance side

As for the suspense, murder mystery side. I think we're going good here too cz i am curious and kinda regretting watching it on air😭😭

Edit: that's how i started watching this drama but I'm disappointed. I'd not watch this show if not for JoongDunk. I feel the balance between romance and suspense is totally off. For 8 episodes the case has barely showed any progress. The police says they wanna save the kids but they never try🙃. They always show up after someone dies. Okay you don't have permission to protect them atleast ask an informant to tail them or something. The worst part is an inspector's brother is involved and he got no idea about his brother meeting his friends or not coming home for a night. Soo many people died in a short time span this case should on top priority but they're taking their own sweet time. The kids are dumb for not informing the police about the dare letters when all their friends are dead. Any normal person would know they're gonna die too so better get help. Also champ why tf is he scared? He can just hire gaurds and protect himself idk the avengers gang seems dumb the police doesn't care... I'd prefer if they had a better balance like dramas like "laws of attraction" or "goddess bless u from death". gmmtv just sucks with suspense i guess cz it was the same with melodies of secrets but that was slightly better than this.

Edit: the last 2 episodes were kinda good although the middle was meh i think I'd like it much more if i didnt spoil myself with the killer😅 so that's my bad. Also loved the real life joongdunk reference in the drama. Hope to see them marry onscreen soon😭😭😭

Dare You to Death (2025) – EP.10 Final

The final episode reveals that Fai, who was believed to be dead, is actually alive and behind the entire revenge plot together with her doctor boyfriend.

Her motivation is undeniably tragic, and the confrontation scene forces Jay into an impossible moral choice. The emotional weight of Fai’s backstory adds depth, and the hostage sequence carries genuine tension.

However, the “Fai is alive” twist, while shocking, feels somewhat abrupt. A bit more foreshadowing would have strengthened the reveal and made the suspense feel more earned. The mystery elements — especially the “Truth or Dare” envelopes and the masked figure — had strong potential, but the overall structure feels slightly uneven toward the end.

After the case is resolved, the tonal shift to Kamon and Jade enjoying a romantic vacation feels very GMMTV — comforting for fans, though somewhat detached from the emotional aftermath, particularly for Jay.

As always, the chemistry between Joong and Dunk remains the highlight of the series. Dunk’s screen presence is undeniably strong — he looks effortlessly charismatic in this role. While some emotional scenes could have carried more nuance, his visual impact and natural pairing with Joong continue to anchor the show.

Overall, a decent finale with solid chemistry, though the suspense writing could have been tighter.

It could have been perfect (YES IT HAS SPOILERS)

Every year I watch GMMTV line-up and in lasts year Dare You to Death was one of the shows I was more excited for. Here is my honest opinion about the show.

First of all I haven't read the novel so I just have an opinion of a viewer that has only watched the show.

I really liked the plot. By the plot I mean the murders and the mistery scenes. I'm not a casually watcher of crime shows but I started this one off course because of JoongDunk, not gonna lie. The thing is that I didn't enjoy their scenes so much. Not a problem with the acting, let me explain myself. I think the show whas so short and things between them happened so fast that they didn't have time to fit the love story in. I don't know if you (if someone is reading this lol) understand it.

Okay, going back to the main plot, cause I think the main plot is the crime. I liked it a lot. I don't know how the plot twist felt for other watchers because by the second episode I had already figured it out (like, everything, that Puifai was alive and that the doctor Puth was helping her, with the time I made a theory that they were dating and it came out being exactly like that), I just know that I felt so proud of myself for doing it. I like when shows don't give us fake hopes so this is a very good point.

So, I would recommend this show beacuse of the mistery parts, not the romantic ones cause I think they didn't fit at all, again, not the actors, the way it was done. Anyways, I loved waiting every thursday for this show, it was worth it.

Script's a mess, but we still love JoongDunk

With all due respect, and retaining our love for JoongDunk; the show made little sense storywise. I haven't read the novel, probably half of what's wrong could be blamed on it.
The characters' choices made no sense. While their friends were literally dying, the remaining guys continued living their normal lives, going outside alone etc. as if someone's car was stolen or just a house burned down.
The killers never left anyone alive after choosing T or D, and everyone still believed they won't be murdered.
The ending was the biggest mess. Why are there only two policemen on the scene in the last ep? The big grown-ass man Kamin pointing a gun at Fai, but unable to knock out the small girl? Why is Jay outside and safe, but then suddenly kidnapped again to be burned?
Screenwriters should have gone with simpler solutions.
It's 8 stars from me solely for the humour, love and JoongDunk in the series. Heart killers was their better work, it made more sense. Cheers.

if they put half has much energy into solving the case as they did flirting, no one would've died

joongdunk, i love you, and you are the ONLY reason this show is as good as it is. let's get into it.

i'm going to start with the good, there's a very decent amount. first of all: joongdunk. second of all: aouboom. am i biased that two of my favorite ships were in this show? absolutely. but still, they did a great job. i think that joong as jade was FANTASTIC. that man was playing himself. i can tell he was having fun with this role, so i was having fun right along with him. it was also really funny seeing joong play a cop when i'm still stuck on his role as fadel in the heart killers like.. bro really went from a hitman to a police chief you can't say thats not hilarious. dunk also did great! while i don't think he's quite as strong of an actor as joong is, he still delivered a solid performance and he does have real chemistry with joong. aou and boom may have not had much screentime, but let me tell you when they first showed up i SCREAMED. i did NOT know they would be making an appearance, and oh my god was i excited when they did. of course, they nailed their parts as always!! other highlights from the show include the ost yall DARE YOU TO LOVE IS SUCH A GOOD SONG!!! that song deadahh is on my playlist and in my daily rotation like it is THAT good. i also think that pahn and sing did a great job playing the killers. now, let's move onto the bad..

so like, the "bad" that im about to discuss may make it seem like this show is a LOT worse than it is. these are just nitpicks (for the most part), so none of these issues i have ruin the show in any way. with that, lets talk about my biggest issue: the writing. guys, you are POLICE OFFICERS. people are DYING. college kids are DYING. there is a MURDERER on the loose. how, literally, HOW are you guys casually flirting on the job, FUCKING IN THE OFFICE, and acting like nothing is wrong. its genuinely so unrealistic. i was literally laughing when they started fucking in the police office i was like are we so serious right now. but yeah, my huge issue with this show is just how they can't seem to balance the romance with the mystery. jade and kamin can fall in love while ALSO doing their jobs!! i feel like as soon as any romance started happening, the mystery just fell to the waist side. my favorite scenes in the whole show was actually when jade and kamin weren't there, and it was just the kill scenes where i was looking for clues. i noticed that the killer had earrings, so i guessed it was the doctor because sing has earrings. it was little things like that that make the mystery FUN, so when the writers gave up on the mystery plot when dealing with the love story i was lowkey mad. besides that, my only other main issue was just how unlikable literally EVERY supporting character was. literally, all of the "avengers" were assholes and i was rooting for them to die. i was genuinely mad when champ survived like i wanted that mf DEAD he pissed me off so bad. even jay was extremely unlikeable and i found myself rooting against him more than i was rooting for him. it got to the point where i was literally on fai's side entirely like yeah girl your friends are highkey evil they deserve this.. i had a particular problem with champ, i'm not sure what it is, but chimon is really good at playing the most unlikeable characters ever. i think the only time i've ever disliked a character more than champ was with ben in never let me go, and guess what, CHIMON PLAYS THEM BOTH. and whats crazy is i really love chimon as a person, but dear god is he good at playing assholes. last issue i had with this show was the doctor, not the killer, but the other one. the one always asking for kamin's contact like bro SHUT UP. everytime he came on screen i genuinely groaned like bruh i did NOT give a gaf about him at all.

one more thing that i actually was pleasantly surprised by in this show was all the deaths. i did not expect literally all of the avengers to die pretty much, but they did, and i was glad. i think i'm so used to seeing tv shows being too afraid to kill characters off, so it was refreshing seeing this. i was genuinely SHOCKED when champ killed cherreen in the last episode like i did NOT see that coming. when watching that scene my jaw was legit on the floor.

in conclusion, this show is very good. is it flawed? 100000%, but it never acted like it wasn't. joongdunk's chemistry carries this show, and thats okay. i had fun with the mystery over the 10 weeks it aired, playing detective trying to solve who the murderer was. i think that its a shame gmmtv barely promoted this show because it deserves a lot more attention than its got, but i guess every gmmtv show is getting overshadowed by me and thee anyways so.. im going to wrap this up by saying that i love joongdunk, and i dont think this show would be nearly as enjoyable without them.

Only good thing is Joongdunk

Just finished watching Dare You to Death, and I have very mixed feelings about it.

First of all, the songs and overall production were really good. The OSTs were beautiful and matched the mood of the scenes perfectly. The cast also did a great job with their performances. Everyone delivered their roles well, and visually the drama was quite pleasing.

However, the story writing was honestly disappointing. The first three episodes were actually interesting and made me curious about where the story was going. The pacing felt decent and there was some suspense that kept me watching. But after episode 4, the plot started to feel very slow and repetitive. Many scenes felt unnecessarily stretched, and the storyline didn’t really develop in an engaging way. It became quite boring, and at some points it felt like nothing meaningful was happening.

To be very honest, the only reason I continued watching the drama was because of JoongDunk. Their chemistry was the main highlight for me. Every scene they had together was enjoyable and kept me from dropping the series completely. Their acting and natural interaction really carried the emotional moments of the show.

If it wasn’t for them, I probably would have stopped watching halfway. The writers had a good start and a lot of potential, but the execution after the early episodes just didn’t live up to expectations.

Overall, great cast and music, weak storyline. I stayed till the end only for JoongDunk.

Lower your expectations

(PSA: ALWAYS check the premiere dates and compare them with the dates of those glowing 10 star reviews if you want honest feedback. Some reviewers claim they have watched ALL the episodes even though the series has barely started. Do yourself a favor and go to the their review history. 🚩🚩🚩 red flags if you see only ONE review about said drama)

Lower your expectations when it comes to the storyline and overall storytelling. True crime series from Thailand often lack the budget and technical resources needed to deliver a gripping and polished crime drama. However, the issue is not only about production limitations. Some of the narrative decisions are questionable from a logical standpoint.

For example, how can someone calmly enjoy a relaxing bubble bath after receiving a ToD note, especially when their friends who received the same notes have already died? Moments like this make it difficult to stay immersed in the story. You have to ask yourself whether a writer who makes this kind of logical choice can truly deliver a compelling true crime drama.

There are no particularly engaging deductions, detailed forensic analysis, or tightly constructed investigative threads to elevate the tension. If you switch off your critical thinking and watch it purely as light entertainment, you may find it more enjoyable.

Overall, it was a poorly written I-Know-What-You-Did-Last-Summer wannabe mess.
