IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING THIS...WHAT???????

So first of all, I'm not a actor fan who will cheer bcz my fav actors are there. I didn't even know about them from the start. Secondly I'm not a dakaichi fan as I've never read it. But from all the edits I've seen, I can guarantee they don't only look like the characters, they embody them.

Every episode is adding value to the plot, nothing is fluff or casually done. Their emotions are so beautifully portrayed. The cinematography is like an art film and beautiful way of story telling.

I'm loving it everyday. I will rewatch as a whole once the series ends airing. If you're a bl fan, just go for it. Trust me. Chemistry, acting, good looks, plotline, everything is serving.

Between expectation & reality - Why "Top Form" didn't quite convince me as a Dakaichi fan

As a big fan of the anime Dakaichi, I was really looking forward to the Thai adaptation Top Form. I watched the anime every day for two months - that's how much I have taken this anime, the characters and especially Takato to my heart. Maybe that's why my expectations of the adaptation were not only high, but also very emotionally charged.

Characters that don't quite hit the spot - especially Akin

One of the biggest problems for me is the portrayal of Akin (Takato). Don't get me wrong Boom is a great actor and a perfect fit for takato. In the anime, Takato was a professional through and through - cool, ambitious, proud - but at the same time wonderfully quick-tempered and internally chaotic. This contrast made him lively and charming. In Top Form, however, Akin increasingly comes across as a completely different character: less like a celebrated actor with a strong presence, but rather overwhelmed, childlike and incongruous. His personality fluctuates depending on the scene, which makes it difficult to take him seriously or empathise with him.

Jin (Junta) is also difficult to categorise. On the plus side, he's not abusive, which is something I strongly criticise in anime. That's a step forward. But unfortunately a lot of Junta's aura is lost in the process - he seems rather passive in the adaptation, without the gentle but determined energy that made him so special in the original.

Good chemistry and a strong cast
What Top Form succeeds at, however, is the chemistry between Akin and Jin. Despite the weaknesses in the characterisation, you can feel a real connection between the two, and their silent moments are some of the strongest in the series. Boom as Akin in particular is a very good choice for me. Even though the script sometimes treats his character inconsistently, he manages to convey Takato's vulnerable and proud side in a credible way.
A small but very successful detail is that the series has retained the popping angel wings - a charming visual quote from the anime that always brings a smile to my face and builds a nice bridge to the original.

Missed opportunities and confusing decisions
What particularly disappointed me was the omission of some iconic scenes: Takato's monologue on stage, giving back the key card, the scenes with his grandmother- all these moments that convey depth and emotion in the anime are missing in top form. Instead, there is a new storyline about an abusive fan - a fundamentally important topic, but one that is resolved in a strange way. Akin almost "apologises" to the stalker and bursts into tears - a scene that was emotionally and logically incomprehensible to me.
What I did like, however, was the moment when Jin comforts Akin after the incident and the company is concerned about protecting Akin's privacy - and it's not primarily about their relationship. That was a quiet, powerful moment.

A topic with potential - but the realisation is lacking
I was hoping that Top Form would be a reworked version of Dakaichi - one that toned down problematic aspects of the original but retained the essence. The story of two celebrated actors who have to choose between love and publicity has great potential. Unfortunately, top form too often falls short of this potential.
Instead of a consistent reinterpretation, the series often seems discordant in tone and characterisation. I find it particularly unfortunate that Takato's manager Sasaki, who brings a humorous lightness to the anime, takes on a completely different, serious role in the adaptation. Ayagi, who in the anime functions as a contrasting, somewhat awkward "antagonist", also loses much of his originality.

Conclusion:
Top Form has moments that touch me - and I can see that the makers wanted to try something new. But as a fan of the original, I find it difficult to get involved with this version. The characters seem half-baked, iconic scenes are missing and the emotional depth of Dakaichi falls by the wayside.

I would have liked an adaptation that looked critically at the original but recognised its strengths: well-written characters, genuine emotional conflict and a balance of humour and melancholy. Instead, Top Form feels like an attempt to be too much at once - and loses the heart of the story in the process.

Watch for the plot, stay because Smart’s gaze disrespects personal space in the best way.

The Plot: Solid.

Pacing: Smooth. Doesn’t drag, keeps you wanting more.

Cinematography: Glossy. The lighting treats Smart’s face like sacred geometry.

Chemistry: HIGH VOLTAGE. Even the walls felt it.

Smart: …I need therapy. That’s the review.

The man acts with his jawline, and I respect it. Watching this man exist is both a blessing and a full-time emotional job.

10/10 would recommend to anyone who enjoys:

Yearning...

Intensity you can feel through the screen

Thirsty glances that belong in slow motion

And the delicious pain of falling for a man who absolutely knows the effect he has on all of us.

This is a Masterpiece

I have never read the manga or seen the anime so I can't compare this adaptation.

Let's start with the story, I can only say that it is very promising and starting top form I would never have imagined it would have impressed me so much, a simple plot but well managed throughout the series, there were never any gaps that I usually watch with Thai series.

I really appreciated both main characters, Akin is very cold and always tries to seem tough when in reality he is a big puppy while Jin is very patient and what I loved most in this series is their progress in the relationship, especially the way Jin always tries to solve the problems they encounter.
The NC scenes were done divinely, they are not like in other BL very explicit indeed, it was erotic but not at all vulgar and I love the direction and photography of this show, all the shots make sense and you can see that everything has been thought out in the smallest detail.

Now comes my favorite part, the two actors. I'll be honest I didn't know them before this series, but they have an incredible chemistry, every time I felt butterflies in my stomach when they were together. Not to mention Boom, what an actor guys, for me you could see top form just for him, I can't even explain the emotions I felt every time he cried, he is perfect for the role of Akin he manages to let every feeling leak out: I have to admit that now Boom is one of my favorite actors EVER.
Nothing to say to Smart either he did a great job too but Boom has that extra spark,
probably because of the years of experience on the set.

The music is also fantastic, placed at the right time and well chosen, nothing by chance.
For me it's an excellent 9 out of 10, maybe there are some small details that I didn't like every now and then, but the work done for this series is excellent and it shows.

Have set benchmark for all actors and series collectively!

This team has done the most amazing job!..this is a masterpiece!..actors..these guys are brilliant!..director, cameraman casting director.. awesome!..this series although two more episodes to go without doubt they have set the world of acting and series on fire!..simply brilliant..it is never about popularity or the hype of the actors and sheer fandom..but when one as myself who's never ever left a review or sign up just to do so is compelled to leave a note so that this team gets the best accolades it deserves simply is poignant on how the the actors had portrayed their characters by owning it as if it was their lives that was being showcased for the world to see..simply brilliant!..wishing this team the very best and looking forward to this team's future endeavors!..

The Perfect Chemistry Between Akin and Jin

The chemistry between Akin and Jin in Top Form is something special. I absolutely love the dynamic between them, especially considering the age difference and Akin’s years of experience in the industry. Akin has been in the entertainment world for so long, and seeing him interact with Jin, who is just starting out, adds so much depth to their relationship.

What really stands out is the fact that Jin's journey into the entertainment world is tied to Akin—Akin was the one who inspired him to pursue it. The dedication and admiration Jin has for Akin make their bond even more meaningful. It's not just about romance; it's about growth, learning, and finding inspiration in someone you admire.

And then there's Akin, the "crybaby" of the pair, which adds an unexpected layer to his character. Despite being the older, more experienced one, his vulnerability and emotional moments make him feel more real and human. It’s refreshing to see the older character in a more emotionally open light.

Their interactions feel natural, and watching their bond grow throughout the series has been one of the most enjoyable parts of the drama for me.

Top Form - Sublime story told with honeyed perfection!

"Top Form" emerges as a groundbreaking entry in the Thai BL (Boys’ Love) landscape, adapted from the acclaimed Japanese manga "Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year." This series does more than simply follow in the footsteps of its source material, it elevates the genre with a marvellous blend of emotional depth, nuanced performances, and high production values. As the global appetite for BL content grows, "Top Form" sets a new benchmark, not just for Thailand but for the international stage.

The heart and soul of "Top Form" are its two leads, Boom Raweewit and Smart Chisanupong, whose chemistry is both electric and authentic. Their performances are filled with longing, vulnerability, and empathy, making their characters’ journey feel deeply real. Boom’s portrayal of Akin seasoned actor wrestling with insecurities, is layered and compelling, while Smart’s Jin brings warmth and unwavering devotion. Together, they deliver some of the most poignant and heartwarming performances seen in the genre, drawing viewers into their emotional world with every glance and gesture.

"Top Form" excels in its storytelling, balancing familiar BL tropes with innovative, self-aware writing. The adaptation honours the original manga while making thoughtful adjustments that enhance the narrative’s emotional impact. The series delves into the complexities of fame, rivalry, and personal growth, creating a believable world where the stakes feel real. The direction and pacing are consistently strong, with sharp editing and a keen eye for detail, whether it’s the depiction of celebrity culture or the subtle nuances of the leads’ evolving relationship.

What truly distinguishes "Top Form" is its emotional richness. The series is suffused with longing, respect, and empathy, both between the characters and in its treatment of the audience. The slow-burn romance and the palpable sense of absence when the leads are apart create an immersive, emotionally charged experience. Visually, the show is polished and cinematic, with high production values that reflect the growing ambition of Thai BL dramas. Iconic scenes from the manga are brought to life with flair, and the attention to detail in costume and set design demonstrates the creative team’s passion.

"Top Form" is more than just a successful adaptation; it is a cultural milestone. Its success is already inspiring new standards in storytelling and production within the Thai BL industry and beyond. The series has the potential to influence future productions, expand the global reach of BL content, and foster a more inclusive and empathetic portrayal of love stories on screen.

Lastly, "Top Form" is a marvellous, sublime achievement that stands out as a game-changer for the BL genre worldwide. With emotionally charged storytelling, beautifully nuanced performances, and a commitment to quality, it is a must-watch for both longtime fans and newcomers. "Top Form" not only redefines what audiences can expect from BL dramas, but it also sets a new gold standard for authentic, heartfelt storytelling in contemporary television.

A Love That Feels Like Home ?

I don’t even know how to begin expressing what I feel right now. I’m completely overwhelmed by the love I have for Jin and Akin. This series, while it may not be the most groundbreaking in terms of plot, is easily one of the most special I’ve come across in a long time. The way these two love each other makes everything else feel secondary. Their chemistry, their bond… it’s honestly something rare and beautiful. It more than makes up for anything else..

I’ve never been one to believe in fairy tales... not the kind that end with a perfect "happily ever after" right after two people fall in love. That part always felt incomplete to me. What happens after they get together? What does love look like once the initial rush fades? This show dared to go there. Jin and Akin get together so early on that I honestly wondered what the rest of the story would hold. But what unfolded was something far more meaningful than I expected- it wasn’t just love, it was life. The kind where two people stand beside each other, flawed and human, learning and stumbling and growing together. Laughing. Arguing. Forgiving. Existing. They make mistakes, face challenges and still choose each other every single time. There’s something so achingly beautiful about the way they love... it’s soft, lived-in, tender. It feels like coming home.

Sometimes I even forget I’m watching fiction. Their chemistry feels so genuine, so raw and warm, like a sunny summer afternoon you never want to end. And maybe that’s why this show has captured my heart the way it has. Because to me, this is a real fairy tale- not just falling in love, but learning how to live in love, every single day. ✨💖

All for being the Sexiest Man

I do love that they've somehow managed to make an eleven episode plot out of probably the most insignificant award ever, and what I love even more is that fact that it worked.

It worked very well. Is the plot a thinly veiled excuse to have Boom cry almost every episode? SURE! But did I also eat it up like it was no one's business? You bet.
Because by all means the plot was the most scattered and random thing ever, the entire series was based on the fact that one lead absolutely loved and adored the other and thus decided to become exactly like him. What followed that was a bunch of unprompted jealousy, weird entertainment company politics and just a whole lot of crime. I don't even know what happened there, it was the most random stuff ever and that was the way you could always tell that this was actually based on a manga. None of it individually, or together for that fact, should make sense, but boy does it.
But the plot was absolutely the most random thing ever, no doubt about that.

The glue was Akin and Jun. Jin.
Their love story was the entire point of watching and making this series, it carries the plot and was actually very, very nice. They had a complicated dynamic right from the beginning, teetering between attraction and pure detest, but it worked. You never have to ask yourself why they're attracted to each other or like each other, I guarantee that.

And with the romance comes chemistry. SO MUCH CHEMISTRY.
Boom and Smart, I mean.
The honey scene?! Come on.
And they had all kinds of chemistry, not just the intense kind, they had cute chemistry, the 'I'm dating my best friend' kind of chemistry and of course, they had the 'I want to kiss you with the force of a thousand waterfalls' kind of chemistry in spades.
Just so good together.

But.. but.. this review would be amiss if I didn't mention one person..
BOOM
What-
Akin was written for him. I think that quite a bit about a lot of characters, but that statement has never held more true in any other case. The nuance with which Boom played Akin.. I mean.. it was perfect. No words would be enough to describe just how perfect he was, hats off. Just brilliant.

My only real complaint is the scattered plot, if it had been a bit more solid, would've been great but like I said, this worked, so I'm not complaining much.
Oh, I have one more complaint. The amount of times they made Akin cry. Why?

This is actually a very good series, it captured my attention and kept it until the very last scene, and might I say they set up a sequel? I don't know, if you know let me know.

Unexpected BL Gem! Top Form = Top Tier

OMG! I just finished this and I did NOT expect to be this obsessed 😭💙 From episode 1, I was already hooked! I’m still new to BL dramas, but this one seriously blew me away.

The story and pacing were so good! Not once did I feel bored. The acting?? AMAZING. And don’t even get me started on the chemistry… it was literally overflowing in every scene. The leads made everything feel so natural and real, I couldn’t stop smiling (and screaming inside lol).

I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy this BL drama this much, but I ended up giving it a solid 9/10. That’s even higher than my very first BL drama (Revenged Love) ... so that says a lot! 😍

Now I’m reallyyyyy hoping for a Season 2 because I’m not ready to say goodbye yet. Top Form totally won my heart and it’s officially on my faves list! 💕

✨ If you’re new to BL like me or just looking for a drama with amazing acting, a solid story, and insane chemistry, this is definitely the one to watch!
