There is no plot
The script writer(s) wronged the casts. The whole show was carried by the main leads chemistry and superb acting alone. There’s no character development, and no consequences whatsoever for very serious crimes depicted like attempted grape, drugging and filming someone while unconscious, extreme obsessive behavior by fans, etc. The worst part is how a “seasoned” actor reacts to situations like that. What happened to the confident and successful actor introduced in the first episode? The romance line development before the two main leads were together was so meaningless. The actions of Akin was inconsistent . It was a bit better when they get together but still makes no sense to let your lover quit what thy love so much. Unless the production team intends to make a season two and tidy up all the loose ends, this serie doesn’t have any rewatch value. Was this review helpful to you?
What a fantastic live-action adaptaion!! And NO, you don't feel like comapring with the anime
This has to be one of the best live action adaptation I have seen in a long time...I'm so in love with Jin's cute angel wings that pop up when he's paying special attention to Akin :DBL-needle Score: 9. Very High BL-ness
I'm loving it....Smart and Boom are both so good looking and damn cute together....as the leads, they are putting the screen on fire, and also doing a fantastic job in terms of the acting...
The usual compulsion to compare it with the anime was not really too high....but NGL, I did compare nonetheless, and didn't feel like I have to love this series any less than the anime...given how much I liked Dakaichi (the anime series), that is a big nod to how well they have adapted the story and made it their own...

Top Form is Living Up to Its Name – and Then Some!
As someone who's read the Dakaichi manga and watched the anime, I wasn’t sure how a live-action adaptation would capture the same intensity and emotion. But Top Form? It’s on a whole different level—it blew me away! With 8 episodes out so far, I’m completely hooked. From the spot-on casting to the insanely good chemistry between the leads, everything just works. Boom Raveewit as Akin is absolutely phenomenal—he doesn’t just act, he feels every moment, and you feel it with him. His use of body language, those subtle expressions, and especially his crying scenes? Devastatingly good. And Smart, playing Jin, matches his energy perfectly. Together, they’re magic.
What makes Top Form stand out in the world of BL is how real and intentional everything feels. The emotional pacing, the tension, the humor, the visuals, the NC scenes, and the soundtrack—all of it is so well-balanced and beautifully executed. It doesn’t feel rushed or overdone, just raw and sincere. You can tell the entire team behind this show knows exactly what they're doing—and they’re doing it brilliantly.
It also stays true to the source material while adding depth in ways that feel organic, not forced. Honestly, this is one of those adaptations that might even outshine the original.
To all my fellow BL fans here on MDL—you HAVE to watch this. I’m begging you. The chemistry? Off the charts. The story? Emotional and addictive. The visuals? Chef’s kiss. It’s that kind of series that makes you pause and rewatch scenes just to feel the moment all over again.
Let’s hype this masterpiece together—because Top Form is THAT drama. Trust me, your heart will thank you (after it recovers, of course).

A decent show that had a LOT of promise.
I definitely think the electrifying NC scene has catapulted this show to the top of everyone's lists. SmartBoom definitely have a lot of chemistry and the NC scenes are genuinely beautiful. But, there's no plot. The basic element of "show, don't tell" is missing. For e.g., show us the 21 days of relationship building when Akin and Jin got closer. Without it, it genuinely baffles me as to WHY Akin is suddenly soooo in love with Jin. I get that there's a connection between them, but for us to believe that they've gotten to the "I love you" stage with each other so soon, there just needs to be more. They don't talk to each other about anything else other than how much in love they are. Their relationship feels shallow and made to look deeper than it actually is because of the NC scenes.
Same with the characterization. They've developed Akin at least so you understand him a bit more but Jin is such a one-dimensional flat character that I find it hard to believe he's a real person. I also hate the amount of makeup Smart has been made to wear in the show— it's distracting in so many of the scenes.
The reaction to and the treatment of Akin's SA is extremely disturbing— its almost played off as a joke. And I think the show does not do a very good job of showing us the BTS of being in the entertainment industry and the cutthroat, capitalist system it is. The recent production of ThamePo was much stronger in this particular aspect.
I definitely think SmartBoom have a lot of promise and I would like to see them in a better written production next time.

Past the very entertaining honeygate, my interest drastically slowed down...
This BL features the evolution of the relationship between Jin, a rookie actor, and Akin, a very experienced popular one. I truly enjoyed the beginning, however, midway through I got more and more frustrated at the traumatic events being dumped on one of the character and the too easy handling of the many aftermaths. It felt very much "1 episode = 1 trauma = 1 resolution (often within the same episode, consequences be damned !). The quickness with which issue are resolved and their huge number totally prevented me to feel any angst for the characters. Some of the antagonists also had some easy way- out that I found absolutely undeserved and underwritten.Production had some clear high and low. Some scenes were memorable (even if kinda gross and logistically impossible, aka the honey scene). However, the camera work was very clunky and awkward at times. It might be because of the huge height difference between the two male leads...But there were obvious issues framing properly their faces when interacting with each other, especially at the beginning in some critical scenes. It got better overtime though.
Despite those flaws, it is not all negatives. The chemistry between the actors was very good. They seem very at ease with each others and they share some very believable sizzling moments. The first part of the series with its solid introduction and the way the relationship get concrete was very entertaining. I also enjoyed the ending soundtrack, even if the remainder of the OST did not leave a lasting impression on me.
I would not recommend this to people because of my issues with the writing. The good chemistry between the actors could save it for you, so if you enjoy crazy BLs show set up in entertainment industry with an heavy part of dramatic events, this might totally be up your alley. Unfortunately for me, I got too annoyed with the traumas dumping on one of the main characters and the easiness with which everything was resolved each time, preventing me to care about what was happening on screen.

Not up to the hype
When I watched this for the first time I was so amazed by Boom who is playing Akin that I didn't focus on anything else. Maybe that's why I was blind to the actual story. Upon another rewatch I decided this doesn't deserve more than a 7.Let's start on the positive note, the acting is great, amazing even for Thai bl standard. Boom is such a talented actor and definitely carried this series. The honey scene was great and the kiss scene right before that is so atmospheric and beautiful. The music was alright, but during the NC scene I'd prefer softer music instead of a fast piano.
Unfortunately there are a few more negatives. Jun didn't do it for me. He fell a little flat, where in the original anime he's energetic, dominant and pushy. Here he seems soft spoken, still energetic but not the same energetic. I don't know what it is but they are like two completely different people to me.
As for the plot: not great....
We started off strong. The biggest difference between this live adaptation and the anime is the fact that Jun didn't sexually assault Akin which I'm so glad for. I couldn't finish the anime because of that fact. But I didn't like how Akin was always in pain and suffering, even willing to be used by his manager because he was helpless.
Jun's and Akins relationship was a mess, they broke up and got back together at least a million times an episode, it didn't feel organic to me and Akin most definitely needed therapy especially since Johnny was walking unharmed after SA Akin made my blood boil. The grandma arc....oh god. I wasn't more bored in my entire life. I skipped through that very uninterested.
Overall not a bad series, so much better than other Thai BLS but is lacking in plot. I'm sure these actors could thrive in a well scripted series!

It's the bl of 2025!!!!
I sincerely believe it's the best BL of 2025! I am not saying this because of the nude scenes (although…damn!), I say it because the chemistry is insane, the plot is good, and the acting is superb!I simply love the way they act so naturally and give depth to the characters' emotions, so much so that you can feel immersed in the story!
I remember seeing somewhere on YouTube that "Top Form" is the live action no one asked for… I don't know why, but I hope that is no longer the case!
Now, the ML pairing… it came out of the blue, but I don't think there could have been a better match than this!

A show that actually captures a healthy relationship
I've watched a lot of BLs and I kid you not when I say this is by far the best depiction of a healthy relationship that I have ever seen. There wasn't a long time between solving issues between the two and nothing got in the way of them being together. Its hard to describe just how amazing this show is. I am genuinely so impressed by it. These two actors did a fantastic job with everything, the body language the communication, the chemistry, nothing missed a beat. The only reason I gave the story a 9.5 instead of a 10 is because of the sasenge part of it. I honestly felt like the didn't depict it correctly. It's a sensitive topic since it is such a problem these days. This subject is not to be taken lightly theses people are scary and can harm these celebrities in such a way where they don't feel safe anymore. So the scene with him forgiving her , tho it was a sweet gesture, is not accurate in my opinion.
This is such a rewatchable show and if you havent watched it you need to jump on it because it is amazing

Other should take note this is the best anime live adaption for God sake!
Perfection! I was amazed by the casting, and all the staff behind this series, and love the Japanize cinematography. ''Top Form The Series'' gave me life. Boom Raweewit Jiraphongkanon, my "The Sexiest Man of the Year" right now! I love you so much I was not expecting my masculine and hot bl actor from Chains of Heart to be in his baby girl era. You are the best! If only I can give you multiple awards for your talent. I would've done that! You are so cute. As far as I know, I don't want to see you cry because I ended up crying too.Was this review helpful to you?
