TOP FORM: The quiet ache behind the camera.

Some BL dramas go for instant heat.
Top Form chooses a slow simmer—the kind that lingers long after the final frame fades to black.

Adapted from the Japanese manga Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu, this Thai reinterpretation steps out of the shadow of its source and quietly becomes its own. Not louder. Just deeper.

Set in the entertainment industry, the series follows two actors on seemingly opposite paths—one seasoned and guarded, the other rising and relentless. But this isn’t just a story about competition. Or desire. Or fame.

It’s about presence.

The beauty of Top Form lies in its restraint.
In the way it lingers on glances.
In the pauses between lines.
In the weight of words unsaid.

Yes, there are steamy moments—well-crafted, cinematic, and buzzworthy. But what makes this series extraordinary is what it doesn’t show off. It trusts the viewer. It trusts the silence. And it trusts its cast—especially Boom and Smart—to hold the emotional weight with breathtaking nuance.

The cinematography is elegant without ever being fussy.
The writing is romantic without being sentimental.
And the direction carries just enough edge to keep it grounded in reality, rather than fantasy.

What’s most striking is how Top Form captures something very now:
the longing for connection in a world that constantly demands performance.
And the courage it takes to love when nothing—especially not yourself—feels entirely safe.

This isn’t just a story of two men falling in love.
It’s a story of two people learning how to stay.

And if you’ve ever needed a reminder that quiet love can still roar—
Top Form is the kind of series that leaves its echo with you.

Even after the screen goes dark.

I’ve been waiting for forever!!!!!

Omg, I literally remember watching the anime adaptation and the manga like so many years ago! I was soooooo happy that there was finally a live adaptation because I’ve been waiting for this to get enough attention for a live action for soooo long! Also, so far it hasn’t disappointed me at all, the acting is so good in this live action and the actors pulling off this story just takes me back to when I watched the anime and read the manga. It makes me really sentimental and each episode so far has always made me feel something that really pulls the audience in and connects them with the characters. Also, I always can’t wait for the next episode to come out, which isn’t a usual reaction for me. I always find it really hard to get so addicted to a series that I genuinely am so excited to watch every week when the next episode comes out, but with this show I can’t not watch it. So when it comes to wanting to find a really good series to watch, I really recommend this one 😊💜

TOP FORMAT: A distant Black Cat finds shelter in a Puppy´s Warmth

WeTv hasn´t let us down with TOP FORM, especially in unwrapping the layers of emotions connected to such a heart-wrenching love story. Moreover, the on-screen chemistry between the actors is nothing short of electric. Portraying well-crafted, consistent characters, P´Boom and P´Smarts bring to life a vulnerable yet vibrant romance that stands as one of the most captivating I've ever seen. Their performances are a true gift, making "TOP FORM" a must-watch.

Initially, I harbored doubts about the series. Given the numerous shows already exploring the movie industry and the trials of showbiz, I wondered how "TOP FORM" could distinguish itself. However, the vision realized by the writers and directors is simply breathtaking, both visually and emotionally. I can't recall the last time a character, like Akin, especially in Episode 10, tugged at my heartstrings so forcefully: capturing such raw, intense emotions repeatedly is proof of TOP FORMs excellence.
P´Boom has brought his character, with all of his complexities and flaws, to life and made him a star to the audience. He left by far the biggest impact on me, as the character's struggles and fears were expressed in such a remarkable performance. The portrayal of Jin by P´Smarts was also top-notch; his movements never felt exaggerated or misplaced.
I also enjoyed the performance of the supporting cast, such as the mysterious character Jade and the cunning Johnny, who fell victim to the showbiz. I could go on and on, it´s that good ...

Minor Shortcomings: That being said, there are a few minor aspects of the story, perhaps related to the original manga, that left me wanting more. Some plot points could have benefited from further explanation or emphasis.

The Editors were in TOP FORM when editing TOP FORM:
Let´s also talk about the cinematography and editing of "TOP FORM", which I haven´t done in other reviews for a long time, because there seemed to be a consistent level of cinematography, to my eye at least. BUT, if we take out the scenes in costume, this series has TOPped the level that other series have reached, by a lot. Especially the creativity in editing and coloring has satisfied my aesthetic eye on a level I can´t comprehend. This isn't just about the NC scenes; it's about the entire palette of emotions conveyed through color, the vividness of each frame, and the meticulous selection of filming locations. I feel fortunate to have witnessed such a masterpiece in 2025. GIVE THE EDITORS an award or raise or something, please!

The choice of music and original soundtracks in the series is also worth special mention. The music seamlessly complements every scene, enhancing the emotional resonance without ever feeling out of place. In the context of Thai series, where this wasn´t always the case - sometimes you had the most goofy background music for emotional scenes, this achievement is truly remarkable. So that´s TOP notch again.

Overall, I count myself lucky to have been part of the audience of "TOP FORM". It's an experience I don´t take for granted, and I wholeheartedly recommend this series, hoping that others will be as enchanted by it as I have been.

Top Form is a mess of missed opportunities. (hated the casting)

Top Form is a mess of missed opportunities. The series had the potential to deliver something compelling, but it ultimately falters on almost every front, leaving audiences with a flat, unsatisfying experience.

Let’s start with the glaring issue: the writing. The script does a huge disservice to both the characters and the actors, and that’s a shame because the main leads clearly have fantastic chemistry. However, that chemistry can only carry a series so far when the plot is this weak and the character development nonexistent.

The narrative is a trainwreck of inconsistency and missed chances. Serious crimes are casually brushed off, with no repercussions whatsoever. The show depicts attempted sexual assault, drugging, and even filming someone while unconscious—issues that should be handled with care, but instead are swept under the rug as if they're nothing more than plot devices to fuel cheap drama. There’s no sense of justice or accountability for these actions. The lack of real consequences leaves the show feeling tone-deaf and irresponsible, especially in a genre that can have such a profound impact on its audience.

As for the characters, they’re paper-thin. The so-called *seasoned* actor introduced in the first episode is reduced to a shell of a person, completely stripped of the confident, successful traits promised early on. Instead, his reactions to major life events (like the ones mentioned above) are completely out of place and unrealistic. His character arc doesn’t evolve—if anything, he just falls flat.

The romance, which should have been the heart of the series, is poorly executed. The buildup to the relationship is awkward, forced, and lacks any emotional weight. The show spends too much time on pointless drama and not enough on creating an authentic connection between the two leads. Even after they finally get together, their relationship doesn’t feel earned—it’s rushed, underdeveloped, and lacks the depth it needs to be compelling.

Unless the production team plans to clean up this mess in a second season (which seems unlikely), *Top Form* has absolutely no rewatch value. It’s a series that promises so much but delivers so little, leaving you questioning whether the time you spent watching was even worth it. Overall, it’s a failure in almost every sense, and definitely not worth your time if you're looking for a thoughtful, well-rounded BL experience.

chatgpt can right better story....

to be honest Thailand is still weak in drama you will fell like you are watching drama form 2005 or YouTube show, the writing is one of worst thing i ever saw, that couple of episode i finish them in like 10 minutes because nothing is happening, you can know what will happen from episode one because they follow the most basic form in romance, lets say it clearly most of Thailand shows were about straight relation no one will rate them high, this show got a high ranking only because its about gay romance.

Top Form: Intimacy Without Nudity, Rebellion Without Rage

Most people think intimacy means skin.
But Top Form dares to disagree.

Smart and Boom (as Jin and Akin) show us that sometimes, the most naked you’ll ever be… is emotionally. Fully clothed, yet utterly exposed. No awkward stripping scene required — because they undress each other’s fears instead.

They’re not just lovers.
They’re each other’s fortresses.
They are safe zones with strong arms and open hearts. Their worries? Only for each other. Their fears? Always the thought of losing the other.

And in an industry where vulnerability is taboo and intimacy is something to be hinted at with a dim light and jazz music… their existence is both a rebellion and revelation. They stay. They love. They soften. They protect.

And somewhere along the way, even their rivals turn into shippers.

Let that sink in.

When Top Form ends, people might remember the NC scenes (and they will), but me?
I’ll remember the moments that whispered.
A glance across the room.
A shoulder leaned on after a near loss.
A heartbeat loud enough to drown a crowd.

Every episode made me giggle, blush, and occasionally cover my face like I was intruding on something too real to watch and too beautiful to stop.
It’s the kind of love you envy — and wish you had.

Final Thoughts?
This isn’t just a BL.
This is quiet defiance in the form of devotion.
It’s about a love that doesn’t scream to be seen, because it already knows it’s strong.

Jin and Akin aren’t just in “top form” — they’re redefining what love looks like when it's built on security, softness, and solidarity.

And honestly? That’s legendary.

I Rated It a 10 — Despite the Risk
I usually don’t rate shows while they’re still airing.
Last Twilight taught me why.
Those who watched episodes 11 and 12 know exactly what I mean — it went from a solid 10 to a 9 in just two episodes.

But Top Form?
I still gave it a 10.
Despite my hesitation.
Despite my fear that it could stumble in the final stretch.

Because what it’s given me so far — the softness, the strength, the emotional nudity — deserves it.

I just hope it stays in Top Form. That comes from both hope and my brave BL heart.

JinAkin THE BEST couple ever

I just got crazy about this series, I can't wait what will be next... I like every scene... And what an incredible couple OMG!!! This insane chemistry, the way they look at each other, they don't need words to communicate, you can feel all emotions through the screen... Their relationship seems so real, natural and sweet, this is really beautiful, I couldn't resist and watched some scenes several times, I'm addicted to this series, just can't stop watching. :)))

top form series loved itttt?

Iam an diehard dakaichi fan i have watched the series many times i think maybe 25 timea i really lived the chemistry between takato and junta. What an adaptation of the Dakaichi story, filled with both classic moments from the IPs and many new and interesting scenes expanding on the original story.
The casting team or the full team of top form clearly and efficiently created the dakaichi series into this amzing action series.
Boom is the standout in the story portraying Akin(Takato) you truly truly believed that he is the number 1 actor. Boom is an amazing actor he perfectly acted as saijo. Boom expression really touched my heart his acting is really amazing i don't knowhow to express it through my words its really really amazing ❤️ smart also did a great job bringing alot of depths to Junta character. He created an good flow in the series his facial expression are exact like junta that perverted angel face i really love that chuntaaa.

The cinematography is top notch with strong song and music choices, truly feels the quality and care the team put in.

Overall very looking forwards to watching more of what they have to offer. Really loved the series right know iam overjoyed by the series episodes all other characters acted welll i really love their chemistry i really expect more series of them.

Form Not Quite On Top

An adaptation of the popular Japanese manga 𝘿𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙞, 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 aspires to dissect the realities of Thailand’s entertainment industry but delivers a disjointed and underwhelming narrative, ultimately sabotaged by its reliance on tired tropes, shallow thematic engagement, and weakly drawn characters. While "𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗺" 𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘁 𝗝𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻 delivers a standout performance that injects rare emotional depth, most of the cast is left navigating a script marred by stilted dialogue, uneven pacing, and ethical missteps—including the troubling normalization of sexual assault without consequence.

The central romance, initially inert, gains modest traction in the latter half as chemistry belatedly develops, yet these gains are undermined by the infantilization of characters, poor representation of feminine gay men, and squandered dramatic potential. With sporadically impressive cinematography and a premise that hints at industry critique, Top Form had the scaffolding of significance—but settles, disappointingly, for mediocrity.

Mixed But Ultimately Disappointing Bag

A very mixed and disappointing bag. Let me start with the good.

1. I LOVED the acting. The main actors are absolutely lovely, both in their roles and out. Picked from relative obscurity, this show could not have found two more perfect people to play these roles. And I find myself enjoying watching their promo videos and fan videos of them far more than the actual drama.

2. The intimacy between the main characters. And no, I don’t just mean the sex. In fact, although I know everybody loves the honey scene, sploshing is just not my kink. And neither is wet clothing. Sensory nightmares for me. What I mean is the interactions between the main characters as they navigate and build their relationship, especially when it’s just them alone.

3. The music. There was one Korean song in particular that I actually added to my playlist, it was so pretty. I also liked the use of classical-style instrumental music. Much better than some of the computerized synth music they use in other dramas.

Now let’s talk about the in between.

1. The cinematography. I loved the way they used lighting in this, and some of the close ups and the creative shots are gorgeous. But there was also some weird shaky cam work that I didn’t enjoy, and also some weird framing that tipped over my line into unnecessarily abstract/artsy. But that’s likely just a personal preference.

2. Like I said, the NC scenes. Excellent intimacy and acting in them, but a couple sensory nightmares.

And the bad.

1. I don’t watch dramas to be devastated or melancholy. I have never understood why people enjoy this. Life is hard and sad and stressful enough without making myself sadder with the media I consume. This show, while there were some truly lovely, bright moments, was overall so saccharinely melancholy that it made me feel just generally icky. The biggest example of this is the episode near-ish the end where Akin spends nearly 30 whole minutes of it crying over the death of his grandmother. Yes, it’s very sad to lose someone so close to you. A real person would likely spend far more time crying and grieving. But this is a show. He reads the last letter he wrote to her and cries the whole time, then he reads her last letter to him and cries, then dreams about her and cries, and cries and cries… It’s so drawn out, I couldn’t even feel anything after a while. I just ended up skimming it. I shouldn’t feel like I need to skim through such pivotal moments for the characters.

2. Jin was honestly a bit of a creep. Like, I understand watching through the body of someone’s work in order to better learn your craft from them, but while that’s what he claimed to be doing, it came across more like he was digitally stalking Akin while also kind of forcing his presence on him irl and trying to better his craft so that he could be more “on his level” and thus be with him. His only character trait seemed to be being obsessed with Akin, which didn’t sit well with me. I don’t even know if he actually likes acting since it seemed like he’d probably be fine with giving it up if it meant he could be with Akin.

3. This is a little random and nitpicky, but I really despised Jin’s hair. It was in his eyes more than 90% of the time, which not only bothers me in a “isn’t that poking him in the eyes???” way, but it also means that Smart’s acting was impeded by his hair. Emotion is partly in the eyes, so if we can’t see his eyes, we lose access to some of his emotions. So this did not help the issue I had with feeling like his character did not have much personality other than being obsessed with Akin.

4. Why the heck would anybody with as much good sense and acting chops as Akin try to dramatically throw himself off a building just because he lost a “sexiest man of the year” award? I understood what they were going for. They were trying to show that Akin is getting older and getting passed over for the next big, upcoming, young star, and he’s feeling old and thrown away by the industry he loves and has staked his career, his life, and his self-worth on. But really, “sexiest man of the year”? I can see a major acting award doing this, but like, I didn’t see Akin as being that shallow before this…

5. Apart from all my personal feelings about the characters, the tone, and etc., the biggest nail in the coffin for me with this show is the sexual assault that was treated like a character cheated, except don’t worry because he didn’t… There is a situation where Akin gets stumblingly, passing out drunk around another actor he’s in a play with, and this actor takes him back to his place and tries to have sex with him. Akin is IN NO WAY ABLE TO CONSENT TO ANY OF THIS. Eventually, Akin starts mumbling Jin’s name and the other guy decides not to have sex with him and instead leaves hickies all over his body just to mess with him. Akin wakes up the next morning, thinks he cheated on Jin, and breaks up with him over it. Eventually, Jin gets a recording of the actor saying he didn’t ACTUALLY have sex with him, and all is well again. BUT EVEN IF AKIN DID HAVE SEX WITH THAT ACTOR, IT WOULD NOT BE CHEATING. IT WOULD BE RAPE. Because, like I said, HE VERY MUCH COULD NOT CONSENT. As it is, leaving hickies all over a passed out person’s body is definitely some flavor of sexual assault. But the show NEVER treats this like a rape situation, instead treating it like a cheating situation, and that’s just messed up.

So. While there were some bright, lovely moments in this show, there were also so many things that I just really did not enjoy and one major stain on the quality of this show that means I can’t get behind it. But I truly do wish these actors well and will follow their works in the future.
