Loved the female lead already!

I loved how cunning, bold, and confident our lead is. She doesn’t take 'no' for an answer and is determined to cut her way through and upward. That’s exactly what she did with her choice to chase the Grand Prince as her husband—proposing to him herself was the boldest and most ambitious move she could have chosen. And she will probably succeed, because the Prince has been intrigued by her ever since that night in the archery field at school years ago.

I believe this will be a very interesting watch!

OOOH SHE BAD AND SHE KNOW IT

Huiju is the second, illegitimate daughter of an elite businessman, who wants his daughter to marry, although only provides her with lower ranking men compared to her. So now she decides the only one who is most competent to be her husband, is yian, the crown prince and reagent of yiyun, his niece and the 8-year old king of modern korea, and yian’s parents died and his brother died afterwards as well, from a fire, that caused young yiyun to become king. At yiyun’s birthday banquet, a fire had occurred which caused his sister in law, yirang, to slap him thinking he was the one who caused the fire, especially when her husband died from a fire. This causes the media to catch on to this, along with the fact that yian had worn a hunting outfit, although a nice looking fit, did not match the royal rules, which caused the media to write articles on it. So the next day yirang insincerely apologises, although ridicules him, for taking the spotlight from yiyun, the TRUE king, although he explained that he couldn’t avoid the spotlight as he was the reagent, causing yirang to bring up the matter that yian was unmarried and that he should marry a woman that she picks. And so huiju, a junior alumni to yian, who both graduated from the same school (even called him obnoxious since he got special treatment at school, but during that time yian was impressed as huiju was able to speak her mind in front of him, regardless of if he was the crown prince or not) decides to propose to yian, despite the scrutiny he was facing from the media for his hunting outfit, and as he hid from the public in his private residence, he accepted and allowed huiju to visit him and this is when she proposes to him.

The pilot

Episode 1 of Perfect Crown is a strong and captivating start it introduces a bold, ambitious female lead and a calm, intriguing male lead with a perfect contrast. The setup feels fresh and instantly engaging. And that viral palace bridge scene with the fireworks? The way they just exchanged glances no words, just pure tension was absolutely stunning and already iconic.

Strong Start

Wonderful Pilot episode. The word of mouth so far has not been great among certain section of fandom, as either they are jealous of the pairing or perhaps since the story is regarding the modern monarch, so maybe Korean netizens aren't able to digest the fiction. But for me it's all worth the hype.Great casting so far, even the actors in small guest roles leave remarkable impact. So far good performances, IU is the standout in this episode. But I see Queen Mother as a great performer too.Looking forward to next episode.

Didn't expect such a believable fantasy

the whole modern day monarch thing sounded hokey. But it looks lush and believable from the very start.

I liked this first ep. I am so here for the romance. IU is great. I love the relationship her character has with her secrteaty. Very funny scenes.Quote of the episode:I'm simply looking for someone who matches my current station, That's all! He doesn't need to be super impressive just someone of my capabilities, my means and beauty! Is that too much to ask?My answer: IT IS NOT!!

Ended on a great scene

About halfway through the episode I was a bit worried. But IU's acting when she was focused on finding him to enact her plan took me quickly to the RomCom feel I was looking for. The final scenes of this episode pulled me right in. The chemistry was wonderful and I am looking forward to their antics now.

This episode made me fall in love with K-drama again!

The first episode of Perfect Crown pulled me out of my K-drama slump. I haven't finished an episode of a K-drama since 2024, I'm mostly drawn to C-dramas these days, but my gosh, this show made me remember the joy of watching a K-Drama. The fun, fresh, and exciting feeling dramas 2015-2020 produce is present is this episode (and the next, actually).

The first meeting between the leads, their first scene together made me slap my bed and kick my legs—the ultimate sign of a great chemistry and romance. Who knew that asking someone who their name and affiliation are is giddy-worthy? Also, that damn smirk after Grand Prince I-An made it known to us that Seong Hui Ju is a junior of his... arghhh! I just know this foreshadows that he liked her back in their academy days. I also noticed that he used the exact same words in their first meeting as adults as he did when they first met in school.

I am not shy to admit that I dreamt of this drama and that I watched episode one and two again when I woke up. It's bittersweet to be back in the torturous days of waiting for the next episode.

Episode 1

Funny and humorous at times, the cinematography is great. The acting is good but unnecessarily comedic, and a lot of IU's acting felt like Manwol from Hotel de Luna. The episode felt like it was for dragging for time and more context could have been added for a pilot episode, and the ending was not intriguing enough.

Crowned By Chemistry But Ruled By The Tension

Perfect Crown already feels like one of those dramas people will either obsess over or complain about every week, but still never stop watching. The whole modern monarchy and chaebol marriage contract plot sounds dramatic in the best way possible and honestly, IU and Byeon Woo Seok already look too good together for this drama to fail completely.IU looks perfect as Seong Hui Ju because she has that cold but emotional vibe that makes you want to understand her more. She feels like someone who has everything except the one thing she really wants. Byeon Woo Seok as Prince I-an looks soft, lonely and kind of trapped in his own life, which is exactly the type of character he does best. Their chemistry already feels strong from the teasers alone and the tension between them looks like it will carry the whole drama. The story itself gives old-school royal romance vibes, kind of like modern royalty dramas mixed with chaebol family fights, power struggles and contract marriage chaos. It feels like the type of drama that will have pretty visuals, emotional scenes, jealous second leads and those moments where you know they are in love before they admit it.I feel like Perfect Crown could become one of the biggest romance dramas of this year if the writing stays strong. Even people who were unsure after the trailer are still curious because the cast and storyline are too interesting to ignore. It already has that “everyone will be talking about it after every episode” energy.

Joseon in the 21st century

I enjoyed watching this episode. The story is building on a promising premise. The characters were introduced properly setting the tone for their roles in the upcoming episodes. I enjoyed the acting of Gong Seung Yeon, the King's mother, her eyes were so captivating. As the drama is based on a fictional world, an overlap between Joseon and Korea, the setting reflects this. They tried to blend the surroundings with this theme, however, it fell short in my eyes. The tea sets in particular, could have been more closer to ancient sets, as drinking tea is an old tradition, however in the drama they used British like tea cups.

Solid first episode

Fir the first episode it was nice, properly introduced us to our main and side characters and we already have a banter if chemistry for our leads. I can see why some people saw it wasn't too engaging but it's also the first episode so not much can be done. I personally liked it the sets and materials were giving very much high top notch budget and quality. I also really liked the ost soundtrack for our theme song really nice . I usually don't like it when the put 30 year olds in high school uniforms but our main charcters looked young enough. Overrall solid episode can't wait for more to come
