This series came in strong and instantly set the bar high. After two years, seeing Poom and Up reunite feels like a full circle moment, and they return with something that feels fresh, grounded, and genuinely engaging. From the very first episodes, the show pulls you into its world with a sense of realism that makes the story feel alive rather than overly polished or artificial.
What stands out most is how natural everything feels. The setting, the struggles, and the emotions all come across as believable without trying too hard. There is a perfect balance between intensity and lighter moments, with just enough action and tension to keep things exciting while still allowing space for warmth and character growth. Nothing feels forced or cringey, which is honestly rare.

What I especially love is how well the series balances its many different elements. It moves effortlessly between police investigations, fight scenes, criminal cases, the bar setting, hosting, male stripping, and family life without ever feeling cluttered or losing focus. Every aspect serves a purpose and adds something meaningful to the story. The family moments are especially memorable, with Singto easily becoming one of the highlights of the series. Watching Wayu as a devoted dad and Krit embrace his role as Papa brings so much heart and warmth to the show. Their little family is incredibly sweet, and those moments provide the perfect emotional balance to the more intense parts of the story.

Poom brings a quiet strength to Wayu that makes him incredibly easy to root for. You can feel his determination and emotional depth without it being overplayed. Up, on the other hand, nails the guarded and distant nature of Krit while still letting subtle vulnerability slip through. Watching that emotional wall slowly shift is one of the most satisfying parts of the show.
And the chemistry is undeniable. It is not just about big dramatic moments but also the small, intimate details that make their connection feel real. A glance, a smile, a simple gesture carries so much weight. Those s ofter scenes are what truly make the relationship shine and pull you in emotionally.

What makes this series special is how it respects its characters. There is no unnecessary judgment or exaggerated conflict just for drama. Instead, it focuses on connection, growth, and the quiet ways people change each other’s lives.
This is easily one of the strongest Thai BLs this year. It is heartfelt, engaging, and beautifully acted, with a story that already feels meaningful

Love of Silom — A Great Premise Undermined by an Ending That Tried Too Hard to Please Everyone

Love of Silom had everything I usually look for in a mature BL. A darker setting, morally complicated characters, and a romance developing in a world where nothing comes easily. For most of the series, I was genuinely invested. Then the final episodes arrived, and instead of feeling satisfied, I felt betrayed by the writing.

The story itself is solid. Setting the romance against the backdrop of Bangkok's nightlife and the escort world immediately creates higher stakes than the average university romance. The characters constantly have difficult choices to make, and for a long time the series isn't afraid to show that every decision has consequences. That's exactly why I expected the ending to remain consistent with everything that came before it.

Instead, the script suddenly becomes far too generous.

The father changes his mind much too easily. The villains are caught with surprising convenience. The inevitable betrayal unfolds exactly as expected, and before I knew it, almost every important problem had been neatly resolved. After spending the entire series building a harsh and realistic world, the drama suddenly delivers an ending where almost everyone receives exactly what they wanted. It felt less like the natural conclusion of the story and more like fan service designed to avoid upsetting the audience.

That's what frustrated me the most.

I actually respect dramas that stay true to their own story, even if the ending hurts. Jack & Joker is a perfect example. Whether viewers agreed with its conclusion or not, it remained faithful to the world it had created. Love of Silom, on the other hand, seems afraid to accept the consequences of its own narrative. Personally, I think the series would have been much stronger with a bittersweet ending—or even a tragic one—rather than trying to satisfy everyone.

My other major issue remains Up Poompat.

I know many viewers enjoy his performances, but I've never been able to connect with his acting style. I already felt this while watching My Stand-In, and unfortunately nothing changed here. To me, his movements often feel stiff, his emotions restrained to the point of seeming uncomfortable, and I constantly have the impression that he's thinking about acting rather than simply living the character. That's entirely my personal impression, but it prevents me from fully believing his performances.

The contrast with Poom Phuripan is enormous.

Poom throws himself into every scene with incredible commitment. Whether he's angry, vulnerable, or deeply in love, I always know exactly what his character is feeling. Watching him beside Up only made the imbalance more noticeable. One actor seems to give everything, while the other often feels emotionally distant. Because a romance depends on both leads convincing me equally, I struggled to fully invest in the relationship.

The production itself deserves praise. The atmosphere is convincing, the cinematography suits the darker tone perfectly, and the series looks consistently polished from beginning to end. Technically, there's very little to criticise. My disappointment comes almost entirely from the storytelling and the imbalance I personally felt between the two leads.

Final Thought

Love of Silom could have been a very good mature BL if it had trusted its own story until the end. The setting, the premise, and much of the story were exactly what I was hoping for. Unfortunately, the ending chose fan service over narrative consistency, and that decision weakened everything the series had built beforehand. Combined with an acting performance I still couldn't connect with, I finished the drama feeling more frustrated than satisfied. I know many viewers gave it a perfect score, but for me, this is one of those rare cases where I simply couldn't follow the majority.

UpPoom are just delightful

I loved this, I loved my stand in, but I think I love this more. The two of them are just fabulous chemistry. The story was entertaining. I thought all of the acting was very strong. But it’s the two of them that are just so much fun to watch they are delivering their scenes. They’re delivering their chemistry just a fun show and I really hope they keep making work together. The episode where they are broken up is really some of their best work, even though it’s a sad episode they are both really strong playing two people dealing with heartbreak. Just really, really enjoyed it.

A little bit of everything!

Love of Silom was a show that truly gave viewers a little bit of everything - drama, action, crime, romance, you name it! I really enjoyed how they managed to make two characters, each with clear motivations and fears, and find a way for their romance to work out so well in the context of a crime drama! While there may have been a few lulls/repetitive conflicts, overall this show was super fun to watch and I'd definitely recommend it.

Wayu (Poom) has worked as a bar host ever since dropping out of college to earn money to support his family. In need of more than just what the bar can bring in, his friend suggests sex work as a side gig. However, when the client wants more than Wayu wants to give, the night gets violent. Luckily, Krit (Up), a cop, is there to save the day. Wayu and Krit continue to meet up after their chance encounter, which comes in handy when Krit starts investigating a human trafficking case related to bar hosts. Krit then has to grapple with his developing feelings for Wayu, his ability to work on a case where Wayu may be in danger, and the pressure his family is putting on him to marry the woman they have chosen for him.

I really enjoyed the crime romance aspects of this show! The investigation was really well done (though it could have gotten a little more screen time in my opinion) and I really enjoyed Krit being torn between getting information from Wayu and keeping him out of danger when the two options are mutually exclusive. I do think spending a little more time on this and a little less time on the whole arranged marriage plotline would have benefitted the show a little, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this one. Up and Poom did a great job portraying these character, and even when one of them made a decision that I wish they didn't, it always felt like it made sense for their character since the show had plenty of time to flesh them both out. If you're looking for a show with a little action, a little romance, a little investigation, and a little stripping, this one is definitely worth trying!

Better than I thought it would be~

I was a bit unsure exactly what this series would be like. WeTV is very hit or miss with their series, but I saw a fan edit of it that convinced me to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. This series does a great job balancing humor, drama, romance, and action. Unlike a lot of other Thai BLs out there that really struggle to evenly showcase each genre Love of Silom hit every note just right. Nothing felt out of place, the pacing was excellent, the actors did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. There also wasn't a side couple to divert away from the main romance plot instead there are only side characters and they're all phenomenal. Even the characters I didn't like were still fun to watch on screen. I 100% recommend giving this series a shot.
The few critiques I have for the show: I wish the brief period that Wayu worked as a police informant had been part of the plot more. He helps out for a couple episodes and then stops and everyone just pretends like it never happened. Admittedly I just really like action series so of course anything that plays more into that genre I'd prefer lol. The second critique is for the dances at the club, honestly they were kinda repetitive. I wish the choreographers had done a bit more and made the dances different from each other. Other than that I really liked this series, I thought it was great.

General info for anyone wanting to know:
• Is it spicy? Weirdly enough no. Despite being about bar hosts/club dancers the sex scenes were all pretty mild. There are a few scenes that show bondage and sex toys, but it never shows them being used (besides as impromptu weapons lmao). The most spice the series has are the dances at the club which are essentially strip teases.
• Is there violence? Yes. There are multiple fight scenes that are actually decently done and sometimes result in bloodshed, a few noncon moments, there are scenes depicting human trafficking, and honestly Krit's dad was a dick the whole series and the main instigator of the emotional damage inflicted on the main characters.
• Is there a love triangle? Yes, but also no. Lets just say that the main characters had multiple love interests but they only ever had eyes for each other. They were practically beating the love rivals away with a stick lol.

Also, if you like the bar host/club dancer aspect of the series I'd recommend checking out Toy Boy. It's a Spanish drama on Netflix. The main characters are also dancers and the series does a great job depicting the work that goes into being a club dancer ie learning choreography, working with different concepts, and being hired for events. Toy Boy is a lot darker and dramatic as the story centers around an sa and murder mystery plot and the BL plot line is for the side characters not the mc, but it's still a pretty good watch. The BL was super cute, the only reason I wanted to watch the series in the first place lol, so even though it's not the main focus it was still worth sitting through everything else to watch that relationship unfold.

Omnia vincit Amor!

Love of Silom has just ended with it's 12th episode. What we got was an unusual pairing, a police detective and a Gogo dance/host falling in love with each other, both with broken families. Besides their calmly growing love, we had a brutal human trafficing and murder case which threated both Captain Krit and his host boyfriend Wayu.

What was interesting was, how their different background both has family stuff to struggle. Krit, a tyrannical father who wanted to force his son into any profitable marriage entirely uncaring what Krit wanted or felt. He even threatend what he, as a Police General with his influence would do to Wayu, should Krit not cut tires. Tough stuff.

Seeing the scene of the Gogo/Host bar was one of my highlight, realistic or not, it was nice to see how Foei and the boys stuck together, and it was sad to see the only troublemaker found a horrible death just when he can come out to the good side. But it gave the show this gravitas, a lot can happen, even though we were sure the MC would not face drama, or at least I expected a good ending, the show gave a clear sense of danger, hostility and how the world is a dangerous place.
I know people critizised how Krit didn't resist his father, and I did so too. But this is Asia, and who knows if what I would have done would have been so much wiser.

I shall say something about the ending, because I... liked it. I didn't see the evil dad have a sudden turn out of the blue. Sure, it was shortened, but it took around 3 episodes, from the father seeing how Wayu was so desperate when Krit about about to die, with Krit in the end twice stating in no uncertain ways he would stick to Wayo no matter what, and yes the usual mother talking sense into the dad. Krit's father seeing what a respected student Wayu is and someone real.

But here is the thing. There is this story "Of the Lost Son" in the Old Testament, where the father, when the lost son comes homes is in tears and overjoyed and forfeits all anger, for the son is back. And here, here we have the Lost Father who finally turned. We could see hints of him struggling. In the near death moment of Krit, in the time after his wife talked clearly to him. And to be honest, I rather have a father who turns and yields in all things, than a revenge plot.

In the end, all where happy together, and is that not worth to say, alright, let's make this new start and let the past be the past and enjoy we have a big family, and Krit and Wayu married with all in the two families being united? I call that a win of love, and I rather have a father who finally yields and a good future than being eternally prisoner of the past. I know such people. It is not good. As such I found the last episode good, it made me feel happy and seeing the Dad doing the Gogo-Dancing with his cops in the after-scenes was just a nice fun, for an actor who always must play evil people, and maybe for that too I was glad to see him smile and be happy and everyone at peace together.

Amazing Storyline, Held My Interest from Start to Finish

I don’t know what else Thailand has for us this year but THIS ONE?!!! It is AMAZINGGGG.

OMG, reminded me of how much I miss watching great Thai BL shows like this one.

First of all, I love the boys sooooo much. The ML and MC just always have good chemistry together so we have that to thank for this show too.

I don’t want to say much to avoid spoiler but this is so so so so good. Acting is good, chemistry is solid, and plot is also great.

PLEASE WATCH IT!

EDIT - Just finished watching and I love it as much as I did when I started. To say I’m obsessed with this series would be an understatement. I AM OBSESSED WITH IT. It’s been amazing so far honestly. I have only positive things to say, the plot stayed interesting and consistent as the story unfolded and it held my attention from start to finish.

Almost perfect... until the end.

The beginning was perfect : a healthy relationship, built on trust, respect and setting boundaries that each partner knows to respect. I liked their dynamic, the way their status (a host and a police officer) did not restrain them from falling in love with each other ; The way they took the time to understand what they were both searching for in a relationship.

But, seriously, what was that end ??? Why did this perfect relationship turn into a generic story line we already saw a hundred times in 2015 ?

Krit was obsessed with Wayu. He did everything for him, tried to be the perfect man for a guy that was living through hard times. He was so invested in the relationship and was very public about it, even if he said he do not want to. But the next day, he turned into the biggest red flag you will ever see. The disrespect he gave Wayu is NOT romantic. And the worst ? They continue their relationship like it never ever happened.

I saw too many dramas like this ten years ago, so I'm not even taking points out for this. But if you hate miscommunication tropes or whatever toxic drama that can occur in a perfect relationship, this series is not for you, because the last four episodes will make you pull out your hair.

Much more well balanced than I expected!

I went in blind like I didn’t even look at the poster that deeply, I just saw an edit of a cute baby with 2 dads and I clicked play. Imagine my face when the show opens with a magic mike dance! But I think they balanced the realistic dangers and positives of a host, also the sad reality of parents pushing their children into it, with the horror of sex & human trafficking mixed into the story. But also portraying really good and supportive people in the industry that help those who really need money. Wayu is such a sweetheart that anyone will root for him. His outlook on life feels so real, but he’s also someone who falls in love quickly like in fairy tales. Krit is totally opposite, who has super tall walls due to his upbringing and job. I wish they focused more on the scrutiny he would endure as a policeman dating a former-host. I felt the story focused more on his family than society.
They gelled so well as characters as well as actors, the chemistry is there! But those long ass boxers under a sexy cat costume was a BIG NO! Come on Wayu!!!
Kinda bummed that Up played someone who doesn’t emote that much cuz his earlier work shows he can be SO expressive. But his action scenes were good! Wish we had more of his storyline.
The host bar storyline was amazing, I really liked all the characters and the dances were so so good!
The dad changing his mindset in the last epi felt rushed but him changing due to Singto felt so real cuz HOW CAN YOU HATE THAT CUTE LIL BABY 🥺 This show def has rewatch value, especially the first 3/4th. I ain’t rewatching that breakup scene (they acted so good but was it necessary?)
