Absolutely bonkers
Absolutely bonkers of a show and I am here for this -embrace the crazy. Would absolutely rewatch and recommend to anyone who likes a good fanfic. It's pretty much the best and worst parts of fanfic thrown into a visual medium. The chemistry between the leads feels almost too real. Super spicy but well done..Can we have some more? Was this review helpful to you?

Cringe
Well, it’s something fresh in cdramas, more intense and less innocent. If this would be adapted from novel, it would be novel written by 13y old.. A lot of things do not make sense, story is speed up and interactions are forced (she hang on a rope, empty space under her but she falls on the ground on him??). Although scenario is not bad, modern buildings etc, but this fake ass octopus made me laugh and I felt like watching indian drama, which is pretty lame. And one minute before this fake ass octopus they fall from the structure, falling on heart shaped balloons- how unrealistic and hilarious. I enjoy this as i’m a simple person and i like spicy things, but it’s cringe which is sad as the story has a potential. If you are inmature and haven’t red and watched good written stories you will happy. Was this review helpful to you?

This drama is one you need to let your imagination run wild with.
The premise is interesting and an alternate version of the omegaverse. They broaden the idea of “pheromone” to a virus that allows for more nuance to the relationships and the desire to be with one another, beyond their “innate” desire to be with the opposite type of the virus. The story is okay. As stated, the premise of the plot was interesting, but the progression of the story felt like background to the chemistry of the two main couples. At times, the story felt as if the writers knew that the chemistry would carry enough of the show to allow them to leave logic and development to the side at times. There were times where the writing was well done, especially when they allowed for a deeper understanding of the different motivations and characterizations of the main cast, besides the FL— we’ll get to that later. The ML was the character with the best writing. The show goes into detail about what makes him who he is and how he comes to terms with his trauma in relation to his love for the FL. Also, the man can kiss!!! The chemistry of the main couple was almost entirely carried by the ML.
What made my ranking go from an 8.5 to a 7.5 is the FL after her—spoiler alert— brother’s death.
When her brother died, I was very willing to understand how this would be conflicting for her and how it would affect her relationship with the ML. However, the writers did not do a good job of letting her articulate what she was feeling, even just to the audience. When you are expecting her to feel conflicted because her husband doesn't feel sad about her brother’s death, instead, they have her essentially blame the ML for her brother’s death. When you think they have to separate to allow her to come to terms with everything, she is the one who pushes to be closer to him — physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, because the writer spends no time developing the actual character of the FL, her reactions don’t make sense to the audience. Why is he reacting this way? Why is she quick to get angry and push people away, but also incredibly quick to forgive? Why does she seem so naive, yet she is written as smart, observant, and quick on the uptake? We don’t know. The FL is there to help the ML’s character shine through and be better understood by the audience, but is not written as a complete character herself.
So basically, don't take the drama too seriously. Enjoy the romance and the MANY kiss scenes and let the chemistry keep you entertained.

Fascinating. Crazy. Chemistry. Unpredictable.
I don't have words to describe this drama. The plot is so crazy and unpredictable. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts. And the acting is peak-especially considering some of the scenarios they have to go with!If you want an exciting, unpredictable sci-fi ride like nothing you've seen before, mixed with a whirlwind epic love story, this could be for you.
I initially watched this after watching Embrace in the Dark Night-which was AMAZING and had the same actress. If you watched that and are chasing great chemistry, this could be your follow up show.

As for talking about the drama, I also feel like Wu Nongyu never sincerely loved Xin Xu. Throughout the drama, it always felt like Xin Xu loved Wu Nongyu more deeply than she loved him. Their relationship didn’t feel emotionally balanced to me. Compared to them, Li Xian’s love for Si Yuan felt much more genuine and sincere. You could really feel her emotions and devotion, which made their relationship more believable and touching.
Also, after Si Yuan died, the story felt stretched out even more, and it lost some of its original impact for me. The pacing became slower, and it seemed like the drama didn’t know when to end.
As for the acting, it was decent but not especially powerful or memorable. Personally, I felt Si Yuan and his girlfriend gave a better performance than the main couple. Their emotions felt more natural and convincing, which made their scenes more impactful for me.
Overall, the drama had a strong idea and a good start, but the excessive length and repetitive storytelling weakened the experience for me.

Watched for the chemistry
As most of the reviewers have already said, the story is absolute bonkers and makes close to zero sense. However, CYX and FJ have AMAZING chemistry and all the kiss scenes are super hot so just watch it for that. I also love that Youku has kept up the promotions after it has ended which tells me the word of mouth is strong for this show. Was this review helpful to you?
WTF ? Super entertaining and unhinged !!! Worth it despite a flunked ending
This drama is simply a fever dream : a lot of ideas all meshed together in an unhinged way. If the last arc was a bit a downer, with the hero becoming too tame, all the road to get there was highly entertaining, and worth the wild ride the series take you on. Maybe the writer throw a bit too much on the paper for everything to stick, but it was for sure a memorable drama !!! I truly think that trying bold choices with sometimes mixed results is much better than producing a tepid and moderate already seen middle-of-the road show. The romance was central to the bonker plot, with some hot and gripping moments between the leads and a great secondary romance. Both had moments that took my breath away as well as brought me a lot of emotions. Overall the cast did a good job, even if the main actress could have done better at portraying some of the most emotional scenes.
Production value was a mixed bag, I wished the main roles had better haircut and makeup, and that the edit was less all over the place. The drama had seemingly quite a pretty limited budget, with some scenes that were so poorly excecuted that it was (unwantedly) funny. However, it was overall good enough to depicts most of the crazy ideas featured in the script and even impressed me at times.
I would recommend this to people that are looking for an unhinged and deeply entertaining hot romance. It is crazy and never boring, even if its last arc does not hold a candle to the remaining of the series because of the way the main relationship evolves, making it less exciting. Despite the production doing a commendable job at executing the bonker plot, I wish that they had a bigger budget because I would have love to see a more fully fleshed making of some of their ideas. I would also have loved to see the core concept of the series with the Ren / Yin relationship even more explored because of how interesting it was.

Bizarrely addictive
First: it's not a great drama. Let's be honest. But what is a great drama? I watched it. I liked it. I even wrote a review about it. This is a total guilty pleasure show. Don't expect an Oscar level screen play. If you want smexy kisses, obsessed male lead, and can overlook weird cgi and plot holes, this is the drama for you. I can honestly say: I've never seen anything like it - and I've been looking 😂Was this review helpful to you?

This Made No Sense - Still Watched Everything
Affinity (2026) is one of those dramas that leaves you wondering whether you actually like it or you're just watching out of pure curiosity. The premise is genuinely interesting: a seemingly normal world affected by a virus that divides people into different types with unstable and dependent behaviors. However, the execution is extremely inconsistent. At times, the story tries to be serious and intense, while in others it drifts into almost absurd territory (yes, including things like the octopus and dragon scenes that make little to no sense in context).
Character development is fairly weak, largely due to the short episode length, which makes the central relationship feel rushed. In the beginning, the romance is very physical and impulsive, sometimes even uncomfortable, with a possessive dynamic that can feel questionable. As the story progresses, though, their relationship becomes more balanced and emotionally grounded, improving the overall experience.
Despite its flaws, inconsistent tone, confusing worldbuilding, and some outright bizarre moments, the drama manages to stay engaging. Much of this comes from the chemistry between the leads, which helps carry the story even when the plot falls apart.
In the end, Affinity is a flawed, sometimes cringe and absurd drama, but somehow more entertaining than other shows that should have been better. It’s not memorable for its quality, but definitely for its weirdness.

Completely Mental
This is one of the craziest stories I have ever seen in my life.Don't expect logic, a coherent plot or normal behaviour from any character (or animal).
But if you can get past some red flags in relationships and don't take anything seriously, it's actually quite captivating. Try to guess when the next ridiculous thing will happen.
It's like a disaster you can't look away from and I kinda feel guilty for having watched this, but I also enjoyed every single second. 😂

Make it Omegaverse but more awkward
I genuinely had to stop using my brain and watch it like it was a comedy drama. I started watching it 3 times and stop before deciding to continue and finish the series after watching TikTok of the hot scenes. They do kiss, quite nicely and almost entire series like if the episode is 18 minutes and it takes almost 10 minutes of kissing. I don't really complain cause ML has this seductive looking eyes and he knows how to use them. I liked FL after their 2 year apart. She had more character i believe. I cracked the second i saw the dragon and the octopus. Never in my 24 years old life i would have imagine omegaverse type of shit happening in this type of sci-fi scenario. The ending was all of the place as well, but hey if they are happy so we are.I can't forget the octopus scenes, whoever thought about it in the first place is a genius.

My goodness... What did I just watch....and most importantly... WHY DID I JUST WATCH???? If you take a hot obsessed toxic bad boy ml,sweet naive sometimes dumb fl,twists after twists, and plotholes after plotholes, some cliche villains, time travels, dream sequences, self sacrifices, good second ml,plastic surgery,a whole ahh dragon.......and some really hot kisses with lame af ending and mix them all with some mashrum drugs or hallucinogens.....the thing you get is this drama,Affinity!!!
The whole thing was so bizzarre,it became actually enjoyable at some point. They're really clever to put that Helium thing in the end, otherwise it would become a comedy sketch rather than a hot show.
Lead couple was good, especially the ml.His character development was really evident from the beginning towards the end. But storywriter was on crack most probably.
