K-Drama
Both "Dead-End Job" and "Squid Game" serve as bleak allegories for modern hyper-capitalism, forcing financially desperate protagonists to accept absurdly high-paying opportunities that quickly turn into life-threatening traps. While "Squid Game" pits individuals against one another in a brutal battle-royale competition styled after children's games, "Dead-End Job" frames its horror around performative corporate exploitation, sending employees into eerie, supernatural assignments where surviving the workday is the ultimate objective. Both series critique how societal inequality drives marginalized people to risk their lives for survival, though they differ in format—one relying on deadly social competition and the other on uncanny, occupational horror.
Light Shop and Dead End Job aren't really similar story-wise, but they somehow have the same vibe. Both turn very ordinary places and everyday people into something supernatural and mysterious, where you don't immediately understand what's actually going on. They also have that separate stories but somehow connected feeling that makes you keep watching just to see how everything comes together.
Hyeok Jun takes the job because he's drowning in debt and sees no way out same driving force behind Liar Game's protagonist, who gets pulled into a dangerous game out of financial desperation. Both characters realize way too late that the system they walked into is far bigger and far more dangerous than it ever let on.
Nothing really similar but just give off same vibes. They both have a convenience store setting but trouble exists outside of the convinience store. Both are male centered mystery dramas, and the MLs encounter difficulties and challenges and life changing event when they were living ordinary lives before.
VERY VERY SIMILAR
this is not just some biased rec; that's nothing like the actual show.
Eight severely indebted people take part in a weird game that changes their lives forever. The rules seem simple; spend time and survive in order to earn a huge amount of money... but in reality, it turns out to be much harsher than it seemed at first.
