dmd finally making good shows

i am an absolute sucker for basic, simple, just fun and cute university dramas—so clearly this is right up my alley. BUT if you want a complex and interesting story this obviously isn’t the bl for you.

things i like:
- the classic grumpy x sunshine trope
- how unique duang’s personality is without being over the top + he doesn’t act like an actual child despite being silly
- the supporting cast are all very natural and they seem like actual, comfortable friends
- ost is so catchy i’ve been singing it for a whole month
- plot is easy to follow without being boring
- the acting is very good considering this is most of the cast’s first or one of their first projects
- the fun sound effects
- honestly everything TT

things i dislike:
- there is some cringe moments where i seriously had to pause and take a breather…

anyways this is just the fluffiest and sweetest drama and teeteepor are just so cute and attractive together!!!!!

You're My Cup Of Tee!

I don't really write reviews here, but this drama really made me wanna write one!

Let me start off by saying that I don't even watch Thai BLs. I only started watching DWY a few days ago, and this is literally my first time watching a thai bl. So, my thoughts are as unbiased as it gets.

Long story short :
A few days ago I randomly decided to watch a thai bl drama, and now my whole brain chemistry has been altered. The couple now have me on a chokehold, and this drama has become one of my most favorite dramas ever (BL or non BLs alike)!!

Long story long :
I've been seeing the poster of this drama on the homepage of the website I usually watch my dramas at. After ep10 came out and I saw it pop up on my feed again, I got curious about it and decided to look it up. Once I did, I was very surprised at how high the ratings were. It made me wonder if this drama really is something deserving of such high ratings, or if this is just some overrated drama rated by crazy fanatics. (no offense😭)

So I decided to give it a shot and see what the hype is all about. FYI, until that moment I knew NOTHING about this drama, or any other thai bls whatsoever. The only thing I knew was the name. I knew nothing about the actors, never saw any clips or anything. I was entering with a very blank slate.

I started watching with pretty low expectations. In fact, I didn't even think I would like this, because this wasn't really my cup of tea. As I was watching the first episode, I kept thinking how this is reallyyyy not my cup of tea. Duang's overly cute acting, the sound effects, etc was pretty much borderline cringe to me. But I wanted to watch at least 1-2 episodes before I decide whether or not I wanna continue or drop it.

I tried to tune out the cringe factors tried my best to focus on the drama. Once I was able to get over the initial cringing, I was sucked into duangqin's universe pretty fast. Next thing I know, I had already finished binging all 10 episodes!

And then I was losing my mind for ep11, which was still 3-4 days away. The wait was KILLLING MEEE!! Over the few days I kept replaying my favorite scenes, trying to keep myself sane. I swear I have not been this desperate for a drama episode in YEARS!! I don't even remember the last time a drama made me feel THIS desperate (and I've been watching them for almost a decade now).

So, that should tell you how much of a hold this drama had on me😭

Now let me talk about the drama itself. The story is honestly nothing exceptional. Just a regular campus romance, golden retriver vs cold guy. But what makes it exceptional is the execution.

What made it really work for me was the chemistry. They have one of the best chemistries I've ever seen, BL or hetero couples alike!! I could feel the love they have for each other from just how they look at each other. Every hug, every kiss, made me blush and giggle like a middle school girl😭 seriously, kudos to TeeTee and Por for giving us such insane chemistry!

Duang is the puppiest of all puppies. Qin is the tsundere-est of all tsunderes. Together they're one of the healthiest couples I've ever seen. No unnecessary drama or misunderstandings, no toxicity, just love and fluff all over.

The characters, especially Duang, is so lovable. He is literally one of the greenest flags I've ever seen. The way he relentlessly keeps trying to win Qin's heart without ever breaking any boundaries is so endering. Even after they start dating, he never does anything until he is permitted. Why is he so precious? 🥹

While Qin not agreeing to date until much later may seem frustrating at first, we can see why he took his time. He is still a baby who's been starving for some love since he was young. He is scared of getting his heart broken once again. But once he finally did open his heart to Duang, we could see just how equally adorable he is and how much he loves Duang too.

The acting, especially TeeTee's, is honestly so impressive. It couldn't have been easy for him to act like this overly excited puppy 90% of the times. But he pulled it off so well. And the way he can pull off serious scenes equally well. His versatility really amazes me! On the other hand, Por does an amazing job at acting like a tsundere. I d1e every time he acts shy ;_;

Now, the music. Every single song is so beautiful, and they really make the drama even better. I didn't even know that they sang some of the OSTs themselves!! I only found out that they're idols after watching the 11th episode asgsghshd. This just made me love them even more🥹

Ok seems like my "review" (more like my essay on how I fell in love with DWY and TeeTeePor) is already 5 million miles long. Let me wrap this up.

In case it wasn't obvious already, I have fallen head over heels in love with Duang With You!! No other drama has made me feel this good in a really long time. I don't usually rewatch dramas, but this really has become my comfort drama and I will probably be rewatching this every now and then.

Ok I will stop now, for real. If you've read this far into my long ass review, thank you so much🥹

PS. I initially gave this a 9.0, but then I decided to make it 9.5 instead!

I should say that I have kind of a high standard. Out of the 350+ dramas I've watched so far, I've only given 10/10 to 3 dramas, and 9.5/10 to 7 of them. That should say just how much I loved Duang With You!

PPS. Please don't attack me for anything I just said 😭 this is just me sharing my thoughts, and you don't have to agree with everything I said.

I Want A Duang in My Life

That headline is how I feel after having watched eleven episodes of this series. I hesitated to write this review because I have not seen the last episode. But I don't think the finale will invalidate what I feel. Like many, I don't want this series to end. Then again, all good things must come to an end.
I'll try to cover this topic by topic.

Duang Is WITH YOU
To be fair, Duang the character may not suit everyone. He is transparent. Vocal. Sometimes over the top. But ultimately, he is full of love. Committed. Unafraid to drown you in his affection.
Teetee brings this character to life in the best possible way. The range he shows is frankly impressive. And it's why I grew to love the character. Duang can be excessive, but in the right moment, Teetee reveals an incredibly mature person who is present not out of addiction but out of sincere affection. I felt warm watching him. And I can understand why Qin would feel that warmth too.
I also have to applaud Por for making me feel the warmth Qin feels. The build-up is gradual. I can see Qin's fear and hesitation. But I can also feel his desire. Sure, there were moments when the acting felt awkward. But overall, it works incredibly well, especially considering this is Por's first lead role. He carried the character with real conviction. And that must be because he is in the company of a great ensemble.
The friends in this series shine as well. I wish there had been more moments with them, but I understand the constraints. There is not much real estate to tell their stories. Still, the actors brought out their characters well enough to make me want to know more. That says everything about how cohesive this ensemble has been.

The Cinema
The director and the entire production team did an incredible job. Major props to the director of cinematography. The way they shape the light. The way the colorist sets the mood and balances each scene. Everything works remarkably well.
I am particularly enamored by a scene in Episode 9. The scene by the piano. The actors look impeccable. The color is perfectly suited for the emotion. The way the light sculpts them is nothing short of perfection.
There are continuity issues here and there, but nothing severe enough to spoil a scene. Overall, a job beautifully done.

The Soundscape
I can understand why some viewers would be bothered by the sound effects. But I see this as a cute series, so I don't mind them. It also helps that the soundtracks are beautiful. The mixing is superb. I love the fact that the dialogue is always clear. The background music very rarely drowns it out. It is almost always complementary. Another job well done.

The Message
This series is loaded with examples that highlight the importance of communication in relationships. Between lovers, family, and friends. There are so many instances that show the depth of empathy these characters carry.
I appreciate that the two leads have the range required to bring out the best of these messages. Teetee and Por have bewitched me.
Qin carries childhood wounds that the series handles with extraordinary care. The writing never sensationalizes what happened to him. It lets the weight of it sit in his body. In the way he flinches. In what he asks for and what he cannot bring himself to ask for. Por carries all of this without a single false note. I sometimes choke up whenever I recall just how grounded Qin is despite everything. He could have ended up a complete disaster. But he did not. And the series never lets you forget what that composure costs him.

I wholeheartedly recommend this series. But I also recommend that you watch it with an open mind. Let the characters tell their stories. You may find it as rewarding as I have.
Duang With You is, without a doubt, the most lovable BL series I have seen so far. It is adorable and full of moments that make my heart leap and appreciate the beautiful.

I’ve never been this obsessed

As someone who has watched over 150 bls of all kinds, Duang With You easily became my top 1. Mind you, this genre isn’t even my cup of tea, and characters like Duang usually irk me to the point I had to drop the show (that is usually the case when actors don’t embed their character well enough or simply bad writing). But TeeteePor have executed their roles so unbelievably well that I’m eagerly waiting every second just for the new ep to drop (DWY lives rent free in my head 24/7 it’s sickening). This is my first time ever to be able to finish a DMD show, the last ones didn’t do it for me and I always dropped them mid way. Either way, I’ll surely support TeeteePor’s future projects. Please go watch Duang With You if you haven’t. Peak frfr.

5 Episodes In and We’re Still Here?

I’m currently watching this series and the story is cute, but it’s honestly moving sooo slowly. 😭 From episode 1, it was already obvious that Duang likes Qin, yet the plot keeps dragging that same point over and over. I didn’t even realize I’m already on episode 5 because it feels like the story barely moved.

There are genuinely funny moments — some scenes really made me laugh — but there are also a lot of unnecessary scenes that could’ve been trimmed down. Personally, I think the whole story could’ve worked better as a movie instead of a full series.

Still, I’m going to continue watching until the end for review purposes. Hoping the pacing gets better in the later episodes.

nunca vou esquecer

Duang with you is sooo cuteee

How much I loveee Duang with you, I feel like I look forward to every saturday cuz of dwy. It has genuinely made my weeks better and it definetly made me smile a lot more than I normally would. I also love how Duang and Qin became eachother’s safe spaces and how much their relationship evolved from EP1. Love how they didn’t avoid talking about some problems with eachother. Also the casting is perfect and the acting. I honestly wouldn’t be able to see anyone else portraying all of the character so well. Overall I think that Duang with you is very worth watching and if you still haven’t, you should.

You either hate it or you love it and you’re obsessed. There’s no in between

This review is for people who are yet to watch it.

First of all I’ll like to sympathize with anyone that didn’t watch this drama while it was airing . Just as the title suggests “Duang with you”, this series was literally with us . This series had one of the healthiest fandoms I’d ever seen . The conversations we had , the edits , random comments… Duang with you was more than a series , it was an experience.

Now you have the second opportunity to watch this series and as you’re watching it , you might feel it’s overrated but I promise you it isn’t . This series was rated based on how we all felt for 12 weeks . This is one of the few series that each episode was better than the last . We watched them fall in love . By the final episode it was so obvious how much they loved each other .

The series has a very simple story line yet it was able to handle complex characters and situations. The first few episodes were a bit cringe but at some point we got into it and it was so cute . I beg you to give it 5 episodes and if you still don’t like it , then the series isn’t for you .

Everything about this series was great ! The storyline, pacing, acting and music . The only part that was a bit lacking was the story of the second couple . I feel like as much effort wasn’t put into their story as the main couple but that’s fine … you can’t have it all .

This series tackles , love at first sight, friendships, situationships, childhood trauma etc .
This drama is officially top 2 on my favorite Bl dramas and it’s not number 2.
This drama proves that sometimes, less is more . They had a simple story and made it great . Better than having a complex story and it’s up messy with poor pacing .

Side feelings : I wish all the actors the very best in their careers and would always root for them ❤️
They’re quite young and so I hope their spark doesn’t die and they realize how talented and special they are 💐

The most charming Thai BL I've seen

First of all, I want to start this off by saying that I don't watch bl series that have anything else but very enthusiastic consent, and that includes one character being pursued by the other as well. So, when I started watching Duang With You, needless to say I was really put off by the first 2-3 episodes...
If you're like me, I'm begging you to watch on, those first episodes are very misleading. This show absolutely fulfills my requirement of enthusiastic consent.
I would go as far as to say that people who think Qin isn't into what Duang's doing are reading his character wrong - he shows his affectionate in a more subtle way, but the show explicitly says that Duang would stop pursuing him if that would make him uncomfortable, and Qin explicitly says that he is fine being purused by Duang.
So that's that. Duang is a little crazy, but he's not harrassing Qin and I am genuinely baffled by this reading of these characters.

Anyway, this show is insanely cute. I really loved all characters, but Duang's mannerisms and speech is especially charming.

And the sound effects!! I never thought I'd be praising the sound effect in a thai bl drama one day, as if anything they tend to be quite cringy, but in this one? Literal perfection. Whoever came up with those "pip pip pip pip Qiiin~" and "tee tee tee tee Duaaang~" jingles needs an award. Possibly multiple awards.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
tl;dr: watch this show, it's everything I love about Thai school bls and nothing I don't. :)

10/10* star rating is just simply NOT enough!

One important thing I'd like to point out, and I'm not saying it's an inherently bad thing, but after seeing it so many times, it gets repetitive, boring, and even annoying or exhausting to invest your own emotions/feelings into the relationship of the characters that they are to have to just receive a few affectionate scenes in the last episode or two, then cut it short, skip so many important steps of the relationship development, and just hop onto smex right away or marriage even..? Like, make it make sense. If you are tired of series like these... 'Duang with you' could never!

This series is filled to the brim with smooth relationship progression, and even tho the talking phase is apparently totally different for each and every one of us, it does not disappoint. The anticipation that you built over the first few episodes is plentifully rewarded, and you will even get seconds - imagine. On top of that, when you think that you already ate well enough, they double down.

If you are a big fan of the romantic scenes, brace yourself because I don't think I've ever seen a couple that has such natural kisses and interactions overall. Their chemistry is truly unmatched, and their bodies seem to blend so naturally as if they were meant to be together from the very start of their existence. Just another proof that TeeteePor choosing each other was written in the stars - soulmates finding each other.

It's Teetee's and Por's first time having ML and acting out scenes like these, but they have already exceeded their senior colleagues in so many aspects! Of course, we have to give credit to the acting coaches, director, and production, as well as the others who ultimately helped make 'Duang with you' come to life together with TeeteePor.

The storyline goes very smoothly, nothing feels out of place or like it's missing, and it actually MAKES SENSE - unlike many other series I have seen in my lifetime.

If you believe communication is the key, you're in for a treat. They simply don't skimp on talking through tough situations and their feelings, uneasy scenarios and emotions get resolved very reasonably, and it actually makes the way they talk about it feel very real. It really helps you get immersed in the story, their relationship status, and it will make you believe and gulp down every interaction they have and every word they say. You won't be able to help but keep falling in love with the series, the characters, and, most importantly, the actors themselves.
But let me tell you about the sound effects, the BGM?! That's the true cherry on top of the cake here, don't let me get started on that! *Pip Pip Pip PIp Qin- Teetee Teetee Duang!*

As for the main characters; some might call Duang cringy or embarrassing, but for me, he is just lovable and endearing, and I don't get what everyone's problem is with how he expresses love and joy. So you BETTER watch your mouth! Some call Qin cold or heartless, but all he needs is love and understanding because he is just as lovely and adorable as Duang. Patience is the way to go on a long run. Side characters are just as delightful and funny as these two so look forward to them.

Happy endings are what I personally love, and I can't stress enough how much 'Duang with you' and TeeteePor are my pride and joy. I fell in love with them, and I don't think I'll ever be able to recover from them. This will be the series that will stick with me till the end of my days (not to sound dramatic). If you decide to give this series a chance (as you should) and get to know TeeteePor and others, they will inevitably grow to your hearts and won't let go.

If you still yearn for more after watching the series, I highly recommend reading the novel. You won't regret it, I promise. <3
Also follow the boys on SNS and give them and their other works love because the deserve it.

5 Stars for Acting!!!

I have watched alot of Bl dramas through the years. Current count is 557 series/movies. And there have been many great performances of talented actors. Watching Duang With You has reminded me what good acting is - especially with "TeeTee" Wanpichit Nimiparkpoom as Duang. His ability to go from silly and adorable to intense drama and tears is exciting to watch. He moves through his character with charm, graceful in his awkwardness. It is a great skill in someone so young. He is intent on his fellow actors - gives them focus while never losing his own character. His main scene partner is "Por" Suppakarn Jirachotikul as Qinn, who is also very good in his distant, brooding character. He is the perfect target for Duang's affection and they work beautifully together. While the story is sometimes reminiscent of previous stories, these two young actors seem to be able to make it fresh and make us want to watch and root for them. I find that I am smiling most of the time while watching. Bravo!!!
