Funny for a little watch, but not interesting enough to stay charged until the end!
After a long time, a K-drama rom-com actually made me sit down and smile. The fantasy element in this isn't as massive as in typical K-dramas, but it balances things out with a breath of lighthearted romance. While the entire script was super cliché, it was genuinely fun to watch. It made me naturally laugh and anticipate their blooming bond—even though that spark only lasted for a short period. The first half was incredibly strong, fun, and well-paced. I really enjoyed seeing Kim Young-kwang; he gave a fantastic performance by bringing that 'childish-in-love' and 'loser-in-love' energy to Ho-rang. It's so entertaining to see K-drama male leads being energetic and a little puppy-coded in love, especially since most dramas usually have the women carrying that enthusiastic energy. He actually reminded me a bit of Lee Min-ho—his aura as a third-generation chaebol really carried that build and aesthetic.
I wasn't initially invested in this drama because of Chae Soo-bin, as I respectfully don't usually vibe with her acting (though I liked her in I'm Not a Robot). However, she did a good job as Na Bo-bae. That said, whenever the scenes came up where her character writes and imagines her story, I couldn't see a single emotion on her face except for a perplexed look, which made it feel forced and unnatural. I guess I just don't vibe with her acting style, and that’s all. On the other hand, I was so thrilled to see Cha Woo-min since this is his first actual romance project! Man, he plays the second lead who has feelings for her but has to give her up! Ack, I liked him here too. His bond with Soo-bin in the drama was so sweet and gentle.
Also, who is this diva, Shin Do-hyun?! She is gorgeous! I don't remember noticing her anywhere else, but apparently, she has been in many projects. I loved the fierce energy she brewed for this drama. And of course, Jung Jae-kwang as Do-yun was just perfect, totally slaying that unapologetic bastard character.
As I mentioned, this drama was fun, but only until the main characters got together. After that, it just fell flat, and the plot became uninteresting and pretty boring. I suppose it was the 6th episode that completely locked me in. I wish there had been more to it, especially with how they wrapped things up. They could have given us a bit more anticipation—like how the bodyguard made me second-guess his character—or at least made the ending funny enough to maintain its appeal.
Looking back at the drama now that it's completed, there wasn't much chemistry between the main leads either. Honestly, the only thing I loved most was Choi Min-ho's guest role in the first two episodes. Ahh, my SHINee heart is screaming! He made me cackle so much, lol. I love seeing him in K-dramas! ><
Thus, it wasn't as great or funny as I heard it was about. Overall, it is worth a casual watch.

Pretty silly most of the time, bordering on cheesy fan fiction. As a true Sonic fan, it doesn't really bother me. The idea of recharging the pacemaker makes absolutely no sense. Whatever. But I really needed that flood of sugar, feel-good vibes, and a tough guy who cries in secret while watching a K-drama. Binge-watching those sappy episodes helped me kill time, wallowing like an unproductive slacker, ruminating on my anxieties and doing absolutely nothing.
I like that the two suitors in the love triangle come right out and admit their feelings. And that the one who gets rejected doesn't keep pushing. In fact, everyone moves on once a situation is resolved. However, the last two episodes dragged on with an attempt at melodrama that didn't fit at all with the rest of the show.

An easy binge
This is definitely a brain off kind of drama,. Cliches to the max a familiar feeling of yes I have seen this before making you feel all warm and familiar inside...The leads are lovely, the second male lead is the type to give you SLS and the second female lead does her job really well. I feared I would be annoyed, roll my eyes and think oh that is not really how an artificial heart works but the whole pikachu sets the medical/scientific standard pretty well allowing me to completely shut off all logic and just enjoy the electric current...

Light fun drama With holes in the plot
Overall, a lighthearted, funny, and entertaining watch! I enjoyed the show, and I don’t have any major complaints, but a few things kept bugging me.First, Do Yoon’s mother and her constant use of English kept reminding me of Business Proposal. The tone felt so similar that I couldn’t help but feel that it lacked originality in that aspect.
I also wasn’t a fan of the love triangle. Eun Ho and Bo Bae could’ve had a perfectly nice friendship without turning it into a romantic angle.
Another thing that bothered me was how abruptly some plot points were handled. Do Yoon and his mother’s downfall felt cut short, and we never really got to see it play out. We also never found out who Ho Rang’s secretary was secretly reporting to. (My suspicion is his grandma)
None of these are huge plot holes, but they were little things that kept nagging at me.
That said, managing to deliver an entertaining story in just 10 episodes deserves some credit. The show was fun, easy to watch, and enjoyable overall, even if a few things could’ve been handled better.

a very nice, but lacking watch!
randomly picked this as i found it in the top 10 shows being watched and it looks silly and nice to watch.and i did NOT know i would binge it like this after taking this long time off without watching kdramas!
ngl it has everything from my “this is a good kdrama” checklist; comedy? check. romance? check. preferably adult cast? check. some drama and a sprinkle of tragedy? check. and it had a big bonus which was supernatural! + another big bonus which is a GOOD soundtrack! and that’s also checked!
ngl i was never a fan of supernatural stuff no matter the media im consuming, but lately it’s been growing on me so yes this absolutely ticked that bonus part in my checklist.
it was a really nice and chill watch and i just didnt feel the episodes length AT ALL.
im very generous when it comes to rating so the reason im not giving it a 10 was cuz i felt like it needed a *taaaaad* more… like maybe 2 more episodes? uuuuhhh one episode concluding the mess with ho-rang’s aunt and cousin and focusing on finally closing that door for good and how the TS company is doing now and another one for the wedding for example? and more of their married life maybe?
i did enjoy it and i did have too much fun watching it and getting into the kdrama mood again, but idk it just felt like it needed a tad more and felt kinda rushed.

light, cute, sweet, but something was missing!
I expected this drama to take a break from the endless drama - smile, and enjoy the romance. The chemistry between the actors worked well. But the idea of "magic with charging" was presented very tastelessly and didn't interest me at all, even though it was the core plot. And in my opinion, there is too much family drama, constantly this aunt and cousin with an incomprehensible motive of hatred. Even a small explanation in the last episode didn't help to better understand their actions.
At times it was boring, I wanted to fast-forward. I'm not rating it lower because it was actually okay, but I won't rewatch it. They didn't explain about the evil grandma either: in my opinion, this should have played an important role in the plot.

Cute Fluff chemistry, Memorable leads forgettable plot
It is a cute drama. The kind of drama i would prefer when i wanna go backto the old kdrama Ro-com fluffy feel era.It was refreshing to see CSB and my favourite KYK together, I was waiting for this for a long long time. The plot is simple as simple as it can be in dramas where some super power is shown, the chemistry is good, the actors did a great job. For me it will stay memorable and yet forgettable . I did come out of the drama slump so 10/10 for that however the direction could've been better but I like the pacing of the show, neither too draggy not to fast paced. Story telling is also good, made me look forward to each episode , anticipating what new things will unfold in the main leads life.
Go on, it's a cute drama(so I'll be bias in the rating) that feeds one's guilty pleasure of cheesy tropes and common plotlines. However, if you are coming here to look for some out of the box thing then this will not surprise you much.

One of the better romantic K-dramas of 2026 by Netflix
If you are feeling overwhelmed by all the recent K-drama choices on Netflix and aren't certain which rom-com is actually worth your time, Take Charge of My Heart is probably one of the better ones to pick. It’s a fast paced fantasy romance with an absurd premise and sizzling main-character chemistry that makes for a perfect weekend binge. When I say it’s easily one of the more entertaining K-dramas to drop in 2026, I mean it. I dropped most of the newest releases except Take Charge of My Heart. It’s 10 episodes long, but it’s a good uncomplicated romance watch. Thank goodness the writers chose peace and focused purely on the romance instead of dragging us through a million messy, unnecessary side plots that steal precious screen time.
Now, the premise is nothing new, but it’s funny, simple, and with heart—which is exactly how I like my K-romcoms. We have our quirky female lead, Na Bo-bae (the fabulous Chae Soo-bin). I just loved her in When the Phone Rings. Na Bo-bae got blasted by lightning as a kid and now casually conducts high-voltage electricity. She literally cannot touch a soul without frying them. Enter the male lead, Baek Ho-rang (played by Kim Young-kwang), who is your textbook, ultra-brooding heir to a luxury hotel empire. Of course he had a sad backstory. The twist? The man is running around with a low-battery artificial heart, and surprise, surprise—our electric girl is his human charging station. He is also the only person she can touch without electrocuting them. Delightfully ridiculous!
And can we talk about the rest of the supporting cast? Because they absolutely stole the show. Ji Eun-ho, the second male lead played by the criminally charming Cha Woo-min, had me in absolute shambles. Watching him get rejected over and over again was devastating—protect this man at all costs for future romantic leading roles! Then we have the legendary Kim Mi-kyung playing the brutal, high-society chairwoman, Gong Man-seol. She usually plays the sweet mother, humble maid, or cozy grandma, so seeing her completely dominate the screen as a glamorous, silver-haired matriarch was everything I didn't know I needed.
Take Charge of My Heart isn't reinventing the wheel. It clings to the classic K-drama formula for dear life, but honestly? That’s the beauty of it. Is it high-brow, Oscar-winning acting? No, babe. But it delivers solid, pure romantic entertainment from start to finish with great lead chemistry.
My only real beef is with the final couple of episodes. The writers just had to throw in a forced separation arc. You know the drill: the female lead randomly flees to a far-off village to stay with her parents, and the male lead has to chase her down, meet the family, and do manual farm labor to prove his love. Can we please ban this trope? Viewers today want to see couples actually stick together and solve their drama like adults, not play hide-and-seek in the countryside! It definitely slowed down the momentum at the end, but thanks to the short runtime, it didn't completely ruin the vibe. And separation lasted half an episode.
Bottom line: it’s fun, it’s quirky, and it’s a beautifully quick watch for anyone looking to try something solid in the classic light fantasy K-romcom genre.
On a personal note, it has been a hot minute since we've seen Kim Young-kwang leading a proper romantic drama, and I was so pleasantly surprised to have him back in this lane! For anyone who’s only just discovering him now through this drama, you seriously need to check out his acting range. Go watch him in Somebody and Trigger. You're welcome!

Divertido porem...
Was this review helpful to you?
Non cringey - just lighthearted, great romcom!
If you feel like watching a lighthearted romcom that will give you bubbly feelings and a lot of laughs - you are right with this one!Don't listen to the bad reviews, I am not a huge romcom fan, but this hit right in every spot and feels like you are back in the golden times of kdrama.
The actors did a great job, that includes the whole cast, from the villains to the family and of course our main couple!
The chemistry was great and it looked great on our ML actor Kim Young-Kwan to not play a villain for a change.
The story was cute and the electricity was sth. new, I think it was a refreshing story idea. They also didn't overdo it.
Story was fast paced and not boring.
Try it out, I am sure you will be hooked after the second episode!
