News Not Bad, But I Expected More
I think everyone did the best they could with the script they were given. The drama had a promising start, but unfortunately, the story fell flat for me quite quickly, which was a shame because I felt it had a lot of potential. That being said, the OST was lovely and definitely one of its redeeming qualities. There were also some genuinely funny moments that made me laugh, so it wasn't without its charm.
Overall, while there were things I enjoyed, the story just didn't quite deliver on its initial promise. It's not one of the best dramas of 2026 for me, but I can still appreciate the effort that went into it.

Just another predictable Kdrama
Nothing special. It's just like any other Kdrama plot. Not as I expected 😕. The acting of the FL was impressive but screenplay and direction could have been better. It was too predictable. Also I am curious to know who was that guy, who was there when the FL got struck by the lighting. Was it her brother? Was this review helpful to you?
Finally, a Proper Shoujo-Style K-Drama That Made My Heart Flutter!
I'm so, so in love with Baek Ho Rang and Na Bo Bae! 🥹💕 They're absolutely adorable together, and their chemistry is so warm, natural, and heart-fluttering that I had butterflies every single time they appeared on screen. I'm also incredibly glad they decided to release all the episodes at once because this is exactly the kind of romance you just want to binge without stopping!I've seen a few reviews saying the story was too classic or predictable, but honestly, that's exactly what made me love it even more. Sometimes, all I want is a sweet, comforting, extra al콩달콩 romance that makes me smile like an idiot, and this drama delivered everything I was craving.
And can we talk about Baek Ho Rang for a moment? His character was such a breath of fresh air. Quiet, intelligent, composed, and effortlessly charming. There was something so calming about watching him, and that smile? WOOOAH! SO ADORABLE! 😭💕 I especially loved how, in the end, he didn't resort to any extreme revenge or dramatic schemes to destroy the people who had wronged him. He simply revealed the truth and let them destroy themselves. That was so satisfying and perfectly suited his character.
But what truly made this love story special to me was the relationship between Baek Ho Rang and Na Bo Bae. They both entered their contract with clear goals and something important they wanted to achieve. Neither expected to fall in love, yet somewhere along the way, their feelings became more important than everything they had originally been fighting for.
And when they eventually lost everything they had worked toward, neither seemed to care about their own losses. All they could think about was whether the other person was okay. THAT is the kind of love I absolutely adore. Two people who started out pursuing their own dreams but ended up finding someone more precious than anything they could have imagined.
It's been such a long time since I watched a proper shoujo-style K-drama that gave me this many butterflies. No unnecessary cruelty, no ridiculously toxic romance, just two lovable characters slowly falling for each other and choosing each other when it mattered most.
I genuinely don't care if the story was cliché. Give me this kind of sweet, wholesome, heartwarming romance over unnecessary angst any day!
This was exactly the kind of love story I wanted to watch. So soft, so comforting, so beautifully romantic. My heart is FULL! 💗

A fun rom-com with an electrifying twist!
A pleasant and entertaining rom-com with a slightly original premise: the whole electricity and recharging concept adds a fun twist to an otherwise very familiar story.Chae Soo-bin is adorable as always, and she is one of the drama’s biggest strengths. Kim Young-kwang is also more than decent as the male lead, and the two have excellent chemistry throughout the series, even in the more emotional and melodramatic moments. Their interactions are easily the highlight.
The supporting cast is a more mixed bag. Her family — parents, sister and brother — is lovely, but some of the other characters are rather underdeveloped and drawn with very little nuance. The grandmother, in particular, feels like a missed opportunity.
The drama is packed with rom-com clichés — probably all of them! — and occasionally slips into caricature. Another familiar weakness is the tendency to portray characters in their thirties as overly childish. A little of this can be funny, but when it goes on for too long, it becomes tiring and hard to believe.
The ending is predictable, as one would expect from this kind of rom-com, but it works well enough. The 10-episode format is also a good choice: the story remains enjoyable without being unnecessarily stretched.
Nothing groundbreaking, then, but a fun watch with a charming leading lady and a couple that genuinely works.

A new favourite comfort watch
I loved it! It felt like a real k-drama instead of your avarage Netflix production. It uses all the tropes and cliches of the genre but in a fresh way that makes it enjoyble to watch and not stale. Sometimes is meta and sometimes is not, playing with the viewer suspention of disbelief in a somewhat traditional yet smart manner. It made me laugh and flutter a lot. The chemistry between the two leads is top notch and their natural acting adds unreplaceable value. Their interactions and their falling in love felt so real in a way that is pretty rare to see on screen. Also I love to see a relationship stems out between strangers rather than the usual coworkers or childhood friends. Male lead is also a huge green flag 💚 This show has reached comfort watch status and the only reason I'm not giving it a higher score is because some scenes (mainly the ones involving secondary characters) were boring to watch but overall this drama was a crazy enjoyable and satisfying watch. Highly reccomendedWas this review helpful to you?
The chemistry was electric, but the finale lost its charge
It’s been more than two years since I last finished a Korean drama. This series relives my younger years of being fond of K-dramas, especially rom-coms. Both of the leads are among my favorites, considering their impressive track records and the great roles they’ve played in previous shows. I trusted Kim Young Kwang and Chae Soo Bin to deliver cute chemistry and outstanding performances, and they did!The earlier EPs really made me sacrifice sleep just to binge-watch them. They were so entertaining and chaotically funny! The whole “recharge my heart” concept revolving around Na Bo Bae and her electric powers was executed so well. She will be Pikachu, if Pikachu were to live as a human. I was satisfied with how they incorporated her electrical abilities into the story, properly exploring both their advantages and disadvantages. There were several EPs that highlighted how her powers benefited the storyline, and I absolutely adore that.
Na Bo Bae’s relationship with her family and best friend were beautiful to watch. They showed how important it is to have a support system, even when you suddenly find yourself dealing with an unusual power. Baek Ho Rang, on the other hand, was the usual rich man with a cold personality that we often see in K-dramas. There wasn’t really anything new about his character, except for his recharging heart needs, but I think that was part of his charm, too. I was just as fascinated by and in love with his character as I was with Bo Bae.
Second-lead syndrome is practically a staple in the K-drama world, and I loved the buildup and presence of Ji Eun Ho, a big star who had been our leading lady’s number one fan since the beginning of his career. Of course, I was also looking at some good jealousy scenes, and he definitely delivered. He makes Ho Rang burn with jealousy.
Now, here comes the villain who drained almost all the love I had for this show.
First of all, I really hated how the antagonists kept winning in almost EPs of the second half of the show. Only for the much-anticipated sweet revenge and severe punishments to never actually happen, or, at best, to be given very little time in the finale. We were told that the cousin and his mother were already out of the picture, but was that really enough? Their downfall deserved proper scenes and execution, not just a quick explanation. The same goes for the female love rival and the traitorous annoying man secretary. I wanted to see all of them behind bars. I wanted actual scenes showing them facing the consequences of their actions, not just verbal confirmation that everything had been taken care of, that easily.
How am I supposed to fully enjoy the lead’s sweet moments and emotional reconnection when the villains’ misdeeds haven’t been properly addressed?
The grandmother was also part of this drama’s little hell club. She only pushed the main antagonists to become even more evil, making everything more frustrating to watch. Still, I always say that whenever I see Kim Mi Kyung in a drama, there’s a 90% chance that the drama will be amazing. She was another reason I had high expectations for this series.
I obviously wanted to give this drama a higher rating, but after all my ranting about the villains, I believe my final rating is justified. They gave me butterflies, but then again forgot to give me justice. Not really a big requirement as a rom-com, but still needed to close the story properly. Unfortunately, the ending felt flat.

A classic Kdrama feel
I want to start by saying I loved how much this had the classic kdrama rom-com feel. From the premise to the cheesy and romantic moments to the comedy, I loved it all. The comedy and goofiness of this show made it so enjoyable. I really think they nailed that so well.Characters:
Ho Rang: I liked how much personality he had. He was goofy, smart, emotional, and just a very entertaining lead. With how the show started I was worried he was going to be boring, but he wasn't at all.
Bo Bae: I liked her a lot too! I found all her writer fantasies really funny and just found her really fun overall. She did have moments of the typical "why would he choose someone like me" attitude, but it wasn't often enough that it bothered me at all. Her powers were pretty cool to see too with how they worked. I loved seeing them pay attention to a lot of the little details when it came to her (like her wearing finger gloves to type, her frizzy hair, her laptop cover being soft so she can carry it without worry, etc.). I loved seeing that.
Ho Rang and Bo Bae together: I loved these two together a lot. They were a really fun couple, and I think they brought out each other's goofy side and I loved that so much! Them testing all the different types of charging was so cute! They had great chemistry together too as actors! One of the better couples I've seen in a little bit.
Eun Ho: This is where my complaints come in just to warn you. There wasn't enough of him at all. He's supposed to be the second lead/love interest, and we rarely saw him (we saw so many other characters more than we ever saw him and his name is listed third in the credits...make it make sense). I liked his character a lot from what we did see, and I loved his relationship with Bo Bae quite a lot too. Though again, a lot of moments between them happen off camera. Another thing is Bo Bae tells us instantly that she sees him as a little brother so how are we ever really supposed to see him as a love interest. We know so quickly that she says she's never seen him differently, so he never stood a chance to begin with. I guess I just don't see the point in his character.
Seol Hui & Choi Do Yun: They annoyed me the entire show start to finish. I think they deserve each other for how awful they are honestly.
The finale felt so eh to me, like nothing really happened. It almost felt like they didn't leave quite enough material to be wrapped up in the final episode, so it felt a little empty for a finale. A lot of things were either wrapped up pre-finale or if they were in the finale, it happened off camera or was just kind of referenced rather than us actually getting to see it. I wish they did something different with the finale entirely to be honest. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show overall and a lot more than I thought I would. I highly recommend!

Take Charge of My Heart — 7.5/10
Take Charge of My Heart is an enjoyable drama that manages to stand out just enough in a genre often crowded with familiar formulas and predictable storylines. While it may not offer anything particularly revolutionary, it has a certain charm that makes it easy to get invested in its characters and their relationships. One of its strengths is the way it combines romance with personal struggles, giving the story enough emotional substance to keep things interesting beyond the central love story. The interactions between the characters provide some genuinely enjoyable moments, and the drama succeeds in creating an atmosphere that makes you want to keep watching. Although not every development feels equally convincing, and some aspects of the storytelling could have benefited from greater depth and a more consistent pace, the overall experience remains satisfying.
What I appreciated most is that the drama doesn't need to be groundbreaking to be worthwhile. It offers a pleasant combination of romance, emotional moments, and entertainment, even if it occasionally falls back on familiar genre conventions. The result is a production that may not leave a lasting impression as one of the great dramas, but certainly has enough positive qualities to deserve recognition.
Overall, Take Charge of My Heart is a solid and entertaining watch. It has its imperfections, but its charm and emotional appeal outweigh its shortcomings. A good choice for viewers looking for an enjoyable romantic drama without necessarily expecting a masterpiece.

Finally, Some Rom Com Leads With Sense!
Take Charge of My Heart is such a fantastic rom-com and I think it might genuinely be my favourite rom-com of 2026. What makes it so good is deceptively simple: we have two genuinely likable characters who are reasonably well-adjusted, fundamentally good people, and who actually make sense together. And I lead with this because, lately, K-drama romances have become an exercise in asking why two people even like each other. You occasionally have a female lead so thoroughly entangled in her own complexes that you wonder what the male lead sees in her, or a male lead who is so unnecessarily cruel that you want to stage an intervention on behalf of the woman dating him.
Take Charge of My Heart gives us none of that nonsense. Na Bo-Bae and Baek Ho-rang are warm, believable and wonderfully written. They're adults navigating health, attraction, figuring out what they want and working out how (with incredible honesty ) how to cross that proverbial line between friendship and romance. Nobody needs to lose their entire personality for the relationship to work. Haven't seen that in ages!
I particularly love Na Bo-bae as a female lead. She's a drama writer trying to find her big break, but she's not written as some hapless, perpetually floundering woman who needs a man to discover her worth. She's creative, confident and emotionally perceptive. She has setbacks, certainly, but she's not clueless about herself or the people around her. She understands her feelings, recognises the feelings of others and doesn't spend the whole drama pretending not to notice the most obvious romantic signals known to humankind.
The meta-commentary around the drama industry is another lovely touch. Having a drama writer at the centre of a drama about romance gives the story room to play with the very tropes it's indulging in. And indulge it does! The K-drama trope starter pack is fully stocked, and I was absolutely not complaining. Give me the clichés when they're this well executed!
The chemistry is everywhere, too. The body language, the little gestures, the timing, the physical choreography of their interactions — everything feels so natural. You can tell these characters understand each other. They're fundamentally friends. They know each other's quirks, habits and little shticks. Their romance grows out of that familiarity, which makes the attraction all the more convincing.
And can we talk about how FUNNY this drama is? Because I was laughing out loud. Almost every episode had me giggling, and that is no small achievement these days. Rom-coms are supposed to be funny, yet somehow we keep accepting romantic comedies that forget the comedy altogether.
So why doesn’t it quite reach a 9 or above?
Firstly, the payoff when it comes to all the villains punishments was whack. After everything that happens, I wanted something more satisfying. The resolution simply doesn’t quite deliver the catharsis the story calls for.
Secondly- the drama could have been more confident in its use of inference. Dramas are stronger when there are moments when we understand what has happened off-screen through the characters’ behaviour in the present day. They did this well with him waking up fully charged in the morning suggesting that she "supercharged" him the night before. It’s cheeky, it’s funny, and it trusts the audience to connect the dots.
I wish the drama had applied that same storytelling technique more deftly to its other storylines. Instead of repeatedly taking us back into the past to explain events, it could have let more of the present-day consequences speak for themselves. That would have made the writing feel even more sophisticated, while allowing the audience to participate in putting the pieces together. The drama already demonstrates that it knows how to communicate through subtext; I just wanted it to trust that instinct more consistently.
But ,anyways, I can already see this becoming one of my comfort dramas. I want to rewatch it. I want to revisit the scenes that made me laugh. What more can you ask of a rom-com?
My favourite rom-com of 2026 so far!

A small surprise!
This K-drama is an incredibly light, enjoyable, and deeply engaging watch, with episodes flying by so fast that it becomes almost impossible to stop watching. Even though the male lead’s visuals weren't entirely to my taste, the amazing Chae Soo-bin fits her role flawlessly, bringing a huge amount of charm, freshness, and vibrant energy to the entire story. Was this review helpful to you?

Cliche done right
"It doesn't matter if its cliche and childish. When you're watching something fun, you forget everything else. The hardships. the loneliness, the pain.when youre watching something fun it whisks you away into another world" - quote from TCOMHthis drama is a very fluffy fun and silly kdrama, i personally watched it while waiting for 100 days of deception to drop new eps because you really dont have to use your braincells while watching it. is it ridiculous? yes. is it your average cliche kdrama? also yes. but is the cliche in this done right? absolutely.
i think its funny to see how people jump to hate on this because this is so lighthearted and cliche without realizing that most producers and directors often fail to serve something so simple.
it has an interesting concept and storyline, there are many funny moments in this and its a very very very rewatchable kdrama and overall a feel good kdrama. i also love how there are lines in the drama that acknowledge the fact that its a cliche and childish drama.
