This Had Me Laughing, Swooning, and Screaming
I honestly didn’t expect to get this invested, but Revenged Love pulled me in right from the start and never let go.I don’t even know where to start because this drama was just… pure chaos wrapped in sweetness and sprinkled with moments that hit me right in the feels.
The story blends humor, petty revenge, and heartfelt moments so well that I was either laughing at the ridiculousness or clutching my heart because of the emotions. Chi Cheng and Suo Wei’s relationship was easily the highlight for me, the bickering, the shameless flirting, the jealous glares, and those random “married couple” moments were so addictive. Their dynamic had that perfect mix of chaos and comfort.
The second couple, Xiao Shuai and Guo Cheng Yu, was on the softer side, and I did enjoy them—especially those little quiet, warm moments. But that awkward, dry kiss? Yeah… not gonna lie, I wanted a bit more fire there. Still, they were cute in their own way. Oh, and while I loved Doc as a character on his own, I just couldn’t vibe with him in any romantic scene. And Cheng Yu… this man was such a green flag—loved him!
Wang Shuo was pure entertainment from start to finish.
And then there’s the snake subplot (yes, the snake was basically a side character).
Pacing-wise, it was consistently engaging, and the chemistry between the cast carried every scene.
Yes, this drama has flaws. The dubbing? Sometimes questionable. Lip sync? Off in a few scenes. Editing? Could’ve been smoother. And don’t even get me started on the underdeveloped side plotlines (seriously, don’t ask me what exactly those snake business scenes were about—I still don’t know). Of course, the gang r@pe thing in ep 1 was unnecessary and could’ve been handled differently in a less disturbing way—it’s the one thing that really bothered me.
But here’s the thing—despite all of that, I didn’t really care. I just LOVED it. I laughed, smiled, and even got a little emotional at times.
Overall, despite its flaws and questionable choices here and there, Revenged Love gave me an insane amount of butterflies. It’s one of those dramas where logic occasionally takes a backseat, but the characters, chemistry, and sheer entertainment value make you not care at all. I was hooked from the first episode, rode the rollercoaster of chaos and sweetness all the way through, and honestly enjoyed every second of it. Definitely not perfect, but absolutely worth the watch for the feels and the fun.

Much drama, much fun, much crazy and they made it in the end!
ᴍʏ ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ ꜱʏꜱᴛᴇᴍ: 10 = [ʟᴏᴠᴇᴅ ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ɪᴛ, ɴᴏ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴀɪɴᴛꜱ, ɪɴ ᴍʏ ᴏᴘɪɴɪᴏɴ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀꜱ 'ᴘᴇʀꜰᴇᴄᴛ', ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ʀᴇᴄᴄ ɪᴛ]They made it, and we made it ya'll. It was a long, yet somehow also short, ride to get to the end of these very entertaining and interesting 24 episodes but here we are :D
I have always said and have always felt Chinese producers and Chinese writers doing BL is on another level, they've shown many times that their BL game could be amazing if they were free to produce them, even their censored content is usually amazing, and now we see just how great their proper BLs are and can be through recent examples, and especially including Revenged Love. The Chinese do nuance and story/character building and character interaction like few other BLs have ever managed to do so far.
So for RL, let's break it down:
THE GOOD -GREAT!-:
- Casting CASTING cAStiNg!!! They nailed it, honestly, the four mains were amazing in this, as well as the two 'right hand men' to the two main Tops (so likeable despite not having much screen time), and the support cast were all great too (the bad guys and good guys), everyone really owned their roles. Never mind the fact the fact that all four mains and many support cast members were good looking, which I RARELY think when watching any BL.
- Despite the budget not being very high and a few flaws made by the wardrobe department (repeated outfits and odd fashion choices), ultimately they locked down some key character looks, memorable scene sets and made very few continuity errors or filming errors left in scenes.
- The acting of the great cast was well on point, each of the four mains embodied their characters super well.
- Unique characters and character relationships, especially between the four main leads.
- A full and complete story from start to finish (albeit a somewhat crazy one but that's on the author CJD), with refreshing arcs and scenes not usually seen in BLs.
- The OST is great, and the music is also used very very well, at just the right points, doesn't overwhelm the scenes or ruin the moment and it was always very suitable to the scenes it was used in.
- Every episode has insanely good visuals at various points and the rewatch value goes hard.
- They used REAL snakes in almost all of the scenes, which was unexpected and a bonus (I like snakes), and only some CGI once and it wasn't the worst.
- The chemistry of the four main leads really was off the charts!
- Some plot scenarios with interesting highs and lows that were sometimes ugly and sometimes sexy, kept us on our toes lol
- No overdone perfect makeup and hair in every scene, the actors looked mostly natural with some normal makeup and their hair and clothes were left to become untidy, also their body hair wasn't all shaved away and they sat and moved and talked and gestured fluidly, the actors becoming the characters quite naturally.
- The humor! I loved the humor so much, sometimes in your face, sometimes subtle!
- Over all the adaptation was changed and adjusted in many good ways, a very successful live take on a very bad fanfiction based webnovel.
THE not bad but rather SHORTCOMINGS (imo):
- I don't mind China's voice over-dubbing, but sometimes the dubbing was a little too loud, the mix down audio editing could have been better.
- The way the wardrobe department dressed the character of Chengyu sometimes baffled me, not his shirts, those were fine and quite outstanding and helped create a signature look, but his pants. Really not flattering. At all. The shoes also, of Chengyu and Chi Cheng, but then, I have NEVER understood Asia's obsession with giant shoes, especially on already tall men. Again, not flattering. The characters of Suowei and Xiaoshuai were dressed much better in comparison.
- The story sometimes got a little wonky, but considering the source material, the upgrade is massive.
THE UGLY:
- The unhinged 'fans' who caused a lot of problems for the showrunners and affected many things, like airing schedule changes, halting of promotion and bts and even led to scenes being cut from many episodes. These issues caused by external factors did make hinder the high of the enjoyment marginally.
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
- ZHAN XUAN. For me, I discovered a new actor I really like (who happens to be super fine ahem and he sings well!).
- Tian Xuning, he definitely OWNED the role of Chi Cheng, like, he brought a whole vibe to the character that is quite stand out and unique and memorable.
- Chengyu and Chi Cheng's relationship and all their visuals and scenes and moments together. Damn near perfect pair imo.
- Many scenes from this show are memorable and a few of them made it onto my 'scenes that live in my head rent free' list.
- Because THE VISUALS were over all so so damn good.
- I loved the angst and dark humor and colourfully fucked up characters/personalities of the four mains.
- Entertainment value is super high.
This show might not be for everyone, but for those who like some dark themes and humor, angst, drama and comedy in their romance, you will LOVE this. This checked all my boxes and so I rated it 10/10 according to my personal rating system.

Chi Cheng & Wu Suo Wei Stole My Heart
Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei were absolutely adorable. Even though the story was rushed and many scenes were clearly cut, it still delivered exactly what a Fujoshi wants from a BL. The chemistry between the two main characters was so strong that it made it really hard for me to move on from them. The side couple was cute as well, but honestly, my eyes were only on the main couple. The plot was extremely simple, but it still managed to keep my attention all the way to the end.Was this review helpful to you?

I really loved both couples
I came across this drama while searching for BLs with at most one black flag main character. Despite my initial doubts, I ended up finding the plot surprisingly captivating. Wu Suo Wei’s (WSW) scheming was one of my favorite aspects, especially because the drama doesn’t romanticize it blindly: we also see his inner conflict and emotional struggle, particularly since he identifies as straight at the beginning. That added an interesting layer to his character development. In my opinion, the drama also does a great job of integrating WSW’s financial background. His poverty and resulting frugality are not played off as a joke but are meaningfully woven into the narrative. What I found especially interesting was how his relationship with money is reflected in his romantic relationships — and how this attitude gradually evolves as he grows emotionally and becomes more secure in his feelings.
The shared hobby of snake breeding was a refreshing and unusual element. It felt new and added a mix of visual appeal, tension, and emotional symbolism — combining a certain “hotness factor” with genuine storytelling.
On top of that, the chemistry between Chi Cheng (CC) and WSW was definitely there. While there is some miscommunication (or lack of communication) leading to jealousy and misunderstandings, their interactions were overall humorous and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the softer, more intimate moments, like the firecracker scene or the interactions with WSW’s mother. That said, there were a few plotlines that felt somewhat odd or unnecessary — the kidnapping storyline in particular stood out as strange.
What really elevated the drama for me, though, was the side couple: Guo Cheng Yu (GCY) and Jiang Xiao Shuai (JXS). Often, side couples are either so uninteresting that I skip their scenes or so compelling that I wish they had more screentime than the main couple. Here, however, I genuinely loved both couples equally. JXS’s clinic served as a great setting for exploring the consequences of WSW’s scheming and his emotional turmoil. I also appreciated how the relationships gradually evolved into genuine friendships. By the end, all four characters form a surprisingly harmonious and well-balanced friend group — especially considering how much GCY and CC clashed at the beginning. JXS, in particular, acts as a comforting presence for GCY, and their relationship is refreshingly low on unnecessary drama. Their dynamic felt warm, natural, and emotionally safe, which was a nice contrast to the more chaotic energy of the main couple.
As for the technical aspects: the OST was fitting and pleasant, though not particularly memorable. The rewatch value of the series is quite high — especially since it inspired me to start reading the novel "Counterattack". I would absolutely not recommend reading the novel before watching the drama. I’m very glad the adaptation made significant changes e.g. the brick scene(s). After finishing the series, however, it’s interesting to compare the two. The novel itself reads like a light, trashy fanfiction — which I personally enjoy as casual entertainment (no offense intended to fans; this is purely my personal opinion).
In conclusion, I do think Revenged Love is somewhat overhyped, which can raise expectations a little too high. Still, it’s genuinely enjoyable and has become one of my favorite BL dramas so far.
P.S.: If you enjoyed the scheming aspect at the beginning — trying to win over another man’s heart — I can also recommend the Chinese BL "ABO Desire". Apart from that similarity, the two dramas are quite different, though.

A believable BL story that will have you rooting for the main characters
Not sure how I stumbled upon this drama but I’m glad I stayed to the end because the characters were so believable and the plot was (mainly) really good. This is, simply put, a story about redemption, trust and love.
The story starts out as simple revenge where the innocent and naive male protagonist (Wu Suowei) is dumped by his gold digger of a girlfriend (Yue Yue) who is dissatisfied by his financial status. She then goes hunting for a wealthy boyfriend and hones in on Chi Cheng the jaded, bored gay son of a wealthy chairman who is being pressured into marriage by his unsuspecting parents. Wu Suowei decides to break her heart by pretending to be interested in Chi Cheng in the hopes of splitting them up and goes from a straight man to a man who “I don’t know if I like men or not, but I like you”. The story not only covers these two men, but another couple Jiang Xiao Shuai (Wu Suowei’s best friend) and Guo Chengyu (Chi Chang’s bestie) and their developing relationship.
There are plot twists and turns, funny bits, sad bits as well as a few more characters who try to muddy the waters between Wu Suowei and Chi Cheng. Their developing feelings and reactions to these situations all add honesty and credibility to both this story and the characters they portray.
The only part of the plot that I found ludicrous was when Chi Chang’s father decided to kidnap Wu Suowei. The ensuing scenes may have made more sense in the mother tongue but certainly were of little value to the overall plot when google translate ( or whatever software they used - it clearly wasn’t translated by a human) got involved. I deducted points for this bizarre chapter, although I’m guessing the father was trying to persuade Wu Suowei to stay away from his son.
Would I watch this again? Absolutely but with headphones on and no one else around to see the seriously steamy ‘sex’ scenes. Kudos to the straight actors for making it all so believable.

The pain of finishing this series is insufferable.
Revenged love literally took my heart out, played with it, stretched it out, tugged it and set it aside!10/12/2025 (5:40 PM) I just finished watching revenged love and guys my heart is aching so baaad, i need to go to Xiao Shuai's clinic HUHU.
To start off, I want to talk about that ending. Why would they leave me like that. Why would they leave me when I'm miserable knowing that it's the last episode. Especially, when the time stamp is almost reaching it's end. Why would they leave me after letting me know what Chi Cheng went through just to look for Wu Suo Wei's family tree. Not to mention Wu Sou Wei's effort and devotion when Chi Cheng is detained.
And GUYS!! that freaking end credits!!! That literally broke me. Zhan Xuan's (Guo Cheng Yue) angelic voice while the behind-the-scene photos are rolling. I'M SOBBING!! especially when it showed the pics from earlier eps. The one where it's raining, and Wu Suo Wei is pushing the tricycle as Chi Cheng got out the car to help him. Guys help me get out of this misery!!
They literally made us walk with them in different stages of their lives just to leave us at the end. I have the similar feeling when i first watched A Love So Beautiful back in 2017. That feeling of leaving you staring at the ceiling of your room as tears roll down from your eyes, while your lips form into a silly smile after finishing the drama.
But revenged love is a bit different, because I would do anything just to experience the emotions I felt while watching each episode for the first time again! I will surely miss them, SO DAMN MUCH. And I hope nothing but great things and wonderful career for the actors and for the people involve in creating this masterpiece of a series. I truly believe the statement I've read, that Revenged Love will change the standard for all BL dramas! Thank you once again.

love it so far!
loving that it's not censored! usually I finish a drama before writing a review but tbh so far it's a 10/10 from me, wish I could already binge it completely but trying to be patient even if it's though lmaosome might not like how assertive the top is, me too in a few scenes, that's up to everyone else though. personally I can handle this better than the mama/papa thing in pitbabe
some of the acting is a bit over the top but honestly that's not a big issue, I still really enjoy this blog and love especially that they added kisses! I'm excited for the upcoming episodes, if nothing ruins this within the drama itself, it could easily become one of my favorites!

THIS OFFICIALLY BECOMES THE BEST BL THIS YEAR!
It's incredible how good this series is, it truly deserves the amount of popularity it's gotten. The narrative caught my attention from the beginning, I swear, there isn't a single boring episode, 40 minutes feel like 10 minutes, and the soundtrack is perfect, Ziyu's voice is beautiful. And not to mention the visuals of the series and the actors themselves, a total gem. The actors nailed the characters, the way Chai Ji Dan chose the perfect cast! I adore her, she always gets it right! 😮💨 I'm seriously obsessed with the series at this point. I'm telling everyone, know watch and appreciate this true BL series.Anyway... I love you Tian Xuning and Ziyu, thank you for appearing in my life. Lit, there is nothing more real than Revenged Love World Domination💗

plot of a play
The plot is very attractive and the leading actor is very good.At the beginning of the story, Wu said that after breaking up with his girlfriend, he found another protagonist, Chi Cheng, with his girlfriend, and failed in several ventures, thinking that Chi Cheng did it on purpose. Although this was a misunderstanding, it was really interesting. In order to get back at his ex-girlfriend and Chi Cheng, Wu Weiwei actually thought of seducing Chi Cheng. Although this idea is bizarre, people can't help but watch it.Was this review helpful to you?
A Fresh, Twisty Romance with Stellar Chemistry and Big Heart
I’ve been binge-watching RL these days, and wow, it’s such a pleasant surprise! The story’s super bold and fresh, told from a really unique angle. That whole “going after your rival’s boyfriend” setup is so new and catchy—revenge mixed with romance, and the plot’s full of twists that keep you glued to the screen the whole time. The production’s top-notch too: the visuals look great, the music fits the mood perfectly, and they’ve nailed all the little details. The actors kill it, especially Ziyu and Tian Xuning—they really make their characters feel real. Every look and expression has so much depth, and their chemistry? Off the charts! Their scenes together had me smiling like a total sap the whole time.
It’s not just some regular romance show, either. It talks about love, growing up, and figuring out who you are, which makes you think. Seriously, totally recommend it to everyone!
