A Messy Disappointment
Let me start out by saying I heard great things about this drama and was excited to watch it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations at all.By the end of the show, I didn’t like any of the characters. I have no problem with them being morally grey, but honestly almost everyone in this drama is a terrible person.
Chi Cheng starts the show by stealing his friend’s man and then ordering a group of men to SA him. Then he meets Wu Suowei and suddenly becomes a soft boy, with the exception of personal boundaries. This man told Wu Suowei’s best friend, the Doctor,, that he would SA him if he didn’t trick Wu Suowei into giving it up! WTH?! I would dump a mofo so fast if he said that to my best friend. So their first encounter was forced by Chi Cheng. Then when poor Wu Suowei is sore the next day, Chi Cheng proceeds to laugh at him. You hurt him and that’s funny to you?! Subsequently after that, there are plenty more scenes where Chi Cheng carries him (WS) off while he’s yelling for help and resisting. Gross.
I found Wu Suowei to be annoying. Why did he never address the problems they were having? How about “hey I saw your ex boyfriend get in your car and leave with you, and then you didn’t come home all night”. Or “I caught you making out with your ex in the yard”.. He witnesses all this terrible behavior and then never addresses it! He just gets sad. And the constant fake crying was on my last nerve.
I started out liking the Doctor but then he started heavily manipulating Wu Suowei for his own selfish reasons. To be fair, Wu Suowei did pay him back for some of that.
Yue Yue, apparently the only dateable woman in their world, is a pretty but incredibly annoying gold digger with no redeemable qualities. I can understand why Wu Suowei liked her (he’s annoying as well) but Chi Cheng? I feel like he wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes dealing with her fake act. And you’re telling me he put up with her on a trip for 5 days straight? Nah homie, I don’t believe that.
Guo was the one character I somewhat liked. To me, he was a much better boyfriend than Chi Cheng. I like that he got revenge on the man that hurt the Doctor. And he bakes beautiful cakes!
I feel like the story line lost the plot. What happened to the snakes? Where did Yue Yue go? Why did so many of the characters completely change personality?
Random thoughts: I’m fully convinced there was something going on between Guo and Chi Cheng. I saw those videos. Those were not friend vibes.
Does anyone else think the couples should have been Guo & Chi Cheng and Wu Suowei & the Doctor? I get the whole “opposites attract” but I feel like those pairings would be a lot healthier for everyone involved.
I rated this a 3, because there were moments of good chemistry and acting. However, I couldn’t bring myself to root for this couple.

The first half is great, but...
This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review for a drama, but I just had conflicting feelings about this series. The first half was solid; good acting, good pacing, and the story was entertaining. But after that, the enjoyable moments felt fewer and further between. The show did not have to be this long. It felt like we had reached a satisfying ending around the halfway point, and then it just kept going, becoming more drama for the sake of drama rather than a cohesive story. The moment that infuriated me the most was the third-act misunderstanding, which is unfortunately a common trope in romantic fiction, though sometimes it can be executed well; this was not one of those times. It felt incredibly out of character for Suo Wei to lie when confronted. That just reeked of forced conflict to pad out the runtime, and I actually had to stop watching at that point and continue later because it was making me emotional in all the wrong ways. I'm just glad Chi didn't then go and hook up with his ex, that probably would've made me drop the series completely.
Obviously there were moments in the back half that were necessary, like resolving Xiao Shuai and Cheng Yu's storyline and the unfortunate fate of Wu's mom, which was such a gripping scene. If some of the fat was removed, and if the breakup hadn't been so ridiculous and out of left field, this would definitely have a higher rating.

i'm obsessed
Finished this drama yesterday and I refuse to let it go, so I already started rewatching all Chi Cheng & Wu Suowei scenes...This one defo became my new comfort drama - despite some flaws I'm so obsessed with it. It's funny cuz when I started a 1st ep a few days ago I wasn't expecting much, just wanted to find sth to fill my time. And now I have a withdrawal syndrome...
I want to say that thing which makes this drama so special is not the story itself, which has some flaws, but its characters - love them all so much.
This story starts with our straight guy deciding to get revenge on the guy who "stole" his gf and I laughed so much watching our silly friends duo (Wu Suowei & Xiaoshuai) scheming to lure Chi Cheng into trap, Suowei's staright guy panic moments were pure gold and Chi Cheng determination to get him laid... I think I was looking forward to it even more than Chi Cheng :D
Wu Suowei: I love how despite being staright at the beginning he was so determined to win over Chi Cheng. Watching him slowly lured by Chi Cheng charms was sweet. I like how he switched from avoiding physcial contact at all to proactively engagin it in the end. He's little silly but I like he's not typical soft & passive bottom, he's scheming, but at the same time also very sincere in his actions and also beign able to realize his previous misjudgments about Chi Cheng.
Chi Cheng: Ugh, idk even know how to describe my feelings towards this character - I'm such a sucker for bad boys who are ready to do everything for their loved ones. But at first I want to praise the actor! Tian really outdone this role - before watching this drama I didn't even know it's possible to deliver all these kinky scenes without making them cringe - but damn, I was so wrong! He not only managed to not making them feel cringe, but all of them were so damn hot, like I swear, mad respect. No need to say how much I had to fan myself during them...
At first Chi Cheng is driven by his lust, but due to Suowei actions we can see how he gets interested in him more and more, slowly falling in love with him and letting go of his past, to finally get so hooked by him that he literally worships him. I loved his character growth and how he portrayed all transitions in his feelings towards Suowei. I could feel all his lust, his pain and his deep love for Suowei.
Chi Cheng & Wu Suowei chemistry is off the charts, they both have their flaws, but both their relationship and character growth is really good and feeling very natural.
I also love 2nd leads couple! They are so sweet togather and also devoted friends to Chi Cheng and Wu Suowei. I enjoyed all scenes with them as well and I'm happy about how their arc was resolved.
What I loved:
- great chemistry
- damn hot scenes (praise Tian!)
- all comedy moments
- character & relationship growth
- friendship between all 4 of them
What I didn't like:
- miscommuniaction/misunderstaing in 2nd half trope dragged too long imo and could be easily resolved earlier (please, i beg u, communication is not rly that hard, wish for directors to stop overusing this trope so much... i rly hate it)
- when above was finally resolved we had another obstacle, which felt totally unnecessary for me
- cuz of both of things mentioned above I feel like we had less Chi Chen & Wu Suowei moments in 2nd half than in 1st one :(((
Generally, despite some flaws, I rly love this drama and would 1000000% recommend it! And please, please, dont let one scene in 1st ep ruin Chi Cheng character for you - I also hated this scene and don't think it was necessary at all and I know it may be big trigger for some, but I beg you, don't let it ruin whole character - cuz Chi Cheng is much more than that.
EDIT: GUYS SEND HELP, PLS. I've rewatched it 3 times already and I still can't let it go... Chi Cheng literally ruined me..............

love it so far!
loving that it's not censored! usually I finish a drama before writing a review but tbh so far it's a 10/10 from me, wish I could already binge it completely but trying to be patient even if it's though lmaosome might not like how assertive the top is, me too in a few scenes, that's up to everyone else though. personally I can handle this better than the mama/papa thing in pitbabe
some of the acting is a bit over the top but honestly that's not a big issue, I still really enjoy this blog and love especially that they added kisses! I'm excited for the upcoming episodes, if nothing ruins this within the drama itself, it could easily become one of my favorites!

An overrated piece of BL slop
Alternative title: the most disappointing BL experience I've ever had.I was so excited to start this show. Everyone spoke so highly of it, and I was so prepared to come out of it with a new favorite BL. So imagine my disappointment when all I'm met with is romanticization of abuse, casual depictions of rape, a poor excuse of a plot, animal abuse, and one of the most disgusting and annoying male leads I've ever had the disgrace of watching.
I hate Chi Cheng. I cannot understand why so many women are infatuated by this fucking asshole that will never know the definition of "accountability." He deserves absolutely everything bad that happens to him, no matter how much this show wants to convince you that he has a "tragic backstory". You know what the worst part is? It fucking works. Many people have actually been manipulated to feel bad and even cry for him. Give me a break. He's an awful human being who NEVER CHANGES.
Oh, what? He's an animal abuser? He encourages sexual assault? He allowed his subordinates to gang rape a dude (on the first damn episode, jesus christ)? He's heavily implied to have sexually assaulted people in the past? He threatens rape to get what he wants? No, no, those are just cute little quirks of his! He's actually a really nice guy when you get to know him, guys, trust. But seriously, I was so sick of the way this show plays off its dark themes as either humorous or romantic. No, it's not cute nor funny to see the main lead sexually manipulate the protagonist by threatening to rape his best friend. It doesn't fucking matter that he wasn't actually going to do it, IT'S SEXUAL MANIPULATION.
But Chi Cheng isn't the only problem with this stupid show. Its plot (if you could even call it that) is haphazardly glued together and chock-full of conveniences. Its tone is painfully inconsistent. Actually, everything is inconsistent. Wei Wei and the doctor are either smart as hell or brain-rotted idiots, depending on what the story needs at the moment. This show is also painfully misogynistic and even homophobic, ironically enough.
I'm too lazy to go into detail on the many flaws of this BL (and it's just not worth it), so I'm just going to summarize its bad points and (few) good points.
THE BAD:
-Barely-there plot reminiscent of your typical mediocre soap opera.
-Horrible main lead with little to no character development.
-Romantization of abuse, sexual and otherwise.
-Inconsistent tone.
-Corny drama.
-One-dimensional, annoying villains.
-Misogyny.
-Homophobia and fetishization of gay people.
THE GOOD:
-Good acting, particularly from Wei Wei's part.
-Good chemistry between the main actors (too bad it's wasted on this).
-Very funny for the most part (when the humour is not about normalizing SA), you'll rarely get bored in this department.
-Good soundtrack, I guess?
That's it. If you can turn off your brain and you don't mind the blatant abuse and shitty story, you may enjoy this show for the eye-candy and the humour. But if you're like me and you can't, don't bother trying to like this garbage just because it's popular. It's not worth it.
PS: Chi Cheng, please kys.

THIS OFFICIALLY BECOMES THE BEST BL THIS YEAR!
It's incredible how good this series is, it truly deserves the amount of popularity it's gotten. The narrative caught my attention from the beginning, I swear, there isn't a single boring episode, 40 minutes feel like 10 minutes, and the soundtrack is perfect, Ziyu's voice is beautiful. And not to mention the visuals of the series and the actors themselves, a total gem. The actors nailed the characters, the way Chai Ji Dan chose the perfect cast! I adore her, she always gets it right! 😮💨 I'm seriously obsessed with the series at this point. I'm telling everyone, know watch and appreciate this true BL series.Anyway... I love you Tian Xuning and Ziyu, thank you for appearing in my life. Lit, there is nothing more real than Revenged Love World Domination💗

plot of a play
The plot is very attractive and the leading actor is very good.At the beginning of the story, Wu said that after breaking up with his girlfriend, he found another protagonist, Chi Cheng, with his girlfriend, and failed in several ventures, thinking that Chi Cheng did it on purpose. Although this was a misunderstanding, it was really interesting. In order to get back at his ex-girlfriend and Chi Cheng, Wu Weiwei actually thought of seducing Chi Cheng. Although this idea is bizarre, people can't help but watch it.Was this review helpful to you?
A Fresh, Twisty Romance with Stellar Chemistry and Big Heart
I’ve been binge-watching RL these days, and wow, it’s such a pleasant surprise! The story’s super bold and fresh, told from a really unique angle. That whole “going after your rival’s boyfriend” setup is so new and catchy—revenge mixed with romance, and the plot’s full of twists that keep you glued to the screen the whole time. The production’s top-notch too: the visuals look great, the music fits the mood perfectly, and they’ve nailed all the little details. The actors kill it, especially Ziyu and Tian Xuning—they really make their characters feel real. Every look and expression has so much depth, and their chemistry? Off the charts! Their scenes together had me smiling like a total sap the whole time.
It’s not just some regular romance show, either. It talks about love, growing up, and figuring out who you are, which makes you think. Seriously, totally recommend it to everyone!

Not lovewatching not hatewatching but a third other thing: watching to snark about it on feeds
I have good news and I have bad news. Bad news is I read about 41% of this book, so I am 100% making half of this review about the book! I'm sorry; this is a double review and a character analysis to boot! Sorry! The good news is the book was so bad, it made me appreciate the show more! lolSo I finished this show, and despite the potato quality, I am once again here to proclaim that Chinese BLs just hit different! And I say this, feeling like this show was trying to imitate the mainstream Thai BL style. It was still better! It's like China's curse: They are the perfect people to make BLs! (What's the joke? Born to produce BLs, forced to follow regulations)
As you may have noticed, I gave this show a 7.5, which must stand out in the sea of 8s and 9s and 10s this show is racking up but I want you to know that this is amazing. I was gonna give this show a 6 but it managed to make me want to raise the rating to a 7.5 and personally I think it's a great achievement because I physically could not give it a higher rating. It's not even the low budget or quality, it's that the cringe-factor of this show was too high for me to enjoy it any more than a 7.5! I had so many moments of secondhand embarrassment when I had to stop and walk around to stop the queasiness. I can't give this any higher a rating. Some of the dialogue was just too embarrassing and weird...who talks like that?!
But it's not the show's fault entirely; a lot of that weird stuff comes straight out of the book, which is, to be honest, too bad to have been adapted. Like, who looked at that mess and thought "hmmm, this is gonna be the most successful Chinese BL of ALL time! We HAVE to adapt this!!!" A genius person to see the potential in that mess but like...I am sure there were better options!
You see, the problem with this show/book is not even the explicit parts or the horniness or the romanticization of red flags...the worst thing about this book is the fundamental misunderstanding about human sexuality AND anatomy! Miss Author did NOT research being a gay before writing this, and it shows. Serious talk: This story shows queerness in a predatory, perverted manner, and I don't mean that they do horny stuff, oh, how dare they! It's how the gay characters impose their sexuality on others that was insulting and insensitive. There is basically no gay character who isn't shown in some predatory manner here, and that made me uncomfortable. I wish the show had taken the liberty of changing all of that and also fixing the truly embarrassing goofs they spew as facts in the big year of 2025, but unfortunately, the show has all of that mess in it. Sometimes loyalty to source material is worse (NOT YOU, FENNELL! YOU GO TO JAIL FOR DOING *THAT* TO WUTHERING HEIGHTS!) Here, the show could have been less similar to the book.
They did try, to their credit. Characters like Guo Cheng Yu and Jiang Xiao Shuai are whitewashed a lot. Our resident bad boys are not just bad boys in the book. They are just bad! lol! Like, sure! Show!Chi Cheng is a bad enemy to have; you are screwed for sure if he hates you! But as far as being a lover goes, if he really loves you, you are so lucky! He is gonna break his heart every time you cry! That's sweet! I mean the book had that too but the other stuff was just too much! Because, in the book, it's implied that Chi Cheng is into extreme sadism. The show doesn't go to the extremes that the book goes to demonstrate this. I'm really glad because I feel like maybe Miss Author also didn't know enough about BDSM to use it correctly and just used it as an edgy trait to show how dangerous Chi Cheng is. 'Cause what she described wasn't sadism, it was attempted murder. I'm glad Chi Cheng is just a red flag in the show!
But really. The heteronormative labeling of gay relationships, the misunderstandings of how intimate relationships work or what queerness even means...just... it was a bit bothersome. So know that sexuality is a spectrum. Bisexuality exists. There are no inherent positions in a same sex relationship, and people switch. You have to prepare for intimate relationships in advance; the care is necessary and detailed and very important, and Jiang Xiao Shuai really should have told Wu Suo Wei that no straight man would have even come up with the plot to seduce a love rival for revenge to begin with!!!!
There's also just so many silly bits in the story. I lost count of how many times I was choking on nervous laughter while watching the show. All at inappropriate times! None of this was the show's fault. 90% of these scenes were straight from the book. This is why I raised the rating, btw. I can't be mad at a show that was so loyal to the source material and did such a good job of bringing it all to life despite budget restrictions and the Chinese censorship laws. They worked hard! And there were certain elements that I liked. The overall plot works even if the details make no sense. And the emotional investment is enough to keep you guessing and binging, and by the time we reach the emotional climax of the show, my heart hurt for these kids. So kudos to them for achieving maximum investment in the story with barely any flashy story tactics.
The acting...I didn't love the acting. Someone recently said this, and it has since ruined about 70% of the shows I watch. They said: "You can tell they're acting"...WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME AWARE OF THIS?! It's like when someone makes you aware of your breathing and then you spend 20 minutes being extra cautious of your breathing and feeling like you're choking (I'm sorry.) So now, every time I watch a show, I'm like "hmmm, that's acting" ugh. Well, I got that feeling a lot and not just that but the "omg, I'm in a BL, what am I doing with my career?!" look in some of their eyes throughout the show was killing me! Like, this could have ruined so many careers, so fair enough! But then, when you know all of this, and that thought is in your head too, the whole viewing experience is tainted. I was both aware that these are all actors, and that made me aware of just how dangerous this project is, and that I couldn't believe we were getting this show in 2025 from China! So a lot was going through my mind. I don't think they're bad actors. I just think they are still far from hitting their peak, and the director maybe demanded a theatrical acting style from them and some of them had to stick to some pet peeves to make it through. That said, you can never go wrong with hiring a hot 97-line guy as the hot guy in your show and this show did it twice in a row...game acknowledged *tips hat*
I loved the music! lol! I think Cdramas should use public domain music more often. They matched the mood of the scenes so well and I have only good memories of the music in the background. The production is visibly not very high quality or expensive but I think they blew it all on getting expensive sets for the rich people's homes and the snakes and that's a good place to put the money in. because they otherwise had no money left for other stuff like prison sets, extras in the background, clothes (this is good because they had to stick to clear styles for each character and have repeat outfits which added realism), music...like basically, everything was put together with spit and while sometimes that made stuff goofy and unserious, overall I think it worked in favor of the show.
I might actually rewatch some scenes! lol!
Negatives: As for the negative points of this show: TOO MANY SNAKES! The ick was real and there, and I had to cover the screen so many times, yikes! If you are really scared and disgusted by snakes like me, RIP! It's hard to get through those scenes. Shoutout to Vinegar though! That was one tolerable snake!
I explained the rest above, but you know, someone said, "all BLs are toxic because men are incapable of healthy relationships and BLs have two men" and... like...okay, harsh but... (yes, not aLl mEN, I know.)yikes...
Overall: This is mandatory BL viewing now. Like, this is too iconic to avoid! The show has issues but don't kill the messenger. Miss Author just didn't know anything, and the production team ran with it. It's worth watching for the makeout sessions if for nothing else! The hypernevtialtion of knowing they made this in Mainland China gives you enough adrenaline rush to make it through the whole thing in one amnesiac binge-sitting! What's not to like?!

The pain of finishing this series is insufferable.
Revenged love literally took my heart out, played with it, stretched it out, tugged it and set it aside!10/12/2025 (5:40 PM) I just finished watching revenged love and guys my heart is aching so baaad, i need to go to Xiao Shuai's clinic HUHU.
To start off, I want to talk about that ending. Why would they leave me like that. Why would they leave me when I'm miserable knowing that it's the last episode. Especially, when the time stamp is almost reaching it's end. Why would they leave me after letting me know what Chi Cheng went through just to look for Wu Suo Wei's family tree. Not to mention Wu Sou Wei's effort and devotion when Chi Cheng is detained.
And GUYS!! that freaking end credits!!! That literally broke me. Zhan Xuan's (Guo Cheng Yue) angelic voice while the behind-the-scene photos are rolling. I'M SOBBING!! especially when it showed the pics from earlier eps. The one where it's raining, and Wu Suo Wei is pushing the tricycle as Chi Cheng got out the car to help him. Guys help me get out of this misery!!
They literally made us walk with them in different stages of their lives just to leave us at the end. I have the similar feeling when i first watched A Love So Beautiful back in 2017. That feeling of leaving you staring at the ceiling of your room as tears roll down from your eyes, while your lips form into a silly smile after finishing the drama.
But revenged love is a bit different, because I would do anything just to experience the emotions I felt while watching each episode for the first time again! I will surely miss them, SO DAMN MUCH. And I hope nothing but great things and wonderful career for the actors and for the people involve in creating this masterpiece of a series. I truly believe the statement I've read, that Revenged Love will change the standard for all BL dramas! Thank you once again.
