I Can’t Believe I Hadn’t Written a Review When It Finished
First, I’m really ecstatic that it DID finish. I’m happy the Chinese are finding their way around censorship laws!Chinese BLs are turning out to be my current faves! (ABO Desire, Meet You at the Blossom, To My Shore)
That said, this is a wonderful series, with 4 handsome MLs. The acting is good, the writing is excellent—it’s cute, witty, humorous, and heartwarming , as well.
I’m not going to rehash the story for people, but I AM, already, rewatching it! It’s just as good, if not BETTER, the second time.

It’s not just about revenge - it’s about power, obsession, and emotions out of control.
Revenged Love is intense, addictive, and full of emotional tension that never really lets you relax. It’s the kind of story where every interaction feels loaded with hidden meaning, and nothing between the characters is ever as simple as it looks on the surface. At the center is Wu Suo Wei, who starts off feeling underestimated and pushed aside by life in general. He’s not someone who begins the story with power or confidence - instead, he’s sharp in a more reactive way. A lot of his decisions come from frustration and a need to prove himself, especially after being hurt or looked down on. What makes him interesting is that his “revenge” mindset slowly gets tangled with feelings he doesn’t expect, which forces him to question what he actually wants versus what he thinks he wants.
Then there’s Chi Cheng, who is wealthy, confident, and emotionally hard to read at first. He comes off as someone who is always in control, like nothing really shakes him. But as the story develops, you start to see that his interest in Wu Suo Wei isn’t just casual or playful - it becomes something much more complicated. He doesn’t express emotions in an obvious way, but his actions start showing consistency, attention, and a level of investment that slowly pulls everything into deeper territory.
Their dynamic is built on conflict, misunderstanding, and constant emotional push-and-pull. At first, it feels like it’s all about manipulation and revenge, but over time it becomes harder to separate intention from feeling. Every argument, every chase, every moment of control between them starts shifting into something more personal. It’s messy, unstable, and unpredictable - but that’s exactly what makes it so gripping.
What really stands out is how the story keeps blurring the line between revenge and affection. You’re never fully sure whether they’re trying to outplay each other or actually getting pulled closer without realizing it. That tension is what drives the entire series and makes every scene feel charged.
Overall, Revenged Love is chaotic, emotional, and completely addictive. If you love toxic-to-slow-burn dynamics, intense chemistry, and relationships that constantly blur the line between hate and attraction - this is the kind of series that pulls you in and refuses to let go.

I really loved both couples
I came across this drama while searching for BLs with at most one black flag main character. Despite my initial doubts, I ended up finding the plot surprisingly captivating. Wu Suo Wei’s (WSW) scheming was one of my favorite aspects, especially because the drama doesn’t romanticize it blindly: we also see his inner conflict and emotional struggle, particularly since he identifies as straight at the beginning. That added an interesting layer to his character development. In my opinion, the drama also does a great job of integrating WSW’s financial background. His poverty and resulting frugality are not played off as a joke but are meaningfully woven into the narrative. What I found especially interesting was how his relationship with money is reflected in his romantic relationships — and how this attitude gradually evolves as he grows emotionally and becomes more secure in his feelings.
The shared hobby of snake breeding was a refreshing and unusual element. It felt new and added a mix of visual appeal, tension, and emotional symbolism — combining a certain “hotness factor” with genuine storytelling.
On top of that, the chemistry between Chi Cheng (CC) and WSW was definitely there. While there is some miscommunication (or lack of communication) leading to jealousy and misunderstandings, their interactions were overall humorous and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the softer, more intimate moments, like the firecracker scene or the interactions with WSW’s mother. That said, there were a few plotlines that felt somewhat odd or unnecessary — the kidnapping storyline in particular stood out as strange.
What really elevated the drama for me, though, was the side couple: Guo Cheng Yu (GCY) and Jiang Xiao Shuai (JXS). Often, side couples are either so uninteresting that I skip their scenes or so compelling that I wish they had more screentime than the main couple. Here, however, I genuinely loved both couples equally. JXS’s clinic served as a great setting for exploring the consequences of WSW’s scheming and his emotional turmoil. I also appreciated how the relationships gradually evolved into genuine friendships. By the end, all four characters form a surprisingly harmonious and well-balanced friend group — especially considering how much GCY and CC clashed at the beginning. JXS, in particular, acts as a comforting presence for GCY, and their relationship is refreshingly low on unnecessary drama. Their dynamic felt warm, natural, and emotionally safe, which was a nice contrast to the more chaotic energy of the main couple.
As for the technical aspects: the OST was fitting and pleasant, though not particularly memorable. The rewatch value of the series is quite high — especially since it inspired me to start reading the novel "Counterattack". I would absolutely not recommend reading the novel before watching the drama. I’m very glad the adaptation made significant changes e.g. the brick scene(s). After finishing the series, however, it’s interesting to compare the two. The novel itself reads like a light, trashy fanfiction — which I personally enjoy as casual entertainment (no offense intended to fans; this is purely my personal opinion).
In conclusion, I do think Revenged Love is somewhat overhyped, which can raise expectations a little too high. Still, it’s genuinely enjoyable and has become one of my favorite BL dramas so far.
P.S.: If you enjoyed the scheming aspect at the beginning — trying to win over another man’s heart — I can also recommend the Chinese BL "ABO Desire". Apart from that similarity, the two dramas are quite different, though.

IT'S SOO GOOD
Revenged Love is literally my fav 2025 series and I’m not even exaggerating. Nothing hits the same. From episode one I was hooked and it just kept getting better. The teasing??? The tension??? The way they look at each other??? It’s insane. Their chemistry feels so natural and intense at the same time. Every little smirk and playful moment had me screaming and kicking my feet 😭😭
And the MUSIC??? Don’t even get me started. The background melodies during the emotional scenes made everything hurt 10x more. Every time the soft instrumental plays it just hits straight in the heart 😭 The soundtrack fits every scene perfectly, whether it’s playful teasing or full-on emotional damage.
It’s not just cute romance either. It actually makes you feel stuff. The emotional scenes had me staring at my screen in silence like why am I this attached 😭
I still can’t move on. Revenged Love isn’t just a show, it’s my comfort series and my 2025 obsession. No one is doing it like this 😭💗

A believable BL story that will have you rooting for the main characters
Not sure how I stumbled upon this drama but I’m glad I stayed to the end because the characters were so believable and the plot was (mainly) really good. This is, simply put, a story about redemption, trust and love.
The story starts out as simple revenge where the innocent and naive male protagonist (Wu Suowei) is dumped by his gold digger of a girlfriend (Yue Yue) who is dissatisfied by his financial status. She then goes hunting for a wealthy boyfriend and hones in on Chi Cheng the jaded, bored gay son of a wealthy chairman who is being pressured into marriage by his unsuspecting parents. Wu Suowei decides to break her heart by pretending to be interested in Chi Cheng in the hopes of splitting them up and goes from a straight man to a man who “I don’t know if I like men or not, but I like you”. The story not only covers these two men, but another couple Jiang Xiao Shuai (Wu Suowei’s best friend) and Guo Chengyu (Chi Chang’s bestie) and their developing relationship.
There are plot twists and turns, funny bits, sad bits as well as a few more characters who try to muddy the waters between Wu Suowei and Chi Cheng. Their developing feelings and reactions to these situations all add honesty and credibility to both this story and the characters they portray.
The only part of the plot that I found ludicrous was when Chi Chang’s father decided to kidnap Wu Suowei. The ensuing scenes may have made more sense in the mother tongue but certainly were of little value to the overall plot when google translate ( or whatever software they used - it clearly wasn’t translated by a human) got involved. I deducted points for this bizarre chapter, although I’m guessing the father was trying to persuade Wu Suowei to stay away from his son.
Would I watch this again? Absolutely but with headphones on and no one else around to see the seriously steamy ‘sex’ scenes. Kudos to the straight actors for making it all so believable.

Maybe not for everyone, but definitively for some.
a little bit of why I like this bl or to maybe understand why i actually liked it and enjoyed it: long story short the director of this show is a female so no shit its gonna be good, but secondly she directed a completely different bl way back in the day called '' Addicted '' and i got HOOKED on that bl. I really love chinese/taiwanese bl's and this hit the spot. I liked addicted for the story and the characters the acting is questionable at times and some choices are a bit odd, and overall because bl back then when it was shot it didnt have huge budgets or leeways as now and was quite odd i can forgive them but i have to admit looking at it now its a bit cringe but nevertheless i still enjoy it.I dont remember 100% what was in the story as i watched this series a long time ago but I know that i really liked it. This series blew my mind because it portrayed the kind of chinese dramas that i usually see, the style, the lighting, the characters, the places they choose, the little clinic and the mother having health problems, WuSoWei living in the country side and having a cute little house from his childhood. I cant explain what i liked, I just know that this drama was something that i've been meaning to see in bl for a long time (Specifically in chinese bl) but about the ''gang rape '' or violence, I dont remember that at all, there could of been something like that but i really dont remember any scene having gang violence or rape? Im speculating here but if i remember correctly most of it was consensual.. yea chi cheng wasnt the most on consent but thats cause wusowei provoked him and pestered around him. Also, Chi cheng never pressed on if he didnt want to, so really, I dont know where the talk of gang rape or group rape even came from..
Edit: yes i do, a guy betrayed chi cheng so he left him with a group of bulky guy's and from the context given from their talk and the room they did indeed rape him. I however dont see this as a flaw in the story as it portrays Chi cheng's character very well, he is a boss, he deals with thugs, he has a whole underground snake fight that he deals in, theres a lot of sketchy things he and wusowei do so i feel like that part in the story just adds more context and rawness to the kind of business that he does. But you tell me, what do you think of it or the aspect of including such things into the story.
however beside all of that I really recommend this series, watch it for yourself and see if you like it or not everyone seems to be divided on this matter.

Very good watch
This show was genuinely really fun to watch but towards the end it starts getting into weirder territory there’s 24 episodes and as I was finishing up the show I can’t help but think were any of these storylines necessary? I loved the idea but the show sometimes would flip on its values. Like one of the main characters is in a mafia family and he would do bad things but then would be disgusted by others for doing similar things. Pretty much at the end I noticed it because they’d be quick to kill anyone but then a character who is specifically messing with their relationship and has been horrible to them he’s not gonna kill but then he’ll kill (or he’d beat up can’t remember if he really killed anyone) people as a one off thing. (I watched this a while ago so I’m not sure if I’m being so correct.) last thing was that they’d bring up plots and then never address it like they were weird questions that never got answers which just made it seem worse bc why would you bring it up as a plot point to never be discussed and it just made me wonder how if that’s true.In short story felt a bit incomplete in some ways and felt like they were trying to stretch it out as much as they could and some parts felt inconsistent. Still it was enjoyable honestly I would just watch it up to the part where they get together and stop there after that just seems like such a mind game and just making things up to be problems and bringing up plot points that are genuinely weird and questionable just to never be answered.

Cries a river, love the development, amazing chemistry and acting
1st of all , prepare your tissues , your rage to the unjustice and unfairness and the evil of the world where money causes pain.My favourite part is the friendship amongst Dr shuai and suo wei. The cute awkward interactions and full support amongst chi cheng n guo yu. These 4 dont always speak their own minds but shows alot thru actions. They care for each other more than themselves. Everyone sacrificed something at some point for the other.
The other favourite part is seeing how the 4 main characters grow and developed. From skeptical to trusting love again. From playboy to only liking and putting all effort into 1 guy. From straight revenged to believing and loving another guy. From cold betrayed to heartwarming dedicated .
The frustration and heartbreaking part (and more m, but mainly)
Suo wei fights exes, misunderstandings, losing a family and thankfully gotten true love from being just himself and honest living.
Triggers warning for xiao shuai past... thank god guo yu is determined and loyal and didnt give up....
Guo yu also went thru alot acting nonchalant but actually care a lot for his friends...
I seriously hate the exes yue yue and the useless guy who deserved that crippled leg . They dk when to stop and have no one but themselves to blame yet kept dragging others down.
Wang shuo has problems and need to fix it. Till the end its frustrating to see almost 0 regret or changes in him. Thank god for his non biological brother being the wiser more tolerant one.
Dont want to say more , reduce the spoilers. Watch the show . Internally murder evil people in your head. Just enjoy all the heart warming scenes between real family and love.

Misguided revenge turned into love
Revenged Love was a pleasant surprise. This is my first C-drama, and to be completely honest, I didn’t have many expectations as I tried to stay away from the hype when it came out because I wasn’t sure it would be my cup of tea. In the end, I think I was wholly unprepared for how much I ended up loving this drama and its characters. The first couple of episodes felt a bit slow, and the action was clunky at the beginning. However, once the chemistry between Wu Suo Wei and Chi Cheng started to spark, that’s when it really got good!
The relationship between the main leads develops at a nice pace; even if it felt a bit rushed due to the whole ‘revenge’ aspect of the plot, Chi Cheng doesn’t take any of Wu Suo Wei’s nonsense. He gives as much as he takes, which made their relationship feel genuinely gradual and well-paced.
I also appreciated that most characters had depth and struggles. There were enough episodes to explore all of them properly. The bromance between Chi Cheng and Guo Cheng Yu (yes, I will call it a bromance because it definitely is!), Jiang Xiao Shuai’s previous relationship trauma, and Wang Shuo and Wang Zhen’s family issues were all strong plotlines that kept me engaged even after the couples got together.
The only character that really annoyed me was Yue Yue. I want to say she was crucial to the plot, but she genuinely wasn’t. Yue Yue was just there to be entitled, a gold digger, and the supposed reason for Wu Suo Wei’s revenge. However, once that was resolved, she just disappeared. Unfortunately, her character felt irrelevant, and I’m annoyed because they could have given her more personality and complexity.
Overall, I’m glad I continued watching and waited for the story to develop. This drama is truly enjoyable and engaging, and in some parts, really wholesome.

Looses the plot
Yue breaks up with Wei because he’s poor and she’s all about that rich girl life. She ends up trying to get Cheng, a cold blooded gang member that loves snakes, to like her. When Wei discovers this he decides to steal her man, period.I’ve said it a million times I love it when shows have a character with a secret and this premise was so good. This drama actually was ruining my life a bit, I only wanted to watch it. Their love story including the frisky scenes are so well executed I was in love.
This show however forgets bisexuality exists and it loses the plot completely when Yue’s plots are all tied up (she’s severely underdeveloped too) and then Cheng’s ex shows up around episode 13. There’s a few good episodes later on, especially with the father in law, but it feels like the show is just continuing for nothing and to develop the second couple. I almost stopped watching it completely after the ex kept showing up.

A bit overhyped but not bad
Personally i hate that chinese dramas are voiceovered, but thats not why i lowered the ratings. Tbh the show wasnt a hard watch, there are things i would like to change but thats my opinion. I think drama is worth watching. I liked the side couple better and i wished we got more of them. Main couple was alright but it will be amazing to people who like to watch bl's with toxic (?) couple. Story wasnt mind blowing, but it was interesting. Again, a bit overhyped but its not a hard watch. I would recommend. Was this review helpful to you?
Don't get the hype
I really wish I could see what everyone else sees in this show. Even by BL drama standards this feels poorly conceived... but the good parts are good enough that I'd say I still enjoyed it overall.First off I think 24 episodes was just way too much. By the 20th the plots went from wacky to downright nonsensical and I just stopped caring about the plot. With tighter pacing and/or less episodes I'd probably give it at least a 7.
The pairings are pretty cute but I hate the way the sex and consent (or lack thereof) was handled. Like it'd be one thing if it started toxic then turned sweet, but it feels like Chi Cheng never stopped being a manipulative weirdo. How they didn't break up after he literally threatened to rape Suo Wei's best friend is beyond me.
I will say I still liked the characters overall thanks to the actors. Though once someone pointed out how the mics pick up on every single little sound/breath they make I couldn't stop hearing it.
Ultimately if this was a show that came out 10 or even 5 years ago I feel like I could've really liked it, but for 2025 it feels painfully dated.
