Didn’t Expect to Love It This Much… But Here I am!
I’m still honestly shocked at how much this series got to me. When I first pressed play, I thought I was setting myself up for disappointment. I had such high expectations at the beginning, but then I lowered them because, well… it’s a Chinese BL. If you’ve watched enough, you know there are limits compared to Taiwanese BLs, and I wasn’t sure the story could really deliver. But wow, they completely proved me wrong. From the start, I was pulled in. The storyline is messy, dramatic, funny, and heartbreaking all at the same time, and that’s exactly what made it work for me. I laughed out loud at the ridiculous banter and chaotic schemes, and then, a few minutes later, I’d be crying like crazy because of how raw and emotional the scenes turned. I lost count of how many times this series messed with my feelings, but I kind of loved every second of it.
The relationship between Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei felt surprisingly real. Watching them together didn’t give me the usual over-the-top BL tropes, it actually felt like watching two straight guys trying to navigate a relationship, with all its awkwardness, sweetness, and tension. The way they handled their conflicts was so unexpectedly gentle, yet still firm in the right moments. Honestly, that’s what drew me in the most. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this kind of vibe in another series before, and it made their chemistry unforgettable.
Episodes 18 and 19? Oh my gosh. Easily the most heartbreaking stretch of the entire show. I had to stop for a couple of days just to recover. And yes, I’m still blaming Suo Wei’s mother for stirring up so much unnecessary conflict. If not for her meddling, maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so dramatic. I was frustrated, upset, and yet weirdly grateful, because those episodes wrecked me in the best way.
Now, I’ll admit, not everything was perfect. The last two episodes, for me, were the weakest part. Honestly, if they had cut those out, I’d probably be rating this series a perfect score. The subplot with Chi Cheng’s family conflict felt way too easy to resolve, almost like the writers rushed through it. It didn’t hit as hard as the rest of the story, and it left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.
Still, even with its flaws, this drama kept me entertained and emotionally hooked from start to finish. The chemistry was real, and the emotional payoff was worth every tear and every laugh. It’s not just a revenge story but about unexpected feelings, messy love, and how relationships can surprise us when we least expect it.
So yeah, I went in doubtful, but came out obsessed. This one left a mark on me, and I think it’s going to stick in my mind for a long time.

Revenged Love may be my BL of the year
The main couple’s chemistry was intense and carried by a solid main plot that kept me hooked. Their connections felt very real, not just surface-level.The themes were ones I genuinely enjoy seeing in BL dramas, with a unique and different twist that made them stand out. Although the side couple didn’t stand out to me as much as wo suowei and chi cheng, it didn’t matter since the main story was strong enough to keep my full attention throughout. definitely one of the best bl i watched in 2025, I really recommend you to watch.

Not perfect, but hooked me
I watched it twice to write this review.
Let’s start by saying this is definitely not the best BL drama in terms of plot – it has plenty of flaws, like most productions. The series also shows toxic behaviors and doesn’t draw any consequences from them.
Chi Cheng is a walking red flag. Do I even need to explain why forcing Da Bao into intimacy is disgusting? Of course, they had to add the SA subplot to a dark romance. Da Bao also had his own personal issues, which made them a perfect, albeit twisted, match.
I also read the original Wattpad story, which was terrible, and the series really improved on it. They made the characters a bit less toxic – if I can even call it that.
Even though I’ve watched a lot of cringy BL dramas, this one wasn’t that bad. It actually made me laugh several times, which doesn’t happen often.
Personally, I didn’t like the subplot with the second couple, Cheng Yu and Xiao Shuai – I think it was unnecessary.
Yet somehow, it’s still addicting.
No BL series has ever made me so excited for the next episode while rewatching the previous ones multiple times.
I personally think Ziyu and Tian had the best chemistry I’ve ever seen in the BL world – not just as their characters, but also in real life. They acted their roles so well that it was incredibly easy to connect with their emotions. Every breakup in the series hit me as if it were real. Honestly, no other drama has ever done that to me the way Revenged Love did.
Regarding the plot, many people complain about the snakes, but to me, they added a unique touch and a dark atmosphere.
And the soundtrack is a total banger that really stuck with me.
I think Chinese BL dramas in general are very well done, despite there being so few of them due to censorship, and Revenged Love still delivered.

Unlike many BL (Boys' Love) dramas, Revenged Love boasts good production quality that is noticeable in the urban cinematography, costume design, and a soundtrack that avoids typical clichés.
The plot moves quickly, offering constant twists and a tone that blends the chaotic humor of comedy with intense drama, keeping you hooked throughout its 24 episodes.
The protagonists, especially the enigmatic Chi Cheng (the heir obsessed with snakes), are charismatic and complex, making it easy to get invested in their messy relationship.
The script relies on many BL genre clichés, including exaggerated rivals, lack of communication, and highly melodramatic situations, but the relationship between Suowei and Chi Cheng is full of sexual and emotional tension.
Revenged Love is the ideal drama if you are looking for a passionate, dark, and drama-filled love story that steers clear of sweetness. However, if you prefer light dramas and characters with an "impeccable moral code," this might not be the drama you are looking for.

So fun and engaging
I m obsessed with this series. It is fantastic so fun and both couples are interesting. It is my first time unable to choose a favorite couple, both are great. Don t mind the bad reviews, most probably are weird fans upset bc there was some controversy ab the show being canceled due to Chinese censorship, then having postponed 2 episode. Everything is fine and back on track. Was this review helpful to you?

great series for those who loves bl
great casting , great story, i have always been loving Chaijidan for her books, counter attack has been my must-reread every year--only for those who has low moral sensitivity like me. honestly i dont mind the murders, SAs, or even any other illegal activity in the book because i have separated it from the reality, which i think is an ability those who gave 1.0 reviews exactly lack. chicheng has never been a good person, but that's exactly where the tension comes from-- Wusuowei is a monster tamer, this is one of the reasons that made this book good. Anyone who has trouble comprehend the fact that this is a fiction-based series really needs therapy. Was this review helpful to you?

Plot WTH
It typically reminds me of Chinese short drama but in a Chinese drama format. Tuned in due to the rave reviews . Binge for 8 episodes. Not for me. Even though not a bl, Thought i was going to give "Stay with Me" good. But clearly far off. Acting very smilar to Chinese shorts. To each its own definitely wont continue. Was this review helpful to you?
Best BL in 10 years
Perfect story, perfect casting, perfect plot, the acting... Uhh chef's kiss. My heart hurts along with their heart breaking, my emotion flows along their loss. I don't think I'm able to let revenged love go any time soon, I start the series again just to experience ChiWei's love story once again. I cant fell asleep at night, sobbing, banging on the wall, throwing up, screaming like a crazy person. I dont want to let them go!!! Even thinking about never seeing Chiwei again drives me nuts, its like carving a piece of meat from my heart, this series have brought me so much joy that has me captivated, someone please save me.Was this review helpful to you?
I wish I could give it a 10 but...
...but there are two many scenes without any sense or connection among each other. I mean, a moment they're fighting (with harsh words and gratuitous violence) and a second later they are lovey dovey in love. Moreover, many times the relationships are portrayed with a lot of stereotypes, maybe because China is still against same-sex relationships.
In the end, if you look more closely and more critically this drama, many flaws arise and the score would be even lower, but...Chi Cheng with his fragile yet strong side is irresistible and WeiWei is adorable. How can you rate badly a couple like this?

Unbelievable
I never thought I would see such a great series based on one of my favorite novels. I loved Counterattack and the original couple. But Revenged Love ably summarized both and brought them to life. It's a dream come true. Why am I now imagining that they'll somehow continue Addicted? After this series, I feel like anything is possible. Was this review helpful to you?
