5$ and a dream turned into a masterpiece
How to even start putting into words how I am feeling after finishing this series? It's like I'm saying goodbye to school friends at the last day of school, unsure if we will ever meet again. After spending so many weeks laughing, crying, rolling my eyes, screaming my lungs out, blushing and absolutely having the time of my life - it has come to an end.For me the story, the chemistry of the actors, the cinematography as well as the OST were on point! They really had a 5$ budget and a dream and they made a better series than many high budget series in the industry.
All the actors did a phenomenal job in portraying their characters and giving the 2D versions of the novel so much heart and soul making it impossible not to love them, yes even Wang Shuo. The characters in this novel are complex, especially Chi Cheng, Wu Suo Wei and Wang Shuo. If you aren't into grey or complex/multidimensional characters, it will be a hard time for you to understand them and their motivations/behaviors, so if you rather stick to more "simple" characters (which is not a critique) then I would recommend another series. Their personalities made this series even more intriguing, so if you like some scheming little characters, this is the show for you! (how i'm gonna miss my little scheming Da Bao :((((( )
!! SPOILER !! Eventhough I liked every single episode, the last one was really disappointing and underwhelming for me. It was only 33min long, so it felt really rushed and weird. Normally the final episodes are the longest ones so that the story and all the characters have their moment and the story gets a satisfying closure, but not here. When Chi Cheng came out of prison, I really thought he would surprise Wei Wei by appearing in front of him and they would get a heartfelt moment, where they confessed how much they missed and loved e/o - buuuuuuut no, we got them playing at a water fountain...
After the 2nd half of the show when WSW and CC were officially a couple, we barely got any kisses or intimate moments. I'm not asking for full on NC scenes, but some kisses would've been good - especially in the last episode. like come on give me some spice here!!
But all in all I really liked the series and will probably rewatch it 100x because I'm not even close to ready to say actually goodbye to Chi Cheng, Wu Suo Wei, Guo Cheng Yu and Jiang Xiao Shuai

Show which glorifies toxicity and yet getting appreciation
I don't usually write reviews but the weird fans of this drama made me write this. First of all I wanted to support this drama since early when it just started airing. China has bl censorship and the bl series which are relased from there is highly under risk. So I thought I should support the series. My bad I didn't knew the series is filled with all the toxic tropes. And ofc toxic tropes will have toxic fans. The way in which the weird fans of this show attack anyone who criticize about this drama needs to be studied. Some even think there is no better drama in this world than this one and some call it "masterpiece" even compare it with shows like "game of thrones" "squid game" "untamed" "money heist" etc. Such an insult to all these high budget and good quality series. I believe these fangirls are like frog in a well to think that revenged love is dominating the world. Ain't no one outside the bl fandom knows this show unlike the ones which you compare it with which even kids know about.
Now coming towards the toxicity I want to mention starting from first episode they could've avoided the grape scene but they didn't they just show poor guy getting left graped by a group of men as per the male lead's instruction. And when you say other shows also present grape scenes yes they do but it's not the positively portrayed leads who involve in such acts. It's usually villians and they'll also get punished. Many shows show how SA is traumatizing for the victim and their later life. R@pe is not something that can be ignored as you guys say. Next thing the male lead touches the other guy (the other mc) inappropriately without his consent, kissing him by threatening, no matter how much he says he don't want it still he goes along with it. Imagine if he did this to a girl will people still like it? The other one is ml threatening the doctor by telling that he'll r@pe him. Seriously?? The people who find it all cute and romantic needs serious help because none of these things are cute. The ml character deserves all the worst possible things not love and care
Also calling a girl b!tch because she just broke up with her idiot ex boyfriend and moved on. The girl broke up with him but he's still going after her and meddling into her affairs saying he wants revenge I want to ask him "What for exactly". Still she's getting all the blame shows how misogynistic bl fans are. As always these kind of misogynistic shows successfully glorifies toxic men and portrays women as bad.
Thus, revenged rove is just pure toxicity glorifying abusers, portraying misogyny all in the name of pure love which is nowhere to be seen. When I say this out loud I'll get all the hate from the fans of this drama but I would still repeat it's not love which you're watching it's the epitome of a toxic relationship which shouldn't be normalised in real life. It might be a fiction as you say but fiction has huge influence on people. This is not the kind of fiction you should promote. Again I'll be called homophobe by bl fans for saying this but I'm not and I know that. I can appreciate healthy relationships in romance shows no matter if its straight or gay. I've watched bls with good story, good acting, healthy relationships but this ain't one of them. For RL fans don't let your fetish mindset take over your morals.
Lastly I'm saying this as someone who genuinely would like to see improvement in bls it's 2025 we don't just have 5 or 10 bls there are many and still you're hyping up the toxic and low quality one even now. That's the reason why some non bl watchers think bl is just something romanticizing SA and made for fetishization.
You'll ask why I made such a review if I didn't like this drama little do y'all realise improvements can be made only with criticisms.
Again to clowns who think I'm your enemy for hating a drama you like, No I'm not I don't even know you guys personally. Stop fighting with people over a cringe drama and weird men

Hook, Line, and Sinker: Revenged Love Ensnares Viewer
How on earth did I fall in love with this drama?!Somehow, some way, Revenged Love flew under my radar for so many months. Perhaps it's because I wasn't paying attention or wasn't looking to have my heart broken by another drama. But, I'm so glad I stumbled across it through a comment online... Once I started this drama I had to finish it – I was rushing home every night after work to sit down with these lovely characters.
I went into the drama innocent and with no expectations. But the main actors of both the A and B couples had such good chemistry, I was rooting for them from the start! The acting starts off a bit shaky and you understand that part of it is due to the offbeat tone of the show. Most of the time it strike the balance of funny and heartfelt just right. There were quite a few times where I laughed out loud at the goofy comedic scenes, and there were even more scenes where I was just choked up (or straight up crying) in the heavier scenes.
I love that within these 24 episode we get so much time to know these main characters' hearts and minds... they're imperfect people who have trouble expressing themselves properly, but who end up loving each other more and more as they overcome the difficulties. What's more, we see how they sacrifice for one another in small and big ways.
One thing that unfortunately put me off from the start was the depiction of use of the animals in the production. Some things are clearly (most probably) CGI effects, but I am always concerned as a viewer of the way animals are treated – whether real or not, especially if it's not pivotal to the scene's progression. For example, seeing them feed a live mouse to one of the snakes was unnecessary in my opinion. It may be natural animal behavior, but it's certainly not a necessary for the continuation of the plot or bigger meaning of the scene in any way. But that was just one or two instances in a rather well done show, so I overlook it. I hope that drama productions think more carefully about these things.
This is in no way a perfect drama. Some of the plot could be improved. A few moments in the sub stories could have been resolved better. Some of the naiveté of the characters could be written more maturely. I would have had more sensible dialogue about gay relationships that reflect more accurately. The villains could be made less like caricatures. Perhaps some of the aggression in certain scenes could have been handled better or edited or rewritten. As director, some scenes could have been redone and the acting moments improved a bit more. Things like that could have made this an even better success.
However, what holds this drama together is hands down the acting and the fun, heartwarming, tear-jerking love scenes (including the sensual ones) of all both couples. It will make you smile and laugh and cry and brood with them. A great rollercoaster. In these chaotic times in the world, this drama is one of the few this year that actually made me forget a lot of the troubles out there. Definitely worth the watch, and even some rewatching later on if I start missing these characters.
I feel part of the appeal of this drama is how well it lures you in with it seeming like just another piece of lighthearted fluff... and slowly... you're smiling ear to ear and falling more deeply for these people as they fall more madly (and it is madly) in love with one another. Well done!

Chi Cheng & Wu Suo Wei Stole My Heart
Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei were absolutely adorable. Even though the story was rushed and many scenes were clearly cut, it still delivered exactly what a Fujoshi wants from a BL. The chemistry between the two main characters was so strong that it made it really hard for me to move on from them. The side couple was cute as well, but honestly, my eyes were only on the main couple. The plot was extremely simple, but it still managed to keep my attention all the way to the end.Was this review helpful to you?
Watched it in 2 days and I regret not startint it soon
Apart from the moments when we have threats of SA and dub-con, the series was one of the best things I've ever seen. I had previously seen a video on TikTok about it, but I never got around to watching the series. After a recommendation, I spent two days watching the series, barely sleeping at night because I was and still am so addicted. I've been rewatching several scenes and wow, I love Chi Cheng and I love how he loves Wei Wei, and vice versa. Their love is evident in every action and glance! And speaking of glances... THE WAY CHI CHENG LOOKS AT WEI!Perfect intrigue, perfect romance, perfect story. I laughed a lot, cried a lot, identified with it a lot... I'm thrilled!

Marks a turning point for me in the Chinese BL landscape
It is the first Chinese production to bring together all the elements with outstanding quality: a well-structured and well-paced plot, an ideal number of episodes that allows for development without filler, convincing performances, and impeccable overall production.I was fascinated by the sensitivity with which they approached the emotional universe of the characters. The exploration of their feelings, conflicts, and insecurities was deep and real, earning a score of 10 from me in this regard. I also highlight the success in handling intimacy; scenes of sexual tension were present but did not fall into gratuitousness or heaviness, instead contributing to the story and the development of the relationship.
In a context where BL productions in China face challenges, 'Revenged Love' demonstrates the immense creative potential that exists. I just hope there will be greater openness for these types of stories to continue to be produced, because China has everything it takes to become a leader in the genre.

Over-the-top storyline wasn’t my thing
If the plot sounds a little silly and unrealistic, that’s because it is. The synopsis looks like what you’d get if a grade B movie got yanked straight out of wattpad, but the actual execution is much better than it sounds.Chicheng, a spoiled heir who uses his father’s wealth to paper over his character flaws, is not a particularly likeable character. He's a deeply flawed character but he will gradually grow on you. His character arc doesn’t excuse his mercurial and toxic tendencies, but at least it reveals deeper layers to his behaviour.
The chemistry between Wei and Chicheng is decent, and I suspect this is why this BL has taken global audiences by storm. But personally, Revenged Love wasn’t really my thing, probably because of the storytelling style.
Their relationship is fraught with silly schemes that made no sense, dramatic misunderstandings between the male lead, and heated conflicts that got way out of hand. This was particularly frustrating because everything could have been solved if the parties involved actually talked to one another. I guess the series needs some drama to keep it moving?
Actually, I would actually watch an entire series involving Chicheng and Guochengyu’s bromance. Very SkyNani vibes.

One of the best bls
It was one the greated bls. I gave the song 9.5 because sometimes it didn't match the situations or unnecessary. And also the final episodes could be a lot better with a lot more romantic dialogue, without stipid misunderstanding . Also one of the tv shows that does not get bpring and ypu can watch it multiple timesWas this review helpful to you?

best story
A good review will highlight a drama that manages to evoke strong emotions, such as laughter or tears, by creating a deep emotional connection with the audience. The Best Thing is an example of a drama that achieves this through its heartwarming and emotionally resonant story. Chemistry between lead actors is often cited as a major factor in a drama's successWas this review helpful to you?
Not even an exaggeration but this is the greatest BL of my lifetime
I took a break from BL dramas for a little while and one day an edit of this caught my eye on TikTok. At first I was like, "Oh a Chinese BL that's uncensored? Maybe I'll give it a try." And then a few days later that maybe turned into "This is consuming me mind, body, and soul and it will be all I care about."Despite the low budget, this team gave us the greatest story, the best characters with the greatest ever character development, the absolute most insane chemistry between both the main and side couples, and some of the most beautiful (and soul wrenching) OST songs that I'll forever cry when I hear because I'll miss this cast and show viscerally.
Ziyu and Tian Xuning went above and beyond in their portrayals and their chemistry on and off screen is so insane, it's got me living in delululand for months. It's a pity they will never act together again, but at least we got them in this lifetime and it has been the greatest gift the world of BL could give us. Not to mention, they are feeding us "Season 2" through the BTS clips and that's like a whole other drama of TianZiyu falling in love. Enjoying them in at least two parallel worlds is a gift I'll treasure forever.
Others wrote much better reviews and this one is kind of/ partly to myself so I can look back on it in years to come and relive the love I have for Revenged Love.
Do not be afraid to watch this show. It is life changing.

Didn’t Expect to Love It This Much… But Here I am!
I’m still honestly shocked at how much this series got to me. When I first pressed play, I thought I was setting myself up for disappointment. I had such high expectations at the beginning, but then I lowered them because, well… it’s a Chinese BL. If you’ve watched enough, you know there are limits compared to Taiwanese BLs, and I wasn’t sure the story could really deliver. But wow, they completely proved me wrong. From the start, I was pulled in. The storyline is messy, dramatic, funny, and heartbreaking all at the same time, and that’s exactly what made it work for me. I laughed out loud at the ridiculous banter and chaotic schemes, and then, a few minutes later, I’d be crying like crazy because of how raw and emotional the scenes turned. I lost count of how many times this series messed with my feelings, but I kind of loved every second of it.
The relationship between Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei felt surprisingly real. Watching them together didn’t give me the usual over-the-top BL tropes, it actually felt like watching two straight guys trying to navigate a relationship, with all its awkwardness, sweetness, and tension. The way they handled their conflicts was so unexpectedly gentle, yet still firm in the right moments. Honestly, that’s what drew me in the most. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this kind of vibe in another series before, and it made their chemistry unforgettable.
Episodes 18 and 19? Oh my gosh. Easily the most heartbreaking stretch of the entire show. I had to stop for a couple of days just to recover. And yes, I’m still blaming Suo Wei’s mother for stirring up so much unnecessary conflict. If not for her meddling, maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so dramatic. I was frustrated, upset, and yet weirdly grateful, because those episodes wrecked me in the best way.
Now, I’ll admit, not everything was perfect. The last two episodes, for me, were the weakest part. Honestly, if they had cut those out, I’d probably be rating this series a perfect score. The subplot with Chi Cheng’s family conflict felt way too easy to resolve, almost like the writers rushed through it. It didn’t hit as hard as the rest of the story, and it left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.
Still, even with its flaws, this drama kept me entertained and emotionally hooked from start to finish. The chemistry was real, and the emotional payoff was worth every tear and every laugh. It’s not just a revenge story but about unexpected feelings, messy love, and how relationships can surprise us when we least expect it.
So yeah, I went in doubtful, but came out obsessed. This one left a mark on me, and I think it’s going to stick in my mind for a long time.

Revenged Love may be my BL of the year
The main couple’s chemistry was intense and carried by a solid main plot that kept me hooked. Their connections felt very real, not just surface-level.The themes were ones I genuinely enjoy seeing in BL dramas, with a unique and different twist that made them stand out. Although the side couple didn’t stand out to me as much as wo suowei and chi cheng, it didn’t matter since the main story was strong enough to keep my full attention throughout. definitely one of the best bl i watched in 2025, I really recommend you to watch.
