This is like Style by hearts2hearts
Well, its a super refresh series, I watch with a big smile, I was worried that would be another dated story but it's not, it's good, the act was really awesome, the soundtrack was fun, they should ask SM permision to put style by hearts2hearts because damm, this series is good and worth your time watching. Was this review helpful to you?
Heartfelt friendship and heartwarming love
I started this series with no expectations and ended up loving it without restriction. From the actors to the story to the music - I loved everything. What I adore about this series is that there was so much love for the details - like the opening scene where you only know what it refers to: the scene where Watarai's and Hioki's eyes meet for the first time without knowing anything about each other, but it is the start for the whole relationship.
And how much love were put into the supporting characters! From Watarai's friends to Hioki's friends and even to Morisakis brother Ryoto. All so lovable where one wants a story for each of them. Simply great cast and acting from all of them!
And yes, the storyline is all about clichés (school trip, amusment park, going to the beach, autumn festival ect.) , but very well done!
All in all, a fantastic, heartwarming, fluffy series that I want to watch over and over again!

An unexpected breath of fresh air
Ngl i was kinda skipping this drama cz of the cover photo and summary. Seemed cliché and i felt it'd be boring but then i saw some edits on watarai's unrequited love to hioki and was like let's give it a go... haa it was beautiful ❤️ just too beautiful. It's a really simple story, no major plot twists or surprises but it kinda made my heart feel warm and conforted when i watched it. It kinda made me wanna fall in love. Kinda tells us love doesn't need to be grand just simple is enough. Even the drama it's soft and sweet and everything nice like a warm coffee on a cold dayWas this review helpful to you?
Adorable!
Super charming and sweet story. It may be cliche but the actors make this worth watching. This will be my go to when I want an escape from negativity.I am hoping there is a second season to see relationships develop more. Hioki is so lovable you just want to put him in your pocket. He is that character that allows his insecurities to be seen but is also embarrassed by them. He overthinks everything.

BUTTERFLIES IN STOMACH
The plot isn't deep yet hits your eyeballs to drip tears of happiness. It's partly because we all have that insecurity that we aren't the part of cool kids gang. This series gives that personality a chance, to get in the world of popular kids and feel him worthy and every drip of equal happiness that makes him feel "special" . A not so popular kid, when taken into group of heavenly handsome boys' gang who are popular, handsome, attractive and eye catchers; it gives him happiness, love, friendships and most importantly memories. Pleasant memories of high school life. School BLs often brings nostalgia of innocent love and this series brings exactly that but also long lasting smile for all that 23 minutes it airs.Music from Dxteens hits hard, brings out emotions and excitement. Everyone got their own taste but for me, it's officially my favorite series and for you, even if high school romance isn't your taste, I bet you won't regret watching it and have the fluff, innocence, blast of serotonin inside your body.
Kan Hideyoshi and Kodai Fujimoto both are amazing actors. I hope they bring us season 2 because according to the novel, there's so much more to show in upcoming parts of their life.

What a comfort series. I think i had amazing orgasm while watching this
Fucking finest drama. No flashy moments, no drama, no trauma, no manipulation. Whoever hating please keep quiet. U can enjoy ABO desire or wicked game but don't troll these kind of comfort healing drama. I can 100000000/10. Just a love story and friendship without giving any trauma and pain. I never saw this kind of BL drama from any country. China, Thailand should learn how to make comfort BL series. This series make feel like i am on peak of orgasms. What a drama. Uff butterfly those moments, fully moments. What a desert. Stop looking those average or negative comments. Perfect and great series. Japanese producers should make japanese BL for international fans as well like thai producer's are doing. They should use YouTube. Or promote without using those creepy fan service. Was this review helpful to you?
Pure trope heaven. Totally won me over (10/10)
This series is absolute comfort food. By ditching unnecessary side couples, the show gives the main romance the exact amount of breathing room it needs. It is heavily cliché, but it hits you with this wave of sweet nostalgia that honestly heals your inner child. The intense yearning between the leads feels so genuine. The cast delivered an incredible performance. Fujimoto Kodai has an amazing, effortless screen presence, and Hideyoshi Kan is a masterclass in silent acting—his expressions alone tell the whole story. Their onscreen connection feels entirely natural and elevates the whole production. Character-wise, I love that Watarai isn’t written as a flawless, idealized green flag. His slightly overprotective streak actually made him feel human, capturing that raw, chaotic energy of high school infatuation. Combined with their supportive friend groups, the entire setting feels very cozy and authentic.
Special shoutout to the soundtrack! It’s an instant addition to my playlist, and learning that one of the cast members sang it with his actual idol group makes me want to loop it on Xiaohongshu immediately. As for the romance scenes—wow. Japanese high school BLs are usually pretty tame, but the intimacy here was top-tier. It builds beautifully from a gentle first kiss to something incredibly passionate. That final kiss felt totally spontaneous too; you can tell by how genuinely startled and cute the reaction was. No stiff, awkward drama kisses here—they genuinely had amazing chemistry. My only minor complaint is the added "boy or girl" line, which felt a bit unnatural and wasn't in the book. But honestly, the pacing is so quick that it doesn't even matter.
If you want a highly complex, high-brow plot, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a heartwarming escape from reality, this is an absolute masterpiece. 10/10.

Shoujo-like
Honestly, this drama is cliche, but that's what I like about it. The feeling I get from watching this is the same feeling I get when I read or watch shoujo. There were many scenes that made me feel excited and got my kicking my feet and screaming. The story is simple and any conflicts were resolved quickly, which made it not stressful to watch. The acting also felt natural and not cringy like other japanese BLs. Fujimoto Kodai (Hioki) in particular, his acting was perfect (imo) and I really loved how he was able to convey his feelings through his eyes.

HEARTWARMING
I have not written a review in a really long time but I decided to write one for this japanese drama because it was such a pleasant watch. I will admit, the happiness of watching this show felt short-lived because after watching it while it was ongoing for the past couple of months, I felt connected to the characters. If you're reading this review right now and you need something warm, sweet and light-hearted to watch on a cozy day then this is your show! No one does bls like the japanese and although I do not regularly watch japanese bls, this was a relaxing and cozy watch. The characters are so sweet and understanding and there isn't any unnecessary drama. The music is also so cute so I loved that too.
I think this show executes its story very well without making anything boring. You should give it a go!

Honestly, I didn’t expect a teen series to be this mature and such a total green flag. Hioki is a quiet, introverted guy who suddenly finds himself in a world he never thought he belonged to. Watching his journey of growth was truly moving. He starts out insecure and withdrawn, afraid of being just a passing figure in someone else’s story, but he learns that vulnerability isn’t weakness and that he deserves to be loved for who he is.
But the real standout is Watarai. Seeing him put in the effort to win Hioki over is absolutely adorable. He’s confident, caring, and emotionally open. He respects Hioki’s feelings and is always tuned in to them, never pushing or pressuring him. Instead, he faces Hioki’s fears and insecurities with honesty and reassurance, making it clear that his feelings have nothing to do with gender, looks, or circumstances. He likes Hioki simply for who he is.
Another highlight is “The Guys,” Watarai’s friends. They’re the popular kids, but they’re kind and thoughtful. They welcome Hioki and later Hioki’s friends, without any prejudice. And when they find out Watarai and Hioki are in love, they accept it in the same warm, supportive way. They’re the kind of friends anyone would be lucky to have.
The whole cast is wonderful, but the chemistry between Fujimoto Kodai and Kan Hideyoshi really deserves special mention. Both actors are naturally expressive, with intense looks that conveyed emotions words couldn’t capture. Highly, highly recommended!

I humbly wish for a second season, where the focus is on each of them equally again, where we see Watarai's growth not as just an object of longing, but as a fully articulated inner world, just like we saw in the first half of the show. Remarkable character.
The show trusted the viewer with subtext and instinct. Which to some may seem cute and fluffly, to others might felt electric and alive. This will stay as a favourite for a while, I feel.

I Came for a Simple Romance, I Stayed for Watarai
I honestly didn’t expect this at all. After seeing so many exaggerated and overly explicit stories, this felt like such a refreshing surprise. I went into it thinking it would be just another silly high school romance, but it completely changed my mind.
The way the feelings were shown little by little, the slow and gentle pacing, the lack of rush — everything felt so calm and sincere. Nothing was forced, and that made the emotions feel even more real.
But above all, Watarai was my favorite part. Cold on the outside, yet incredibly sweet in his own quiet way. He completely stole my heart. I ended up liking him so much more than I expected.
This BL truly surpassed all my expectations, and I’m really glad I gave it a chance.
I just wish we could get a special episode showing the main couple as adults, seeing how their relationship grows over time. It feels like such a shame to say goodbye to such a beautiful and adorable character like Watarai.
