Did You Know Weirdo 101 Has One Hell of a Gravitational Pull!!
Before you dive in, if you are looking for a super plot heavy series with constant twists, this isn't that but what you are going to encounter is Cheewa who is so openly fascinated by Niran and has absolutely no shame about making his interest known in the most nerdy adorable way possible, while Niran is this emotionally guarded boy who doesn't even seem to understand what is happening to him, slowly finding his safe space in Cheewa. And honestly, watching these two gradually become important to each other is so worth it. Their relationship is the story, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, I wouldn't say this series was perfect or that everything was executed flawlessly, but I absolutely loved the way it made me feel.Cheewa is probably one of the most delightfully straightforward flirts I've ever seen. This boy doesn't need some elaborate romantic setup. Give him Niran, an astronomy fact, and approximately three seconds, and somehow he'll turn it into flirting. From the very beginning, everything about the way he approaches Niran feels so Cheewa. He is curious, nerdy, openly fascinated by Niran, and completely unafraid to let Niran know it. He literally uses the whole universe to flirt with his P'Niran and trust me if you know the depth and the metaphorical meanings behind it, you'll be stunned. And he doesn't just say it for the sake of saying, he means it. There's always something more behind those astronomy facts, and somehow he manages to make the entire universe sound like a love confession. Oh, to be loved by Cheewa!!
And then there's Niran, who is basically the complete opposite. He's guarded, reserved, carrying so much inside himself, and initially he genuinely doesn't seem to understand what Cheewa is doing. He's just standing there cluelessly listening to this astronomy obsessed boy talk about the universe but trust me Cheewa was flirting with Niran and Niran was just not nerdy enough to understand it. And then Cheewa really said, "Can I hit on you?" Oh my godd!! I love how there is no unnecessary game playing with Cheewa. He likes Niran, so he lets Niran know he likes him. It's so simple, so earnest, and somehow incredibly charming. And once Niran finally realizes what's happening, watching him slowly become aware of Cheewa's feelings while simultaneously refusing to acknowledge his own is absolutely fascinating. He KNOWS. He absolutely KNOWS. And yet this man will still stand there acting like he's completely unaffected. P'Niran, you are such a poser.
But underneath all that, I think what makes Niran such a compelling character is how much emotional weight he carries. He is such a relatable character. His insecurities, his fears, his exhaustion, the way he's constantly burdened by expectations... everything about him feels painfully real. There's so much more emotional weight attached to it, and you can feel how something that once brought meaning to his life has gradually become something he feels trapped by. Beneath the romance and all the adorable moments, it's also about losing sight of yourself under the weight of expectations, trying to make peace with things that have shaped you, dealing with your own emotional struggles, and finding a way to take ownership of your life again.
What I love is that Cheewa doesn't force Niran to suddenly become open or happy or figure everything out. He simply keeps showing up. He gives Niran a space where he doesn't have to constantly be a certain version of himself. And slowly, almost without realizing it, Niran starts becoming comfortable around him. That's what makes their relationship so lovely to watch. It's not just about Cheewa flirting with his P'Niran. It's about Niran slowly realizing that being around Cheewa feels safe. That someone can be interested in him without demanding anything from him. That maybe he can let someone into the parts of himself he's spent so long keeping guarded.
And then we have THE ASTRONOMY 😭
I genuinely love how the series uses astronomy as more than just Cheewa's quirky personality trait. The metaphors actually become part of the way these two understand each other. Things like gravity, stars, planets, comets and orbits aren't just random facts thrown into the dialogue... they become a language Cheewa uses to express feelings that might otherwise be difficult to say directly. And THAT is why his flirting gets me so badly. Because Cheewa can stand there talking about something scientific and somehow make it sound like a love confession without ever losing that adorably nerdy quality that makes him him. It's clever, it's romantic, and most importantly, it feels completely natural to his character.
The writing really knows how to balance the sweetness with the emotional side of the story too. There are moments that are genuinely funny and ridiculously cute, and then suddenly you'll get a glimpse into Niran's inner world and realize there's so much more going on underneath all that romance. It gives their relationship a surprising amount of emotional depth without taking away from the softness that makes the series so enjoyable.
And SeaKeen really brought these characters to life. Their chemistry is so natural that half the time I'm just sitting there watching them interact and thinking, LOOK AT MY BABIES. 😭 The dialogue is especially one of my favorite things about the series. These two can have the simplest conversation and somehow make it feel meaningful, funny, or ridiculously romantic. THE DIALOGUES ARE EVERYTHING. They give me a whole damn zoo.
And I absolutely love their friend circles too. Niran's bond with Hem, Thara, and Thipok is everything. There's such a natural warmth and familiarity between them. And then Cheewa with his two nerdy friends, Jomyut and Newton... PLEASE. The astronomy club really gathered an entire collection of adorable nerds. CheewaNiran are already enough to make me lose my mind, and then their friends come in and add another 10 levels of chaos. I love these people so much.
And obviously, I cannot finish this without talking about the OSTs. SeaKeen's vocals never disappoint. Gravity has been playing on loop in my playlist with all of their other previous osts that I am still not over with and also now Beside you. Oh my godd their vocals!! I am so damn in love with this series.
Highly Recommended!! Also the uncut is available on youtube. So please watch it there. Go let Cheewa teach you astronomy and fall in love with Niran along the way.

GMMTV fails again...
The longer you are at GMMTV the worse the scripts get - or so it seems. Their first series was the best and that was because Keen could carry the show with his talent and support his co-star who was still very shaky. For some reason GMMTV decided, all nerds need to wear glasses because what is a GMMTV show without any stupid cliché? The then shaky Co-Star Sea has to act like a robot. He sprouts "interesting" things about the universe, but every kid that did not sleep through school should know all this facts. This gets very repetitive and annoying as well.Keen's character is a tuned down athletic with a short temper. But he is not flamboyant or has any other quality, he comes across as bland. Both together they are boring af. There is not really a spark which makes the whole story believable. Of course we have the comedic bits which are not funny but the sound editor has to do some silly soundeffects. There is at least one conflict with Nirans family and his misunderstandings and here Sea can show his talent, but otherwise the whole series is just like a desert. It did not excite me or give me any reason to root for that couple.
Production quality was good as expected, music was ok, but they used generic background-music we heard from other shows. Overall this was a disappointment. A mediocre show with an especially bland finale. And there was just one half-assed kissed in the finale without any passion. Yep, a series you can watch but also a series which I will forget tomorrow.

Brave but bland attempt at reversing a classic trope
I wanted to support this series because I like Sea and Keen but because of some major drawbacks I ended up disappointed. One problem right away is the Cheewa character. Sea plays him like he's a robot, and tbh the supposedly brilliant facts that Cheewah spouts endlessly aren't really all that brilliant. ("The light from a star 100 light years away takes 100 years to reach us.") The writers dress up most of these insights using bigger, fancier words but there's no hiding the fact that they're things a 12yo should know.
This all means what we end up with is essentially a lay person's idea of what a genius sounds like. Ironically, this results in the opposite effect the writers intended by making Cheewa seem he's a little "off" and a bit of a poser.
Another problem is how they've given Sea a make-under (as opposed to a makeover), resulting in a Cheewa who looks frumpy. (The comments I saw about how cute he is seem to come from an alternate dimension.) I don't know why the series thought it was necessary to make Cheewa so plain looking. The other members of his science club are attractive in their classic nerdy way, so why not let Cheewa be attractive too? I mean, at least give Niran this much to latch onto once he learns that Cheewa likes him.
Which leads me to the aspect in the series that is the toughest sell of all: We're meant to believe that an attractive and popular athlete like Niran would accept romantic overtures from this odd, robotic junior, even seeing him as a potential boyfriend, let alone as a friend, and welcome his constant presence in his life both at school and at home.
I think this pursuit would make a lot more sense if the roles were reversed and it was Niran who was chasing after Cheewah. With such a setup it would be more socially permissible for the guy being chased (in this version the nerdy Cheewah) to put up a fight and recoil from the unwanted attention from a school jock. The story would have a lot more tension and entertainment potential.
As it is, though, because Niran is higher up on the school's social ladder he is required to remain kind and understanding at all times, lest he be seen as "punching down" at Cheewah. The result is the bland interaction we get here, with no dramatic spark. To compensate, what the series gives us instead are "hug scenes" with their contrived sweetness and "crying scenes" that strain to warm our hearts. And because both are repeated too often they eventually lose whatever effectiveness they had in the first place.
With an opposite setup where Niran chases Cheewah there'd be the opportunities that are missing from here. It would be okay, even funny, for Cheewah to "punch up" at Niran in his effort to make the guy go away. I think Niran's eventual display of emotional vulnerability would have a lot more impact too. And yes, I know this concept has been done over and over in other series, but that only further validates it as a classic trope. To pull off what they wanted here required a level of skill that the writers and director just couldn't manage.
I commend the production, though, for keeping things between Niran and Cheewah platonic until the very end of the final episode. That's where we finally get a chaste kiss that by BL standards is weak sauce but which undeniably fits the characters and the tone of the series.
I believe what GMMTV wanted to achieve is precisely the idea that a nerd can chase after a popular athlete and win him over, but the story they came up just didn't make it happen. Unfortunately, because of that I think this series is destined to be forgotten not long after it has run its course.
I hope Sea and Keen will get better material the next time around.

Did you know?
I had no expectations for this series and pretty much from the start knew what it would be like. Still, I enjoyed watching it, even though it is pretty much just like other school BLs from GMMTV. It is the classic school BL with the typical "We actually met before" and other cliches. Entertaining, cute, and funny with good acting, but really nothing special. You can watch it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKSScKG6Xtlo
Things I liked:
1. I love the characters that Sea and Keen are playing and the contrast between them. It feels a bit weird/unusual to see Sea playing more of a nerdy character, but he is definitely doing a great job so far, and I am definitely liking it.
2. Cute and caring moments.
3. Chemistry. Not surprised, though, since it is a SeaKeen after all.
4. Funny moments.
5. Goofy but nice and supportive friends.
6. Soundtrack.
7. Cheewa's brother.
Things I disliked:
1. Stereotyping all "smart" people as weird and wearing glasses. I know it's all in good fun, but I still don't like how every person in Cheewa's club has glasses and acts a bit weird. There are plenty of people like this irl, I know, but for it to be every single one of them is a bit much.
2. Niran's father. Sure he makes the change for the best, but the damage is done.

a simple, wholesome romance that feels like a warm hug
this was such a wholesome slice-of-life series 🥹💗 i know it might not be everyone's cup of tea compared to h2h or only boo, but i genuinely enjoyed it. there's something comforting about a story that doesn't need complicated plotlines, unnecessary drama or love triangles to keep you invested. sometimes, all you need is two people slowly falling in love, and cheewaniran gave me exactly that.i really liked how naturally their relationship developed, especially considering they're only 17 and 18. their romance felt age-appropriate and believable, with feelings growing through little interactions rather than grand gestures or dramatic declarations. the way they both enthusiastically shouted "yes" when niran asked cheewa to be his boyfriend at the end of ep 9 was so adorable 😭 they sounded like two excited kids who couldn't contain their happiness, and then ep 10 gave us cheewa preparing that big heart sticker for his boyfriend!! 🥹 it's the little things that make these two so lovable.
their first kiss was another favourite of mine. the whole scene felt so soft and dreamy, especially the way they kept looking into each other's eyes before leaning in for another kiss.. it felt intimate and genuine without trying too hard to make the moment overly dramatic.
the slower pacing might not work for everyone, but i found the series incredibly comforting. it's the kind of show you can watch after a long day when you just want something lighthearted that makes you smile. not every story needs complicated conflicts to be enjoyable, and this one reminded me how lovely a simple, well-developed romance can be.
i honestly wish we had gotten more episodes because i'm not ready to say goodbye to these two just yet. 😭 i'll miss my weirdo 101 friday nights and having cheewaniran to look forward to every week. i'm just glad i got to experience their story, and they'll always have a special place in my heart. 🥹❤️

Don't waste your time
SeaKeen have grown to be one of my favourite GMMTV fixed pairings, but this is apparently solely due to their amazing performance in "Hi By My Luck" and the fact I was willing to overlook a lot of the flaws of "My Boo!" and "Head 2 Head". I was initially really excited for "Weirdo-101", especially after the pilot trailer, but the show did not follow in its footsteps. It felt like I was promised one story and watching something completely different. The plot was probably the emptiest I've seen from GMMTV - the only real conflict that was somewhat engaging to watch were Niran's issues with his family. Everything else - the bullying, the ghost hunting (what the fuck was that), even Niran’s complicated relationship with judo and worries about the future - was so underdeveloped that I am genuinely starting to think this script was written by AI (if someone has read the novel, please tell me how true the series is to the original work). The characters were offensively underdeveloped too. I cannot tell you any of the names or traits of the boys in Niran’s friend group. Cheewa and his friends were a walking stereotype (seriously, who makes fun of others for wearing glasses in the year of the lord 2026). I also had a difficulty believing they’re as much into astronomy as they claimed, considering the trivia they were bringing up was part of my school curriculum in fourth grade. Cheewa didn’t have much reason to be this devoted to Niran, especially considering how cold the latter was acting towards him until the very last fucking episode. The “they knew each other in their childhood” reveal that happened in episode 9 felt like a poor attempt at explaining his affections. Cheewa being there for Niran when he was upset with his parents was obviously meant to be a turning point for Niran’s own feelings, but Niran then never changed the way he acts around Cheewa. Until the last episode, he was dismissive of him, generous with his physical affection towards his friends but keeping a safe distance from his boyfriend (even denying him kisses!). Their relationship was always stated but never shown, which made it very unbelievable (they would hug the way I hug my siblings, hold hands while being 5 ft away from each other, not even pucker their lips when going in for a kiss. Zero intimacy, and maybe I am biased, but I don’t remember SeaKeen being this stiff in Head 2 Head).
Just save your time and skip this one. I hope their next series compensates for whatever this was, because I am sure SeaKeen could deliver! (I also think Sea’s acting has improved. Maybe because his role was bland and there wasn’t much space to go wrong, but I will still take it).

SeaKeen deserved more!
Weirdo-101 was the classic GMM high school drama that I thought it would be. Honestly, it felt like a step back for SeaKeen, considering their last show was a quite creative college drama. While this show was still quite enjoyable, I do feel like it would have been better for a new unknown pairing to give Sea and Keen something with a little more substance.Niran (Keen) is the top judo athlete at the school. However, as he debates giving up judo for good, the rising conflict between him and his father causes him to spend more time away from judo and his home. He ends up meeting Cheewa (Sea), an astronomy club nerd. While Cheewa may be a bit strange and nerdy, Niran can't help but fall for him.
The characters in this show were quite cute and I enjoyed their romance. I especially liked the aspect of the show that entailed Niran's inner struggle with judo, and how it affected his relationship with his father. Unfortunately, this was overall a bit of an underwhelming show that would have benefitted from a bit more substance. Sea and Keen did a great job as these characters, but I was hoping that since Head2Head was set in college that they had moved out of high school roles. If you're a big fan of SeaKeen, this one is worth watching; however, there are definitely better high school romance dramas out there.

Weirdo-101 is high school alter version of Me and Thee
I liked the first part of the series because Sea’s character was such a nerd to the point of being genuinely annoying—and I mean that as a compliment. I thought the series would actually lean into that weirdness and build a story around what made his character different. Unfortunately, as the story progressed, I felt like I was just watching a high school version of Me and Thee. It’s the same old formula: one character is rich and has something interesting going on, while the other feels bland, rigid, and completely lacking in personality or flavor. It reminds me so much of the PondPhuwin dynamic in Me and Thee, particularly Phuwin’s character, who felt like he had very little room to grow or show different sides of himself. And now, with Keen’s character in Weirdo101, I’m getting that same feeling all over again.
For a series called Weirdo101, there’s surprisingly little that feels weird about it. Where’s the uniqueness? Where’s the character development? Where’s the payoff for introducing a character who seemed so different and full of potential in the first place?
Honestly, what frustrates me the most is that this is SeaKeen’s third series together, yet the production seems to have let them down with a story that offers so little growth or room for them to explore their range as actors. It feels like they’re being stuck in the same routine over and over again: “Okay, guys, you’re high school boys again. Be sweet to each other, develop feelings, and that’s pretty much it.”
And that’s such a waste of their potential. SeaKeen deserve roles that challenge them, characters with more depth, and a story that allows them to show us something new—not just another variation of the same formula.
Poor SeaKeen. I genuinely hope they get a much better project next year, one that gives them more interesting characters and a storyline worth sinking their teeth into. And please, for the love of BL, let’s give these boys a break from playing schoolboys. We need something fresh. They deserve something fresh.

A Little Universe of Love, Laughter and Self-Discovery
I had been looking forward to WEIRDO-101 ever since GMMTV unveiled its pilot trailer at Magic Vibes Maximized 2026. It is always a pleasure to see Sea and Keen lead a series together, and this project turned out to be a charming showcase of their growing chemistry and individual strengths as actors. The series follows Cheewa, an academically gifted and unconventional astronomy enthusiast, and Niran, a laid-back high-school judo athlete whose life takes an unexpected turn after he protects Cheewa from a troublesome senior. Cheewa responds by openly pursuing Niran, expressing his attraction through a distinctive blend of nerdy enthusiasm, scientific references, and refreshing honesty. Niran, however, is considerably more guarded and initially struggles to understand both Cheewa's intentions and his own growing feelings.
WEIRDO-101 begins as a sweet, light-hearted, and slightly slow-burn school romance that quickly became one of my comfort watches. Although its approach is gentle and character-driven rather than plot-heavy, the series gradually unpacks a moving story about expectations, personal identity, and the challenge of reclaiming one's life. Some of Niran's early interactions with his father frustrated me, but gaining context for his father's perspective helped me appreciate the background of their relationship.
Cheewa is undoubtedly one of the series' greatest highlights. His straightforward approach to romance is both refreshing and endearing. He likes Niran, so he makes his intentions known without unnecessary games or elaborate strategies, perfectly captured when he simply asks, "Can I hit on you?". What makes him memorable is how he weaves astronomy into his affection. Gravity, stars, planets, and orbits are not merely random personality quirks; they become metaphors for feelings that are otherwise hard to articulate. Once you recognise the depth behind his words, his flirting sounds like an entire universe dedicated to a love confession.
Niran provides a compelling contrast. Reserved, emotionally guarded, and burdened by expectations, he initially appears oblivious to Cheewa's advances, only to become almost comically determined to act unaffected once he finally catches on. Beneath that facade is a young man dealing with exhaustion and burnout from a sport that has become a source of pressure. This vulnerability makes Niran deeply relatable and gives the romance a solid emotional foundation.
One of the most touching aspects of their dynamic is that Cheewa never forces Niran to open up before he is ready. Instead, he consistently shows up and offers a safe space where Niran does not have to maintain a specific image or prove his worth. Through Cheewa, Niran learns that affection can exist without added demands.
The writing does a fantastic job of balancing humour with emotional depth. There are plenty of hilarious and adorable moments, alongside quieter scenes that reveal Niran's internal struggles. Sea and Keen bring these characters to life brilliantly. Sea captures Cheewa's awkward intelligence and sincere enthusiasm, while Keen brings a cool, mature presence to Niran. Their chemistry has evolved wonderfully since Only Boo!, and even the younger actors portraying their childhood versions share a lovely rapport.
The supporting cast adds genuine warmth and chaos to the school setting. Niran's bonds with Hem, Thara, and Thipok feel completely natural, while Cheewa's interactions with his astronomy club mates, Jomyut and Newton, bring delightful energy. Furthermore, the original soundtracks elevate the viewing experience. SeaKeen's vocals are always a treat, and Gravity and Beside You fit the romantic atmosphere perfectly.
My absolute favourite moment arrives in the finale during Cheewa's speech duing Niran's graduation. His reminder to the graduating class that they do not need to search the sky for themselves because who they are already shines brightly genuinely moved me. It is a heartfelt reflection on self-worth, reminding us that finding yourself often starts with recognising the value of who you already are.
Overall, WEIRDO-101 is a warm and engaging coming-of-age BL romance. While it is not a heavy plot-thriller, its heartfelt characterisation, natural chemistry, and thoughtful message make it thoroughly rewarding. Highly recommended for SeaKeen fans and viewers who enjoy character-driven stories with emotional depth. The uncut episodes are available on YouTube, so let Cheewa introduce you to the wonders of astronomy, and you will easily fall for Niran along the way.

Losing of sense of purpose
I'll be honest. When I watched Episode 1, I wasn't hooked. But to be fair, I was distracted that day. LOL.On a lighter note, I started appreciating the series more in Episode 2. Sea nailed his nerd role. I didn't see Sea at all. It was Cheewa all throughout! And Keen, too, did a good job with his role.
I love the friendship dynamics, especially when the group of nerds started bonding with Niran's circle. Some people might not find the humor funny, but if you're a fan of The Big Bang Theory, you'll get it. The jokes aren't meant to be understood that quickly because they're not your ordinary, petty jokes. You need to get the context to appreciate them.
What makes the series adorable, honestly, is Cheewa. His clinginess toward Narin and how straightforward he is? I LOVE IT! What do you mean we already got a straight-up confession in Episode 1? A genuine confession! 😭 And Cheewa has been consistent throughout the series. You might think he's "just" a nerd, but NO! THAT GUY HAS LINES TO THROW, AND HE KNOWS HOW TO SHAKE NIRAN'S WORLD. HAHAHAHA.
I do understand the feedback from people who find the series kind of boring, but you also have to understand that this is the plot of the series. Besides cutie Cheewa living in his own little world, the series also revolves around the depth of Niran's world. If you observe carefully, Niran is slowly losing his passion and, worse, his sense of purpose. That alone made me stay with the series and wonder what happened to him. Because you might see the daddy issues floating around, but what's beyond that? There's more to his character than just his relationship with his father, and I wanted to understand what was going on inside his head.
Then came Episodes 8 and 9, where it was revealed that Niran was on the brink of depression, slowly losing his purpose. I cried SO MUCH during that part. (If you know, you know.) 😭 So yeah, this isn't just your normal nerd-and-his-crush kind of story. The depth is there.
Honestly, the final episode wasn't that impactful for me. I wished I could have seen more. I don't even know exactly what I wanted to see, but I WANTED MORE. LOL. 😭 Maybe I just wasn't ready to let go of these characters yet, or maybe there were things I wanted the series to explore further. There is still room for improvement in how that depth is delivered.
And of course, a special mention to Cheewa's brother, Cheewin (Sea Tawinan)!
WE FINALLY GOT SEA BROTHERS, Y'ALL!!! 😭❤️ HAHAHAHA. This was such a fun little bonus.

I'm disappointed I wasted my time with this one
Nothing particularly new and different about the plot, I don't mind that, I will watch school/ college shows and enjoy them.... But this one was not great and the characters were so awkward. Cheewa was kinda annoying, no emotions at all and zero chemistry between the leads. There was 1 kiss in the last 10 seconds and I wish they hadn't bothered, it just looked uncomfortable. I don't get romantic vibes at all. Wish I could go back and just give it a miss! Was this review helpful to you?
