Same old One31

Started out strong, fell flat mid part, and a forced happy ending that's kinda disappointing. Every One31 BL has the same formula, they should start brainstorming for betterment of their story telling. I have the same issue with Love in the Moonlight and Flower Boy, I feel like they are very afraid of sad endings that they will force a happy ending even if it will ruin the flow of the possible masterpiece. I believe a sad ending is not bad, it actually leave a dent in the heart and soul that can make a series or movies a classic and unforgettable. I hope someday they can be brave enough to give us masterpiece that can make our heart break and our soul cry same as how even after years The Love of Siam still is unforgettable for me, that last part of Mew crying really leave a mark in my brain, heart and soul. I really want this series to be like that, but sadly it's not.

Expect a Lakorn

And if you aren't sure what that means, it does mean some over-the-top dramatisation, lots of beautiful crying, plotlines that may be slightly unrealistic, but also poetic dialogue and solid acting from the main cast (esp the senior actors). While i went into this expecting the lakorn-ness, i was slightly disappointed with Chat's character design and the simplification of the political scenes. It started to get draggy in the last 4 episodes for me...

What saved this piece for me were the two leads, their parents and the grandmother, who had some of the best lines in the drama. Tinn was also a really likable character and I was pleasantly surprised by his acting (though not perfect) seeing how this was his first series/lakorn,

Watch it for the romance, beautiful lines and visuals. But if over-dramatisation is not your stuff, I'll give this a miss.

I still hate lacorn aka soapoperas...

but saying this, this was the best I have seen so far. The overacting (dad, brother) is painful to watch, but besides them there are no characters who got on my nerves. I guess both Pond and Chai did an excellent job from a lacorn view. We already know that Pond can play anything if they let him. Chai is a veteran actor and in this case he is not a 2nd class support as in most other series. As always Grandma is the best and the most wise to boot.

Then we have the typical One31/GMMTV (One Enterprise) forced happy ending. There must be a happy ending ALWAYS. Why not let him die - that would have been the more fitting ending for the story. There are sacrificies to be made to change a country for the better. But no, he could not have been sacrified, there had to be a happy end, so all the fangirls are happy. First there is the "death", everyone is crying (including the viewers - not me, because I know it's always fake) because there is a death ceremony, then the "resurrection" and finally Phob is apologizing to Thins dad - FOR WHAT? WTF is wrong with the writers? There is no reason to apologize to the dad at all! And yes, they life happily ever after... or so.

Production quality was top notch and especially the OST was superb. Too bad GagaOOLala fails to translate songtexts and have missed some subs especially in the final episode. Let's just say, this series is quite good for what it is. It's not perfect, in the middle it's a bit draggy, but the start and the end till episode 10 are not bad. The finale is questionable but we can live with it. It's far from a masterpiece, but even as a lacorn it's so much better compared to most thai shows airing now. If you don't mind soapoperas it might be for you.

An incredible series let down by its ending

I genuinely loved The Edge of Horizon. It is one of those shows that gave me more than just entertainment. It actually made me interested in an older period of Thai history and pushed me to start reading and searching about the country, the political changes and the society of that era. When I later went to Thailand, I even visited the palace/filming location because of the series. Unfortunately, the palace itself was closed for renovation, but the café was open and I still got some beautiful pictures there. That alone says a lot about how much this series stayed with me.

The acting was easily one of its strongest points. Inn and Ongsa were excellent, especially in the emotional scenes, and the supporting cast was just as strong. The production, atmosphere and historical setting made the story feel much bigger than a typical romance.

But then came the ending.

I really wish the writers had had the courage to let Phob die.

By that point, his death felt like the natural and necessary conclusion to the story. We watched everyone mourn him, there was a funeral, the rings were found beside him, Thin had accepted that the love of his life was gone, and the entire episode treated his death with enormous emotional weight.

Then, in the final minutes, Phob suddenly returns because villagers apparently found him and nursed him back to health.

It completely took me out of the story.

This was a romance taking place during an incredibly turbulent period, with revolution, class conflict and two men trying to love each other in 1930s Thailand. A tragic ending would not have felt cruel or unnecessary. It would have reflected the reality and turmoil the entire series had spent eleven episodes building toward. Phob's death would have made their love even more powerful to me — a love that existed despite a world that was simply not ready to allow them to live it freely.

Instead, it felt like the production wanted a happy ending at any cost and tried to satisfy everyone. Unfortunately, by doing that, they weakened what could have been an unforgettable ending.

And I say all of this as someone who absolutely loved the show. I would still give it a 9/10 and recommend it without hesitation. The story, performances and atmosphere were fantastic.

I just wish they had trusted their own story enough to let it end where it naturally wanted to end.

overacting that is painful to watch

Honestly, I was really excited about this series because the premise sounded so interesting, but that excitement slowly disappeared as the acting became more distracting with every scene. Pond Ponlawit is an incredibly talented actor (just watch 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us. He is truly amazing), which made this even more disappointing. He never really managed to sell the "stubborn, dumb" personality here. The voice, facial expressions, and body language all felt far too exaggerated, making the character and the humor it's trying to create come across as forced. The same goes for most of the parents in the drama... they're so overacted that some scenes are genuinely painful to watch.

The soundtrack is incredibly beautiful though.
Although, I quickly got annoyed by it basically being the ONLY music used in the series and appearing every few minutes.

Love story between The Master and The Servant and traditionalism.

It's so good
Definitely worth watching.

I was totally excited after watching the official trailer and I was completely waiting for ittt .
Their chemistry is so amazing, I loved their acting and the script was written so welll.
The story till now is so great, I'm cheering for themm to overcome every difficulty they're going to face from next episode.
Cuz love between two guys is considered as a sin in that era, we can totally see from the way their parents reacted.

I'm definitely waiting for the upcoming episodes, I want to know what will the King doo?

When a Servant Dares to Love a Prince...A Forbidden Romance Destined to Break Hearts Has Arrived

My most anticipated Thai historical BL of 2026 has finally arrived, and it has completely exceeded my expectations.

There is something irresistible about forbidden love, but placing it in a royal historical setting filled with duty, sacrifice, hierarchy, and impossible choices makes it even more powerful. The Edge of Horizon understands exactly what makes this genre so addictive and delivers it beautifully.

The story centres on two childhood friends, Prince Tin and Phob, a servant’s son, whose bond is tested when fate brings them together again after years apart. Caught between love and duty in a palace that would never accept them, they must face political intrigue, social barriers, and impossible choices.

This is my second time watching Ongsa after The Cursed Love and Inn after The Wicked Game, and I absolutely love seeing them in a fresh pairing. Sometimes unexpected pairings create the strongest chemistry, and that is exactly what happened here.

Ongsa is absolutely breathtaking as Prince Tin. He is only 21, and when he filmed The Edge of Horizon, he was just 20. He is so young yet incredibly talented. Honestly, he is one of the best young actors I have seen, and I really hope we get to see much more of him in the future. He brings so much elegance, vulnerability, and emotional depth to Prince Tin.

Inn is equally impressive as Phob, bringing strength, loyalty, and quiet devotion to the character. And when he wears that soldier uniform, he looks incredibly masculine and attractive.

Together, their chemistry feels natural, heartfelt, and impossible not to root for.

I was also excited to see Pond as Prince Chat. After seeing him play so many protagonists, watching him step into a villainous role feels refreshing.

The production is stunning. I was especially impressed by the attention to detail in recreating the early 1900s. From the old cars, traditional villages, and historical costumes to the incredible outfits, soldiers filling the streets, and the palace scenes, everything felt so carefully crafted and authentic. Nothing felt out of place. The attention to detail was outstanding, and combined with the beautiful cinematography, it created a truly immersive world that made the era feel alive.

What impressed me most is how quickly the series pulled me in emotionally. Within just two episodes, I was already completely invested in Tin and Phob and the impossible situation surrounding them. The tension between love and duty makes their slow burn even more addictive.

I completely broke down when Tin fell to his knees before his father, begging for just one chance to see the man he loves. He had spent his entire life being the son everyone expected him to be, doing everything asked of him. The only thing he wanted for himself was to be with the person he loved. That scene absolutely shattered me.

Then came the scene with his grandmother, and the tears started all over again. Tin was convinced she would be disappointed and ashamed of him. Instead, she embraced him with nothing but love and support. It was such a beautiful moment and the exact opposite of what he feared.

Both scenes reminded me of Love in The Moonlight. One31 really knows how to break our hearts and then give us just enough hope to keep going.

And when Tin and Phob finally let all those years of longing out through that kiss after 11 years apart, my heart could not handle it. Every second carried the weight of everything they had lost and everything they had kept hidden. Beautiful, heartbreaking, and incredibly emotional.

It is also so hard to find a series that delivers both a great love story and genuinely beautiful romance scenes, but this one does. The kisses are gorgeous, and their intimate moments feel soft, tender, and full of genuine affection. After years of unspoken feelings, seeing them finally find their way to each other makes those moments even more meaningful.

I also loved how the series gives us a glimpse into Thailand’s history, taking us back to the early 1930s and showing ordinary people coming together to fight for freedom. Seeing their joy and hope made those historical moments feel incredibly alive.
My only small critique is the sound mixing. Some of the yelling and emotional outbursts can be extremely loud, which can feel a little jarring while watching on TV. I wish the volume were balanced a little better.

The Edge of Horizon is currently rated 8.6 on MDL, making it the 10th highest rated BL series out of more than 700 titles, and honestly, it deserves it.

If you love historical dramas, childhood sweethearts, forbidden love, political intrigue, protective male leads, emotional storytelling and stunning cinematography, this absolutely deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist.

For me, The Edge of Horizon is already shaping up to be the defining forbidden romance Thai BL of 2026.

In The Edge of Horizon You'll Find Love

This was phenomenal. Seeing all the comments, I thought it’d be a total betrayal arc, but thank God it wasn’t. Through everything, they loved each other and somehow found their way back to each other, and that’s probably my favourite thing about the whole show.

My equally favourite thing about this show has to be their eyes. By grace, Ongsa has such a beautiful pair of eyes, they’ve got a whole fanbase atp. I love his character, and he complements Inn so well. And Inn aka Phob… whew. What a man.

They both did such a great job acting, but it wasn’t just them. The whole cast and crew set the mood so perfectly, and you could really feel the atmosphere of the story. I love Pond’s acting so much; I genuinely think this is his best work to date.

One of the best series released, to be fair. The story and premise were written so well, and I actually feel like I understand Thailand a little more after watching this. It managed to tell its story while also giving you a glimpse into the culture and history without making it feel like a history lesson.

Overall, I really loved this. The story, the acting, the atmosphere, the characters, everything just came together so well. Definitely one of those series that stays with you after you finish it.

The ending ruined it for me

An enjoyable watch with an interesting backdrop, during political turmoil the royal prince trying to find the balance between his forbidden love and duty / family. As a premise it was very interesting, and parts were beautifully filmed but the drama wanted to cater to a certain demographic making the story more palatable. The ending especially felt like a cope out, this should have been a story about betrayal , civil war and it's consequences but it ended up being "love conquers all". Love conquers death ??? Love managed to suddenly make the king forgive a guy who took part in ruining his life , took all his power and money , betrayed his family and used his son. They were desperately trying to make this a happy ending when it shouldn't be, we are talking about 1932 ... even-thought Thailand was traditionally more influenced by Buddhism and were more tolerant toward homosexuality, the social stigma was very much prevalent.

Fun watch as an elevated soap opera 6.5/10

Servant and Prince: A Forbidden Romance Story

The first episode was SOLID!!! The chemistry, the tension, the push and pull, the teasing, the “i love you” left unsaid and the suspense at the end!!!!!

There’s not much to say about this than it is a very very good story.

I’m keeping this review spoiler free, but if you like a good Lakorn BL show, then you will love this one. The beginning is intriguing and i hope it keeps the momentum.
