Sacred Jewel has unveiled fresh stills.
Sacred Jewel takes place in 1258 (Goryeo Dynasty), when defeat loomed after years of war with the Mongols. The story follows the heroic struggle of an expedition unit that sets out in search of a sacred relic believed to protect the nation, as well as a princess who strives to save them.
Ahn Bo Hyun plays Baek Gyeol, a doryeong (special-duty commander) who leads the escort unit and formerly served in the royal palace's elite guard, the Gyeollyonggun. Lee Sung Min plays Choi Gu, commander of the Yabyeolcho, a special military unit of Goryeo.
The stills show the two men carrying out their escort mission together, as well as scenes in which they face off in a tense confrontation. Although they share responsibility for safely escorting the Gwaneum Boju, a symbol of hope for protecting their nation, the two men have different personalities and experiences, making it hard for them to see eye to eye. Their uncompromising clashes, with neither willing to back down even an inch, heighten curiosity about how their relationship will unfold.
Baek Gyeol is a young military commander who is in love with the emperor's daughter. True to his background as a member of the Gyeollyonggun, he is bold and determined. However, with little regard for the Yabyeolcho, he faces unexpected challenges when he is assigned to a life-or-death escort mission alongside them. It remains to be seen how Baek Gyeol, a young commander determined to carry out the mission his own way, will change amid the harsh battlefield conditions and his unfamiliar comrades.
Choi Gu is a seasoned military commander who has experienced countless battles. Selected as the escort unit commander, he is assigned to work alongside Baek Gyeol, a young commander who lacks experience. One key point to watch is how Choi Gu, with his extensive battlefield experience and wisdom, will guide Baek Gyeol, whose determination and fighting spirit are second to none.
The production team stated, "Ahn Bo Hyun and Lee Sung Min perfectly brought to life Baek Gyeol and Choi Gu, each with their own distinct personalities and commanding presence, and demonstrated excellent on-screen chemistry. The process of these two men, who embark on a perilous escort mission to protect their nation, constantly clashing yet working together toward a common goal, will unfold in an engaging way."
Sacred Jewel premieres this December and will be available worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
