Chen Zhe Yuan and Bai Lu confirmed for new Chinese historical drama
CJ ENM and Nippon TV have unveiled stills from Merry Berry Love.
Set on a remote Japanese island with its beautiful scenery, Merry Berry Love follows Korean spatial designer Lee Yoo Bin (Ji Chang Wook) and Japanese female farmer Shirahama Karin (Imada Mio).
In the drama, Ji Chang Wook plays Lee Yoo Bin, who was once a highly successful space planner in Korea but loses everything overnight and heads to Charo Island. A perfectionist by nature, he meets Shirahama Karin (Imada Mio), a lovable and passionate strawberry farmer, and experiences an unexpected change in his life.
The stills show the two characters, who have completely opposite styles, keeping their guard up around each other. The contrasting personalities of city man Yoo Bin and farmer Karin are on full display, sparking curiosity about their first encounter, which begins with a misunderstanding.
Ji Chang Wook shared, "Merry Berry Love is a project in which the chemistry between Yoo Bin and Karin is important, so Mio and I often talked with each other." Some of the everyday conversations the two actors actually had were also used as dialogue in the series.
The two actors took on the role of each other's language teachers in order to overcome the language barrier. Ji Chang Wook shared, "Mio and I would teach each other our Korean and Japanese lines. Thanks to Mio teaching me the intonation and nuances so well."
Merry Berry Love is coming October 7. It will be streaming on Disney+.
